When was the last time you felt 'wonder'? The feeling of amazement and admiration, caused by something beautiful, remarkable, or unfamiliar is one that, as children, we experienced often. But as adults we have grown tired and cynical and spend more time looking down at our phones than looking up at the sky. We no longer experience the power of awe nor its proven benefits. The Little Book of Wonder encourages you to be creative, feel curious and seek wonder in the world around us. Focussed around seven themes, echoing the seven wonders of the world, the book will The Wonder of You2. Into the Woods3. Curious4. Magic5. Creativity6. The Road Less Travelled7. Positivity
This book is aesthetically pleasing and short enough to read in a couple of days. Parts of it made me smile, for sure. It would make a nice gift for a friend or family member. However, I didn’t feel inspired to carry out any of the tasks - I felt some of them were a little childish. I also spotted a typo early on into the book, which didn’t fill me with a lot of hope for the rest of it. Overall it’s ‘OK’.
This isn’t just a vague, feel-good book full of platitudes - it’s actually a workbook with practical exercises which help you reconnect with a more childlike, awe-inspired view of the world. Given the abundance of bad news it feels like we’re constantly bombarded with, working through this book was a wonderful antidote. Beautifully designed, so it’s a great gift – maybe even a gift to yourself!
"One ought, everyday at least, to hear a little song, read a good poem, see a fine picture, and, if it were possible, to speak a few reasonable words. " - Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

"The little book of Wonder" by Bernadette Russell is actually a journey of rediscovering some simple steps and exercises which we knew yet forget or even if we remembered we didnt let ourselves take out time for them.
It is a simple book comprised of seven chapters and several excercises given. In each topic you will find some to do's which will definitely help you to be curious again, will urge you to unleash your creatiive side and above all this book shows the MAGIC OF SIMPLICITY.
*3.5 I enjoyed this, and there was some good ideas. I liked the way it was written. One criticism for me was that the author didn’t seem to give much consideration to the barriers of doing many of the suggestions - I would say this is mostly suitable for a reader with no family commitments.
This not another banal self help book or guide to mindfullness. It is full of brilliantly diverse people talking about everyday things in extraordinary ways. Each micro-chapter is a blue print for making the familiar strange, for adventure and mischief.
It is not about improvements, as improvement leads to straight roads, it is about taking the crooked path, which are always the work of genius.
Buy it for a friend, buy it and leave it on a bench for a stranger, buy it for your local library and delight in the fact that you have spread some kindness and joy.
