What time is it? It’s Adventure Time! As we prepare for the series finale of Cartoon Network’s beloved animated series, everyone’s favorite genderbent citizens of Ooo star in this all-new, original Fionna and Cake story, exclusive to this Free Comic Book Day issue. Fionna and Cake take a look at some of their favorite times together over the years before they jump off into another adventure.
I've read a handful of comics and am slowly trying to figure out which ones I gravitate towards. Free Comic Book Day is such a good way to do this. Even though I live in The Netherlands and didn't have time to go to a participating book shop I actually managed to snag up some free comics online. Score!
This Adventure Time comic was a safe bet for me. I've read Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake by Natasha Allegri before and loved it. There's just something very endearing about these characters. And if it's one thing I've discovered it's that I enjoy comics about girlpower the most. It's so cool to see that girls don't always have to be the princess who doesn't do much, which was the case for female characters I mostly saw portrayed growing up.
I like that Fionna is a tomboy, but she still has a nice bow around her sword. For some reason I also really gravitate towards Cake (maybe even more than Jake, sorry not sorry). This comic isn't that special, but it was very wonderful to read it in my loungechair on a very relaxed evening. Just sipping a drink and letting myself slide into the land of Ooh for about ten minutes.
I've only read two Free Comic Book Day comics before this, a Spider-Man and a Miraculous Ladybug one. The other two felt like they didn't have enough content. Most of them featured two small stories or even a story that had nothing to do with the rest of it. Beggers can't be choosers, but I really prefer this Adventure Time one where you just read one story. Again, this didn't wow me but it was enough to keep me entertained.
This is hardly among the top stories that I will use as arguments as to why Adventure Time is so good. It doesn't even really have the weird storytelling from the show. In fact it may be a little more relaxing than the tv-series. But as someone who bingewatched a lot of slice of life anime in high school I can't say I mind.
Having never seen the show, and not knowing the characters: I loved this story. It stands perfectly well on its own. Yay for the power of punch to solve problems!!!
I really enjoyed reading this comic book. Such a pleasant, simple story. I've always liked Adventure Time. Never continued with the show, though, due to it being unavailable everywhere I looked. And I've never been introduced to Fionna and Cake before. First time in this comic book. Looking forward to reading more Adventure Time comics and watching more episodes.
This book was cool let alone the the other versions of Finn and jake since they don't make this on t.v any more and there was sooo much detail in the art which caught my attention most! the only problem I have with this book is that it wasn't very long like I expected it to be other than that it was with reading and gave me inspiration to draw!
Very cute and funny I love how the story has 2 different sides the way came says for her story and soon as very different opinions on the way the journey should end😎😁👍😇👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😎😇😎😁😎👍👍👍
This comic definitely reminded me of Adventure Time when I was reading it. It also had a feel of an episode that you might see, making this tale fit even more to this Universe and bringing more awesomeness to these two characters.
I like the tv show and my Fionna and Cake hardback volume, but this was disappointing. I kept waiting for it to be funny. The story wasn’t even interesting.
Got this on FCBD and I won't be pursing any Adventure Time comics in the future. I've never seen the show and don't plan on it. The story wasn't funny but the artwork was nicely drawn.
I love the Adventure Time tv show and have watched a bunch of episodes with friends and family. This was a cute, fun and simple adventure with some of the characters from the story.
It's a good book so I chose a 5 star rating cause it's really interesting and I like to 2 characters and explain a different story so it's really cool and enjoy.
