This book is one incredible trip into the what was and what could have been. With characters that were not exactly what they appeared to be it was like stepping into the looming glass with eyes wide open.

This book is truly a five-star book. The characters walked off the page and settled in my brain. With real life events and alternate reasons, it built into a tightly woven blanket of espionage and government interference. An exciting beast of a story to read and a thrill to dissect the details provided.

When I read this book, I was surprised at the rich characters and deep topics that were being handled in such a creative and believable manner.

The story follows the life of one special man. A man that knows a lot and is now at the end of his life, willing to share his knowledge. It is a very interesting and lively book. It kept me involved and wondering exactly what was going on.

I felt for several characters. I felt they were in over their heads and doing the best they could. I found the interaction between the characters to be really well written and thoughtfully constructed.

I stepped way out of my preferred genre comfort zone for this book. I am very glad I did. It is not often politics and the Paranormal get combined, but this book does just that. Geopolitics, witches, worlocks, secret societies, and terrorism all bound together. For the first time, I enjoyed reading a slant on current events and the possible future we are heading into.

I review different than most, if you are wanting character and plot exposition, you are not going to get that. I leave that for others or the blurb to cover. I care more about the writing and if the book makes me want more or not.

That being said, this was a bit of a slow burner. It took me a while to really get into the book. I am glad that I stuck with it! The author had a lot of back story to give, that is why it took a bit, but it was necessary to get the reader vested. Once you get the background, you become invested in the characters and what happens to them. One of the ways that the author keeps you plodding through the building portions, it to time hop with the narrative.

Give this one a chance! If you are as quick to judge a book by its first few pages as I usually am, you will miss a great book.

This book will take you on the journey of a sorcerer who is currently masquerading as an official in the military. He intends to use his magical abilities to twist events for the worse. However, his plans don’t go as smoothly as he might have liked them to go.

Stephen Perkins writes this novel in a very intriguing way. Not only does it have a creative plot, but it is filled with many unique characters and settings. It’s also filled with many plot twists which will leave you quickly flipping through the pages to find out what happens next.

At 411 pages it might be a little bit of a long read for some. But the amount of pages shouldn’t deter you as it’s a very creative novel.

This novel is ideal for those who are fans of suspense and science fiction to read. It’s also great for those looking for a unique book to read.

Stephen Perkins entices us with another novel about dark forces manipulating the government. An ambitious terrorist controlling the majority to gain power and riches is the main theme. But it all began sacrificing his son’s innocence to achieve mayhem among the people.

Jim Keogh is condemned to death to keep the “carbon unit human resources” in balance. He had been committed to a hospital 50 years ago in connection to the death of his high school math teacher. All who were acquainted with him in the facility knew he was innocent. With hope of a pardon or rescue gone Jim begins the tale that he has kept hidden these many years.

As the story comes to a head, many of the main characters are the sons of great men who have grudges to settle and scores to be made right. Many have to admit their play in an innocent man sent to prison. They will stop at nothing as things are set right.

If you are a reader of futuristic fantasy fiction then this is a must read or add to any collection. Its a very fast paced in order to change the present the hero must change the past kind of story. Completely spell bind and memorizing from the very first page.As a plus all past conflicts are torn right from the headlines giving the reader a possible glimpse into our future. If our future turns out to have those with mystical powers that is. However a very pleasant and surprising read that takes you out of the comfort the current world and makes you think about the what ifs and other possibilities of our day to day life. From the first page it is a very tantalizing and completely gripping read. Definitely something that should not be put down until the end. Conclusion: as a avid reader I'm looking forward to more works by this author. This is not a story for those looking to fill just a few moments of free time as this will consume the better part of your day. Reader be warned.

Raging Falcon by Stephen Perkins is a gripping thriller that features war in the twenty-first century, but a war not fought with conventional weapons like guns and bombs. Readers are introduced to some compelling characters, including Major Stacey Truman Keogh, a man with extraordinary powers and an ambition that nothing will stop.

I could have enjoyed this thriller fully not that I didn't enjoy it except for some of the editing errors that could have been easily handled with good editing. That said, there is a lot for thriller fans to enjoy in this story. It is fast-paced and the conflict seems to be huge and fully developed. The idea of weaving black magic into this kind of story is unique and fans of paranormal and literature that grips the mind with a dark world will definitely entice many readers.

Overall, Raging Falcon is an entertaining story that features crime, terrorism, powerful characters, and a great plot.

Our political world is one thing not many are not paying much attention to. We focus on other things that seem most meaningful, if not on our list of top priorities. In “Raging Falcon”, author Stephen Perkins draws major focus in on life in politics both in the past and present, along with snippet scenes of the possible future. Many civilians are slowly “awakening” from their slumber and looking into what could be the causes for what’s happening in the world. In this book, although fiction and borderline science-fiction, he grants us an insight of what our leaders of the world are doing behind closed doors.

One thing that I didn’t like in this particular book is trying to separate the different characters and their specific roles in this agenda. Some parts seemed a bit vague, while characters were discussed with such details. Aside from that, a fair share of character development, atmospheres and how every action is done in the past created a reaction in the present and future. The back and forth in time frames can seem a bit tricky at first; Stephen Perkins guided his readers the best way possible for a smooth transition between chapters. All events whenever they occurred all leads up to this point and beyond as if a story board has been developed for everyone to go along with. Overall, all events demonstrated within this book is somehow relevant to the current state of our political world and a new world order for global unity.

In the “Raging Falcon” chapter, under ‘Bowels of the Vatican, Rome, 2011’, it points out that black magic is used to manipulate the emotional energy of the masses. Stephen Perkins writes on how the government has to make the people believe the world is crumbling, that way the new order of global unity can be implemented as the piece to the puzzle. If this were really happening, the world is doomed for failures unimaginable, but good thing it’s only a story. One key thing mentioned was the “power in numbers”, which is actually true because things can be accomplished with the help of many than alone, an interesting quote. I recommend for everyone who enjoys talk of politics, black magic, the past, present and future plans for the world, to give this book a chance, an interesting read.

When writing sci-fi, it’s so difficult to capture the reader in the world you have created within the pages. I don’t think Mr. Parkins has any problems grabbing the attention of the reader, and enveloping them in the world he has built. With so much going on, it can be hard to lose yourself in what is being said, but I feel this was written with more of a mature young adult audience, so it’s not too challenging of a read. Plus, there is a list of definitions, meanings, and character descriptions in the back of the book that I found quite useful.

In the future when wars are no longer fought on battlefields, but rather in the power of the mind, everything is different, and nothing can be easily predicted. Of course with that sort of premise to the book, there is a lot of adult situations and language, but it adds to the natural order of things throughout the story line, and doesn’t feel forced or out of hand. This book was a lot of fun, and very thought provoking. A lot of the government issues and ideas in the book, can easily be compared to world problems of today. This made everything that much more believable and you see how he formed the parallels of the story line.

I am definitely giving this a 5/5 and checking out the other books written by Stephen Parkins.

One of the things everyone thinks about is government control and whether they abuse the power that they have access to. Is it for the good of the people or is it harming the people? And depending on the world that we lived in what could it look like if you add magic and wars?

In this world, a spy agency has taken control of the government and has used its power to control with blackmail, terror kills, bombings and stuff like that. Control with fear. This is something that you see in the current day even, so reading this is chilling ( not sure if that's the word I want to use). This book feels like a realistic possibility of things that could come, that could happen.

The characters are really interesting to read about also. So not only is the world build great, the people are good too. You have Stacy Keogh (aka Iron Major) who is married and has a son named Jim. Jim Keogh is convicted of murder for the woman he is in love with. There is also Larisa Ustinov who has this weird love triangle thing going on.

The whole dystopian world with black magic mental battles was super cool to me. However, the political side was the main takeaway for me. This was an excellent read and I feel greatly privileged to have received a free copy to offer my honest view of this amazing book.

Old Jim Keogh had been in the New Salem Regional ‘Enrichment’ Center for fifty years for a murder he didn’t commit. As the Regional Global Unity Council, specifically Chairman Woodall, pushed to have old Jim placed on the “unsustainable list”, Warden Averill Howard feverishly worked to get Jim pardoned. Expecting him to be terminated that night, Jim’s guards, along with other prisoners who have befriended Jim through the years all sit with him, while Jim tells the full story of what happened those many years ago.

Much of the information in the pages of this book was so spot-on, that I got chills imagining what if it were all true. Based on actual events and people, it truly makes me wonder just how much could possibly be the truth. Sometimes I got lost in the information being given but it was so fascinating, I couldn’t stop reading, knowing the implications it insinuated. This story wove a web of lies, deceit, corruption, and greed, all for power and control. As the story shifts between the present and the past, it was the anticipation of finding out if old Jim would be executed or not that drove me forward. But the twist at the end was a total surprise. I did not see that coming.

A great mystery and thriller.

This book is a very dynamic one. I got pulled in from the very beginning. It starts off as a bit of a mystery set approximately fifty years into the future,  and then delves into a man's recollection of his past, which takes place in 2011. The plot is very plausible. It isn't far-fetched. Even though there are some elements of magic and sorcery, the topic of government corruption and terrorism is also included. Each character is described in detail, and everyone has their own complex personality. Some of the characters' true intentions are unclear. You don't know whether someone is completely good or bad until you reach the end.

What I really liked about this book was that at the end, there were many surprises which I had not anticipated. Some of the scenes were fast paced, and that added to the thrill. It was a hard book to put down. There were so many questions I couldn't wait to be answered. I'd recommend this book to anyone who is looking for an amazing story featuring corruption, greed, suspense, sorcery, and love all wrapped up in a wonderful way.

First I want to say this is not my usual genre so at times it was hard for me to wrap my head around and really enjoy the plot, with that being said I do believe Stephen is a talented writer that has this unique written voice that can grasp his readers attention (if this is their genre), and the characters were will built. I give authors, like Stephen big kudos for the creativity and imagination when I come across to books like this one.

Stephen Perkins introduces us another gripping tale of political intrigue , magic and physiological thriller. This is my second book written by Stephen Perkins and to be honest I did not believe he had another great one in him but he completely surprised me with this story . He takes you and enveloping tale in the world that has been changed and destroyed and what is left is a dystonia society focused on sustainability of all and where magic reins. It starts it's tale in 2063 in a prison where an old Jim Keogh telling his prison guards about his dad and telling them the truth behind the history they believe they know. Mr. Perkins unique writing style pulls you into the story where you have to pay attention and take your time or you will miss definitely miss something important ; it is definite a book you can read more than once and find things you did not see the first time or even the last time. You will complete all the three hundred and sixty two pages and not even realized you have read so many the way he pulls you in and you experience exactly what the characters are and you have that feeling like you have been truly their and experienced as they have experienced. The way he ties all the events together in his writing makes you wonder if he knows something about the geopolitical environment that no one else knows. Perhaps that is the point the wonder behind his ideas that make you want to continue to see where the story goes.

Well, I never thought I would be alive to see witness the merger of two of the strangest things ever!
A distant future, something very precious to us but highly ignored was eliminated permanently, society is now left speechless and without the power of having an opinion.
To be completely honest, I’m not into topics such as politics, especially in times like this, but the way is portrayed in this book in such a compelling way is remarkable, and not only does the author accomplish such feat but it also moves beyond that, and combines it with things you never see it coming, there were times I was having a pause because of everything happening and it was amazing.
As much as I want to keep discussing things about this book, the risks of writing spoilers is getting higher, so I won’t. All I’m going to write is to buy and read this book, it gives a lot of insight in such an unique way about the topics we are having almost daily in every known medium.

Wow. Talk about an in depth plot and characters you wont soon forget! The book has a strong political pull, but it is written in such a manner that this only enhances the story. The government is corrupt, and an innocent man sits in jail. Jim is a man that lives out his life in prison- which is soon to end. Th execution is to take place quickly, and Jim tells the people he has befriended in his prison walls about the tale he has kept secret for all these years. This is a fantastic thriller! Magical elements, politics, sorcery, lies, deceit, action, friendship,, and determination are just a few of the elements found that propel the story to one of the best I've read. This is a longer, more engaging book. had to re-read a few parts and the author's character development is impressive. Overall I highly recommend!

Thriller!
A fiction thriller based on the theme if misuse of powers and how far you can go to maintain the control. Jim Keogh, tells the story of his father who had magical power and control, created an evil world and even sent his son to prison for political powers. He still believe he would like to have the strength of his father to use it for good. The character description and events are the highlights of the book. This is not a light read novel and I had to re-read some paragraphs to understand.
