What a fab read this is! Well written the author draws you into an intriguing world filled with curses of second sight, pirate queens, romance, adventure and Irish legends! A captivating read with a strong female mc.

No spoilers, you have to read this and experience it firsthand. If you're a fan of the series you'll be as shocked as I was reading this. If you're new to the series although this is a prequel read this third, you deserve all the anxiety and wait what, moments I experienced while reading this. I thought I had it figured out by the end of Inish Claire, I was wrong. I just don't know, I'm shocked. The story gets better with each book, my anxiety increases, and the revelations have me reeling.

I loved Rockfleet. I’ve read Bohermore (book 1) and Inish Claire (book 2) and this was a lovely addition to the series. I love Maeve. She’s strong, adventurous, loyal and determined. This was a great introduction into how her journey to Ireland began.
Although I know this story is mainly about Maeve it also gave wonderful insight into the Pirate Queen’s world.
I loved getting to read more about Grace (Pirate Queen) and Hugh’s story. After reading the first two books of the series I wanted to know more about Grace. Wanted to know what she was like and how her and Hugh came to be. Rockfleet answered those questions for me and more.
From the moment I started reading until I reached the end I was sucked into to the book. The story came alive and I was there with Maeve. On her adventure to a medieval world to help the Pirate Queen save her people and defend their home land. I felt the loss of Maeve’s mother and the longing she had to feel whole and find her place in the world. I understood why her soul called her to another place and time and how it could feel so much like home.
This is just the beginning of her quest of discovering who she is, who her ancestors are and finding her place in the world.
I love the characters and the world that Jennifer Rose McMahon created in these stories. I look forward to the release of Ballycroy.

Having read books 2 and 3 first, Rockfleet, the prequel, provided me with a much needed background story and elucidated what remained enigmas to me while reading the sequels. I have thoroughly enjoyed the series by McMahon with its use of fantasy, Irish folklore, and romantic adventure.

I enjoyed learning more about the famed Irish Pirate Queen Grace O'Malley and her fight to preserve Gaelic Ireland and Maeve O'Malley's quest to uncover the truth about her ancestry and the rivalries among the Irish clans. Wonderfully written with rich details that bring the story to life.

Ms. McMahon has done it again! This prequel to the Pirate Queen series is wonderful! The story moves along quickly and you get lost in the plot. For those who have read Bohermore and Inish Clare, this is a fascinating look at how Maeve's life gets changed by her "awake dreams". For those who haven't read the books yet, it doesn't spoil what happens in the rest of the series. Absolutely LOVE this series and can't wait for Ballycroy to come out!

This book is the prequel to a The Pirate Queen series. I loved this book!! Well written with descriptive scenes and believable characters. As our heroine gets pulled back in time through her visions, and so does the reader with this authors writing. This story is a great foundation for the books that follow. It will draw you in and keep you reading until the end and leave you wanting more. I can never get enough of Ms. McMahon's books.

Maeve's quest

Maeve has flashes of time travel to the distant past to see her history and be part of it. She is having a longer time in the past than she did in the first book. She also has too come to terms with the betrayal that happened in Grania's time and what's happening in her time too.

I really hated this book even though I loved the Pirate Queen series. This prequel could have been amazing. There was so much that could have been explained about the events leading up to the Pirate Queen books. The author narrates thru Mauve which makes no sense and contradicts the other 3 books. Solid FAIL
