Amazon has a great marketing strategy for promoting series. I got the prequel for free and after reading it I just couldn't help myself. It's light and cute and full of cliches - perfect to unwind after forcing your brain to work on the highest setting all day. Reading Bated felt like watching an episode of a favorite TV show - you know how things will go you just don't know the particular details. I'm 100% ow the trilogy will end but somehow I still want to read it and see which road the author will take to get us there.
So if you want something that will make you feel all nice and warm inside but at the same time not take too much mental energy out of you this is the prefect book to pick.
A gorgeous retelling of the infamous Goldilocks story, Bated is able to keep the reader interested with a tale of intrigue, deception, and budding romance! After having read the prequel, Hated: Goldilocks and The Three Dragons Trilogy Prequel (A Reverse Harem Dragon Shifter Fairytale), I wasn't sure as to what would happen in the three part series. However, Delia has managed to weave a tale that reads smoothly and keeps the reader guessing as to what will happen next. I love that the relationship between Marigold and the three Dragons isn't an immediate thing, but rather one that is built slowly between each character. I cannot wait to read Mated and see just what happens next!
Marigold ordeal didnt end after escaping prison and brothel. She found murdered dragons and when she run for help, she was captured as suspect. The story is really great, and its really steamy romance :)
This one was a bit of a struggle. While I enjoyed the writing and worldbuilding in the prequel novella, this follow up novel found me not connecting with the characters.
Marigold thought that she was safe when she escaped being caught by the bears and made it to something of a shelter. Then she comes across the bodies of two dying dragons and gets blood all over her clothes as she tries to save their lives. In walk three dragon brothers, who only see their dead parents and a girl covered in their blood. They assume that Marigold killed their parents, and she has to prove her innocence. She knows that if she is turned into the authorities that they will see that she escaped prison and will send her right back to the bears.
I will start by saying that if you haven't read the prequel to this series, Hated, it is really important that you start there. If you start with this book, you are basically missing the information leading up to Marigold stumbling across the dragons. Previous events are also mentioned throughout this book. It is free for Kindle and is fairly short, so just take a few minutes and read that one first.
That being said, I am loving this series! Marigold has such a unique backstory, and I can already feel her chemistry with the brothers. This book does focus on her relationship with only one of the brothers, but I can't wait to see how the "harem" itself grows in future books.
The one thing that I liked about this novel was that the brothers are just as old as Marigold. In many of the other RH novels I've read, the main character is between the age of 18 and 20, and the men are all a lot older than her. Either they are in their late twenties, or they are magical beings that are hundreds of years old. This seemed to be a more age-appropriate matchup.
Also, I really enjoy the discussion of grief. Some brothers find it easier than others to find Marigold innocent, whereas others were blinded by anger and grief. None of the brothers were completely right or wrong in the conclusions that they jumped to, but the discussions that came afterward were important, and they allowed me to see what types of characters I would be dealing with for the rest of this series.
This is an action-packed and addictive tale, and I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a new reverse harem novel.
I love this first book in the series, after reading the prequel I was looking forward to see how the story would go. Being a fairytale re-telling of Goldilocks and the Three Bears I wasn’t sure what to expect, I found the story to have a darker twist to the usual fairytale. Marigold is fugitive on the run, she is determined to make it to Habilis where there are said to be no shifters but for her to get there she must first find work to paid back her new friend Ella and earn enough money for a fare to Habilis. When looking for work she comes across the murder of two dragons and is accused of the crime by one of the Dragons sons, while another defends her and the other whats to find out who she is. When secrets are revealed, and a mate bond is formed can these four pull through what is to come, I’m excited to see what their next move is. This was a great start to the series and I can’t wait to read more in book two.
I absolutely love this series! My heart goes out to Marigold and Berrien. Marigold has been through so much already and she just wants to find out who she is. Her heart belongs to Berrin and now she wants to protect his family but at what cost? I love how the author entertwined Ella into this story.. I can't wait for the next book to be released!!
A very important surprise comes forward in an u usual way...
Book 2 brings out more of Marigold's enemies and more enlightenment about herself when her and Berrin come under attack. Come join the adventure of a young woman finding out what she is and who she might be. Page turning suspense and mystery.
Bated: Reverse Harem Dragon Shifter Fairytale (Goldilocks and The Three Dragons Trilogy Book 1) by Delia Castel This was a breath holding book Marigold meets Berrin a dragon shifter. From her past to her present she never stops the plot has romance tyrants and a Mystery which may hold many answers.
This was a good read. I enjoyed most of it, but give it 3.5 stars because of the behavior of one of the brothers really irritated me. I think that readers would benefit from reading the prequel for context. I will definitely be reading book 2!
This was such a great and captivating read. I was hooked from the prequel book and just got sucked in even more as I read this official first book. Can’t wait for the second book to come out! Definitely recommend!
Good story subject but the telling is very slow going. I enjoy stories with 1/ 2 description and 1/2 concersation.. scene set up is import and but can be exciting and not so dry. Waiting to read the next installment.
I didn't think it be all that good but I been blown away! I do recommend u to read Hated first u don't have to it understandable but it give more insight of what happened to her before the first book. Good luck have fun!
As far as I know there is a prequel and I think you have to read that before this book. At least it felt to me like I was starting book 2 in a series. I really liked the story idea, but this book was just nor for me.
