Viola Danvers is the foul-mouthed exorcist you never hope to meet, because if she’s around—you’ve got problems. Hellish problems. Covered in protective tattoos and with a priest for a stepbrother, she travels the world taking on whatever nasty thing that just crawled out of Hell.
Most of Viola’s customers tend to be financially stunted—leave it to demons to prey on the poor—but when a wealthy Scotsman asks for her help, suddenly it’s more than restless souls sweeping Vi off her feet. As the new client tries to break down her walls, demons smell sin in the water… and it’s his soul they’re circling. Can Viola save the Scotsman without losing her heart in the process?
GRAVE THINGS is book one in a series about fighting demons, finding love, and trying to stay off the Devil’s preferred guest list.
Lindsay is obsessed with stories, especially the ones about strong female leads as they take on the world and fall in love. Either she's writing them, reading about them, or watching them on the big screen. Lindsay just can't get enough. Action, romance, adventure, and some supernatural--She'll take it all!

I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the characters in this book. They became like dear friends by the end.
The pacing of this story is one thing I found a bit off. It would be very fast paced then slow to a halt, especially in the middle of the story when there is a change of setting. I think a lot of that section could have been condensed to keep the story moving forward.
There was also a bit of instalove going on. I think that letting the characters get to know each other a bit longer would have endeared them to me more.
That being said, this was in no way a bad book. I found myself laughing often and even fist pumping a few times.
Vi is an exciting and different MC, and I loved her. She didn't take crap off anyone, she held her own against every adversary she came across, and at no point did I ever think, hmm I hope someone comes to rescue her. I knew she had this. I did enjoy her closeness with her step-brother, Aaron. I felt like the two really cared about one another. Lana was also a great addition to the team.
The ending of this book is a rollercoaster ride in all the best ways, and I am anxious to read the next book to see where Vi and her crew go from here.
OH MY FREAKING GOD!! Grave Things was AMAZING. I received this book as a pre-release prize on a facebook game and immediately started it because I had to admit I was intrigued. When I first started, I wasn't actually expecting to enjoy it as much as I did, because I'm usually not into 'heavily influenced' religious fiction, but the more I read, the more I fell in love. I love the way Christian and Egyptian mythos blended together and made them mesh. It was fast-paced enough to keep my attention, but also really helped me feel what the characters were feeling and thinking. I absolutely loved this book and can't wait for the sequel, Grave Desires!!
The characters in this story are wonderfully written. Complex, with flaws, utterly likeable. I simply cannot wait to see how the story and main characters develop. A word of caution: while this book has at times an easy light-hearted tone, it is definitely a dark paranormal story. In saying that, those grittier moments gave a whole new depth to the story and I found my heart-strings pulled tight for many a chapter. Kudos to the author.
Viola is the best character I have ever come across! I love her sass, her courage, and how tough she is. Her brother and assistant are great too! I really enjoyed the story. It kept me interested and suprising me! I cant wait for the next one.
I don't c claim to know a lot of words hence the triple wow! But I lived this book the characters are amazing, I love Vi and her brother Aaron, and little Lana who's story we are yet to know (but I know what I think....) and Ian oh Ian! I cried at this book not something I do often but it can be seen as a sure sign of the writing of this author. Please give this book a chance you won't regret it!
An eccentric and unique world with fascinating characters and storyline to match. This book is exciting and interesting. The main character provides readers with a unique and opposing ideal of who and what she is. It'll be satisfying to see where this series will go.
Loved reading Grave Things can’t wait until the second books comes out in October. Not you typical book about a exorcist. You have Viola, Aaron and Lana who are all family in one way or another the dynamics and love between all of them is wonderful. viola has more love in her than she knows. You feel everything she goes through as she exorcises demons and helps Ian. You love, laugh and cry.
01.02.2023: Started reading date! - It is 7:23 pm, and I am on the first chapter, first page, second sentence, and something stood out in not the best of ways, 'Speaking frantically, the Hindu woman needlessly led the way through her home in India.' I am hoping that this doesn't happen again because I find this to be very uncomfortable. 01.04.2023: I love it, so far this is very entertaining and different from what I am used to reading! I will go into more detail a little later today! 01.08.2023: Pacing is the only thing that got me throughout the book. It went from fast, action-packed to a dead stagnant stop. Other than that the characters were wonderful as well as the plot, I will be reading more from Lindsay! Oh also note, the adult scenes are graphic so if that isn't your thing I would suggest skipping those pages. All in all, read this! It is really a good fun exciting read with wonderful character-building. General reading rate: Three out of five stars Entertainment rating: Four out of five stars Spice: Three out of five peppers.

I chose this book because I think Lindsay is a talented writer. I devoured what is currently available from her Hunter Legend series so far and really wanted to read more of her work. Though this is not my normal type of read, Lindsay did once again draw me into the story. Her characters, particularly the secondary characters, add such depth. She beautifully blends reality with the super natural. Her knowledge of ancient texts and all things churchy is impressive and was very well used. By the time Grave Things ended, I really wanted to know what happens next.
So why two stars? I have a pretty good imagination and am just really not a fan of graphic sex scenes in the books I'm reading. I skipped multiple pages that I don't really feel added anything to an otherwise well told story. Unfortunately, I'll likely not follow the series because of this. Unless, of course a PG version gets released. ;) That I would be very interested in.
Not sure how I feel about the book...the plot was ok, a bit erratic, jumping from one thing to another. Felt like the story was like driving on a road full of potholes, you get used to the road when bam you're hit with pothole and the feeling continues. Some parts of the story felt like fillers, served no purpose for the plot as a whole. The romance was too cheesy to be believable, but made sense with the ending. Story had potential, just the delivery was not was up to my expectations. Will the next book though, interested to see how the plot develops because that was some sneak peak at the end.
I really enjoyed this book - in fact, I read it in one sitting and wanted much, much more. Lots of exciting action and a kickass heroine. The only thing that bumped it down to four stars was the repeated declaration that something was “cool” or “so cool” which for some reason pulled me right out of the story. But I’m going to go see what happens next because I’m invested in these characters!
Well this was a slow read for me at the beginning it eventually got better but then got all kinds of messed up. I don't expect a hea but really that was cruel.
As a first-time paranormal romance reader.... This was an amazing way to kick off my new adventure. I found myself saying, "Just one more chapter" till the end!
If you're looking for a book that features a main female badass character then look no further. Grave Things is about Viola Danvers exorcist adventures are accompanied by her close friend Lana and her step-brother Aaron. If you want some romance to break up all of the action that is in this book then you've got that too in the addition of Ian Grave, a scotsman after Vi's heart.
This novel does present strong characters and even the side characters seem to be people that you'd meet in everyday life. However, I feel that the structure of the story is a little off. Although it was enjoyable to read and a fast paced one too but some of it felt too long and other sections felt too rushed. For example, the romance between Ian and Vi felt too stretched out but then felt too rushed at the same time. It seemed that the main plot at the beginning of the novel with Ian's house seemed to be on the sidelines and I didn't know when the author would get back to it.
Another example for the rushed story structure of the plot is that of the ending. Of course I will not mention any plot details in case of spoiling any future readers but I did feel that Ian's character was cut off quickly when he could have been developed throughout the series. However, I have no knowledge of what the future books in the series will reveal so I don't want to pick out too many points since these maybe explained in future books.
Speaking of future books Grave Desires which is book two in the series has just been completed and I am eagerly anticipating its release. Although I may have had a couple of issues with the first book I am interested and intrigued to see how these characters will develop and what storylines will come out of the next few books. This was a fast paced read that allowed me to finish Grave Things in record time. I loved spending time with Viola's group of misfits and will be waiting eargly to spend more time with them in the rest of the series.
