She Persisted

Rate this book
Kathy Crabb Hannah wrote her first book at age 58. She thought it was a whim, a journal of sorts for her grandchildren. However, her story continues to add unexpected chapters. The Crabb Family stories were familiar to us. We know about the beautiful blended family, that s built on love not blood, we know about the hardships that Kathy walked through in her first release, Stronger. We read of the near death experience of her youth. We read of the miracles and the Jesus moments that changed lives and destinies. We knew that the road she walked was strewn with the unusual. Stronger released to an audience that was anxious to read and walk through the stories. They loved the roller coaster of the tears and laughs. But nothing prepared the reader or the author for what happened NEXT. The day that Kathy Crabb Hannah decided that a story was worth writing was the day that the devil became nervous. Her writing style is raw and sometimes painfully honest. She dares others to find their own truths. As a result, the world of women s ministry has a new kid in town. Stronger Retreats were birthed from the book that became a movement. For those who think God is winding your OWN life down as you approach retirement age, I dare you to read She Persisted! This book is a testimony that our latter can be greater than our former. Just when we think God is finished, He writes a whole new chapter in our book of life! This book takes us behind the scenes and dares us to believe for a miracle. If you are wondering if God can do what you NEED Him to do? This is your read. Take the journey.

The title grabbed my intention. When I picked the book up and read the back cover I thought...this is it. It resonated with me. I shared it on my social media platforms and stated this is it ladies! What a great storyteller Kathy is. She pulled me right into the story. I stayed up late reading. I couldn't wait until lunchtime so I could slip off by myself and read just a few more words. I was inspired to reach out to some broken sisters, I was interested in looking into one of her conferences, I really heard God speaking to me that just because I was middle aged now didn't mean He wouldn't use me. The very next chapter Fire on the Mountain I felt Kathy slapped me in my face.

All of a sudden I was reading a political rant. It wasn't just I support this person but it was vicious attacks and lies about the other "baby-killing" side. WAIT WHAT?! What happened to praying, speaking in tongues, the laying on of hands, miracles, deliverances? This went on that entire chapter and how she and all those that were praying for the current outcome would prevail and how God answered their prayers as if those who were praying that it wouldn't happen had actually prayed weaker prayers.

Well what about all of us "sisters" who don't look like or have political beliefs like you? So what if I don't have the same political views?! Are only "sisters" with Kathy's political views welcomed?! I felt like I was tricked and as I read it I realized you didn't even care if someone had different views you felt free to belittle their views and feeling.

I started researching and saw from social media post exactly what I had gathered from those chapters. It was also strange to me that even though this book was released in May that NO ONE had written a review on Amazon or here on Goodreads. But I understand now why because I bet many were shocked.

I shared my feelings with a friend and she and I came to the conclusion I owed my followers a disclaimer and an apology. It is not my intention to hurt another sister but I feel I needed to speak out for some other sisters who may have been hurt. This is was not ok.

Kathy's second book is mostly filled with snippets of her life; less biography and more testimonies. However, the last chapter is really the whole point of the book. While I enjoyed reading about her stories, her family, her arguments and partnerships with the Lord, that last chapter came right out of left field. I don't know quite how to put it, but the best way to describe it is "a badly needed punch in the gut". Oh, and once again, the whole book is written in her laid-back, Southern Granny style; almost lyrical, always entertaining.

As a Christian woman, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I laughed at so many moments but I also cried at many as well. I truly believe I read this book at this time for a reason, not to be named here. If you’re facing struggles in your life, the message in this book is clear..keep going, persistence is key!

I couldn’t put this book down. Kathy’s life has been messy but that only helped spotlight God and his power to put all things together and do it completely. Her life story and testimony really inspired me to pray BIG prayers and expect BiG results to those prayers.

I love Kathy and the Crabb Family! I love this book too. I laughed, cried, and felt conviction to do more and pray differently. This is a Kathy’s story of how God provided for her and her family.
