The Day My Father Killed Me

Rate this book
The bond between a mother and son is a bond like no other; but the bond fifteen-year-old Micah shared with his mom Noelle, went far beyond that. Having to witness his mother being abused at the hands of her husband for years, he appointed himself her protector; which led to him enduring the same fate. Vowing to protect his mother until his dying breath, Micah had no clue the day would come as soon as it did; and at the hands of his own father.

This was so sad! My heart went out to the mother and son! I don’t want to spoil it so I will stop right now.

This was a sad sad book! Domestic violence is nothing to play with or take lightly. I was really rooting for this mother and son. It sent me into such a tailspin. I had book hangover after reading this story. Just had to stop and think and thank God that it was only fiction. My heart is heavy for everyone that deals with domestic abuse or any abuse for that matter. I took a star off for the editing . I would recommend this book 📚

Fast paced read as Micah Jr. recounted his experience living with his mom & abusive father. Minor errors. Detailed & sad, this story did show the love Jr. & his mom shared.

Omg this book was straight fire off the rip. This book was definitely a case of man don’t want woman to leave no matter if it’s his fault or not. Thank god she had her son with her because her damn husband was a damn psychopath he didn’t need to be using those drugs that made him feel like he was the truth knowing damn well he was dead wrong. See abuse is never okay no matter what he was the call for the chaos that was going on in their marriage. Their son was the real MVP he took care of his mom until his dying day. This story is going to touch you in all the right ways listen never be afraid to get away from a abusive person no matter what. The life you say may be you own or your children. Great job on this book.

Another Head Banger

I have every book Shameek wrote. Actually started buying the paperback books. This book, the story line REAL! This is REAL LIFE situations. I love Noel aka Noey, 💪🚺 with an even stronger son. I'm most definitely about to start on this next novel Shameek Speight just wrote No One Loves You. If you haven't read Fetish, you better read it. He's about to put out pt.2. I'm so ready for Black Ice Daughter pt.2. Again Shameek Speight you keep writing an I'll keep buying.

Soooo fuqqking sad omg.. Smh at real life

This stuff happens everyday.. This was a good but terrible read meaning it hurts to the core that people have to live with situations like this some stay but the few that trys to make it out why is this half of the people that do outcome.. It's not fair. So sad so fuqqking sad.. It's crazy how some men just can't let go and don't care who they hurt in the process even if it's and innocent child. Their own child at that.. :,0(

Tears

I would give this book FIVE STARS but I can't because of the grammatical errors and the many flash backs that had me confused at one point where in time did they go. But the ending came together and it was so touching. For a father to kill a part of himself is selfish and psychopathic. It had me in tears at the end. I just wish the mother was in a committed relationship with someone who really loves her, but this ending was amazing!

Sad

I know that this book is very short, but it’s a must read. The courage of this young man to protect his mother at any cost was heartbreaking. Even though the grammar was awful, and a lot of times I had to try and make out what the author was trying to say, it was worth it. Kudos to you!!! And I would read anything that you write. Get someone to proof read before printing, and you could move to my top 5. 😉😉

Speechless

I read this before bed last night. I had to wait until today to leave my review though. Not cause it wasn't good. As a matter of fact it was a great read. One of the best that I've read this year alone. I was so pissed at the cowardly bastard. Because he feels less than a man that he would beat his family. Then to take his own life? Why not just walk away? If you aren't happy ✌🏿 BYE!!!!!

Domestic violence is so real.

I know this is only a very good story, but I can't help but think that some mother and son might have really experienced this and worse. I'm glad the laws are being changed as far as spouses being able to easily find their families after situations like this. I was so hoping they made it out but Jr was a stand up young man. I loved it.

Amazing!

This man is a fantastic writer. He places you right in the middle of the room, spinning around to see whose going to do something next. His descriptions are so vivid, you're on the floor with the child urging him on. I've read many of this author's books and he never lets you down.

Wow

This book made me happy, angry, scared, and sad. I hate the way he didn't get to live out his life. So many children are out in that situation and it is not always a happy ending. Over all the book was great and I hope a lot of people read this and understand that going back is not always good

O*M*G

That was a great short read. I felt so bad for Noel and her son. Micah was a good child but endured and experienced a lot of pain emotionally, physically and mentally. The father was a BEAST!!! I didn't think it would end like it did. This book was phenomenal and I hope it inspires people to get help in similar situations.

Wow

First time reading this author and I was getting confused on all the flashbacks. But then I realized MJ was having flashes on everything he remembered that happened up to his death. The story is so real and sad. He was a brave young man who was a protector of his mom. He died saving his favorite girl 😧😧.

This was an interesting read

I read this book in one day. That father (Micah) pissed me off. The abuse they had to endure, horrible. That sister of hers she got on my nerves too. I hated how it ended, I guess I knew how it would end it was in the title, but with the father he was a coward. There were a few grammatical errors, but overlooking that was still an intense story.

If this man can call himself a man I swear this world is over. My heart broke page after page for this family who didn’t seem to get a break for not one minute. I do admire the strength of mother and son until the very end. Very good read and touching. 👏

Micah was a crappy human being. No mother and son should have to endure what Noel and MJ went through.MJ was a brave and selfless who paid the ultimate price for his mother to have a chance at life.Definite tear jerker.

Well....

This book is a quick read. There are some spelling mistakes but they don’t overshadow the story that is told. I cried in the middle. I am so happy that the author decided not to make this novella gruesome like the rest. Sad ending but overall good read.

Great read

This was so sad but good. I hate that Micah Sr was so hateful and blind to the true effects of crack in regards to his thinking and behavior. Micah Jr. Is just a little hero and although he proudly traded his life for his mother's reading his death made me tear up. Shameek Speight, you sir never disappoint. Good read

This was a tear jerker. Abuse happens just about every day in this world. MJ was a strong young man who wanted to protect his mom. The book had errors, but did not take away from the story. Good read.

So sad!

I fell in love with MJ’s character. He had to endure so much at such an young age, and paid with his life. MJ was the epitome of strength, while Micah ruined his family life. If only he could’ve gotten help with his PTSD.

All I can say is WOW

I was hesitant to buy this book but I kept seeing it posted in n Facebook and decided to give it a try and I am so glad that I did. It’s a powerful story and it was real, a little too real but that’s why it was so good.

This was really good short story. If not for the atrocious lack of editing, it would have gotten the last star. The story itself reminded me of those they play on the ID network. It was graphic but realistic. Good read.

OMG!! Wasn’t expecting the ending

Even with the title and all the horrific abuse inside the story, I wasn’t prepared for the ending, so sad that I couldn’t even grasp the small hint of lightness at the very end
