When Prince Calrian wakes from a three hundred year sleep, he doesn’t expect to be alone. He certainly doesn’t expect to be woken by a human. In order to regain his energy and shift into his dragon form, he needs to bond with someone, but a human could never understand what he requires.
Single mother Rylee has enough on her plate. When her eleven-year-old son, Rowan brings home a strange man he found asleep in a canyon, she’s determined to keep her distance. She’s just escaped one controlling relationship, she certainly doesn’t need another.
But the pull she feels for him is not only unmistakable, it could be deadly. For both of them.
Trusting the Dragon is Part 1 in the Dragon Shores serial.
Rinelle Grey is no stranger to alternate lifestyles. She grew up in a variety of different homes, including a riverside shack with no electricity or running water, and even a tent. She and her sister spent their childhood chasing goats, climbing trees, eating peas and corn out of their mother’s vegetable garden, and occasionally rushing to get their correspondence school work in on time. Despite the difficulties of this lifestyle, she wouldn’t swap it for all the luxuries in the world (though she is rather fond of her running hot water and indoor plumbing now!)
She met her husband in ‘Family Therapy’, an elective they were both taking as part of their psychology degrees. It took several years for them to get together, in fact, their roleplaying characters got together before they did!
They married on the beach at sunrise in 2002, two months after Rinelle popped the question.
Although she had always loved to write, it wasn’t until her daughter was about eighteen months old that Rinelle started writing seriously. Probably not the best stage in terms of having spare time! And time only became scarcer when her daughter gave up her day sleep six months later. But by then, Rinelle had well and truly caught the writing bug, finding time somehow to continue with her passion. Her fast typing speed learnt from spending way too much time chatting on IRC, and the investment in an iPad when they came out, helped immensely.
Rinelle now lives on acreage with her husband and homeschooled daughter. In her spare time, she sells stock photography through an online site to support her family, and is hoping that writing will be able to add to that.

When I started this series, I didn't realize it's an ongoing story about the same couple. I wish I had. This first book is okay, but it's very short and barely gets the story started. This is not a series I'll continue because it's just "okay" for me.
Ryleen unwittingly touched him and gets enmeshed in the dragon's plight. Great tale of doing what's best for her son and her desire of the hot Dragon in need.
I should start off by saying that I should have read more of the reviews. This should say it is Part 1, as this is a cliff hanger short story. I typically do not read partials. I am too impatient to find out what is going to happen. I gave it 3⭐️ because it held my attention enough to read parts 2 & 3. However it is still not complete. 😞 There is a lot of repetition in explaining the Mesemer Bond between the H and h. So much that large portions can be skimmed because it doesn’t give any new information. Depending on how long it takes for the next one to be released will determine if I end up finishing this series.
Trusting the Dragon by Rinelle Grey is the first book in the Dragon Shores Series. Note: this review contains spoilers! Dragons have been waking up from their Mesmer sleep and bonding with humans. Adult humans. But Prince Calrian doesn’t get woken up by an adult but by a boy. A boy with no power to finish the healing process but who has a mother who can. This starts the most different wakening episode. Calrian knows he can’t finish the healing process if he doesn’t bond with an adult. He can mate with them or touch them and remain in close contact until his strength is back. He can tell Rowen’s mother Rylee doesn’t want him there even if he can’t speak English yet. He wants to ask her permission but can’t. When Rylee grabs his hand, the decision is taken out of his hands. So we are left with Calrian, a dragon recovering from the Mesmer sleep; Rylee, a single mom who isn’t too trusting of any male, let alone one who claims he’s a dragon; and Rowen, a young boy who wants a father. How will our unlikely trio finish their story? I really like that this story line is so different from the others. I already love the characters and can’t wait to see what happens next!

We met Calrian and his daughter in Ostrian's story and now he goes back to his waking in his mesmer chamber. He is very weak and confused as ti why a young human Rowan can wake him. He needs a woman in order to fully heal from the last battle and to be able to communicate with these humans. Young Rowan takes him home to Mom Rylee, with a single touch the mesmer bond takes hold. Will Rylee believe Calrian.
So far i like this story I just wish it wasn't in segments as I want the answers to my questions now. Their immediate attraction or just the mesmer bond. I like how this story is unfolding. I cannot wait to find out how this story ends. I voluntarily read an advance copy and have not been compensated in any way for this opinion.
When Calrian meets Rylee he knows she is his mate. Rylee feels the pull to him but just can't figure out why, she has never reacted to a man like this before! Rylee knows something is not right with him and he finally tells her the truth, he is a dragon shifter. She throws him out of her home, thinking him to be crazy. Rylee finds herself ill all night, a sign her mate is not close enough. Could he be right? Is she crazy?
While I did like this story, I did not know it was a continuing story so the story has no real "end" to it. This disappointed me :(
Calrian is in the present, telling is brothers and sisters about what happened to him 25 years ago when he was awoken from the Mesmer sleep. Rowan found him and took him to his mom, Rylee. She just got out of a relationship and is leary of trusting any man. Especially when he starts talking about dragons and magic bonds. This is a nice, short beginning story. I can't wait to find out what happens next!
This was a pretty good read. I enjoyed the characters, their personalities, the emotions, a little steaminess, some suspense, and a good but not full ending. I didn't read the description fully, I guess. This is a serial and does leave you kinda hanging. I totally want to know what happens next and would like to read more, but it's not going to be a S&R at this point for me. Great for the quick escape that still leaves you wondering what's gonna happen next. Enjoy!
I was given this book for an honest review! This is Prince Calrian story about how he was woken & how he met Rylee , Rowan's mother. Rowan took Calrian home after waking him from his deep sleep. Rylee was worried because he had been out for a long time & was always being home injured animals, she was not expecting him to bring home a man. Looking forward to the next installment!
I liked how the little boy finds him and brings him home without being able to understand what he is saying. When his mom touches him, he is able to understand them but his honor won't let him take advantage of her. I love the new twist where their bond makes it where they have to stay close to each other.
Calrian has woken but not by a member of his clan a human child has woken him and takes him to his mother who then helps him . The story is only just beginning but it was good though short.
Got this book during a free period for it on Amazon. The story was good but didn't do my research to realize it was only part one. Otherwise it was ok.
It's a good book, decent story, written well, but it does end on a cliffhanger. Some things are left vague, feels like some stuff could have been expanded on.
This is part one of a serial and it begins Calrian's story. Awoken into a strange world he struggles to understand what has happened. Riley is the second human he's ever met, the first was her son. Trust is the theme in this instalment and it takes until the end of the story for the foundation to set.
