“Kicked the heck outa a bunch of dark mages, fought a werewolf, started a soup kitchen for the homeless and sorted all my trash for recycling. And that was before lunch. Tonight, I’m going to take on a group of mercenaries and an army of demon spawn. So, if you need the impossible done and you have nowhere else to turn, call me. Sholto ‘Hex’ Gunn, warrior mage for hire. But bear in mind, the best don’t come cheap and I don’t do no charity work. Don’t insult me by asking for a discount.”
Someone is calling up a demon army and Father Cooney has enlisted Hex to stop them. Unfortunately, the demons aren’t the only thing that Hex has to worry about, he’s pissed off a billionaire who has hired a private army to take him out with extreme prejudice.
But what they all didn’t realize is … you push Hex and he pushes back. Real hard.

Not as enjoyable as the first, for two much religion and very very bad things happening to babies. Could have done without that.
Other than those two things, another great and fun book. Hex isn't for everyone. He's one of the most arrogant characters I can think of, he even is more arrogant than Eli Monpress, and that's saying something. At least Eli doesn't refer to himself in 3rd person.
I think the appeal for me, is I usually read books where everyone is perfect and goody two-shoes. Hex, like Eli, is a refreshing change of pace for me, so instead of his arrogance pissing me off, it just makes me laugh. And he does have a heart, it just takes a while to see it.
Once I started this book I couldn't put it down till I finished it and now I'm about too download the next one on the series. Three was so much action and so many twists that you just have to keep reading to find out what's going to happen next. This book take you through many emotions; you laugh, you cry, you get angry, but you stay interested. Love it!
Enjoyed this. Still enjoy the relationship between Hex and Adedayo, as well as the introduction to Adedayo's great great great grandmother. The audio-book's narrator might also be responsible for my take on the self-effacing humor and connections between the characters.
The main line in the story is beginning to hit up and this instalment delivered every thing it promised. I cannot wait to start the next,t book and see where that adventure games the reader. I highly recommend.
I liked the book, even if it felt somewhat more excited than the last one, sometimes with a bit of forced excitement, but I enjoyed it. I already have my eye on the next one.
