An upcoming wedding, a disappearing body, and three totally smitten cats. Price Jones, with the help of her three furry housemates and spirited landlady, has finally launched her thrift shop and juicebar. But when a dead body appears then disappears from their favorite neighborhood coffee spot, mayhem sweeps through Salem once again.
With the wedding of her douchebag ex-fiancee looming ahead, Price Jones has enough on her mind besides solving yet another suspicious disappearance.
But with the guys at her side, her new and improved self is ready to take on just about anything... even if she has to put on a dress to do it.
A hilariously witchy reverse harem mystery.
Don't miss the third book in bestselling authors N.M. Howell and L.C. Hibbett’s hilarious new Cats, Ghosts, and Avocado Toast! Who knew clean eating could be so messy?

"Cozy mystery and RH all in one book! Does it get any better?" ★★★★★
N.M. Howell is a USA Today bestselling author and all-around nerd from the Pacific Northwest. She has an obsession with coffee, spicy food, and the rain, and she absolutely hates sleeves. (Seriously, they're like little fabric prisons!) When not locked away in her writing cave, you'll likely find her either wandering the world, lost in the woods, or fighting with her micro-wolf pup over who gets the best spot on the couch. Hint: the dog wins.
So I’ve lowered my star rating from the previous books on this one, and here’s why: We have come into a situation where the author seems to be going out of their way to avoid sex at all costs...which is okay....but when the MC ends an encounter, but then is disappointed when the guy follows her lead? Well now we’ve ventured into the territory of wish-washy, vapid territory.
The grammatical errors are still ever present, but still tolerable, the cute mysteries are still just that...cute (and pretty predictable). The relationship building? Kind of faltering due to the fact you have adults not actually progressing.
Annnnnd the fade to black ending had me like 🤦♀️
All in all, it was okay. I’ll stick around for another book if there’s going to be one, but if there isn’t any actual development I’ll probably drop it after that.
This series could be good. However it lacks a good proofreader/editor and the author left a lot of unanswered questions. This was the 3rd book in the series. While I liked the story line in this book best, the spelling errors, misused words and missing words made me want to give up. I'm glad I finished it but I would have liked to have answers on Tom, Agatha and Dot's business just to name a few.
OK. I have read all 3 books now. I'm totally invested in this series. I've read a LOT of steamy paranormal romance reverse harems and I usually complain because they are all sex and no story. But this one is a great story but no sex. Seriously no sex. Soooo I liked the idea of a slow burn but come on. Someone needs to mention that it's a pg-13 series to those of us expecting a little more. So I'm kinda bumfuzzeled on how to write this review.
The story 5 stars as a clean read. The characters 5 stars - I loved them all The humor 5 stars The Steam factor a 1. Seriously the jokes are dirtier than the bed room scenes. SMH
SOOOO the question is do I still recommend this series. Yes. BUT as a reverse harem no. It clearly needs stated it's a pg-13 at most rated R series.
Also the same grammar errors as all the previous books are in this one. Seriously she needs an editor. These are simple mistakes. Ayone can see them. Words that don't belong at all, some words not there at all. Ugh. Please take the time to edit!
This was, by far, the best book out of the series. I'm actually pretty bummed it ended here because it was finally getting good. The "mystery" was actually a tad deeper this time around with appropriate foreshadowing, etc. I liked getting some more out of Bert and Bianca as well.
Overall: 3.8/5 - My rating might've been a little higher but the errors were pretty bad in this one especially and I'm still bitter the series leaves off like this. The characters are finally all getting good and it goes unfinished. Sounds about my luck. And for fuck's sake why do we still not know Pussy's real name?!
Fun read. Entertaining universe. Can’t wait to see more from this author.
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
Terrific. I presume that the revised copy doesn't have all the proofing errors that this one had. When she finds out that Dot had a frozen corpse land on her, she suspects that Dot has been set up especially when the corpse vanishes before the police get there. How did that happen? As she and her three cat/men try to identify the body all pictures going missing too. Now she has to attend the wedding reception weekend for her dirt bag ex-fiance. Can she and her three hunky find the real killer? Identify the body? Get the better of her ex and his catty new bride-to-be. Great read and the characters are really starting to blossom.
What a fun read. I just love a good reverse harum story and when those hot guys also turn out to be pretty little "kitty Kat's". Price (Priscilla) Jones and her three cats live a pretty boring life except for the fact that those same three cats turn into three drop dead beautiful men. Pussy, Tom, and Finn are recipients of a spell that a witch named Agatha Bentley placed on them. Agatha is dead now but she has not "gone gently into the good night" but is still hanging around with the other witches in Salem Oregon. One of those witches, Dot has found a dead woman in the freezer at the coffee shop that she owns. By the time the police get there the body has disappeared. I received an advanced copy of this book and chose to review it.
The innuendo is strong in this one. But then it’s been a strong component in every book in the series so far. I love our collection of wacky main characters. They keep me engaged and laughing through the whole story. And I loved that we get pieces of one more “cat”s past. (I still want a proper name, dang-nabbit!) I’m a little torn by the mystery in this book. It didn’t feel quite as integrated as the others have been. However, it’s set the stage for some potentially diabolic future stories. The slow build has been fun but frustrating. I’m not sure yet whether I loved or hated the “fade to black” at the end. I can’t wait to see what’s coming next. I received a complimentary copy of this book.
Ok so this book was good filled with that slow burn kind of romance, mystery, comedy and action. We slowly get more answers and history filled in but there's still plenty left that needs to be answered and discovered. I can't wait to see what else we learn about all of our characters and what happens next. The only negative I. This whole book was there were aa handful of grammar issues like a wrong word of a missing word but they weren't so bad as to seriously detract from anything. This story ended on a happily for now note and not to ruin anything but at the end I was definitely left wanting more, more details, more story, more everything. But seriously details woman details! Overall good book would recommend, can't wait for the next one.
A Devilish Disappearance: A hilariously witchy reverse harem mystery (Cats, Ghosts, and Avocado Toast Book 3) was written by N.M. Howell and L.C. Hibbett. Price has launched her juice bar in the thrift shop. When she goes to her favorite coffee spot, she finds out that there was a body found in the back freezer. However, by the time the cops get there, the body has disappeared. Then, she receives an invitation to her ex's wedding. He's marrying the girl he was cheating with when he was engaged to her. Overall, this was another great addition to the series. There is more character development with the cats. We also learn more about the witches. I hope that in the next novel Price's backstory is developed more and we find out that she's also some sort of witch.
Price Jones picks up her life right where it ended in Book 2. By now, Price, her three men cats, and Agatha have become a family and they have grown closer. The family evolves even as we learn more about Pussy’s previous life and Bianca and Dot (Agatha’s coven sisters) play major roles in this book.
There is a lot of story building which slows down the pace, but it is essential to the development of the characters and resolution of the main plot line where Dot is accused of murder.
Definitely need to read the previous books to fully understand a lot of the story.
I absolutely love this series!! Cozy mystery with RH!! The best of both genres! Price is getting closer and more intimate with each of the guys/cats as well as with Aggie and Dot, and even with Bert and Bianca. Of course, they’re wrapped up in trouble and another mystery...all at the same time as Price’s ex’s wedding. Amazing how creeps are all tied together. Loved this book and sure hope there are more coming!
Ok, now the mystery is getting good. A real bad guy is in play and the three older witches (one is a ghost) are getting more game time. Their real personalities, strengths and weaknesses are coming out. Also the reverse harem's personalities and backgrounds are starting to emerge. I particularly liked this book because it takes the heroine back to her ex-fiance's nuptials. She gets some needed closure plus more. Great book.
Loved it! What a sweet and funny series. I’ve never read a series where there was no, ahem, Olympics (for lack of a better word, gotta keep it G) and I am honestly here for it. The story is good and doesn’t have to rely on high velocity sporting events (gotta keep the analogy up) to carry it. I’m going to miss Price, Finn, Tom, Pussy and Agatha and solving the magical mysteries of Salem.
WELCOME TO MAGIC CRAZY TOWN! Fun, sometimes furry, depending on how much magic Agatha (the witch ghost with amnesia) has found. 3 men/cats that so far have dodged neutering. Dot the darling witch everyone loves ends up holding the corpse. And then they attend the wedding from hell of bridzilla to the ex fiancee. What could possibly go wrong? Loved this. I want more! Recommended read🤓
If you care what people think of you don't read this in public!☺ I couldn't keep from bursting out. My cat looked at me kinda strange a few times (i woke him up). Seriously, if you like a bit of laughter to go with your hunks/witches, this series is for you! I sure hope there's more. It ended just when it finally heated up!
I am so happy I found this trip of books! This was definitely one of the most interesting, unexpected storyline that I wouldn't have missed for anything! I wish there was another one to move into but I can always hope. Definitely have found another awesome author to my favorites!! 😍
I truly hope there's more because this series is shaping up to be quite interesting. That said for all we discovered about Pussy's life we didn't learn his name, so I'm a bit disappointed by that. I love the character growth in Bianca and Bert. I love the way Price, her cats and her ghost are becoming a real family. I can't wait to learn more.
I was getting impatient! 3 hunks and all the flirting...when was someone going to pounce?? I have to say Bianca is growing on me, she was the only character I didn't fully like. Now, I see her in a different light. The authors need to hurry up and finish the next one. Tom needs to know who he is. Oh, and why do we still not know Puh C. Cat's real name??
Price is getting used to the cats changing into hot men. Agatha's powers are returning stronger as she ties up the loose ends that she hadn't fixed before she died. Dot and Bianca are the other 2 members of Agatha's coven and now they are in trouble. I highly recommend this book and series.
Nice fluff series. I read all three books this week and enjoyed it. It’s not very sexually graphic (between a PG-13 & R, really) and it appears they never finished writing this series- we don’t get Aggy’s resolution…that was the biggest bummer. If you can let go of the idea of completion, it’s good fluff.
Hello new and better life. Price and her men are finally moving forward. We still need to find out Tom's past life but we are getting there in here and now. Price is also finally giving into what she truly wants.
Entertaining and enjoyable. Great story line with a few small mysteries within the main mystery. The " cats " are hilarious and lovable. Am definitely looking forward to the next installment in the series. Great author, fantastic read!
This book was for sure really funny and will grab you in itself from First pages. Price had opened Her trift shop and now tries to Run it in The middle of everything. Her three cats-men are still in a Great shape and are Great humour to The story. This story was nice funny one.
I'd liked how this story went and poor puss at least he changed.the friends she made and how close they all became and love the 3 cat mean and her ghost. I hope another one is coming and tom story.
I loved this book. I loved how all the characters interacted with each other and how Price always seemed to be in the middle of a mess that she never caused. I would definitely recommend this book.
The characters are certainly interesting and the dialogue if filled with innuendo and a degree of vulgarity. The story is funny and the mystery is not really solved, so one has to wonder if there will be additional books.
This book will make you laugh until you cry. Quite a few people reserve some much needed karmic retribution. This author is sassy, hilarious, and captivating. I'm becoming quite obsessed with Price and her little harem.
