The Last War #5

The Killing Fields

Rate this book
Nicholas Platt walks into an international sales conference unaware that he’s just set foot on ground zero of the impending apocalypse. Forced into a high-octane battle for survival, Nick and three strangers fight to endure the clutches of a multi-layered nightmare, an apocalyptic nightmare too diabolical for even the machines to fathom. From the famed San Diego Conference Center to the waters of the Pacific Ocean to a charming little island in Newport Beach, this edge-of-your-seat, post-apocalyptic thriller pits Indigo’s father, Nick, against not only the machines, but against the twisted eccentricities of man. In the end, The Killing Fields will beg the question: when the world is burning, who will be more ferocious, artificial intelligence or the humans?

The fall of civilization to the machines has never been more real…

The President of the United States realizes he’s caught in the middle of a coup d’état when members of his cabinet and his security detail turn on him. Instead of forces foreign and domestic trying to steal the seat of power, the President learns humans are in league with artificial intelligence in a worldwide takeover involving something called The Silver Queen. For those who wondered how the EMPs came to be, what the AI God is and how the world quickly descended into a post-apocalyptic hot zone, The Killing Fields will answer those questions.

I just read this whole 6 book apocalyptic series. It is a great series and I am now waiting on the final book to see how it all ends. The books give us many different people in many different areas of the country and then brings them all together in an unbelievable, but believable way. There are some problems with syntax and a some words are in the wrong place and some are repeated. But I am not here to talk about editing, because the truth is it does not affect or detract from the story which I can not seem to put down.

Tantalizing!!

This whole series is a fantastic read. So many things to think about that I never paid attention to before. Characters are captivating. And now another twist that has me on pins and needles until Book 6 comes out!

Still enjoying the ride.

I find it enjoying the way new characters are brought forth with new circumstances. Quite inventive. Each of the books could use more editing but this one is the best shape of all of them so far.

Really did not enjoy this one as much as the others. Felt like the president chapters where boring. Loved the plot of the other stories and LOVE all the characters. Easily becoming one of my favorite series of all time

The killing fields

Really good series full of action and fast paced . Technology is taking over the world . People are dying and not only because of the machines. It's survival of the fittest . I would definitely recommend this series.

Great series and great book!

This is a really great series. Each group of characters, I'm invested in and need to know what's next. The writing is professional, which I love because grammar and typos, though understandable, distract me alot. I'm sad there's only two more left.

Great Adventure

It's all about the personalities. Well developed multi track story lines. Book is part of a series, but it serves as a stand alone novel too.

I liked book 5..I think maybe they should just have 2 books instead of 7 in the series..combine seven into 2.
