I firmly believe that gratitude for what we have boosts our mental state, but this book presents it based on that "God wants you to be rich" scheme, so the greedy can feel good about themselves. Ugh. If this had been a physical book, and not an ebook, I would have trashed it.

A very easy to read book filled with thoughtful and simple exercises. It has great information. It referenced one researcher and that researcher's works quite frequently, leading me to wonder if I should have gone directly to that author's works, which is why I gave this 4 stars. Otherwise, this was a good book, and helpful.

I will try again another time

Disappointing. This guy arrogantly tells the reader what there is to be grateful for! I'm appalled. He preaches his own brand of spirituality and picks and chooses research that backs up his belief system, quoting only the research that gates with his worldview. This made the book into his own personal gratitude journal and story. It was not the joyful encouragement towards finding our individual path of grateful living. I felt force fed. I realize I had expectations; and I have very definite ideas about people living their own life paths and find proselytizing irritating even when I happen to share beliefs with the "preacher". I realize and embrace gratitude as the base for a happy life and for me, a spiritual base, so I wanted to read about developing my own 'gratitude muscles.' I will do that and then maybe come back to this book, as I do share many of his beliefs and perspectives. Right now, I cannot deal with the presentation. Gratitude is wide open....for that I'm thankful. There are many paths to living a grateful life. I encourage everyone to live with what works for them.

Thought provoking

Honestly I didn't expect much. I didn't really think I could read anything new or fresh about gratitude seeing as how I've been using it for about two years but I was pleasantly surprised to be wrong. There's good info here and great ways to apply it. A must read.

Wow! Did not expect this freebie to be so good. Really inspirational. Exactly what I needed to hear; what I am missing in my life. I've been so focused on the negative that I have forgotten how much I have to be thankful for...

A new virtue for me to practice. I do believe it will make a difference.

Grateful

I recently challenged myself to write in my gratitude journal every day. So, when I saw this book, I thought it was perfect. I enjoyed reading it and the exercises at the end of every chapter were helpful.

Inspiring and Eye Opening

The Gratitude Effect is more than a "feel good book." The concept is explained in a way that relates to daily living. Being grateful in all circumstances becomes a way of life. I enjoyed that the author included Biblical references.
