This is the second book that I have written until now, the first being ‘Nath Ha Maza’, a memoir of my beloved husband, the late Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar. This book gave me a different identity.Today, I am once again presenting my written work, this time it is a collection of sixteen articles. Each article portrays a ‘subject’ including Jayprabha Studio.My subject for one of the articles is my ‘mother’. It is because of her that I am what I am. The second prominent place in my life goes to my dear husband Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar. The remaining members portrayed here have entered my life and have left a permanent mark on my mind. They all are very near and dear to me. I experience being tied to them all with a strong yet delicate bond. It is a bond from which I have no intention of freeing myself, today or tomorrow.All these personalities have proved themselves in their respective areas for quite a long period. My articles are not in any way to measure their success or victories. Rather, my writing just expresses my innermost feelings for them and the impression they all have made upon me. Each article is an impulsive and genuine expression of my thoughts and spirit towards each one of them. All these eminent personalities have been a boon to my living. They have undoubtedly showered upon me-their love, their goodness, their concern… I have no words to pay gratitude. Rather, I prefer to remain indebted to all of them. What I am today is the combined effect of their presence in my life. They have enhanced the qualities of my life.

कांचन घाणेकर यांचं हे दुसरं पुस्तक. 'नाथ हा माझा' नंतर तब्बल दहा वर्षांनी लिहिलेलं. त्यांच्या आयुष्यात त्यांना भावलेल्या, त्यांच्या मनावर ठसा उमटून गेलेल्या साधारण पंधरा-सोळा व्यक्तींचे चित्रण यात केलेले आहे. पण हे लेख त्या व्यक्तींच्या पूर्ण आयुष्याचं किंवा कर्तृत्वाचं चित्रण नसून लेखिकेला त्यांचा सहवास लाभल्यावर आलेले हे अनुभव आहेत .

सुलोचनादीदी (लेखिकेची आई आणि प्रसिद्ध अभिनेत्री), Dr. काशिनाथ घाणेकर, लता मंगेशकर आणि त्यांच्या आई - माई मंगेशकर, भालजी पेंढारकर, ललिता पवार, लेखक रणजित देसाई, ग.दि.माडगूळकर, सतीश दुभाषी, राजा परांजपे यांवरचे लेख छान आहेत. त्याव्यतिरिक्त चंद्रकांत मांडरे, Dr. सरोजिनी वैद्य (लेखिकेच्या मराठी विषयाच्या प्राध्यापिका), दत्तात्रय मायाळू, मधू आपटे, लीला गांधी आणि जयप्रभा स्टुडिओ यांवरही लेख आहेत. हे सर्व कलावंत आधीच्या पिढीचे. ज्यांच्याबद्दल आपल्याला माहिती आहे त्यांच्यावरचे लेख वाचताना छान वाटतं, नाहीतर पुस्तक अधेमधे कंटाळवाणं होतं.

कांचन घाणेकर यांची भाषाशैली खूप छान, साधं सोपं सुंदर मराठी आणि थोडं तपशिलात लिहिण्याची त्यांची शैली. काही व्यक्तींबद्दल google वर जास्त माहिती उपलब्ध नाहीये, किंवा त्यांच्या व्यक्तिगत आयुष्याबद्दल काही माहिती नाहीये, तरी त्या तेव्हा प्रसिद्ध होत्या. अशांचं नाव कायम स्मरणात राहावं, पुढच्या पिढीला त्यांची थोडी ओळख व्हावी यासाठी हे पुस्तक नक्कीच चांगलं. जर या व्यक्तींबद्दल काही वाचायचं असेल, मराठी नाट्यक्षेत्र आणि कलाक्षेत्राबद्दल उत्सुकता असेल, नाहीतर त्यांचं काम पाहिलं असेल किंवा त्यांचा आयुष्याबद्दल उत्सुकता असेल तर हे पुस्तक नक्कीच आवडेल; नाहीतर पुस्तक कंटाळवाणं होऊ शकतं.
