Faded: The Trillest Kind Of Love

Rate this book
Samiq “Shooter” Young learned at an early age that love doesn’t make you responsible. His parents chose their vices over him, and although they were there, they fell short when it came to providing him with the things he needed.

That deficit forced him into the streets and into a different type of family where he had to do whatever necessary to survive. Years passed, and he built a one-man operation that was just enough to provide him with a good life but kept him under the radar. However, as a man, he once again learns that love doesn’t make you responsible. When one of his transactions are interrupted by his ex, who chose her vices over raising the daughter that the two of them created—a daughter that Shooter wasn’t aware existed—he’s left once again to pick up where someone else fell short.

Refusing to be a mirror image of his parents, he had some tough choices to make, which meant rearranging his priorities enough to be a father to his daughter.

He walks away from everything and grinds in any way possible to make sure they both have what they need. That left little to no room in his life for anything other than being on his grind and raising his daughter, until her...

Unfortunately, Shooter finds himself stuck between what his heart is being pulled to and what his mind is fighting against. Once you’re faded off of love, you no longer have control, no matter how hard you fight to maintain it.

3,5 heartwarming stars...

‘Faded: The Trillest Kind Of Love’ is a book about taking a chance on love and getting out of your comfort zone.

Shooter is an ex-dealer and owner of a tattoo shop. He’s a creative mind and his presence exudes sexiness, confidence and authority. Growing up with parents who chose their vices over their son, Shooter chose to play an active role in his daughter Ari’s life, who was abandoned as a baby by her mother. Ari is Shooter’s entire life, heart and soul and he wouldn’t let anyone disrupt that bond. Until he laid eyes on Nomi.

Nomi is an ex-college student who’s compassionate, loyal and attentive. She suffered a great loss, which has caused her life to spiral out of control. In Shooter Nomi hopes to find the strength that she needs to take back control of her life.

Nomi was a very likable character who I was always able to connect with, which sadly wasn’t the case with Shooter. I’m not sure why that is, but he sometimes came across as very haughty, which didn’t sit well with me. Nevertheless, Nomi and Shooter’s connection was very genuine and heartwarming. I enjoyed reading the slow build-up and progression of their relationship tremendously.

The secondary characters also contributed to the merriment of this book. One of them being Ari who stole my heart with her cuteness. I also enjoyed the bond that Shooter shares with Ari - it’s so tender and sweet.

Another secondary character that wove his way into my heart was Shooter’s best friend Hendreek “Dreek”. He’s absolutely hilarious and I was pleasantly surprised that his budding romance with Rivica was also highlighted in the book. Dreek may have his faults, but I couldn’t help but be smitten by his charm, sincerity and sense of humor.

Although I enjoyed this book immensely, I must say that the manner in which it ended left a sour taste in my mouth and it has nothing to do with the fact that it ended on a cliffhanger. The ending just seemed a bit far fetched and unnecessary. Thankfully the amazing plot, the author’s great penmanship and the multidimensional characters made up for this this lackluster ending.

Overall, an endearing and delightful read. If you’re looking for a light and charming read then look no further and grab yourself a copy of “Faded: The Trillest Kind Of Love”.

Nomi & Ari are the life of the book

Nomi personality is what pulled me in. Samiq was going over board with his protection of keeping his daughter so secluded. I feel like he had the right mind set but he went about it the wrong way in some situations. But I respect him for protecting her. And keeping her from women like Evie. I was so excited seeing him look past Nomi and her small habit and baggage that her lose created. Dreek met his match with Riv but Yahma is going to mess it up if he don't get a handle on her salty self. His secret he is protecting his mom from is going to bite him in the you know what, not if, but when she finds out. Nomi father is sad sack of potatoes and her sister isn't no better. She may not have known in the beginning that was her half sister man. Yet when she found out she disregarded that info and carried in her relationship with him. That there shows she will NEVER have a relationship with Nomi. The story was cool but had it not been for me wanting to see how Nomi makes out with this charge I wouldn't bother with book 2. The sex scenes where boring to say the least. I didn't agree with the way Samiq handled his parents but to each their own. He did what he thought was best. I love the fact that his mom wanted better for herself. His father on the other hand needs to grow some balls and move padt his junky mentality. And want better for himself as he should want for himself. Whatever lead to his craving can be overcome but only if he wants it. Which based off his character he doesn't. And really why should he when his son has him living and getting high like a King. I feel like there was many questions I had while reading this story that wasn't answered but just maybe they will be in book 2.

Cliffhanger!!!!

Although nothing showed that this could be a cliffhanger (had I known I would not have read it until I hear the second one was out) I am still giving it a 5 stars because it was that good. The story line was very good, with no grammatical errors as well as no confused sentences.
Samiq "shooter" was so alpha and badass yet a sweet teddy bear that I kept a smile on my face whenever it was his turn in the story. He was just that good. Ari, man she was sooo cute...
Nomi, strange name for a girl, was really perfect for him besides being a little bit naive, childish; but still a very good person at the end.
This story was truly the epitome of what goes on in everyday life, every seconds, in one part of the USA. Drug use ( in any form is a non negotiable aspect for me but this story was perfect), black lives, drug dealers, pushers, sellers are all part of our society and this author bought it out, discussed it and spoke about it.
I must say, I am more a interracial romance kind of reader, but every now and then I would look into a strictly African American romance, new author or not, and see what I could spark with and this one did. I hope I don't get disappointed with any other stories from this author and even with the second book of this story.
MS. Mills you have done this story and I am already a close follower if any other work you have done or will do. Thank for helping me get out of my comfort zone!

That ending was petty

I love the way kc take you on a rollercoaster as she explains the reason why each character how the became who they are. The fact she leaves mystery to the story all the while making you fall in love with each character. This was a little different a love story with two of the main characters using drugs. But I fell in love with both of the storylines samiq is the alpha male who just wants to protect who he loves. Naomi can't get over her past and guilt but with samiq help manages to do it slowly. Dreek the ultimate ladies man with a small habit and a lot on his shoulders. Finally finds himself in love for the first time and with a firecracker name rivica. How you going leave me with that ending after I was getting happy for naomi get something good happening in her life. Can't wait for part two

Great book

Ms. Mills you never disappoint. Samiq is a no nonsense type of man and he doesn't play about Ari. Nomi is a loving and caring person put into a situation that is messed up and because of it she walks around with the weight of the world on her shoulders until Samiq comes in and removes that weight from her shoulders. Riv is exactly what Dreek needs. I hope he uses this second chance and lives up to it. Yawna and Evie need to kick rocks because what they had with Dreek and Shooter was never that deep and they'll never be what or who they want. Counting down the days til book 2 is released

K.C. Mills I truly admire your work absolutely love your style. Not the grimy drug dealer meets girl story. Samiq was a great guy and became an even amazing father he grew up hard and was afraid to give his heart away. The only women he loved was his mom and daughter Ari until he met Nomi and she changed how he viewed his happiness. Dreek is samiq best friend and he doesn't know how to love until he meets Riv and she steal his heart. Samiq can't get rid of evie she is jealous of nomi and wants answers why she wasn't good enough. Hurry up part 2!!!#143

Awesome

I love this story. Not every man is like Shooter. I love his character for stepping up doing doing what a man is supposed to do. Nomi is timid and scared sometimes to me. She overcame a tragedy and slowly picking up the pieces. Helaing goes both ways for Samiq and Nomi. They made for each other and balance each other out. Baggage yes but with love it will make that baggage that much lighter. Dreek and Riv story is a work in progress. 2 strong willed people bound to bump head but they gonna make it. They good for each other Loved this book.. Can't wait for part 2

Good Read

I enjoyed this book. It moved at a slower place just like the author said it would, but it was not boring at all. I like how the characters are in their late 20’s and early 30’s. There is definitely chemistry between Samiq and Nomi which in my opinion is very important in a story. Anyway, it was something different, but I liked it. I look forward to reading part 2. Good job, K.C. Mills.

Must Read

This book was great. I wasn’t expecting how things played out. Nomi was a good girl that dealt with some things in her life. She held on to so much pain and handled it the only way she thought was possible. Shooter was a cool dude. I loved him and Dreek. They both had me laughing so much. Them meeting Riv and Nomi changed them a lot. Too bad things are playing out the way they are. Hopefully things work out in book two!

Nice!

That was dope! I love how Samiq changed up his whole entire mode for Ari. I know the men aren't usually cheaters in this authors books, but it was just something special about Shooter. He had his head on right and had his life together. That doggone Dreek tho 🤦🏽‍♀️ nuff said lol. Run Riv Run! Lol no but really hopefully he gets his life in part 2 as well. Can't wait for June 15

So good

This book was such a good read! From beginning to end it was a page turner. I swear poor Nomi can't catch a break. I hope she stays strong and not revert back to drugs. Shooter will get her a lawyer and hold her down I hope. Dreek has drama too that will treat his family apart. I can't wait til the next book drops! Dreek had to still deal with his drama with his jump off, and i hope that doesn't get him and Shooter in more trouble.

KC mills

I've had the pleasure of reading a few stories by kc mills. The few that I've read were really good, including this one. As slow as this story is I actually love it and I don't like slow stories. The build up was nice aside from the little bit of repetitiveness and a couple of grammar issues but not enough to entirely take away from the story. I'm patiently waiting for part 2.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Never disappointed when I read K.C. Mills books. This had just the right amount of drama. I liked Nomi and Shooter for each other. I also loved how protective Shooter was with his daughter, he didn’t play any games when it came to Ari. Rivica and Dreek are also a good couple, I can’t wait to see how things play out. That ending though 😮😮 oh I’m ready to jump in the book and punch that lady dead in her face🤬🤬🤬

Hell of a Story!!

Shooter and Nomi belong together and I have a feeling things got real! Both are living in the past and have secrets. Ari is the glue to keep them together. Let’s see if the lovers can weather the storm coming their way. Knowing the past is coming for them both should be interesting. Rivica and Derek are good together. Trouble is on the horizon but let’s how this plays out!

👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

This book was different from what I usually like because it focused more on building the relationships then gun slinging and drugs drama but it still kept my interest. I love nomi she was dealt a bad hand but she's still trying to push through. Riv she's a no nonsense chick and I like her character. Dreek and Shooter I definitely book baes. I don't even understand why evie is still here go away.

Speechless

I am utterly speechless. I have read every book you have released. I can see your growth. This book was so different from anything you have ever put out. Anyone who says it is long and drawn out doesn’t see what you are trying to do. This has got to be the best work you have done by far and I cannot wait for part 2. Sensational job

Different but good

This was a good read. It wasn’t the normal dole slanging drug dealer, but it still had the hood feel and the drama was there. I loved it from the beginning to end and wish it was more lol. Nomi and Samiq need each other and I hope things work out for them. Can’t wait for part 2.
