Scandalous #4

Kenzie And The Guy Next Door

Rate this book
The last thing I expected was my ex-boyfriend showing up unannounced, demanding to see our son. The son whose existence he’d previously never bothered to acknowledge, leaving me a single mother at sixteen years old.

As if I’m not freaked out enough, I also have to deal with a loud, annoying new neighbour on top of it all.

Imagine my surprise when I discover my neighbour is none other than Jeremy, my best friend’s dangerously hot brother, who was recently released from prison.

I’m sure he’s a complication I definitely don’t need. But then he inserts himself effortlessly into my life, becoming my hero, my saviour, and someone my son can look up to, and I realize how much I actually need him.

But my ex isn’t backing off, making me wonder what he’s capable of — and how far Jeremy will go to keep us safe.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I can go back to enjoy the series now. We met Kenzie before and we know that she has a little boy Cole who she had as young girl she was 16 when she got pregnant and the jerk abandons her, but lovingly she has her twin brother Ryder who is always there for her. Now that same jerk is back in town and harrassing her, but her neighbor Jeremy who is Kenzie's brother and has just gotten out of jail is there to assist her. While helping her they fall in love and this relationship I totally approve.

FIVE STARS!

OMG! I thought Ryder, Linc, and Nate were the epitome of book-boyfriends, but R. Linda was only preparing my heart for the Adonis that is Jeremy. *swoon*

Kenzie and her storyline have been integral to the entire Scandalous Series, and I love that R. Linda teases pieces of Kenzie's plot in each story. She's a twist in each book, leaving readers crying for her, hopeful for her, and anticipating her own story. As always, R. Linda delivered!! Readers are going to fall heavily for the romance in this book!

Each story in the Scandalous Series is intertwined and written in such an addicting way that I feel I'm one of the characters. R. Linda masterfully wove the characters and plots together, leading us to a point where two multiple storylines merge at the hands of Kenzie and Jeremy (#Jenzie).  These two are authentic, beautifully scarred, and absolutely meant for one another. The sexual tension, the realities of their pasts, and thoughts of the people in their lives, comes together full force as R. Linda weaves a few more twisty plot strings that will keep Scandalous readers falling hard and fast for Jeremy and Kenzie, desperate for more in this amazing series!

This book and series are absolute MUST READS!!

So I have to say this is my first R. Linda story. I did not read the other stories in this series, and at some points, I felt like I was missing details, but it wasn't enough to make me need to stop reading and go to the other books and read those. So that was a big plus.

This story is about Kenzie and Jeremy and their love story. Kenzie is trying to make a better life for her and her son. When she gave birth to Cole at 16 she knew she never wanted to be a bad mother. She was going to make her dreams come true and make sure her son had everything. With the help of her brother and mother, those dreams are finally coming true. But when the father of her son starts showing up and pretty much stocking her things start going sideways.

Jeremy has been out of prison for a year now. He has done everything he can to make his life better also. He has made his way to his sister, found a job, and an apartment. He wants to make his life better for himself and his sister. So when he finds an apartment next to his sisters best friend Kenzie he finds it isn't so bad. But finding out that Kenzie's ex-boyfriend is stocking her and her son, he takes it personally and decides to help her out.

I loved Jeremy. He is such a great alpha, so protective and loving. But at the same time, Kenzie wants to take care of herself and her son. So she doesn't take getting help very well. So there is a lot of back and forth that you will enjoy. This is an enjoyable story. And even though I don't have to I will go back and read the other stories!

Wow... this book...
I’ve been anxious to read Kenzie’s story since reading the first book in the series and it did not disappoint.
I enjoyed it a lot, it’s filled with action, suspense, excitement and love. Also, a bunch of questions from the previous books were answered in this one.
I really liked. And I love how this author’s heroes make the heroines better, more confident, loved and like their the greatest thing in the world. It’s amazing.
I love this series but my fav couple is Bailey and Ryder. Always!
Now, I’m off to check Audrey’s story.

This is the fourth book in this amazing series. Kenzie is a single mom, who is doing the best she can for her little boy, when her unwanted ex makes an appearance. Jeremy is Kenzie new neighbour, and turns out to be her BF’s sexy older brother, who is newly released from prison, and having done his time is just trying to start a new life for himself. Luckily he is on hand to protect Kenzie and her son, and the attraction between these two is intense. They both have obstacles to overcome, but will they get a second chance at love? This story is a must read in my opinion, as you will not be disappointed. This talented author has written an amazing story, which had me intrigued and hooked throughout, and I cannot wait to read more of her work.

I received an ARC of this book for an honest review. This is a sweet book. I really liked Jeremy and Kenzie. I also really liked the fact that nobody was judgmental towards either one of them. Their friends and family were very likable. There was a little bit of suspense, which I enjoy. Overall, it was a good book.

No cheating, no ow/om drama, no tstl, no separation, no angst.

Sweet story. This is book 4 and I have not read the previous books. The author did a great job of giving background of the seconaray characters (which there are a lot of) without it being and info-dump. I didn't feel like I was missing too much but not having read the other books in the series.

The main couple are super nice. Jeremy was in prison for 8 years (as a teenager he was rushing to his sisters rescue when he accidentally hit and killed someone), he's not dark and hardened at all. He's cute and funny and lets the h know he's interested from the start. He's the brother of Kenzie's friend Hannah and her new next door neighbor. Sparks fly when Kenzie pounds on his door late at night for playing music too loud and keeping her son awake.

Kenzie's ex (her son's father who didn't want anything to do with her son) is now somewhat stalking her. There is some backstory with the ex and another friend (who's now with Kenzie's twin brother).

Anyway, it's a sweet story. A bit of a tease considering they don't do anything but kiss and it's 85% in before they do the deed. The author was a bit stingy with the love scenes and I could have used a bit more heat and intensity there but it was fine. A couple of bumps for me were the cartoonish police not helping out at all with her ex and ************spoilerish) his past bad deed that I cannot believe he would not have been arrested and dealt with for, it happened in a previous book but it felt unreal to me. Also the lack of description of what the characters looked like or even the setting aside from the name of the town. It's obviously set in UK or Australia due the British spellings and colloquialisms.

This was a fun, sweet, and sexy read.

When I signed-up for the ARC, I didn’t know it was the fourth book in a series. And though it is, it reads well as a standalone.

I loved Kenzie’s “introduction” to her neighbor.

“Turn your goddamn music down. I have a child who is trying to sleep next door,” I growled at him.

Best opening ever! Lol! And this shows the kind of attitude Kenzie has throughout the book. Well, except when she was around Jeremy, the neighbor she so rudely spoke to like that, and her son.

There is some suspense in the book with Kenzie’s ex, her son’s father, showing up and being a total douche. I’m glad Linda didn’t take it as far as she could have. Instead, it seemed more realistic.

Oh, and Jeremy. That man was delicious. I could just her him call Kenzie “babe” in sexy voice with a little smirk that you would want to kiss instead of slap. I wish I had known that Kenzie knew about his past and why he spent eight years in prison before it is casually mentioned halfway through because, for half this book, I was thinking, “Yeah, he might be a victim of circumstances, but you don’t know that! And you’re letting a convict around your kid without batting an eyelash!” That was really my only complaint about the book. This was also before I realized it was part of a series. Not to mention Kenzie is best friends with Jeremy’s sister, so yeah, she would have known from the beginning. Well, unless Jeremy’s sister never discussed it.

Okay, I just got off track, having arguments in my head. Anyway, like I stated in the beginning, Kenzie and the Guy Next Door is a light read that is sweet and sexy. I would love to read more from this author and recommend this book to everyone. Or even the series. From what I read in this book, all the prior stories must have been very intriguing and sweet books. 😊

This book i had been looking forward too. When you get an awesome series and you learn about all the different characters the anticipation for each couple is too much sometimes and i am so glad we got Kenzie and the Guy Next Door next.

We didn’t know too much about Jeremy just that he was in prison and the reasons behind it were so sad for both himself and his sister Harper. What i didn’t expect was to meet such a nice, caring and very protective man i really did love Jeremy without even being asked or knowing the full story he was always there to protect Kenzie.

Kenzie has been a character in the book from the start of this series, especially with the story regarding her ex. Kenzie was a single mum who had been put through the ringer with being such a young single mum to trying to keep away from her ex who was seriously deranged. We’re learnt in the first book that there was something wrong with him when he was dating Bailey and this caused Ryder kenzie a brother and Baileys boyfriend to be way over protective so it was good to see Jeremy help him out and stay out of trouble.

This book was everything i could have wanted with such a great story line of two opposites and one really adorable kid in the mix. We had drama, love and just amazing story line of family always looking out for each other. I also love how you can practically feel the next book that’s going to happen and was i excited to see who’s book is next and that anticipation is still there for the next R.linda book and i can’t wait.

What an awesome book and such an amazing series if you haven’t started this yet, do it you won’t regret it.

Massive 5 stars for this story now i want to go live somewhere with a Jeremy next door ha ha.

Let's start with a bit of Kenzie's history. See, she got pregnant at a young age with the town's golden boy, who didn't want the baby, so his parent's sent her hush money to leave him alone. Fast forward several years, said golden boy is stalking her, and it's starting to really scare her. Enter her new neighbor, Jeremy, who happens to be her best friend, Harper's brother, but also just got out of prison. Confused yet? Yeah, it is a bit intertwined. Anyway, he becomes her knight in shining whatever, and they start to spend time together. And that's all that I'm giving away! This story had it all for me, drama, humor in spades, f-bomb dropping twists, hot chemistry, and a cast of secondaries that were awesome. Kenzie & Jeremy clicked from the moment they met for me, as neither irritated me, so I didn't want to shake anyone which is rare. I loved & got frustrated at the slow burn of their progression but it was realistic in it's telling as there were a lot of things going on in her life & his as well. R. Linda's talented writing style is addictive, and this group of friends are so amazing that I wish they were mine in real life! I hope there is more in this series to come, and I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

Kenzie and The Guy Next Door is a sweet read with a little dash of drama! Single mother Kenzie is trying to live her life with her son Cole. With a crazy ex who stalks her and a hot guy next door, she's got a lot on her plate. Jeremy made a mistake when he was younger and because of that was in prison for years. He's out now and just wants to live the good life and spend time with his sister.

Kenzie is pretty witty, and a few times she made me laugh. She's a strong woman just trying to make a better life for her and Cole. Jeremy is a big huge sweetheart. He falls pretty quickly for Kenzie's son and Kenzie as well. Their romance was a slow build up. Both of them together complimented each other well.

The build up with the drama of the ex was a bit of a let down. I expected more from him and didn't get much. I haven't read the other books so I went in not knowing who anyone was. It did get a bit confusing at times, trying to figure out who was who and who went with who.The romance was sweet. The friendship between this group was amazing. Creating a tight knit family of friends that you can’t help but adore. Overall, I had fun reading this sweet and sexy book and look forward to going back and getting to know the couples that came before Kenzie and Jeremy.

The guy next door just might be the game changer.

Kenzie is a single mom. The sperm donor left before her son was even born. But now the dirt bag is back and trying to get back in their lives. And he’s not above stalking to get what he wants.

Lucky for Kenzie, her new neighbor is more than capable of being her white knight. Well in his case, he’s wearing a tight black tee and tattoos! He’s Harper’s older brother, who just got out of prison after eight years.

Jeremy is a good guy. He served his time and now he’s out trying to make a new life. And when he realizes Kenzie lives next door and needs his help, he's more than happy to step in. Kenzie has brought out his protective side. Cade’s intentions start out purely, to protect his sister’s friend and her son. However, these two just can’t resist the attraction between them!

I love revisiting with the characters from the first three books. It’s a wonderful tie in and we get to catch up with how their doing.

This is a sweet story of two people having a second chance at happiness. Both have struggled, but fought to have a better life. They have each earned a happily ever after and they find theirs in one another! I lam looking forward to Audrey and Brody’s story.

I love, love, love this series!!! All can be read as standalone's, but as each book does feature characters from the previous novels, I do recommend reading them in order.
I was so looking forward to reading Kenzie's story. Her teens were all in an upheaval, so I was so happy to see her find her happiness.
Jeremy is just such a likeable character. He was dealt a tough hand also, but he has risen above his past and is exactly the type of man Kenzie deserves.
It was great catching up with the other characters. R Linda has written characters that all come across as people you would really know in your own life. It makes the stories just that more believable.
Looking forward to the next book!!

I really like this series it’s great to read about this entire group of friends. Seeing them have a happily ever after... well we hope they do! And having them all make cameos is great! Bailey is Ryder’s twin sister whom we met in the first book who went through a hard time. She came back to town with her son and moved in next door to Jeremy her best friends brother! He’s off limits but when her ex shows up and starts to stalk her, Jeremy is there to help. Spending so much time together they both are highly attracted to eachother and help eachother through their hard times. These books are easy reads and u fall for all the characters you will love them! Can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

this was a first for me reading this author but definitely not the last. Kenzie is a single mom with an ex baby daddy that's trying to put himself back into her life in a bad way and isn't backing down but when her new neighbor comes to her rescue, baby daddy isn't her only problem. Jeremy is Kenzie's best friend brother, he's starting over from where he has been in prison and seeing Kenzie is his next door neighbor makes him happy even if he's been warned to stay away but with her prick baby daddy causing problems it's a perfect excuse to hang around, I truly loved these characters.

Jeremy, Kenzie and Cole's story

Do not judge a book by the cover. Jeremy unfolds in this story from the ex-con to be a man that Kenzie can ... I will not tell. This story has many characters and an intricate plot. A sweet romance blooms.

Not my favorite in the series, the story is a lot about the other books in my opinion and about the friend group and less about kenzie herself, I feel like we already knew everything about these characters before we even started the book. Stil think they were cute but yeah

Jeremy!!!

Talk about a swoon-worthy hottie!! A tattooed bad boy? Yes, please!

I purchased this book earlier this morning and totally binged on it! I thought book 1, Bailey and Ryder's story was my favorite, but I think this one trumped it! Jeremy and Kenzie have quite the story themselves! It was angstier and even sexier than the others!

One thing I completely loved was how protective Jeremy was of Kenzie and Cole. Between him and Ryder, my heart was ready to melt! Chace was definitely a piece of work...to say the least. Talk about a self-entitled psycho!!! Ugh!

As always, it was super fun reading about the whole group and seeing their stories continue. I'm over the moon with Bailey and Ryder's updates too! I soooo cannot wait for Brody's story next!!

Although I really did enjoy this story I felt like I was missing some of the emotional connection between this group of friends/family. I'm sure I would have given an extra star if I had read the earlier books as I had gaps in my understanding of some of the relationships. I also found the story seemed to wrap up quickly and was expecting a little more drama or suspense I suppose given the plot. I did still enjoy it enough to give it 3 stars but would recommend if you want to read this that you should probably start at the beginning of the series to get the best enjoyment.

She fell in love with the guy next door. He fell in love with the girl next door.....

Now I really like this book. I'm not going to give out too many spoilers but there will a few maybe more who knows until you read it.

Anyways......

https://ladiikeiii.wordpress.com/2018...

This book was really interesting; I was happy that Jeremy took an interest in Kenzie. And he became to love not only her but her son too. Chace, it was definitely something wrong with him. It was since he was a teenager from getting Kenzie knocked up stealing Bailey and ruining his friendship with Ryder, because of not only his sister Kenzie but Bailey too. Then turn around and hurt Bailey by cheating on her with her ex-best friend, Christina. The sad thing about he didn't change as he got older by going out and stalking Bailey in college, and trying to rape her. It's a wonder that didn't affect her mainly since it affects Kenzie so much because Chace was stalking her and her son. I figure there were cameras in Kenzie house I am not sure how that wasn't their first thought when they learned he found out that she and Jeremy kissed.

Chace is a psycho. Not only a psycho but more a rapist too. Because 9 out of 10 he would've done Kenzie the same way if it wasn't for Jeremy being around so much and living next door. He would've definitely harm her and her son. I am not going to say their son because he didn't deserve Cole. He had a serious mental illness that he needed help for glad that his parents actually considered getting him actual help. And Kenzie and her son found love in Jeremy and he the same after being locked up for eight years. At first, I didn't know the meaning behind the next door neighbor title of this, book but came to realize that it was Harper brother Jeremy... After reading the description.

Kenzie and The Guy Next Door is the fourth book in the Scandalous Series. Kenzie and her storyline have been integral to pretty much the entire Scandalous Series to date. I love that this has slowly built until we get to her story and what a story it has been!!! Author R. Linda teased pieces of Kenzie's plot in each story until we are here at book 4 finally with her book . Single mother Kenzie is trying to live her life with her son Cole. She is trying to work, take care of her young son and she doesn’t get any help from the sperm donor who fathered her son except the extreme harassment and to the point, stalking he gives her. We see she has a new neighbor who lives next door to her in the apartment that she lives in and wow is he hot. Jeremy is Kenzie's best friend Harper’s brother, and her new neighbor. We met him in the last book so we know a little about his past and how he is starting over from where he has been in prison to having a place and family around. He really is a nice guy although rough around the edges. Because of Kenzie’s ex starting to do things that are scaring her due to his behavior and actions, Jeremy really shows what a great guy he is and befriends Kenzie as well as looks out for her. Their romance starts off with a slow burn but by the 60% point, they are well on their way to a relationship and it is steamy, sizzling and red-hot. I enjoyed how Jeremy showed Kenzie how he feels about her. I also loved getting to see previous characters from the other books make appearances in this story. Now that Kenzie’s story has been beautifully written, I cannot wait to read Brody and Audrey’s story.

My Rating: 4.7 stars *****

I was not aware when signing up that this is part four of a series. This is a prime example of when series should be read in order, with the list of characters who had their own story, and of course it's assumed that you read their book, so they just carry on as if you knew what they were talking about. The situation with Kenzie and her ex was not something new, and it seemed like it had been a running thing throughout the other books as well. The blurb made it seem like the ex pops back up out of nowhere and that wasn't the case. Its more the ex has been a bit of a bother to Kenzie, and some of the others from her group, but for Kenzie she shares a child with him, a child he wanted nothing to do with. When he decides for some reason he wants something to do with him, he starts showing up... they never really have a conversation, so we don't really know the exact reason but that's what we are lead to believe. Jeremy has just moved in next door, and in fact already knows Kenzie as she is his sisters bestie, he just didn't realize they lived in the same building. For Jeremy, Kenzie is everything that he wants, but he promised his sister that he wouldn't mess with her friends. But after witnessing Chase bothering Kenzie, Jeremy decides to step in and help out. Trying to make sure that he keeps his promise to his sister is hard, but denying this thing with Kenzie is even harder.

So, as a story this was just ok, the foreplay was more steamy than the actual sexy times. The situation with Kenzie's ex was very anti-climatic. The story as a whole was very anti-climatic for me, but it could be that I just wasn't connected to any of the characters. This was just not up my alley I guess. I give this 3.5 stars.

While this book is part of a series and each character has their own story, there are some intertwined pieces in each book. You do not have to read each book, but you see things that are not duplicated in their story even with their own events, so it doesn’t feel like your reading double the same story or missing a piece ever. It just entices you to want to read the other characters stories. This is my second book in this series and if I thought the other men were hot you haven’t met Jeremy yet. Jeremy is the BFs brother who happens to be Kenzie’s new next-door neighbor and how they meet officially outside of the group is hilarious. Kenzie is a single parent and dealing with the baby dad who wanted nothing to do with the baby ever until now and the question is, “why now?” Well we will see events that we didn’t expect in this story and that keep you wanting to read on to find out what is going to transpire.
Both Kenzie and Jeremy have obstacles to overcome with events from the past, but will these two get a second chance at life/love is what you will want to find out? We see Alpha men who protect with their hearts, love and a family that is a circle of friends. While there is drama it is nothing that will make you not want to read the story since it basically explains Kenzie’s baby daddy drama. Trust me, you will want to find a way to make him disappear. The anticipation of these characters and where the story is going keeps you hooked and I cannot wait to see where the next book is going to unravel. The friendships these characters have are what friends truly are for.

Kenzie is a single mom battling a horrible ex boyfriend who fathered her son. He is getting creepy, stalks her and even attacked her unofficial sister in law. But when Harpers brother turns out to be the too loud music neighbor things take a twist.

Jeremy is an ex-con who only went to prison for vehicular manslater on the night he tried to save his sister from being attacked due to their terrible druggy parents- he never meant for it to happen and would do anything to change it. Life had been hard for him. But saving Kenzie brought joy to his life. Having a new little buddy added to that fire.

This was a hallmark sweet and yet full of chemistry single mom romance. She finally found a worthy guy and he finally found good in his life.

I think it's horrible that he had to serve so much time for that crime- as not only a first offender but battling a hypersensitive tragic night that lead to that tragedy. Sure that childs death deserved justice but there's a grey area to, a critical mistake (the song critical mistakes by 888 would pair well with my thoughts there).

I cannot believe how off his rocker Chace is- did his narcissism have another level of social path or mental illness attached?

The only thing I am a little saddened by- is that there wasn't more from this couple directly, maybe in the future such as if Cole decides he loves Jeremy and wants him as his dad, or Jeremy and Kenzie declare their love, or marriage and kids... Maybe just a simple 5 years look at where they are just them as a unit: like Christmas morning before they join the gang and here's a lookback thankful montage....

Love love Bailey and Ryder's news....
