Missing the Moment

Shelly's Revenge is the name of the Game!

Shelly Stavins is divorced, bitter and vindictive. One bright sunny Friday morning, her attorney husband of ten years pecks her on the cheek, pats her son on the head and leaves for his office. Or so she thinks. Before noon, she answers her door to a smug, navy suit, red tie wearing process server who hands over her official divorce papers. The promised settlement is one no woman in her right mind could refuse. Why fight? Why bother?

Tired of all the speculation and gossip of the husbands' wives' club and bored with a life that no longer resembles the fantasy life style she had grown accustomed to, Shelly opts to move on. Settling in for the long haul, she invests the profit from the sale of her house into a local business and newly built property on the outskirts of Chandlerville, Kentucky.

Running a quaint but charming book store and being a full time single mother does little to soften her heart. But a softened heart is not her goal because 'Shelly's Revenge' is the name of the game.

Player #1: Handsome bestselling author Justin Raye, Chandlerville's author in residence for the summer. Should she consider her childhood heart throb's 'marriage for the kids sake' proposal?

Player #2: Local cop, Carlos Nunes, Chandlerville's hero, the Mayor's best friend and Shelly's obnoxious unofficial body guard. Shelly detests him and his white knight in shining armor come on or does she?

Player #3: A woman with a broken heart.

Winner takes all.

When I have chosen to read something or someone new to me, I have sometimes been delighted to find a gem; this one was a broken piece of flawed glass. I was trapped by my habit of finishing every book I start, resulting in the painful experience of reading this mess. I did not know that you could pack that many mistakes into 127 pages. One who dreams up a story might be an "author" but not necessarily a "writer." And I find it hard to believe that the "editor" ever read this manuscript. Spellcheck is not the same as proofreading. "Past" is not the same as "passed." A good writer or editor would never allow something like so-and-so past him in the hall. "Nune's" is not the possessive of the character named "Nunes." Verb tense sometimes makes no sense. Problems and inconsistencies with compound words. You usually presented compounds as two words; one was used as both one word and two words. And "foot steps" is not a choice for "footsteps." Punctuation throughout is deplorable. A parenthetical phrase in one awkward sentence is preceded by a hyphen and finished with both a hyphen and a comma. When having guests for dinner in her home, Shelly asked one of them to "grab the wine--it's in the 'grand' room." What is that? Maybe you meant "great" room. This seems as if you were from another country and unfamiliar with the English language. ". . . caught "someone" off guard" when when the sentence clearly meant "somewhat." You described the "triple play" in the "soft ball" game, then tried to get fancy and referred to the "tripartite" play, which would NEVER be used in sports parlance. What happened during English classes? Just dreamed of writing stories, not "how" to write stories? It became impossible to follow the story line while plodding through these pages. Don't try this one unless you're a masochist.

Shelly finds herself unexpectedly divorced. Her husband left for work as usual one morning and the next thing she knows, she’s being handed divorce papers.

Shelly decides not to stick around and endure the gossip and speculation surround her divorce. Angry and bitter, Shelly moves to Chandlerville, Kentucky for a new beginning.

Will she ever be able to overcome the new unwanted emotions that have been unleashed or will running her own bookstore and being a single mom raising her child, soften her heart. After all, 'Shelly's Revenge' is the name of the game.

This is a very well written book. The story flows seamlessly and the characters are true to life. If you love reading a good clean romance that is both entertaining and enduring, then this is the book for you. I highly recommend it!

Surprise, divorce, struggling to find a new life, should all be depressing but instead in this wonderful book there is hope, redemption, and deep spirit. MISSING THE MOMENT is the third novel in the Chandler county Series set in Kentucky with two more to be released in the near future...superb writing, language that fits the area, and great detail...love in all the right places for those who like their heart strings pulled....Stephany Tullis has done it again...great read....
