The Order of Shadows #5

The Shadow Rises

Rate this book
Two Worlds. Dark Magic Rising. The End Game.

Why is it always in the middle of the night? The call came in, an old friend, a harrowing problem and a fight to the death, literally. Then I found myself on a breakneck journey to a place I’d hoped I’d never have to see again. And that was before the real fireworks began.

Next up on the rollercoaster ride to hell; secret meetings, an occult hideout, and an army of the most sinister evil imaginable. And the battle to end all battles.

That was in this world, and it had nothing on what I was about to face in the next as I pursued my final enemy into the blackest of nights.

The Shadow Rises is the fifth and ultimate Morgan Rook novel in the The Order of Shadows series.
If you love supernatural thrillers, high octane action and gritty magical adventures, then you’ll love this new book from Kit Hallows, author of Urban Fantasy books with teeth!

I am heartbroken. This series has reached it conclusions and now I must wave goodbye to all the characters in this five book series and hope they remain safe and happy. Morgan reaches out and pursues each and everyone one of the evil leaders who are out to start a war between blinkards and the "other worldlys." and as a result it is definitely the most violent and bloody one of them all. Morgan struggles with Emeric, his other self and Emeric grows stronger everyday. Taking in dark magic to help him in his battles puts him closer into Emeric's reach. Astrid and Samuel deepen the bond between the three as they fight the evil that has invaded the two worlds by Stroud. A series I am glad I didn't miss and well worth the time to read it. Has a HEA for now as life goes on and evil still exists as the three friends promise to help build a new and better "Organization." Farewell my friends.

As the 5th and final book in this series, it is obviously unsuited to be the starting point for new readers and they would be better off starting from the equally entertaining first book in this series instead.

The problems and challenges facing Morgan Rook continue to mount with the increasing possibility of war between the supernatural and mundane sides of earth being merely an appetiser for him to deal with prior to the main course of stopping the shade who has plagued much of his life.

The performance of the narrator serves to nicely enhance this book with a varied and distinctive range of tones for a large cast.

Overall, a very good conclusion to an entertaining series.

A fitting conclusion

Non stop action as the story concludes with each unfilled promise finding a resolution. Much won't make sense if you haven't read the first 4 books so do that now. Rook's universes are still somewhat enigmatic and so are many if the characters but for those who enjoy heroes with edges and urban fantasy, the series has a bit of everything.

I can't say how much I love Kit Hallows writing. If you are an urban fantasy fan, these are amazing! Each story connects to both heart and head in ways that make the Order of Shadows series impossible to put down.

Reveng is painful

Morgan finally got his revenge. But, it was a long and painful road that he and his colleagues had to travel. Great read.
Keep up the great story.
