Chasing the Donkey

Rate this book
The story of two brothers, one a law student, the other a soldier for the self proclaimed Islamic State. "The ringing in his ears left him somewhat in a daze. They had been fighting for what seemed like forever. His hands felt slightly numb from firing his AK-47 for such a long time. He looked down at his feet and saw that maneuvering through all the rubble of the city, the sharp pieces of concrete left over from destroyed buildings had taken a heavy toll on his boots. He wasn’t tired, just numb. He looked into the faces of the men in the circle. One by one. Some were pleading, some were praying, others were just staring blankly at the ground. They were Kurdish soldiers, not worth it to make a big show of. There were no cameras to record what was to come, he knew this would be over quickly. He saw ISIS fighters with knives in their hands approach the soldiers kneeling on the ground. Each fighter positioned himself behind one of the captives. They were all facing each other. The ringing in his ears seemed to drown out the noises around him in anticipation of what would come next."
