Cute little tiny board book in Spanish about Clifford the Big Red Dog as a puppy. It's time for bed but he needs to do a few things before he can. His mom is cute and makes an appearance.

My 3 yr old loves puppies so it's been a favorite lately.

Good bilingual selection. Extra points for how exhausted and totally over it Clifford's mom looks in the the fourth spread!

I always enjoyed Clifford as a child. One thing that I liked about this board book was that the pictures told the story without you even having to read the words. I covered up the words after reading it and still knew what was happening with Clifford. I think this is great for children who like to tell their parents the story when they can read because the pictures give them clues as to what is happening.

This is a review of the 1991 English language only edition. I couldn't find it seperate from the bilingual edition here at Goodreads. Sorry.

I had a few Clifford books growing up, and read more at the library. My favorite was Clifford the Small Red Puppy. It made me cry with happiness ... until I got older, and suddenly decided to get rid off all the non-horse books from my shelves.

Now, decades later, I can't begin to tell you how glad I was to see that a series of beginning reader books was based on Clifford's puppyhood. I found this one at the Internet Archive.

It's only problem is that it's much shorter than the usual Clifford book. Also, there's not much of a conflict going on, unless you count how difficult it was to get Clifford ready for bed. I was glad to see Clifford's normal sized mother (perhaps a Golden Retriever mix?) She winds up sleeping with all of the toys Clifford desperately needs to sleep with at the book's beginning.

In real life, small puppies sleep for about 90 minutes, then bounce off the walls for 90 minutes, and so on until they are about six months old. I wonder how often Clifford's mother has to perform this bedtime ritual.

Lovely artwork. I think Bridwell actually did this one.

"Clifford is one of my favorite dogs. But my most favorite dog is my dog, Tanner. My favorite part was when he had the teddy bear. It was cute."

I worry that this book encourages children to be insistent that everything must be just right in order for them to go to bed.

My daughter loves Clifford. With simple text and descriptive pictures, we were able to interact with the text on another level.

Synopsis: "Clifford the small red puppy exasperates his mother by thinking of many ways to postpone bedtime."

My Review: I like this introduction to Clifford for my little one. It is when Clifford is a puppy so he can follow as Clifford grows in new books. It is a cute story about everything Clifford needs before he can go to sleep (which is very similar to what Munchkin needs). The illustrations are cute and Munchkin enjoyed pointing to the little red puppy on each page.

Clifford the dog can't go to sleep, and needs his mother to bring him teddy bears and a water dish. The illustrations show a loving but bleary-eyed mother dog, which is accurate. But where is the father dog in all of this? Why isn't he stepping up for the night shift? Also, isn't Clifford supposed to dwarf human beings in scale? That must mean his mother is the size of a brontosaurus. You know you've hit parenthood when you're reading this much into board books.

This is a great book for emerging readers and pr-k through kindergarten. You can also use this to teach context clue through visuals since the pictures go directly with the story. A story for and about bedtime. Great for creative writing drawing since you can have a student tell you verbally, through writing, and drawing about their bedtime routine.

Cute book! A solid choice if your child likes Clifford. A nice, quick read, and appropriately adorable. Overall, the "Little Red Puppy" Clifford books are very cute. And, to the extent that they are rare, it's always nice to have some bilingual books so that both parents can read baby his favorites.

Clifford finds excuses to avoid going to sleep.
For less than a Starbucks cup of coffee at $3.19, this bilingual book is a good purchase. It's a nice quick read which will allow me to practice mi español during bedtime.

A book about Clifford needing a bunch of things before he goes to bed (blanket, glass of water) he ends up giving his mother hugs and kisses at the end.

Clifford isn't ready to go to bed yet. He needs a drink, he needs his doll, but he's still not ready...what else does he need? A short bedtime read.
