The Resurection of Philosophy

Rate this book
Offers a re-evaluation of the meaning of philosophy and also significances in the history of philosophy. The treatment is radical and covers a polymathic field. Mentalist psychology and brain studies, ecology, evolutionism and metaphysics are some components. The chapter on education includes an early statement of anthropography, the version of social science as elaborated by a Cambridge citizen. Chapter five is a critique of New Age themes that presaged the author's more intensive rebuttals of a later phase. The lengthy final chapter on perennial philosophy gives some due attention to historical complexities, and exhibits a spirited confrontation with the traditionalist commentators Coomaraswamy, Schuon and Nasr, while also attesting a strong criticism of the opposing scholar R.C. Zaehner.
