This is one of those books that had me puzzled. As I write this review, Auctioned to Him has 83 reviews on Amazon and most of these are 5-star reviews. Reviewers mention are that the writing is great, that the story is original, and that the sex is hot.
Well, I beg to differ. First of all, the writing wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t exactly good either. In the first chapter, we start with a massive infodump about Ellie’s friend Caroline, about Ellie’s own background, before we get more info on Ellie’s crush who is getting married to someone else, and we even ‘meet’ Tom. All this info, most is dumped in a clunky way that completely halts the narrative, and a ton of it isn’t even relevant. Like Tom, who never even reappears in the book, or details about the art gallery where Caroline works.
Auctioned to Him is written in the first person present tense, all from Ellie’s perspective. This should all make it feel very close and intimate, but instead it’s slow and tedious because we make so many detours. The paragraphs are of massive proportions, there are way too many exclamation points, and a solid editing round would have shortened the book significantly.
As far as the originality of the story goes, billionaires haven’t been original since Fifty Shades. The concept of an auction has been done many times as well. I will admit that this auction is a little different in the sense that Ellie doesn’t know it’s an auction until she’s actually there. But we never see why the mysterious Mr. Black chooses Ellie. Supposedly she’s so different (presumably because unlike the others she’s not from a rich background, but we don’t see that—we only know because we’re told), but why remains unclear.
As for the sex, yes, some of the scenes were hot. They were also inconsistent. Mr. Black wants Ellie to call him sir, but doesn’t punish her when she doesn’t. She comes without permission and he punishes her…with another orgasm. See, that does not make sense at all. The setting suggests BSDM, but then breaks every rule within that world (including consent by the way). One of the last lines of the blurb says this “But he doesn’t want just sex. Oh no…he wants more.” Tell me that does not suggest kinky sex, or BDSM. Well, aside from being tied down, nothing kinky happens. I still don’t know what that line refers to, to be honest. This is definitely not a ‘dark erotic romance’, as the description promises.
The blurb tells us Mr. Black wanted to own Ellie since he saw her, but we never see that happen. They don’t interact until he’s paid for her already, and in the beginning he doesn’t even allow her to see him. Yes, their ‘relationship’ progresses and there’s something of a connection building when they talk, but it doesn’t mesh with the premise. The plot is a mess, in that perspective.
Maybe the biggest issue I have with this book is that it’s presented as a stand alone novel with a happy end. This is what the description on Amazon says: “WARNING: This is a HOT, modern day, dark erotic romance with an alpha billionaire for fans of EL James, Pepper Winters, and Alexa Riley. It contains light bondage, NO CHEATING, and a HEA.” The book does not have a happily ever after, however. It ends with the message that Mr. Black wants to see Ellie again after that one night. That’s not a HEA, that’s a cliffhanger, and it leads me to believe there will be a sequel.
I don’t know how long the book is, since the description doesn’t offer page count or word count, but it’s definitely not a full-length novel. My guess is around 50,000 words, maybe? The author has included a ton of other books in this version, so it looks like a whole lot more, but that’s just filling.
Anyways, the book isn’t all-out bad. It’s mediocre in every aspect, but definitely not the kind of book you’d expect to have 83 positive reviews…

I fell in love with this story. I expected something much more dark. While it was hot and steamy, I never expected sweet along with it. This was a well executed book. I know some readers were disappointed in the length, mainly because the kindle says it will take many hours, but it's noted at the beginning of the book that the author has added bonus stories. And I actually liked the bonus books as much as this one. It's hard to write a review without spoilers, but I will try. Caroline is a happy go lucky college girl. She has heard about this big super secret party and manages to get an invitation for her and her best friend Ellie. Ellie is reserved and level headed, never making rash decisions. When they realize there's going to be an auction for the ladies to rich guys, Caroline backs out while Ellie decides to take the plunge. Who would've thought? After all, she has college loans to pay off because she refuses to let her rich parents pay them. The bidding for her goes for $250,000! The mysterious bidder happens to be really rich and really hot! There's not much of a description of his face but his body sounds really hot. I feel like the author lets us form our own idea of his face. He is charming, even if he is a little on the arrogant side. I wasn't sure what to expect but he really treats Ellie with respect. I know some reviewers said it leaves you hanging. I didn't feel that way. There is a sweet ending that also leaves some anticipation for the next date, which I'm sure will be part of book two. This is a nice taste of the story and just enough to see if you will like it. It is worth the price. As for what goes on during Mr. Black and Ellie's night, I'll leave that up to you to read and find out.

Ahhhh the suspense
I loved this book, and Mr Black is definitely intriguing. I need more!! How does their relationship pan out? Does he change the course of Ellie's life to make her believe more of herself? The sex scenes are very hot indeed

Caroline gets an invitation to attend this exclusive party. She insist that her best friend Ellie go with her. Ellie really didn't want to go but Caroline kept pushing it so Ellie goes with her to the party.
They get flown to the yacht where they notice lots of people mulling
around. When they finally get upstairs for the cocktail party they meet
some interesting people. Finally when things calm down Lizbeth
tells the women some will stay and some will leave. She proceeds to tell the women about the auction and gave them the option of leaving or stay and sign the contract. Caroline decides she wasn't going to stay but was surprised that Ellie was going to stay.
The women were told that whatever the bid is that they will receive the
amount but, the catch was that they would have to spend the night with their bidder doing exactly what they want. When Ellie steps on the stage the bidding heats up fast. The two men she met earlier are bidding on her plus an anonymous bidder who is going through
a proxy. The final bid was placed at 250,000.00 but Ellie looked around and she couldn't find him. When she is approached by the Lizbeth and tells her that Mr.Black was her highest bidder.
Mr Black was the man whose yacht they were on for the party/auction.
She is taken to a room where she is undressed and given a shear robe.
Lizbeth tells her to get on the bed then shackles her to it..
Well this is where I end my review but, there is so much more to this book. You'll have to read it to find out if Ellie leaves the yacht or whether she finds herself.
This is where my review ends so you will have to read the book to find out what happens you won't be disappointed.

Ellie is a college graduate who is struggling to pay off her school loans. She has dreams but is scared to take too many chances. She has always been the good cautious girl. That ia until her friend talked her into going to this legendary party on a yacht. Ellie didn't want to go but her friend pressured her into is. Aboard the yacht are lots of gorgeous people, some of them are very rich. After a cocktail party, Ellie and her friend are given a strange opportunity. The next part of the party is an auction and if they stay, they will be auctioned off to the wealthy gentlemen for the night. His money will give him a night where he will do anything he wants to her and she would keep the money. Ellie's friend decides that it is too much for her and leaves but Ellie stays hoping to get money to help pay her school debt.
At the auction, Ellie is bid on by several men but the winning bid came from Mr. Black who bid a quarter of a million dollars. Ellie is thrilled and nervous. She will be able to pay off her debt and have a lot of money left over but this night is so different than anything she has ever done before. Mr. Black expects her to follow his every order but Ellie has problems doing that. Mr. Black introduces her to a different type of love making and she discovers that it makes her hot.
This is a good but with some hot scenes. I voluntarily received a copy of this story and this is my honest review.

Ellie likes to stay to herself although she does have a best friend/ roommate who is kinda on the wild side. Her roommate finally gets this important invite that she has been waiting for and she begs Ellie to go with her as her plus one, while Ellie can think of other things to do with her time as she really doesnt want to go as it isnt her scene she finally agrees. Once on the yacht she sees that this is something totally different then a normal party!
What I enjoyed most about Auctioned to Him is watching Ellie go out of her comfort zone by a lot, even staying when her wild friend didnt for the Auction but she figured that kind of money could free up her student loans and she could live easier. Mr. Black is this mysterious Man who she knows nothing about but she feels different with him then anyone else. He pushes her boundaries but in a good way and gives her some life lessons with his kind words that help her to see what her life can be.
This book is great. Summary: Ellie is a home-body writer for a New York City online magazine, mainly getting tasked with writing fluff quizzes. She is dragged to a fancy yacht party by her roommate, Caroline. The party turns out to be an auction. Women who choose to sign the contract are auctioned off to the highest bidder, agreeing to do whatever the buyer wants to do sexually for the night. Party-girl Caroline chooses to return to the city but the usually less outgoing Ellie wants to try something new and exciting. Most girls go for $80K but the host of the party, Mr. Black, ends up buying her for $250K. He teases and pleases her as no one has before. As the night progresses, the Dominant/Submissive slips away, revealing who they each really are. He encourages her to follow her dreams of becoming a real writer and be irresponsible with the night’s earnings. She wakes up the next morning alone. Disappointed, she goes to the helicopter to return to the city but is stopped by Aiden (as he is known outside the bedroom). He tells her he wants to see her again and they exchange numbers.
Pros: A quick read. The scene where he supports her writing is pretty cute.
Cons: Some confusing plot holes: He said he knew he wanted her the moment he saw her but why? Mr. Black being dominant in the bedroom fades without warning.

Ellue, Ellie , Ellie. The author makes her out to be a very shy 💋🐇young woman. Then she flips and does what she wants without asking when she is with Mr. Black. This was not authentic for the character. Ellie flip flops between being shy💋🐇 and bold.💋💃
Mr Black🐺🍌🌋✋ starts out being very Alpha, then that facade starts to slip away. He told Ellie💋🐇 to call him SIR, then he let her slide out of that pretty quickly. He said he was going to punish✋✋ her, then instead, he makes her feel good. In short, the author kind of lost her way along the way!
I liked the build up to the auction, and the build up to Ellie's time with Mr. Black. But I was let down some by the tameness of their promised encounter.
It short, Mr Black🐺🍌🌋✋ was all talk and not much naaasssty🔥🔥 bad boy action!

When they arrive for the party, all the invitees attend a cocktail party for a get to know you. This book doesn't fit the title at all. There's no captivity. It's consensual. There's no darkness. The closest I can think is that it's for the BDSM aspect but it's not true BDSM. It's roleplaying. Tied up a little bit, called sir, told not to orgasm, but no punishments, no follow through. That's not the true BDSM lifestyle; it's roleplaying. It was overwhelming disappointing as far as the title goes.
That being said, had it been titled correctly, this book would have been given a higher rating. I dislike giving poor reviews. In this case, I'm judging it on the title which would be a lower scale and the overall book had it been titled correctly which is higher on the scale. Overall it comes to a 3 star book taking these into account.
I think the author has promise, the premise had promise in a different genre but it really didn't deliver based on the description and title.

I love her writing. Ellie, lives with her best friend from college, Caroline. Caroline gets an invitation to an exclusive party and she can bring a +1. She takes Ellie. They find out that they can voluntarily be auctioned to wealthy men to do anything they want to for one night and they get to keep the money. Ellie decides to stay while her friend leaves. She is auctioned to Mr. Black the owner of the yacht the party is on. They both have an instant attraction to each other. Book 2: Ellie quits her job to write about the weekend. Realizing she's falling for Mr.Bkack. Mr Black can't get Ellie out of his mind and realizes he doesn't want sex with anybody but Ellie. He calls her and they go on series of real dates. I can't wait for book 3.

Intriguing Read
The concept behind this book makes it an intriguing read. Ellie goes with her friend Caroline to an exclusive and private party on a yacht. They mingle with attractive and very wealthy men. Then they learn they can stay and be bid on for one night with whomever wins them or leave immediately. Ellie decides to stay to make money to pay off school loans. Her bidder is none other than Mr. Black who owns the yacht and part of this elite, secretive group. He helps Ellie to learn about herself and what she wants in life....to believe in herself. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and wish there was more development between Mr. Black and Ellie. She seems like the girl next door and deserves good things happening for her.

"Auctioned to Him" is just what it says, Ellie goes with her best friend to a luxury ship in the ocean to be auctioned to the highest bidder for the night. Needing the money, Ellie stays and is auctioned off while her best friend decides she cannot go through with it. Meet Mr. Black. The book is short, the pace is quick, with Ellie and Mr. Black getting a HFN ending. The blurb tells you what you are getting from the beginning, but the story was a bit of a disappointment for me. Reading the next book, I hope to see tiny details and more of a connection between Ellie and Mr. Black. I would like to thank the author for gifting me "Auctioned to Him". My opinion is my own. This is mine 3.25 stars.

Hot quick read that was fun. I get the whole hot billionaire falls for an ordinary girl thing. I'm sure it happens all the time. It was well written and lots of fun. After thirty years of marriage I love a fantasy, the wilder the better. This is a short story with three more books in the series. Spending twelve bucks for the series is a lot to ask at 2.99 a pop. I got the first one for $.99 and liked it enough to get them all. They all have bonus stories in the back, so yippee. I live in Alabama and it's an SEC football Saturday and now I have something fun to do while the boys drink beer and curse at the TV. The writing is pretty good with likable characters. There are none of the glaring grammatical errors that short hot books often have so it's a win win.

After a meet and greet, the women are told if they want to remain, they will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. They will perform anything sexual after the money has been wired to their account. Ellie went as a plus one with her roommate, and when it came time to sign the auction release, Ellie was left alone. She was the one who never would do something so outrageous, but shocks herself by signing the contract. She is the highest bid, though she was up against models, and women in different states of undress. Mr. Black bought her. this is book has a steam level of about 5 out of 10. The couple continue in other books, so it may be worth looking for the other tales of Ellie and Mr.Black

If they don't agree they have to leave. What will Ellie decide? She has tons of student debt. It's just one night, what could happen? When the highest bidder is Mr. Black, Ellie learns what she is missing. I enjoyed this book and hope you do as well.

This is the same book as the Black Series. It also includes the Black Tease. Ellie is invited to a a party where the female guest can be auctioned off to the highest bidder for one night of pleasure. With this money she can pay off her student loans. Her winner is Mr. Black and she is to call him Sir. At the end of their night together not only does he give her the quarter of a million dollars that he paid for her but he paid off her student loans. Kissed her goodbye and told her he’d see her later. Now I have to read the next book... This series is the same series as the Black series just under a different name.

An interesting and very entertaining start to this book. The storyline is very good and really gets to a good spot and then out of the blue it ends on a cliffhanger. Now I'm sitting here waiting patiently for the next book to come out so we can find out what happens. The story itself is well written and has a good flow. The characters are very well developed as well and I hope to get to know more about them in the next book. Definitely a good start to a good story. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

A very easy, short sexy read. I loved this story it just flowed and I found myself getting sucked in right from the very start it keeps your attention the whole way through. . I loved the characters especially the mysterious Mr Black. The chemistry between Ellie and Mr Black was off the scale right from their very first meeting and oh boy.... the sex scenes were very hot.I can't wait for book 2 to find out what happens plus I need more Mr Black in my life. I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy of this book.

This was a sweet book and nothing like I thought it would be. Ellie went to a yacht party with a female friend and found out that it was an auction. You could only stay if you agreed to be auctioned. Since she was over heels in student loan debt, she decided to stay. Mr Blake buys her for the night. He is very attentive and sweet to her. Their chemistry was amazing and their sex scenes off the chart. He taught her a lot about herself. A great read. I received an arc copy and voluntarily chose to review this book.

Great start to this series. I wasn't sure what to think when I first picked up this book. I don't read blurbs when starting a new book. So of course I'm thinking, "oh here we go with another typical erotica book", am I right?! Nope! Although set in a sexual setting it's not solely about sex.
I liked the fact that the mysterious Mr. Black doesn't try to remain mysterious and opens up to Ellie almost from the start. I love how Ellie grows some lady balls and learns to take a risk.
I look forward to reading more! Now on to the second part!
