They transform into the nightmares of legend. But they aren’t Isadora’s greatest concern.
The Sorcerers are always one step ahead. And the magicians at the academy are all that prevent them from crushing those without magic.
It doesn’t matter that Isadora is new to the world of powers. She’s part of the fight now. She must discover those agents, who threaten them in secret, before it’s too late… or the fight will be over before it’s really begun.
Lucía Ashta is the internationally top 20 bestselling author of young adult, new adult, and adult paranormal and urban fantasy books, including the series Magical Creatures Academy, Witches of Gales Haven, Smoky Mountain Pack, and Supernatural Bounty Hunter.
When Lucía isn't writing, she's reading, painting, or adventuring. Magical fantasy is her favorite, but the action, romance, and quirky characters are what keep her hooked on books.
I don’t like the way the story is broken down into such short books. It feels like they are a waste of time to bother with, but that is not why I rated the story so low.
The main character is never in the heat of the action.
She wasn’t there when her brother was saved. She wasn’t there when the decoys were being attacked. She wasn’t there when he was getting his memory restored.
It is not fun to read a story where the action is being told AFTER it’s all over so there is no chance that anything bad happened. We can see who is in the room telling the stories and their description has already been told so we don’t have to worry that someone was truly hurt.
I would not recommend this book to anyone because the style feels so wrong.
This is more like several chapters that try to get you interested enough to buy the next chapter. I bought the 1st 3 books and I am done. One of the main characters in the book does not talk or fit the period portrayed, then there is supposed to be a magical school to learn magic yet after 3 books nothing has been learned. This could be better if the books were actually 300 pages or more, with better language, more in depth characters, more background to each and more how a young girl should act during that time period. Sorry I rarely give poor reviews but I was a bit irked with the books being so short and all the above.
I just finished reading this book and wow! I loved it. Isa and Nando are introduced to two new teachers and they begin to wonder if they can get through one lesson without interruption or feeling like they are completely lost. But through all of that, they are still faced with attacks from the SMS, who are the based guys. Can they make it through one day? Seriously great read.
I got the first four books in this series as a set. Thus, I’m reading them. The comparisons to Harry Potter continue with classes in the care of magical creatures and transfigurations. I wish these stories were more original.
It finally came to some studying, but nothing goes without disruptions. Especially when one of the lessons is interrupted by the discovery of the presence of one unwelcome spy. The arrival of two new odd wizards adds to the extraordinary mixture as well in exciting and humorous way. But Isa and Nando cannot forget the ominous circumstances that brought them into the Academy, and not even all the wonders of magic and magical words can distract them from doubts and worries. A very fast read, exciting and adventurous in an innocent way of a sort, a read suitable for teens and YA most. Exploring the world of magic, where everything impossible suddenly turns out to be possible, brings the young siblings into hilarious and awe-inspiring situations that engage the reader's imaginations. It is very easy to follow the plot development and understand the characters, as their personalities are clearly defined, and there is no way to lose connection with the main characters once you established one. There might be minor discrepancies, but I really did not mind them as the story was written well and spoke to me the right way just when I needed the escape from reality.
POWER PLAY INDEED!!! Ashta doesn't seem to break a sweat bringing this page turning bombshell into another astounding read with a strong plot that keeps your focus on the storyline. All the action, fast paced, suspense filled, excitement and adventure to keep you on a razors edge. The characters were intriguing, complex and realistic. The scenes were so vividly detailed and descriptive that it gives the illusion you were right there in the middle of ground zero with them. Twists and turns abound with nerve racking, thrilling surprises that will keep you spellbound and anxious for whats next. Following the characters as their world continues in chaos with a whirlwind of mishaps and discoveries. Ashta did an incredible job bringing this read to life flawlessly and without a hitch. Great job Ashta, thanks for sharing this remarkable tale with us.
Sometimes you actually can tell a book by its cover. The cover for Lucía Ashta’s Unexpected Agents (Magical Arts Academy Book 3) is truly beautiful, as so is the novel. Isadora is such a wonderful character and it’s a true pleasure following along as she grows and develops - and takes on what needs to be done. Another fine plot, perfectly written and executed as with its predecessors in the series. You really do need to start with book 1 here for maximum benefit but be ready to rejoice when you reach this one as it’s just that much fun. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
WOW, What can I say about this AMAZING little book. I Absolutely fell in love with this addition to the Magical Arts Academy. The Love between Nando and his Sister is so Beautiful, Add in the Hilarious Sir Lancelot the ever so serious Adrianne, but she is also so loving and caring of her students feelings. I am worried about the disappearance of Mordecai's very dead but ghostly Brother Albacus and what has the dreaded SMS have to do with his being out of the Academy. While this is not a mystery novel right now things are being very mysterious and I am on the edge of my seat wondering what will happen next to the students of the magic Academy. I can hardly wait to read the next addition to this magical mysterious series.
Dnf OK, it was a free set of books. 98 pages is a clue. The story started in the first novel, abruptly stopped and read on... OK, it was free... read the second one and it stopped... started the third one... All 4 probably should have been just one book to get a satisfying conclusion. Hopefully.
I had to do a search on the author's name as I couldn't find the first book, and yikes, she has so many books listed. But if they are like this one, probably divide the list by 4 to get a more accurate count of how many books she's actually completed.
I just find it annoying that authors do this, try to get you started on a series so they can sell you more books before you get to the actual conclusion. I just wasn't interested enough to keep going, even if it was free.
The excitement continues with Isa and Nando's story. They're starting to love the new people in their lives, as well as, the wonderful creatures. They're eager to learn magic and of everything surrounding them. They also want to help. Of course the SMS continues to cause trouble which any fan of this series knows can slow the process of direct education. In this book, two new staff members are added to the wonderful characters and two more students. Each book, this one included, always leaves me on the edge of my seat begging to know what will happen next. I received this book from the author and choosing to leave a voluntary, honest review.
They learn about the history of magic. And about the strange firedrakes. Nando seems as awed by everything as Isa. Except I don't know if he is as curious as she is about everything! Unfortunately, it seems every time they have a class something interrupts the class. Two now sorcerers arrive to help teach. SPOILER ALERT: A vampire & a transformation specialist, who is a bit of a drama queen! At the end two new students arrive. One excited to be there, the other wants to go home. I guess we shall see what he decides in the next book. They find out they have spies in their midst!
Lucia has managed to elegantly write another wonderful book in the Magical Arts Academy, without missing a beat. With adventure, plot twists, and numerous things that make you feel for the characters, this was another superb read that I finished in mere hours. I can’t wait to read what happens next in Isa and Nandos next adventure. Will they be able to get through one lesson without something happening? Will the new teachers bring safety, or more confusing feelings? And what will happen now that they finally have a couple more students at the school?
Seems like Nando and Isa can’t get through one lesson at the Magical Arts Academy without interruptions. New teachers appear in hilarious ways. The pigmy owl, Sir Lancelot, gives the first lesson on the history of magic, or at least he tried to before the new teachers arrived. Then it’s one surprise after another including two new students arriving at the academy along with Mordecai and gang. If you’re looking for an exciting magical experience this is the one to read. Pure magical enjoyment!
As usual I couldn't put this book down, and when I reached the final page I was disappointed that it was the end. I can't wait to read the next episode. My old friends Clara, Marcela, Gertrude, Arianne, Gustive and Brave are all back along with Isa and Nando. They are still at war with the Sorcerers for Magical Supremacy. But maybe there's hope yet... I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
The Magical Arts Academy is not as safe as Isadora and Nanno had thought it would be. The SMS is relentless in their attempts to destroy anybody opposing them. Two new teachers arrive -- a bat and a pig -- as well as two new students who have some magical background. Lucia continues to develop the story line as well as introduce new characters. This series is a real page turner that I highly recommend.
This is another winner. This is the beginning series when this Academy was getting started. I read the other series first so I am glad I found this one to how the teachers and the Owl got the Academy and students and teachers and their enemies all got started. I love this series and this author. She writes wonderful characters and great storylines in every book. I highly recommend all her books. Diana Romano
Another great book in this series. The new characters are a great addition to the story. The world building continues to build, as does the plot line. The main character, continues to remain whiny, in my opinion, but it doesn't detract from the story and keeps the book firmly in the YA genre. This book would have fascinated me if I were a 12 year old girl reading it. I loom forward to sharing it with my little girl.
I voluntarily review an ARC. Like the first two books of this series this one is again a fast paced adventure with lots of interesting characters and unexpected turns. Isa and Nando start their magical education and get so many new impressions and meet more ore less human people it's really overwhelming. I can hardly wait for the next part. Highly recommended.
Great story. Lots of action. Isa continues to be a wonderful character. And more interesting characters continue to crop up. Nando's 'something of a personal nature' is a delightful event.
I received a copy of this book as a gift. I am leaving my honest review.
These books have been quite entertaining. But, so far going no where. They seem to just be bumbling along and trying to stay ahead of the threat. Nothing seems organized, and there is no learning. Can’t see the magic in the heroine either.
This is the 3rd book in this series and as each book is going it is also getting better and better. I finished reading this one last night and plan on starting the next book some time today I'm living these characters even the baddies have a way of getting under you...
These books where short and fast to read. I started them and couldn't put them down. I didn't get my reviews in because I didn't want to stop. So much goodness on these books. You are going to like every one of these characters.
We finally get a peek into magical studies! I can’t wait until Isa and Nando actually start using spells. New characters were introduced and a comedic aide was showed. The firedrakes are still my favorite and I want one.
I received this book for free for a unbiased review. Is is a great character. The storyline was interesting and held my attention. The characters were well written and were brought to life. reccomend
Is book is 1 - 4 of a 13 book series. I'm going to post this review to all 4 since it covers them all.
Well written books and a fun story ruined by being broken up into little pieces. Authors really need to stop wasting their time and our money trying to get us buy books that are not whole.
Still didn't really start learning about magic. A certain intruder showed and we could see some characters trying to deal with the situation. The end of the book introduced two new characters, kids that seem to bring more problems.
