The deserts of Egypt conceal the greatest treasure since the Dead Sea Scrolls......and the twisted hate of a master terrorist!
Father Duncan MacDonald, Vatican archeologist, has been doing routine parish work in the States near the home of his friends Joshua and Isabella Parker, who are investigating a mysterious Spanish mission in north Texas. Suddenly Duncan is called away to help excavate an ancient library full of writings by the early Christian sect known as the Gnostics, discovered by a villager in Egypt’s Black Desert.
Working with British archeologist Dr. Katherine Feezel, Duncan begins retrieving and preserving the scrolls and codices from the stone structure, buried in the dunes for seventeen hundred years. Katherine, a lovely widow, stirs feelings that he had long suppressed in his service to God and the Church. Before he can resolve this inner conflict, the two scholars are kidnapped by a savage band of jihadists known as the Army of Allah and their sinister leader, Muhammad Al-Shavadi. Josh and Isabella and the rest of the Capri Team race across the globe to help rescue their friend and colleague, but time is running out – and Duncan must decide how far he will go to save the woman he has fallen in love with!
The Gnostic Library brings the adventures of the Capri Team to a heart-pounding conclusion!
Lewis Smith is a pastor, historian, teacher, husband, father of twins, and a third degree black belt in Uechi-Ryu karate. He is an avid collector of Indian artifacts and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. His first novel, THE TESTIMONIUM, was written in 2012 and published in 2014. His next novel, THE REDEMPTION OF PONTIUS PILATE, was released on May 19, 2015. His third novel, MATTHEW'S AUTOGRAPH, was released in December of 2015. He currently has one work being reviewed for publication and is working on his fifth novel.
I'm a little bit sad that this is Lewis Ben Smith's book, for now? Hopefully he will release another book. I found his books as a result of him leaving a review for a book I had just finished reading. I love historical biblical fiction and was surprised that I had not heard of him before. I loved reading all of his books! I read through them all fairly quickly and now there aren't any more. He manages to get you involved with the characters quickly and easily. I've laughed and cried reading them all and encourage you to read them all and discover your new favorite author.
You can always count on Lewis Smith for an adventure, and The Gnostic Library does NOT disappoint! I especially loved the emotions this book made me feel, even the fear after his characters Duncan and Katherine were kidnapped by jihadists. Pages flew as their team headed out to rescue them, and I cheered them on along the way, anxiously awaiting what would happen both with the rescue effort - and with the budding romantic relationship with Duncan and Katherine (this book has it all, even some romance!) I recommend the Gnostic Library and am thankful that Lewis Smith chooses to share his gift of the written word with the world. Buy this book today!!
