This book follows on from book one but instead of it being about Elizabeth, it’s about her sister Josie.
Josie doesn’t really know what path she wants her life to take, except that she wants to be an actress.
When she moves away from Oxford to work on Oakbrook Farm, she finds that she enjoys working with dogs, but doesn’t feel she is cut out for it. She also meets Sam, the next door neighbour. Their interactions are so sweet and their love for one another grows with each day that passes.
When Josie receives an offer for TV work, she wants to give it a go as she has always wanted to act.
What proceeds is upset, disappointment, and a whole lot of soul searching.
I loved the second book of this series and am swiftly moving on to book number 3!

I recieved early access to this story to read and provide feedback.
The first word that comes to mind is AMAZING. Hannah is such a talented writer. Her writing is easy to follow and paced perfectly throughout the telling. The character development is flawless, to the point you are not only falling in love with the main characters, but the secondary ones as well.
Josie is still finding herself and becoming the person she wants to be, during this journey she finds her relationship progressing with Sam. Sam is a strong, sweet leading character, that has been hurt before, and wanting to find his happy ever after.
I found myself laughing, wanting to cry, and celebrating throughout this story.

I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first in the series. I found it kind of boring really. I don't think I'll continue on with the series.

4.5 Stars I have enjoyed everything I read from this author. Her books are light and fun and contain Happy Endings! They are the perfect beach read, Sunday afternoon read or just when I need an escape read.
This is a sequel to The Cottage at Hope Cove. The story concentrates on younger sister Josie who is struggling to find her place in the world. Recently unemployed (again) and broken up with her boyfriend (again) she moves from the big city to a small town to work at a kennel. I was so happy to see Annette (Kennel owner) making a return and having a bigger part in this book. Also Josie’s big sister Lizzy, and new husband Max are back to add to the reader’s enjoyment. Once again the author is able to use the settings to add a nice dimension to the story.

I will first start off saying I did not read the first book in this series. You don't have to enjoy this book. Josie is a 29 year old woman looking for something in her life. Sam has already found what he wants in life. Their two worlds collide at a wedding. We have fun watching them develop a relationship. Though Josie is way to wishy washy with what she wants in life and can get annoying at times. She will eventually find her way in the end. I hope there is more in this series as I would like to know what happens with Sam and Josie. This is a cute, fun, quick read.

It's a shame that at first I was enjoying this book but ended up feeling disappointed. I think it's because I couldn't have a positive feeling for the heroine. To me, she seems to complain about her current situation all the time. Let's say she wants something and gets it, then she thinks she's not sure she really wanted it, or when she does what she thinks she wants to do, she never does her best and all she does is regretting or be distracted. While reading, I got irritated. I thought I would read all the books of this series when I read the first one, but now that I know the second one was not for me at all, I'm sure I won't continue with this series.

There are a multitude of ways you can see an author’s writing spring to life that isn’t just from the book itself, in fact, this is the reason that I buy more books on the basis of guest posts or interviews or a writer’s review of a book. Here, the dedication itself was enough to make me swoon and settle down, glad I was reading another one of Hannah Ellis’ gorgeous books (Note: the dedication was “To Dua, You deserve the world … here’s a book instead.” Isn’t that so lovely!)
And indeed we are back to another gorgeous book, amazing given that Hannah ( I know her well from being an all round helpful and motivational writerly person on social media and in a writer group we both inhabit) has been probably one of my most reviewed authors on this blog. (You would assume at some stage I wouldn’t connect with a book, as what are the chances I feel so smiley and excited after all her books, but there you go!!)
Here is the story of Josie who we meet at a wedding at the start of her book, dressed in her bridesmaid’s dress and a pair of Converse, speaking to the best man, Sam. Josie has just broken up with her boyfriend and is shocked that she feels a sort of pull towards Sam, given that she’s assuming the break up is just another glitch and they’ll be back together very soon. I have to admit the banter, and Sam in particular, drew me in and I was keen to see where this would go.
Josie was a lovely character too, only changing when we see her with her on/off boyfriend, which reminded me a little of the film ‘The Break Up’ (it always gets me thinking about balancing being naggy and not having to do everything yourself), but soon her and her boyfriend are back together even though she’s agreeing to move to Devon during the week to work in Annette’s dog kennels.
This was another lovely touch. Happy as I was to move to the countryside and enjoy the quirks of country life (in particular the creepy laneways when walking home from the pub and indeed the pub itself with a whole new range of friends for Josie), I was THRILLED that she was going to be working with dogs. The book moved nicely for me and I enjoyed the new friends, the banter, the settings,the drama and the many, many smile along moments. I will admit that just after middle I felt a lull and was afraid nothing would happen but then we went to the one place I’d forgotten we could go and one of the character’s reactions smarted and shocked me! In terms of comedy there were a few very well done, nicely timed moments that had me nodding along. All in all a great book but I’d advise you to move back to the start of the series, to book 1 just to savour it all and meet some other characters that pop up here (here’s my gush about The Cottage At Hope Cove which seems to be FREE at the moment-get it here on Amazon!). This is the second book in the Hope Cove series and is set around a year and a half after the first book. In the first book we got to meet Lizzie, in this book her sister Josie takes centre stage. I actually bought the box set of the first three novels in the series which after reading the first one, I had to dive straight into the second book as I had loved being in Hope Cove so much.
I felt a connection to Josie. She doesn’t know what she wants to do with her life which can be frustrating when so many people seem to know what they want early on and she is still trying to find out. I also couldn’t help but envy her getting to work in the dog kennels being a dog lover. Although it definitely isn’t as easy as it may sound! Whilst this isn’t her dream job, she loves being closer to her sister and you can see Hope Cove working it’s magic on her the longer she stays there.
Sam is the love interest and he is so sweet. You can feel the chemistry between the pair but its certainly a bit of a rocky start for them of which kept me turning the pages to see if they could work things out.
Escape to Oakbrook Farm yet again swept me away with the gorgeous setting and if you are a dog lover, you will especially enjoy this one. It’s a reminder to never give up on your dreams regardless of whether it turns out how you expect or not as better to go for it than to be left wondering what if. I’m beginning to see that these books definitely make you sit back and be reflective on your own life. They are guaranteed to inspire and uplift you. I’m so glad there are lots of books in this series as when you finish one, it has you desperate to read the next as they are so homely and leave you with a wonderful glow from inside.

Although it's a really enjoyable stand alone story, it's also a great sequel to The Cottage at Hope Cove, bringing back Josie as the heroine this time around instead of her sister Lizzie. It's a warm, lovely, closed bedroom door romance and a trip of self discovery as Josie, used to constantly moving on, tries out the country life. She is surprised by how well it suits her until her city life tempts her back and has her agonizing over what she really wants and values.
Ellis provides two men in Josie's life: Jack, Josie's Oxford-based boyfriend who shares her excitement at being part of the acting scene, and Sam, country born and bred. Sam is such a sweetie that Josie has trouble accepting his stubborn refusal to budge on some issues crucial to their relationship. I loved Sam and even grew to like Jack. Ellis writes realistic characters with both strengths, like Josie's energy and drive, and weaknesses like Jack's nonchalant attitude and Josie's inability to commit. The secondary characters are feel-good friendly and benevolent, right down to the tattooed strangers in the small town streets.
I recommend this one wholeheartedly to readers who are looking for a warm, feel-good romance with small town friendliness.

I received a copy from Hidden Gems; this is my honest review.
-I remembered Josie from the first book and she didn't leave a great impression and neither did she in this one and this is her story!!
-I loved Sam; he's a man from my own heart; he knows what he wants in life and plans accordingly. Unfortunately he didn't choose right with Josie, I think.
-The story flows well, the situations are realistic and the people are well-developed in their characteristics, be it main or secondary characters.
-Josie cries at every instance and she was getting on my nerves. People may think she went too fast from one relationship to the other but if you read in between the lines, the one with Jake (-?- can't remember his name now) was dead a long time ago and she already went through her grief during that time. The problem with Sam is that she took everything for granted and might have been too fast with the physical side of things.
-It's still a 4-star because I loved everything else about the book, the setting, the people, the camaraderie with her friends and Annette, the dogs, etc.
-At the end, you still don't know if it's going to work out; nothing gives out that assurance and it's too bad.

Better than Hope Cove
Whist I knew what the happy ending would be, there was at least some strength and independence with the main character, Josie.I
Took me 3 days to read as the story isn't really interesting but suits escapism & light reading. Even so, there are a few sentences that really are laugh out loud. Josie seems to be needy one minute, in her dream world of romance, marriage, children. Then full of independence, walking out on jobs if she didn't like some aspect.
Josie is a likable rebel and I enjoyed reading this 2nd Book car more than Book 1 which was such transparent drivel. I'm not sure I can recommend and if a good friend asked if it's worth reading, I'd have to say NOT. WORTH. WASTING. TIME, then again, not bad as a standalone happy ever after story for a holiday read.

really like
Josie and Sam. Josie is Lizzie’s sister (Lizzie from book 1) and it was nice to meet up with her and Max again. You could easily read this book as a standalone though! Josie is unsure of what to do with her life. She needs a career that she’s passionate about, but doesn’t know what. Sam is kind and I liked that; the world needs more nice people. Their banter was amusing. I read large parts of the book with a smile on my face. It was enjoyable. I really liked it! Although the ending was a bit too fast (page 211 and ‘not yet’, can’t say more because no spoilers here, and page 212 everything solved!), an epilogue or just something more would have been nice. But it was wonderfully uplifting all the same!

I didn't love the first Hope Cove book, but enjoyed it well enough. However, my favorite parts of that book were about the protagonist's sister, Josie—who gets her star turn here.
I love that Hannah Ellis does not make her characters too likable; she builds flaws into them, and often these flaws will be scrutinized in other books in the series, from the POV of other characters. Flaws aside, though, you can't help but like the people that populate the world of Hope Cove and its surroundings. In this, the second installment, Josie often comes across as someone you'd likely not hang around with...but her impulsive decisions become the making of her, and she truly grows as a character, yet still remains true to herself.

Another sweet romance by Hannah Ellis. The second installment of the Hope Cove series.
These stories are brilliant and clean and wholesome. Not filled with pornography that seems to have overtaken my favourite genre, this pleases me greatly.
Josie is a flighty spirited young women still trying to figure out what she wants out of life. It was nice to share her journey on the path to getting her act together.
As a series it melded the characters from the first story beautifully and not just a token appearance as can be all that links books from other continuities. I'm glad Hannah gives us so much more without taking away from the main characters of this story.
I'm moving straight onto the next book in the series.

October 7, 2019I truly enjoyed this book and I love the way Ellis has created thoughtful, down to earth, accessible yet layered characters that are easy to relate to. She talks of real world examples or situations and as a reader you get immediately drawn into the world of these characters and eager to turn pages as the stories unfold. I think she is a great author and I have read several of her other books. I will continue reading this series, and will recommend her books to others! I especially liked the Friend Like These series she wrote, too. She is a talented story teller, and can deal with serious and funny subject matter, and her versatility and depth is appreciated and very entertaining!

The predominant theme of the books, besides the romance, is the need to follow your heart and dreams and be true to yourself. I love that Josie is willing to give up Sam, to try, because not going to London, not trying is much worse than being with the man she loves but giving up on her dreams. I love that she wanted to be with someone who supported her - whatever she decided to do.
I know I've had so many changes, twists and turns job wise. And I've gone years and years of gaining educational qualifications while my other half supported me. So Josie not knowing and taking the time to find her path felt very real to me.

This was a good book.
Josie jumped from job to job and was really never happy in any of them until she let her friends and family talk her into taking a job in the country as a person who helps with dogs. Walking them, feeding them, and caring for them, etc.
Josie had just broken up with her boyfriend. Sam lives just next door and has always helped out at the dog ranch.
They have their ups and downs and there are a lot of things going on. So ……. grab the book and settle down for a nice evening or two.

Believable characters and unputdownable all one one book!

Book 2 was almost as fun as book 1 in the Hope Cove series. This sister is a bit more flighty and it is fun to watch her figure out her life, her relationships and more. It was another fun read but it did include a bit more of a noticeable sexual bent and I did not care for that. It did make me a bit worried about reading the next one in the series. It wasn't graphic at all but it clearly moved into a more worldly action in that realm. Not as good for that reason, though still a quick and fun read.

I really enjoyed this story. My preferred genre is historical fiction but looking through my library I found I'd bought the first book in this series which I'd never read. So for a change of reading type, read it, enjoyed it and bought the next book, this book, in the series which I enjoyed too. I dont normally like so called romance stories which often deteriorate into mushy, sex riddled descriptive writing which I dislike. This was an attention holding story. I will definitely read more of this writer.

Nice romantic story
I liked this story, especially that it was romantic without the nessessity of sex scenes, and also that the main character, Josie, stood up for herself and didn't give up on her dreams and bend to the will of a man. The characters were relatable & easy to like. This is the second book in this 8 book series (and the second book by this author I have read), but I enjoyed this author and will continue this series and then look for more books written by Hannah Ellis.

Honestly this was SUCH a letdown after how much I loved the first book in this series.
Josie is infuriatingly immature given her age, and routinely cut off her nose to spite her face. It was frustrating, and not in an enjoyable way.
Also didn’t love that Max started to turn into kind of an asshole to Lizzie. Why take what was previously an exceptionally lovely, considerate, and caring man and turn him into…. literally any other man?
This series should’ve just not happened. The first book should’ve been a one and done and it would have been perfect.

Josie has lost her job, again, and broken up with her boyfriend, also again. She decided to try working at a boarding kennel, even though she knows nothing about dogs. She gets along great with the owner Annette and the dogs. And Sam, the guy next door. Then she's offered her acting job back, and after a lot of soul searching realized she has to give it a try. Then Sam breaks up with her, not willing to try a long-distance relationship. But she has changed, and she doesn't want that life anymore, so goes back to the country. After all her different jobs, she has finally found what she wants. I liked this book, and all the characters interacted well together. Adding this series to my list.

This is the second audiobook in the series I have owned. I am enjoying the series in this second book. I have at this point felt drawn to the series and have purchased all the individual audiobooks in the series so I can listen to them one after another.
Also, I have waited to listen to all the audiobooks before I have gone back to write any reviews. Josie appears to be a bit of an airhead, but not quite totally. Sam of course is the type of man many wish they had.

I think I enjoyed this one more than the first book of the series! Maybe, just maybe, the fact that Josie works with dogs has something to do with it?! :)
It was also a bit funnier, and I liked Josie's friendship with the other female characters. Again, the story was a little predictable, but it's not like I was expecting gasp-inducing plot twists or big surprises. There's a time and place for everything, isn't it?
Sweet story overall, that once again ended a bit too abruptly to my liking.
