The end is fabolous. I am smiling thinking about it even when I am writing this review. It reunites a trifle appetite for smut and teen angst. I would read the next book in the series just for it. That and, if it stays true to its sister (the first book in the series, aka the book i am reviewing now) it will be a very easy read to go through. The plot is predictable. There are these two love birds (a prince/ a common girl) that are slowly falling in love with each other. In this case, the bonus is that their love can take a more "materialistic" form and impact the reality (break the curse under which the kingdom was put, such an original conflict setting, it is just the fifth book in which I encounter it). But at least the book does not pretend to be more than it is and it keeps in its frames. I mean, the prince does not get much more annoyingly arrogant or more sloppy and sappy during the whole process. She is not that easy to mend and she gets to have some parts of empowerment in there (do not go with high expectations for that part). Overall, it is like a tiny cup of sweet tea. Enjoy it!
The Dragon Prince by Anna Santos is a spin-off on the classic tale of Beauty and the Beast. A kingdom is ruled by a cursed prince. His heart is frozen as ice because of a curse. Until his heart is melted the kingdom will suffer from endless winter. Every so many months a ball is held, and a young woman is chosen to go to the Diamond palace to try and win the Prince’s heart. Some return to the town while others are never seen again. Claire will be the chosen one this time, and it falls on her to try and save those she loves. Can she melt the frozen heart of a Prince who simply wishes to be left alone? Can she accept him for what he is or will his secrets drive her away? The Dragon Prince is an engaging short story, that while it only takes about a couple of hours to read will be a delightful story. The pace is quick so be prepared for things to happen quickly. Claire is a character that I immediately like from the beginning. She is a good reflection of Belle from the original Beauty and the Beast. She’s family oriented and cares deeply for her sick mother. I like that she has a good friend that she cares about. I honestly expected there to be some complication with the friend, but there isn’t. The author does a good job of staying focused on the primary storyline and keeps things very clean. There are a couple twists and surprises in the story that I also like quite a bit as well. While I truly enjoyed this story, I do have some faults with it. I wanted more suspense with the ball scene. Things happen so quickly. I wanted the moment to at least be a little drawn out a bit. I was hoping for a slightly suspenseful moment because of the Regent’s daughter. I think that it would have really added more to the storyline. All in all, I loved this story. It is a reflection of Beauty and the Beast but it is still its own unique story. It’s like Beauty and the Beast but with the Beast being in reverse. I loved it. I am an avid fan of this author and truly enjoy her work. If you are looking for a story with a guaranteed “happily ever after” then this is the book for you. I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. If you have read other books by this author then I recommend you pick up this book. You won’t be disappointed in this paranormal/fantasy romance novel.
I was looking for a short for this evening and this book was the perfect one. A cute fairytale with curses, witches, fairies, dragons and love.since many years, a young woman of eighteen is chosen to be send as a bride-to-be to the curse prince, but none had arrived to melt his heart. It is Claire’s time to be presented as the bride’s selection, as a commoner, she had hopes to not be selected, alas, the regent has an other idea and refuse to sacrifice an other girl from the Nobility. Claire is a nice girl who wants nothing to have to do with the Prince. She is kind, and not interested in the status of a potential queen. Slowly with patience, she will show William he can open back his heart, but will it be enough. William, the prince, was rather inconsistant at first, he got some relief later but as it is a novella, there was not enough time to give him a full personality. The vilain is mad, the fairies nice, if you look for a modern fairytale in the classic style, you got one with this story.
This is a fun fantastic fairytale style read featuring a prince, a girl, a witch and a curse! Nope not a bad joke just a fantabulous read that will grab you and hold you to the end! Great storyline, similar to that of beauty and the beast and great characters making this short read an absolute must!
Can someone please explain to me the cover of this book? At no point does it ever describe what Claire looks like, and it most certainly isn’t anybody else in the book so I’m left with thinking that Claire this common peasant girl is some ethereal Beauty? Oh wait- it’s at the very end. I’m a fan of spoilers but not of suspense. Can we not start the cover of the book with what a main character looks like at the very very end? That brings me to another spoiler...
The title. I feel like there was a lot of mystery and suspense revolving around the fact that the prince was a dragon except that there shouldn’t have been since it was in the title. The title could’ve easily been something like The Diamond Prince which would’ve still fit and allowed for some mystery revolving this particular plot point so that when William reveals his dragon nature in chapter 16ish it’s not something the reader was just waiting to get to.
The overall plot in storyline was interesting and good but the writing leaves much to be desired. A good editor or beta reader would do this Kindle book of world of good. The dialogue between characters was relatively juvenile yet I can still see the appeal to the young adult audience. Though most of everything said could have be said once and not rehashed 3 times, in three different ways in the same scene.
Creative world building, unique spin on the beauty and the beast aspect in a pretty enjoyable read if you can look past the rough lack of editing
Half the book she talks about how much she hates the rich, how they do nothing and that people are starving near her hut but as soon as she goes to the big house she just doesn't care anymore. She is in a great position to be of help to the people but she just never talks about again. She doesn't tell the king about the to high taxes or the fact that people will probably leave once the curse is broken. She makes a book club where they read romance novels and that's all that makes him happy? You need to figure yourself out my dude.

I want to be honest here : I didn't finish the book. And maybe it would had been better after the 34% of the book, maybe not, maybe I'll find more problems.
At the first chapters of the book, I already was getting annoyed by the characters. And from all the characters met until I give up, it was the regent daughter who left a big impression. Yeah, Deborah. Hope that's her name.
She's your clichée spoiled bratty rich girl. For whatever reasons, the author even decided to write in the pov of this character. It was only important because : hey, this girl is coming to the castle. But she leaves minutes away.
So no mystery. Nah. The mystery has to be set only for William, the icy prince. Speaking of him, maybe I just didn't grasped well the description of him but he didn't seem a monster to me. Does he has claws? Nope. Fangs like a shark? No. Oh! Horns? Fur? Nej.
Think of whatever weird and ugly things, whatever you could come out with wasn't part of the description given.
So why he's a monster? Because he has pale skin, blue eyes and light blond hair. I know. That's totally a monstrosity.
His personality is of an introvert who acts like a spoiled rich brat. Not at all a monster. Nah. Really. He pointed his sword to Deborah who came and been annoying, she came without initiation and was rude. That apparently makes him a monster. Not sure if people know how it was done before... If he had guards she would be thrown first in the dungeons and questioned later, something he said he'll do at first by the way. Throwing Deborah to the dungeon, not the questioning part. He actually questioned her quite calmly. For a "monster".
His personality changes to a more warmer tone for no explanation other than plot. Could also be because the MC, Claire, told him he was like Deborah. After a few more days, I believe. We don't actually have dates set. Maybe much later in the book.
Again. I dropped the book at 34%.
Let's speak about Claire here. She's in the story to get the happy ending with William. To break the curse. Realize William isn't a monster. (Again, where the hell does she looks at him and thinks he's a monster by his body? He's just a cursed guy.)
That's it. That's the sole reasons why she's there and the only things I can tell someone. Is she absolutely pretty? We can't trust what it's being said. Is she nice? Her personality did a 180° from chapter 1 to the moment she enters in the castle. In that precise moment. She is only what the author needs her to be. She's hollow to me like everyone in the book.
The flaw she has is also one the author and William needs : because apparently she's too honest and says what's on her mind. Something that is just about William. If she was a blunt person her attitude with Deborah would be different.
We had 3 pov on those 34%. Two for the Regent at the beginning, never came back, will appear once more likely further. One for Deborah. Then Claire's. Claire, I can understand. The Regent ? Interesting at first but then after that not. Deborah? Already discussed.
There's more I could point out but I his seems to be long enough...

This is a Beauty and the Beast retelling, with plenty of similar points. We’ve got Beauty, the cold, rude prince under a curse, small, cheery, helpful servants, and an opulent deserted palace. There are scenes of Beauty warming up the Beast’s feelings as they play in the snow, and a fancy-dress party, and even the point where she leaves to visit her family. Just like in Chasing Cinderella, this one stars another superficial young woman who obsesses about dresses and looks, which was really odd in this case since her family was supposed to be dirt poor. It was almost like her family being poor got forgotten at some point since there’s a scene where she steals a horse from her family (why didn’t she just ask?) and nothing is made of it. I never really clicked with Claire, and I never really clicked with the Beast William either. He never cared about the people of his kingdom and he said as much. Sure, in a Beauty and the Beast tale, the beast grows to care about the girl, but I never saw any sign of him potentially caring about the people outside the palace. I did like the selfish girl who tagged along with Claire in the beginning and thought she definitely added a comical, new direction for the story, but then she was disposed of and sadly never touched on again. And I did love the kingdom trapped in perpetual winter and how the villagers made do. The dialogue waffled between modern phrasing (which sat oddly in a fantasy fairytale setting), stilted proper phrasing (which Claire’s mother used to talk to her on occasion), and over-dramatics. In all, it’s a short, clean retelling, very light on the romance, and in the spirit of some of the Disney movies.
What a wonderful, lighthearted and fun read! I found this short story to be quite a fast-paced clean paranormal romance. The author has put a unique spin on the classic Beauty and the Beast story. One that features dragons! I would love to read more stories in this world, which I think will be forthcoming eventually. Claire is a likable character and is very strong in her beliefs. William was the perfect ‘beast’ and I wholeheartedly understand why Claire falls for him. If you love fairy-tale retellings and paranormal romance then I recommend this book to you.

This is a unique take on Beauty and the Beast, with a bit of everything curses, witches, fairies, dragons and love. Claire is a sweet girl, selected to melt the prince's heart, but she wants nothing to do with him. I truly enjoyed all of the fun the fairies and Clarie got up to and the time. I was extremely intrigued by the prince, so much so that I wanted to hug him to make him feel better. It is worth reading to find out his story. I highly recommend this book, you will definitely enjoy the creative world and how the characters face their enemy. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was the first book I've read by this author, and I was slightly disappointed. The premise of the book had a lot of promise. I thought I'd really enjoy it, & it started out good. However, it just fell flat. The character development was severely lacking. There was nothing there to connect the reader to the characters, & the dialogue was pretty much ridiculous. I don't think I'll be reading anything else from this author.

I Highly Recommend this book it is amazing. I loved how it is similar to Beauty and the Beast but with it's on twist. Prince William Dracon is cursed by the Queen of the Ruby Kingdom. In order to break his curse he has to find true love. Things get a little more complicated once the Queen gets wind of the newest girl who is chosen to try and break the curse.

I love Beauty and the Beast so this book intrigued me. It had a slight twist with the Beast being able to control the weather when he's in a bad mood and how the village was cursed along with him. Claire was relatable to me and I enjoyed her character. The Prince was not as likeable at first but Claire grows on him and he comes around. The story was intriguing and I would love if it were a little bit longer.
Prince William is cursed and only a kiss of true love can break the curse. Claire is sent to his castle as the newest maiden to try and melt his heart. I loved reading about how Claire and William fell in love and how their love was so pure and so strong it was able to break the curse. I enjoyed reading this story and look forward to reading the next book in this series.

I enjoyed this new fairy tale. It has similarities to the old "Beauty and the Beast" story, but the author puts her own unique spin on the tale. It is a quick read with a sweet heroine, cursed prince, witch villain, and adorable fairy companions. It's pretty low angst with the HEA ypu expect from a fairy tale. I look forward to more in this series.

Another captivating story by Anna Santos. A very nice retelling of beauty and the beast fairy tale story. I was seriously sucked into this story! The world building is very good. As for the characters themselves, I loved all of them! Can’t wait to see more of all these characters again in the next book. Highly recommended!

He is a Prince with an ice cold heart and his moods affect the weather so it is always winter. Each year a lady is sent to see if they can break the curse. The witch who put the curse on does not want it to end. Can anyone break the curse? See if anyone can

Claire was a great character who was chosen to try to melt the prince's heart. This was a fun story with fairies, princes and shifters. I enjoyed the way the two interacted and the way the story developed. The Dragon Prince was a likeable character who was cursed and Claire who didn't want to be sent to his palace made the best of things. Loved it!
This story was fun to read. A bit like beauty and the beast as well as the snow queen/king. The characters were engaging and entertaining and their interactions were fun. The storyline was fantastic. Definitely want to read more fairytales retold.
A new series and I know I want to read the next book this story had me turning pages I had to know what was going to happen. A well-written story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story, a tragic past makes William a cynic when it comes to love, but Claire is just what he needs to make him happy again, the fact that she is not interested in his wealth or person make her his perfect match.
I couldn't stop reading this book. I loved the characters and I loved the fact that it mirrored a fairy tale but adapted it . Can't wait to read the next in the series
Just finished reading this book and I loved it! It’s a nice and fast read and I’ve loved William fr. Can’t lie it was a bit short for my liking but literally perfect bc it didn’t rush anything and everything had a perfect flow
Anna Santos never stops amazing me with her stories. I loved The Dragon Prince with its world build to the character builds. I want to read more in this series and can not wait to see them soon.
I thought it was quite an experience reading this book, the challenges were well written and the plot was good as well written scenes make it all come together.
