Wanted: Discreet Dominant gentleman to teach maybe-submissive woman the rules of the game. No whips, chains, paddles, handcuffs, ropes, or toys. No nookie. No creepy stuff. No butt stuff. No gluten. Just the facts, Sir. Serious enquiries only. –CuriousCat4
When I see the ad in the Portland Alternative’s “Love Wanted” section, I can’t resist the urge to respond. Yes, it’s dangerous—as a star forward for the Badgers I have a reputation to protect—but I miss the thrill of calling the shots in the bedroom and reading that ad is the first time I’ve laughed in months.
So I reach out to Curious Cat about the “educational” opportunity...
A few sizzling—and hysterical—emails later we arrange to meet. I’m hoping we’ll have chemistry, and I might finally be on my way to getting over my ex-girlfriend.
And then the gate to the beer garden swings open and in walks Hailey.
My ex is Curious Cat, and this experiment just got a hell of a lot more complicated. But I never back down from a challenge—on or off the ice.
I keep my educational offer on the table—six weeks of submissive lessons. Six weeks to learn how to drive a Dominant man crazy, and then we part ways as friends.
What do I have to lose? Except what’s left of my heart?
Author of over forty novels, USA Today Bestseller Lili Valente writes everything from steamy suspense to laugh-out-loud romantic comedies. She can't resist a story where love wins big. I am always in stalker mode for more of this author and series. Discreet Dominant and Curious Cat were worth the wait as this second chance romance ticked all the waiting boxes! All was well, great in fact, or so Hailey thought. When they broke up, they both were left with many, many questions and a feeling of loss so profound, it couldn’t end that way. It just couldn’t…
How they reconnected and rebuilt those intimate ties was a lesson in self-control and soul-searching that was hot and emotional satisfying. So many questions – and answers to them all – came slowly, as they built back the bonds of honesty and trust. There were tears and laughter plus a chance for me to connect with the characters as they went through it all. I devoured each page much too quickly as I felt their pain, and experienced their joy.
With sisterly love and support and a friend for Will when needed, they weren’t alone in their journey. So while I didn’t want this story to end, I admit, Bree and Shane are on my radar and I can’t wait to read more about them! ~Diane, 5 stars
I had a problem with the fact that Will didn't trust Hailey enough to share a part of himself with her during their 5 year relationship.
The sex scenes between them were hot, so that made up for some of the incredulity I felt about that.
Things didn't pick up for me until the end after what happened with Bree and then all things that happened after that. Then I really perked up getting Bree's chapter at the end of the book.
Pucked Up Love is the fifth book in the Bad Motherpuckers series but the fabulous and talented Lili Valente. Lili is one of my go to authors. I always know she's going to hook me from the first page and keep me hanging on and flipping pages until the very end. This is one of my favorite series'! Sexy hockey players are a definite must for me! Lili's early books are sexy, erotic romance with dominant alpha men. Pucked Up Love bridges Lili's early books with her romcoms. Sexy, hockey playing Dom? Yes, please! Will and Hailey broke up a year ago. Will still hasn't moved on, but after seeing an ad for a Dominant gentleman Will can't help but respond. He wants to help Curious Cat. He wants to be that man again. The one who needs to dominate. But when Curious turns out to be Hailey, he doesn't know if he's happy or mad. Why does she want this? Who does she want to be submissive for? Will can't say no. Maybe this will be the closure he needs. Or, maybe it will be their second chance. Pucked Up Love is an epic second chance romance with a side of Dom/sub and I loved every word. I laughed, teared up, had to fan myself and just wanted more Will! If Lili wrote an entire book of just emails, I would be the first in line to buy it!
I don't want another woman. I want this woman, this sweet, sexy, delicious woman.
"I get it," I say. "What do you get beautiful?" "Not knowing what comes next is part of the fun," I say as he sets me on my feet. "The uncertainty and being just a little bit scared - it makes everything so much more intense."
I love Hockey romance books. Pucked Up Love was hilarious, endearing and of course hot. I enjoyed this story immensely.
Will thought things were going great with Hailey and then he popped the question. That's all it took. After 5 years of blissful happiness she was out. Even though it's been a year he's nowhere near over her but she hasn't returned a phone call or reached out to him so he's decided to do his best to move on. He sees an ad in the paper for a Discreet Gentleman to teach all he knows about being a Dom to a woman that thinks she may be a sub. This is a side of himself that he hid while in a relationship and Will is ready to get back into the game.
Curious Cat is interested in exploring the D/s world so that she can learn more about herself. She's always considered herself a pretty tough chick but after some extensive research she learns that the D/s power exchange doesn't mean that the sub is weak. She really wants to explore more and see if maybe leaving her guy was a bit hasty rather than talking to him about his Dom side.
This book sizzled. I loved that the author didn't drag out the whole mystery part of Curious Cat and Discreet Gentleman. Once the two meet and really get things started it was hot, hot, hot. But, more than that it was a story of healing and trust. I really loved this take on the D/s trope. It was different and just added a ton of depth you don't typically get with this type of read.
It wasn't a relationship. That dumb woman ran for a reason, and THAT was when she had it good!
He's extremely selfish. Impossible to imagine he was ever the man in the beginning of the book. It was like a split personality. It seems initially like he is grooming her Promising one thing with the intent to turn it into something else. She will do anything to get him back. And she does.
And honestly, her too. How did she become such a pathetic loser.
I thought it was okay that he got counseling from a friend about he and Hailey sex life.
Hot heavy, tender connected is what Hailey loved about their relationship before she found out he was 'unfulfilled '. He said in their initial relationship he loved her strength and everything about her and didn't want her to ever change.
She doesn't even have anything anymore. And they both go on and on how independent she is. It's gas lighting the reader.
I just didn't care for the extreme change in their dynamic. She gives up everything, he gets everything. It's not a relationship, it's a service she provides.
It seems strange/unnatural because of the initial reaction.
It seems ludicrous they would go into a bdsm thing having absolutely no discussion about why she left him. It was truly unbelievable, illogical
I think what I dislike about bdsm is that the experience is distinctly one sided. Each person only experiences their side. It is not, in any way, a shared experience. It is kind of parasitic.
Also there is no logic to the idea of only bdsm and no love making because that would be too much. This story is not logical and not believable.
I think they are acting stupidly and ridiculous, using the bdsm to block the relationship they should have been trying to fix all along. It was completely backwards.
Alleen serieuze gegadigden.
I really like this series, it's funny, sexy, and very entertaining. This fifth installment is no exception, yet I felt like there was so much going on. Maybe a little too much.
Will and Hailey have spent 5 years together in blissful happiness up until he proposed and she broke things off. As it turns out, it was all because she overheard him talking about his dominant side, something he kept hidden. That's a bit problematic, but let's move on. Now it's been almost a year since their break up and Will is finally gives moving on a try, that's why he answers the ad of Curious Cat. She's looking for someone to educate her about the scene, hands off. Because that's what Hailey's been doing for the past few months, trying to understand this side of the bedroom to see if it's something she'd enjoy so she'd get Will back. The results of their expirement suprise them both but Hailey's not only curious, she's still a bit fidgety and very much undecided.
I'm not sure what I didn't actually love about this. Maybe that there was only a few short glimpses into their past or that Hailey kept changing her mind. I mean, it actually took Will getting into an accident and her thinking he's going to die to take back things she said just hours before. I also thought the dom/sub scene has been perfectly described, in detail and in an educational way, yet the scenes could have been executed better.
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**
It's books like these that make me want to watch ice hockey on You Tube as we do not have it where we live, especially if they are anything like the Badgers in this series.
This book will have you with yet another favourite member of the team in Will and the fact that he was willing to deny a part of him for Hailey.
After a year apart Will and Haley meet up again after an ad in the paper, not knowing who will be there after the initial email exchange. It is through this that the pair reconnect and Will patiently teaches Hailey what it would be like should she wish to have him as her dominant in the bedroom.
Poor Hailey has had a bit of a rough time after battling leukaemia and the thought of BDSM initially scared her away as Will was her first.
The characters really pull you in and you cannot help but hope they get together and are able to iron out the little kinks that stop them from being properly happy.
I really hope there are more books in this series as each book becomes my new favourite.
Ok I think this is the most intense book I’ve read by Lili. The intensity of the love that Hailey has for Will to do the research in his lifestyle choice once she finds she can’t live without him. After 6 months apart, they were together for 5 years and she found out a secret of his and she felt she wasn’t good enough for him. So she set out to fix it of course she didn’t expect him to answer her ad. Then the intensity that they had will he was teaching her the lifestyle of D/s was off the freakin charts!! It was so freakin hot and steamy that I needed my hubby plenty of times!! I highly recommend this book!!! - By Tina
This was a 2.5 for me, but rounding down as it was more on the 2 side then the 3 side.
This was my first Lili Valentine book.
I liked the writing, but the story I left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I actually read book 6 after this and REALLY liked it. So I think it was 200% this story more then the author
* * * * * Spoilers * * * * * To sum up what was going on. At the start of the book Will is 31 a pro hockey player and a Dom in the bedroom. Haley is 23 in the fitness industry and had cancer as a child (its mentioned quite a bit, but doesn't come into play at all). Will and Haley started dating when she was 18 and he was 26 (8 year age gap that I feel is actually important to the story because of what happens). Dated for 5 years but have been broken up for a 1 year (both been celibate during that time).
Why they broke up...On the night Will proposed to Haley she overheard him tell a random guy that he wasn’t satisfied with their sex life because it’s too “vanilla” because he is a Dom. So Haley breaks up with him. Understandable if you ask me. BUT doesn’t tell him the real reason (cue 22 year old hearing her 30 year old BF is a Dom and having NO CLUE what all that means. I get where she was coming from).
Cue 1 year later…
Long story short, Haley decides that she wants to learn more about the BDSM lifestyle because she knows NOTHING and still loves Will (he still loves her too). SO she seeks help from guy on the internet.
Turns out it’s Will.
SHOCKER!
They basically get into a non-relationship purely sex where he in essence “trains” her to see if she can be a Sub/what is means/what it’s all about.
Now here is where I start to get a bad taste in my mouth…
Will knew he was a Dom when he started dating Haley.
Like he was a member of a sex club, boy wasn’t playing around. He said he was reluctant to share that side of him with her because she was a V and young. So he packed his box of kink away in the closet and there it stayed for 5 years.
Why in that whole time didn’t he say something to Haley? Clearly it was something he needed (or thought he needed) in the bedroom, so why not talk to her?
YOU WERE GOING TO MARRY HER YET DIDN’T FEEL THE NEED TO BE HONEST WITH HER ABOUT YOURSELF???
I’m not saying he needed to drag her to a sex club and shock her, but it could have started slowly and had discussions around this.
He states, even to Haley, at one point during their “training” that they are dealing with emotional territory but he doesn’t take that into account when going about “training” Haley. Clearly she would have felt more comfortable if they did this at the same time as having an emotional relationship too. But Will only seemed to care about himself from that respect. Not a very good Dom...
Towards the end of the book when they have a break because of what happened to Haley’s sister, Will says that he doesn’t need the kink in his life if it means he doesn’t have Haley. Was literally happy to give it all away.
So why would he start a purely sexual relationship with Haley to “train her” if he didn’t need the lifestyle long term? What was the point in seeing if she could be a Sub if he would happily give it all up? And why tell someone else that you weren’t really satisfied with your ‘vanilla’ sex life if you are willing to go back to that?
WHY EVEN BOTHER GOING DOWN THIS ROUTE WITH HER IF YOU DON'T NEED THIS IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP??? WHY NOT JUST GET BACK TOGETHER WITH HER???
Did he NEED to be a Dom? I felt like it went from being a MUST HAVE to being a CAN LIVE WITHOUT. Will's need to be a Dom one minute and not the next gave me whiplash.
It didn’t make sense to me…
Also when Haley told him she overheard what he said he basically was like I’m sorry I didn’t tell you but well we should have communicated more…WHAT a missed opportunity!
He could have sat down with her and said ok lets have it all out, lets get all the feelings out on the table and see if we can work through this. Sure it’s a year late, but lets discuss this because clearly we want to be together.
I know I’m putting a lot on Will but he was 8 years older, had other sexual experiences and clearly knew ALL about this whereas Haley had only ever been with Will and knew NOTHING about this lifestyle.
He should had sat down with Haley and had a proper discussion and actually tried to rebuild their relationship in totality and it just didn't sit right with me.
I can't get enough of these Portland Badger hockey players!!! Just when you think that one of them is your favorite, Lili Valente goes ahead and makes you fall in love with another one:)
Will Saunders has it all, a successful hockey career, great friends and a woman that he's about to propose to. But when the moment comes and he's down on one knee his girlfriend Hailey does the unexpected...she turns and runs. Now almost a year later Will is still trying to move on and get back to his normal life, which just happens to include a little BDSM. After keeping that part of his life a secret he decides it's time to get back in the game.
Hailey Marks wants to make Will happy more than anything but when she accidentally discovers his secret she freaks out and bails. But after living without him she begins to rethink her stance on the D/s lifestyle. If only there was some way to learn about it and see if it's for her. Maybe she could find herself a Dom teacher to show her the ropes...
This book is equally as sexy as it is funny. The characters are lovable and a pleasure to read and throw in some of the other Badger players and it's bound to be a good time. I would highly recommend this contemporary romance.
I’m not sure there has ever been a contemporary romance more aptly named than Pucked Up Love if you replace the P with an F. Let me explain. As the story opens Will and Hailey who had been blissfully living together for 5 years have now been estranged for almost a year. Because almost a year ago on the night Will was planning on proposing to Hailey she overheard him talking to someone where she learned that Will had been into BDSM before he got together with Hailey. Will tells the man that Hailey is too strong and independent a woman to ever play submissive in the bedroom so their sex life is vanilla. But he also says he is madly in love with her, giving the guy a laundry list of why she’s so wonderful and why he’s willing to leave that part of his sex life behind forever for her. All that registered with Hailey was that Will liked being a Dom. And was hiding that part of his personality from her. So when he proposes she tearfully rejects his proposal and breaks up with him fearing she could never make him totally happy. To me the idea that after 5 years of living together and being madly in love with each other and being sexually intimate, Will has never tried to introduce the most mild parts of BDSM in their bedroom to test the waters is pretty difficult to believe. Even harder to believe that in a relationship as solid as we’re told theirs was, instead of telling Will they need to have a discussion in private before she can accept his marriage proposal, she rejects his proposal and then pretty much ghosts him for a year instead of after having time to calm down, suggest they talk about what is bothering her like a mature adult would. IMHO that’s fucked up. Now because this is a contemporary romance the story begins with Hailey now missing Will terribly decides she wants to learn more about the BDSM lifestyle. If she can be okay with it she’ll reach out to Will and try and restart their relationship. If not, she’ll let him go forever even though she’s still in love with him. So she places a personal add for an experienced Dom. to give her the lowdown on what’s involved with being a submissive. Because you know she couldn’t get the same information from the internet. And of course, Will sees the add not knowing its Hailey who placed it and responds to it. They exchange a few emails and eventually agree to meet in a public place where they discover their identities. Well of course Hailey can’t tell Will she’s investigating that lifestyle to see if she can be what he needs so she lets him believe she’s doing it for another guy she’s interested in. Even though it’s killing Will to think Hailey wants to play submissive with another guy he agrees to be her teacher in what was supposed to be a platonic non-physical way. Which they both almost immediately agree to abandon for a more hands on form of instruction. About the only realistic thing in this story so far is that Hailey surprises herself by actually being perhaps a bit turned on by the idea of acting submissive and being tied up etc. even if finds the idea a bit frightening. Of course from the first time Will ties her to her headboard Hailey takes to the entire Scene as Will refers to it, like a fish to water. But even while her body craves the submissive role and the sexual satisfaction it brings, her mind questions the whole idea of a strong, independent woman submitting to a man’s commands in the bedroom allowing herself to be tied up, spanked etc. Will’s plan is to show Hailey how sexually satisfying BDSM can be for both partners and that he is the man she should be seeking that satisfaction with. But after their first BDSM experience when he asks why she’s doing this for another man, she tearfully confesses it was really for him but she didn’t want to get his hopes up in case she didn’t like it and couldn’t get back together with him. They agree to try to limit their relationship to just student and teacher until she’s sure she can be what Will needs. Here’s where I got a little confused. Even though Will has told her that he’d gladly give up “The Scene” before he’d give up her, suddenly they both seem to be in agreement that if Hailey isn’t comfortable with BDSM they won’t get back together. Even more confusing is that even after Hailey shows she's on board with everything they're still acting like they're not sure she's going to be comfortable as a submissive so they're trying to keep some emotional distance from themselves. At this point in the interest of full disclosure I must confess I don’t get that kink at all? I don’t know why a person male or female would be turned on by being tied up, spanked or ordered around like a sex slave? I’ve read all the explanations before about how freeing it is for the submissive to give up control and not have to make the decisions. It usually a woman with a very important demanding job. That the submissive is really in control. That there’s a fine line between pleasure and pain. I still just don’t get it. I definitely don’t understand why things like spankings or nipple rings are a turn on for some people? But different strokes for different folks I guess. We spend a lot of time getting acquainted with Sabrina, Hailey’s younger sister (who has given up being a super model to tend bar until she goes back to college to become a therapist) and Wallace the young hockey goalie on Will’s team. What happened to all the money Bree made while being a super model I don't know but she's tending bar and living in a crappy apartment. I thought this was an okay book. Hailey and Will and Sabrina are all good people and the conversations between the two sisters were entertaining. Okay, I don’t get the BDSM kink but it certainly adds a sexy element to the story. There were just too many holes in the plot for me to really love it.
As sweet as the story could be sometimes, I felt like both Will and Hailey had muddled conflict and character arcs, which resulted in the story being weaker overall than it could have been.
Let's start with Will. He's a Dom but he shelved that because when he got together with Hailey she was young and a virgin. Whether or not that was the "right" thing to do from any larger perspective, in terms of honesty or protectiveness or female empowerment or whatever, Will successfully stopped being a Dom for the five years of their relationship. They didn't break up because he couldn't handle denying that part of himself anymore; he never brought it up at all, Hailey overheard someone else asking him about it.
She quite rightfully was upset that she didn't know this big thing about the man she was possibly about to marry, and ghosted him, basically.
But neither ever fell out of love with the other, and that's the first problem with this story's conflict--when I stopped to ask myself, at various points through the book, the "why aren't they together now?" question that's so vital to a well-paced and -plotted romance, the answer was usually just "One or both of them has their head up their ass, and not in a reasonable or relatable way." Will tries to keep their new teacher/student relationship just sex first because he mistakenly assumes she's interested in BDSM because of a new man in her life, though that gets cleared up quickly. (More quickly than I expected, actually.) And after that, he's doing it to protect himself from the consequences of failure, if you can even call it that--because what if he lets himself be in love with her again and she turns out not to enjoy all the kink?
That's where my problem with this arc lies--he was perfectly willing to not be a Dom to Hailey for so long, and his Dom-ness wasn't the actual problem she ran from, it was that he never told her about it, which meant you could substitute any sort of deep secret that's not kink and the result would be the same. On top of that, throughout the story Will displays continued interest in being with Hailey no matter how, and eventually states directly that he'd rather be vanilla with Hailey than kinky with anyone else. So, quite literally, what's keeping them apart?
Nothing. Or just Hailey being stuck in her own head about what she needs to be for him, versus being herself, except in the end "being herself" also means being kinky. And while that's a legitimate character arc in terms of growth, it mostly involves her flailing about wildly in terms of personality, not trusting herself in ways that were painful to me to listen to (as I got this on audio) and basically being a wishy-washy uncommunicative woman. For all that Will stressed honesty and communication as necessary to "the game," both of them at various points in the plot fall down on that, in ways that felt more frustrating than understandable.
It's really interesting to me to read other reviews that skewer Will for his actions, because in the end, from my perspective, Will never did all that much wrong. Sure, he probably should have told Hailey at some point during that first relationship about his Dom tendencies, I'll agree with that. But throughout the entire story he consistently put Hailey's needs before his own, while she floundered about trying not to be a hot mess. Yes, the whole point of the plot was that she was attempting to change herself "for a man," and that's not great, but also Will didn't put her up to it--it was her decision, and coincidence brought them back together. Hailey was consistently the one making snap judgments and bad decisions and inflicting her troubled emotional state on everyone else around her. Honestly, I don't like her much. Her backstory and her inner narrative are constantly harping about what a strong person she is because she's a cancer survivor and a self-defense teacher and a small-business co-owner, but the plot constantly demonstrates she's a deeply confused woman who, despite Will's solid efforts to educate her, doesn't really understand what submissiveness is about, even if she enjoys it in the moment. She first equates submission with weakness (and later with assault and rape culture, which was acutely painful to listen to even if I knew the author didn't believe that because this was Hailey's final obstacle to hurdle over) and even in the end, only figures out that consensual kink is fine because it's consensual and not rapey, but without ever acknowledging that submission requires/encourages a person to be mentally strong, in order to trust and transfer power. I was disappointed she never got there, so her personal arc felt incomplete.
And Will doesn't really change at all.
This is definitely the weakest entry in the series so far, to me, but there's only one left to go, and I really like Bree as a side character so I'm intrigued to see where her romance goes in the final installment.

Pucked Up Love is the fifth book in the Bad Motherpuckers series by one of my favorite authors, Lili Valente. I recommend reading the previous books because they kickass but you don’t have to to enjoy this sexy, fun, and sweet story. The synopsis sums up the story wonderfully so I will try to make this short.
It has been almost a year since Hailey walked away from Will. The only man she has ever loved. She had her reasons. He had to accept them. He didn’t like it. She was the love of his life and he thought he was hers. They were not together for 5 months. It was five years! And one year later after the break up, he was edging closer and closer to going back to the BDSM lifestyle that he was apart of before he fell in love. And what better way than to give guidance to a woman who wanted to know about being a submissive. No sex. Just lessons. He could do that. Easy, right?
It would have been if Curious Cat, the woman he had been emailing for weeks wasn’t his ex. She wanted to learn more about the lifestyle for another man. He hated thinking about Hailey with someone else’s hands on her. Especially, if she was going to be with another Dom. One who could hurt her if she didn’t know what she was getting into. They decide to move on with the lessons. Six weeks to show her what kind of pleasure and pain she could be getting herself into. Will she graduate top of her class or drop out?
I do love a good second chance romance and is definitely one that I loved. Will and Hailey’s story is full of heat, laughter, friendship, and heart. They definitely have aspects of their relationship to talk about. They want to be happy and to do that they need to be themselves. One hundred percent. To be honest with each other. To communicate. To trust. Can they get everything out in the open if they decide to give their love another chance?
Overall...I loved these characters! Will is fucking hot, sweet, supportive, and fun. Hailey is a badass who is trying to find her way. They made me swoon, flushed, and cry! I loved every minute of it and can’t wait for the next book.
P.S. yeah...I know, it wasn’t short.
Quotes:
“I didn’t know you played the piano.” “I didn’t know you liked tying women up and spanking them,” she says, her breath rushing out before she adds, “Sorry. I didn’t mean that. At least not the way it sounded.”
This kiss stakes a claim, makes demands, and issues a warning—back away now or prepare to be taken in ways I may never have been taken before.
“Yes, Curious. I will make you sorry for being such a bad girl, and then I will make you come so many times you’ll forget your own name.” “Never been fond of my name anyway, sir.” She presses a kiss to my cheek that is every bit as sweet as she is.
Once again, Lili Valente has penned a puckaliciously fun, hot and sexy hockey romance. We had a little glimmer of Will and Hailey in earlier novels in this series but Pucked Up Love gives us the completion of their story which I know we have all been anxiously awaiting.
Though their hearts were joined for years, when she learns that Will has been holding something back in their relationship, Hailey runs away from the match she always believed was perfect. Now it’s a year later and neither Will nor Hailey’s hearts can let go of the love that had always consumed them. So she’s decides to open her mind and take a chance on learning about the world of dom/sub relationships in the bedroom to see if the perfect fit she always believed they were goes even deeper. But when the ad Hailey places in hopes of delving deeper into new experiences, she is stunned to discover that Will is the one who answers it. Now as they both try to keep their feelings shielded as they begin to partake in the “lesson plans”, their hearts become more entangled than ever before. But is this new world in the bedroom which ignites passions in Hailey she never knew existed what she is really looking for, and can they both find a way to make this change in their relationship bring them back to the happily ever after they’ve always wanted to share together?
As with each one of the couples which came before, Will and Hailey quickly pulled me back into the Bad Motherpuckers series and kept a tight hold as a turned each page. The shenanigans they share in the bedroom virtually set my iPad aflame as the heat of passion ignites their souls helping them to discover together a world they’ve never experienced with each other. It’s always fun to revisit all of the Badgers and their lady loves that we’ve met in the past which remind me each time I pick up a new addition to this series how much fun, hot and sexy they all are. Wow Ms. Valente! Pucked Up Love is another score (puck in the net if you will) for this series.
Well, my husband enjoyed listening to this book in the car during a road trip lol. He never listens to my audio books, so I went for it. At one point when I stopped for a bathroom break, he said 'hurry back, I have to see if Will lives' lol. So he was obviously paying attention. He enjoyed the smexy scenes the most I'm sure. They were decent to me, but nothing amazing that I'd remember later on.
My biggest problem was with Hailey and her 'this lifestyle is so bad and toxic to women' attitude. It literally took the possibility of Will dying for her to grow up and get a clue that what she and Will were doing was not wrong or even close to being the same as a women being sexually assaulted. It infuriated me to no end for her to start with that BS when things got too tough for her outside of their relationship. It was bad enough that she dumped Will for the simple reason that she didn't like what someone said about Will's former D/s lifestyle. They had been together for 5 years and she didn't even have the respect for Will to bring up why she was dumping him with no warning? Granted, Will should have been more open about his desires well before that, but as he said, he was willing to let that go if it meant he was with the woman he loved.
Will was sweet, dedicated, hot and dominant, but not overly dominant. I viewed his D/s desires to be pretty vanilla compared to other books I've read.
The ending was interesting and funny. I know I'll read the next book even though the plot is absolutely absurd based on the end of this book.
Alleen serieuze gedadigden. – CuriousCat4 “
Funny, sweet and sexy as hell, you will absolutely fall in love with Will Saunders! When Will and Hailey were together he hid something pretty important about himself, mainly his dominant tendencies in the bedroom. She thought she was holding him back so she left him. They have been apart for a year now and Hailey has decided she wants to see if she could be everything Will needs because she still loves him. She puts an ad in the personals for Submissive lessons and low and behold guess who answers the ad? The shock was something else to say the least but since Will never stopped loving her either, this seemed like fate to him. This is such a good story that had me laughing, swooning, tearing up and smiling so much! Their banter back and forth through email and their interactions in person both in and out of the bedroom are chock full of sizzling chemistry! Can their lessons turn into a lifetime? Can Hailey be what Will needs? Will she want to once she sees what is involved? Does he really need that to be happy with her? Will she truly enjoy it and want that life for herself given that she is such a strong independent woman? Will he still respect and love her if she does? Don't worry, no cliffy here. All these questions will be answered in this sexy story. I love this series and all the bad motherpuckers!!!
Pucked Up Love is the fifth book in the Bad Motherpuckers series from the great Lili Valente, and it continues with Will and Hailey. The night Will was ready to propose, Hailey went running before he could get down on one knee. Left stunned and confused, Will had to go on living without the love of his life. What he thought was a done deal was anything but.
Hailey was so happy with Will and a future with him was everything she ever wanted. That was until she discovered Will's secret desires, and the man she thought she knew was anything but. Questioning whether she could meet all of his desires, Hailey became Curious Cat. A woman in search of finding answers about a world of dominance and submission. So when Discreet Dominant answers her ad, Hailey and Will are thoroughly surprised to find themselves standing in front of each other. Could this be their second chance at love or will Hailey go running for the hills for good this time?
Will and Hailey turned up the heat and their relationship was a great addition to this series. I couldn't put the book down and loved how they both uncovered a side of each other that was intriguing, riske and exciting.
Both still reeling from their recent breakup, Will and Hailey deal with it in different ways. As a player on the Badger’s hockey team, Will pushes himself on and off the ice. Hailey falls head first into her job working at a gym, teaching self-defense classes, and spending time with her little sister/best friend.
Feeling a little curious, Hailey places an online ad to find someone to teach her about the BDSM lifestyle. She emphasizes that the lessons will be platonic, information-only ones. Will sees the ad, and decides to respond to this student to offer her lessons. After getting a reply to her ad, Hailey and her “Gentleman” professor exchange a few emails before meeting. Neither of them are prepared to come face to face with each other. Both still hung up on the other, for their own reasons, they decide to proceed with the lessons, and see where things go.
I love this second-chance story. Lili gives you all the feels in this one. There are lots of laugh, plenty of dirty talking, a few years, and your heart is filled with gooey goodness. I absolutely loved this, and can’t wait for the next in this awesome series.
Oh my gosh!! This is by far, my favorite book in this series!! This is book 5 in the Bad Motherpuckers series and just when I thought it couldn't get any better, it did!! This story is SO different!! I was definitely captivated from the beginning!!
Hailey loved Will so much, but decided to walk away. Why would she do that? Well, you must read this book because what a journey Lili Valente takes the reader on!!
Will is into BDSM. However, he loved Hailey so much that he gave up that lifestyle just for her. He never told her he was into it. When she broke up with him he was crushed. After a year, he thinks he's finally ready to try his BDSM lifestyle. He gets sidetracked answering an add on a website to be a "teacher of BDSM". No sex, just a lesson. For whatever reason, he decides why not!
I love this story for so many reasons! Second chance love is always a good thing, and the scenario that this author sets up has me not wanting to put the book down!! Will is hot, patient, loving, and so in love!!
This was an ok read for me. I loved the story line. They were together four years before breaking up. Will was into the Dom/sub scene before Hailey and put that life behind him for her. She didn’t know about this past life and when she finds out she breaks up with him thinking she’s too “Vanilla” for him. Fast forward one year later. Hailey decides to seek outside help to educate herself to see if she can be a sub and win Will back.
I loved that she wanted to try and educate herself to see if the lifestyle could be for her but I hated Will’s approach. He is completely in love with her and never stopped but he tries to keep it just sex between them at first instead of having a more intimate connection, something they both miss and crave. I get he’s committed to teaching her the Dom/sub ways but I think they had a strong relationship to begin with and they could have incorporated his lifestyle slowly into it as opposed to it being all or nothing.
I find I either LOVE the ones in this series or they are just ok. I will still read others.
Super interesting premise! I LOVE that Will and Hailey have history, important, special, loving history. I LOVE that Hailey is doing educational research and truly trying to find out if being submissive is for her. She isn't just doing it because Will is a Dominant. She is trying to go into this with her eyes, heart, and judgement wide open. This is a great book for those curious about whether you would enjoy reading D/s storylines, and those looking for an introduction to the games/scenes. It's not completely open door to the more pain side of the pleasure/pain spectrum. It shows some open door in the beginning, and as Will and Hailey's relationship gets more intimate, more D/s, there is fade to black until after. It's a very comfortable introduction. I really really loved the discussion about submission vs assault. Submissives should and do hold a lot of the power, and Dominants must absolutely take care of their subs. And most importantly the relationship, games, and scenes are completely consensual.
This series is so good, I’m loving it. Will & Hailey have a different kind of story compared to the others so far. There’s is a second chance at their relationship after a hidden secret is discovered & caused their relationship to end suddenly. The beginning was cute as Will answers a personal ad in an alternative life section only to find out that Hailey his ex-girlfriend & love of his life is the poster of the ad. As Will becomes Hailey’s teacher in the ways of submission he vows that she’ll only ever submit to him. The heat intensifies as their studies become more & when the truth comes out in the lust filled moment they realize they could’ve been spared all the pain if only they’d communicated better. Fate soon steps in though to throw a wrench in their relationship & it takes a serious injury to make them see their truth. Loved how strong, loving, supportive & meant to be these two were. Definitely recommend.
If you've read any of the other books in the Bad Motherpuckers series, you will already know Saunders (Will) and have read a small bit about Hailey. We finally get to find out what happened with them and how they ended up in the position they are currently in. Like the other members of the Portland Badgers, Will is a lovable character with flaws of his own that make you want to pop him upside his head one minute and kiss his boo-boos the next. Without giving any spoilers, this is one book that you will want to pick up at your earliest convenience. Well worth the price!
