This anthology collection has been collecting dust on my digital bookshelf so I decided to finally read it. I am happy to say that I enjoyed the reading experience overall. I did not like as many stories as I expected to. Some were too short to really sink my teeth into; others felt nonsensical and made me cringe with either the plot or the dialogue. Also, the book has made me realize food play is not necessarily for me. The thought of putting sweets in some of the places mentioned made me shudder with repulsion. Still, here are the stories that I very much enjoyed:

Ice Cream That Never Melts by SekouWrites
Squirrel Nuts by Debra Hyde
Frosted by Kristina Wright
Other Girls by R. Gay
Sugar High by Drew Griffiths
How I Learned to Love Making Strawberry Jam by Dale Cameron Lowry
Heaven on a Saturday Night by Valerie Alexander
Lemonade by Melina Greenport
Out of the Park by Emerald
Banana Afternoon by Jolene Hui

DNF @ 78%. Welp I'm grateful to this collection for one thing: it taught me that food stuff is definitely Not My Kink.

I mean, I kinda knew that going in, but (attempting) to read this confirmed it. Tbh, short stories are also tough for me (I have a long attention span, if that's a thing) and the ones in this collection are REALLY short. So if 1) food porn especially sugary treats revs your engine and 2) you are looking for a wide variety of super-short stories, give this a try.

Also, if this one doesn't work, Bussell has other themed collections to try - she does a great job of including diverse stories, in topic and in authors.

Somewhat spoiler-y reviews of all the stories I read are included below, the ones I liked in bold.

Six Layers of Sweetness - this one actually is kinda sweet, older woman dating again.
Turkish Delight - um, exoticism? Yeah didn’t work for me though those Turkish delights are gross lol.
Cinnamon Secrets - this FF involving candy apple is hot!!
Ice Cream That Never Melts - a stalker-y office romance? No thanks
Phone, Sex, Chocolate - I like the emotional layer to this ff story, but the sex act...yikes.
Old Fashioned Fudge - this is a story about POC but I didn’t really like the narrative voice sadly
Mulled Wine - ah those kinky gay boys & candy canes. “Let’s go find a holiday orgy” - cute.
Squirrel Nuts - a man being bossed by a woman, who enjoys being made fun of for having small balls “squirrel nuts” 😱
Sugar On Snow - sweet romance between two older women in a snowstorm.
Frosted - cinnamon roll frosting blowjob. Ew.
Just Like Candy - a fantasy hookup revolving around red lollipops
Forbidden Fruit & Honey - haha! Erotica with an edge. How surprising and nice!
Other Girls - eh. A carny & cotton candy. Don’t quite get why this one isn’t like the rest?
Cling - omg, bitches be crazy. Plus taffy.
Box of Colors - a wife gets exactly the take-charge husband she wants, and macarons. Sweet & boring.
Sugar High - I like this one because MMF and sugar but wow, what a mess.
Business Trip - mom of 2 enjoys submission from her business traveler hubby. Just when it got good it was over.
How I Learned to Love Making Strawberry Jam - a gay boy’s first time. Sweet.
Sweet Tooth - a French mistress entertains her man with candy improvised as sex toys.
Heaven on a Saturday Night - power play FFM with cake sitting. This worked for me, sigh.
Sugar Thing - a MF couple trying to give up sugar substitute sex instead when one of them cheats (eating sugar). I can relate, haha.
Lemonade - nice that the male protagonist is in a wheelchair, the neighbors bond over lemons though it did seem to come together quite fast.
Out of the Park - a baseball fantasy?! Fucked while watching the field.. I can’t get into it lol.
Cuberdons - a candy sweet in Belgium, just like this vacationing couple. Yawn.
Azucar - a beautiful piece from 1975, older Colombian woman and younger (I assume) white woman with anorexia. Loved this.
Banana Afternoon - so messy!! A woman bakes cupcakes and also has sex with her partner between.
Sugar Mama - a woman who knows what she wants uses treat to seduce & have sex with her new bf
Green Chile Chocolate - I like the ABQ setting. Otherwise the older Hispanic man / younger married white woman setup did nothing for me

Didn't read:
Rosehips Are Red
Concessions
De La Rosa
Kneading
Peppermint Delight
The Fat Box
Cupcake

Editor made it free on Amazon during 2020 pandemic so I grabbed it.
This is perhaps more mainstream than the footdom stuff that was the previous free pandemic book I saw/read.
But ... I eat hardly any sugar anymore. It doesn't mean I don't crave some on occasion--I still drool over the pastries at my local bakery/market, for instance--but I no longer indulge as it makes me feel very bad, very quickly. And then there's always the crash but that's tertiary, at best, to the immediate, intense, not remotely fun or enjoyable storm throughout my mind and body.
Anyway, generally good overall.
BUT. I feel this ought come with some serious warmings--which I guess would be a turn off in erotica--but I cannot imagine that it is remotely healthy to get any of the assorted sugary treats in these stories in any orifice except the mouth. Also, I guess clean up isn't much of a turn on either. Anyway, it seems most of the stories ought have a Do Not Try This at Home warning.

Rachel Kramer Bussel is known for gathering the sexiest erotica...and with Candy Lovers: Sugar Erotica, she's done it again, this time with a variety of sticky and sweet to go with the sexy goodness! The stories contained in Candy Lovers are sure to satisfy the sweetest taste buds...I particularly enjoyed the broad mix of candy/treats and how they were integrated into each story. In some cases, they were a central focus, and in others, a backdrop to spring off of into something a little deeper. There is also a solid blend of refined, more literary pieces alongside more playful ones—a perfect candy store of options for every treat craving! (And no, I'm not talking about just sugar here.) Fun theme, plus sexy stories from R. Gay, Shanna Germain, Salome Wilde, Tenille Brown, and many more! Loved this delicious anthology.

I will read anything with Rachel Kramer Bussel’s name on it. I am never disappointed and I certainly wasn’t with this collection. I am a huge fan of short erotic stories and anything sweet, so this anthology pushed all the right buttons for me. This is a varied collection and there is something for everyone’s taste. Great to read to your special someone and there is definitely some inspiration to be found in these pages. Definitely recommend.

Same usual erotic stuff

Same stuff with a twist. Each scene feature a type of candy. The use of the candy went to the bazaar to the hottest eroticism. There are some ideas that I will definitely try.
