Bowen Boys #4

Jacked Up

Rate this book
Since James Bowen married Elle Cooper’s sister, tall dark and handsome Jack Copeland has become a permanent fixture in Elle’s life. A silent, rather annoying fixture, with his arrogant aloofness and my-way-or-the-highway attitude rubbing her the wrong way. So she does what any self-respecting woman would: aggravate the wits out of him for fun.

Party girl Elle Cooper is everything covert operative Jack Copeland doesn’t want in a woman. Outspoken, sassy. A smartass. Too bad when he closes his eyes, all his mind conjures is her. To everyone else, he comes off as intimidating and unapproachable. Everyone except Elle. So he does what any self-respecting man would: stay the hell away from her. But when Elle gets herself in deep trouble, all of Jack’s protective instincts kick in and keeping his distance is no longer an option.

With Jack and Elle in such close proximity, sparks are flying all over and it’s only a matter of time before they ignite. The only question is, who will kill Elle first, the vicious drug cartel hunting her or Jack?

After a colorful array of jobs all over Europe ranging from translator to chocolatier to travel agent to sushi chef to flight dispatcher, Elle Aycart is certain of one thing and one thing only: aside from writing romances, she has abso-frigging-lutely no clue what she wants to do when she grows up. Not that it stops her from trying all sorts of crazy stuff. While she is probably now thinking of a new profession, her head never stops churning new plots for her romances. She lives currently in Barcelona, Spain, with her husband and two daughters, although who knows, in no time she could be living at the Arctic Circle in Finland, breeding reindeer.

Personal Overview

Jack is the epitome of 'Tall, Dark and Handsome'. His mysterious behaviour, silence and permanent scowl only make him more appealling. But due to stay-way vibes, very few dare to get close to him. Within those we find only the Bowens, and the bane of his existence, Elle Cooper.

Elle is the exact opposite of Jack, she's sassy, flirty, the true life of the party. She never stops, always doing something and on the move. She represents everything that Jack doesn't want in a woman, or so he hoped...LOL...

“She was all that he would ever want in a woman. Except for that attitude of hers. That would ruin everything. It would drive him crazy. He could never trust her, and she would never be happy staying in, making a home for him. Her priority would always be her work. Her agenda. And he was playing with fire. She affected him just by being close to him. Not good.”

Teasing Jack is one of Elle's favorite past-times, and in the year and a half they have known each other, even with rarely meeting, every chance she got she took a jab at him. Due to his stoic attitude she nick names him Borg, and it's what she always calls him.

“It would have been funnier with you, of course, barrel of laughs that you are. Life and soul of the party, really.”

Especially after James and Tate's wedding, where they were forced to interact more, much to Jack's dismay, since they were best man and maid of honor. From that point, with Jack going undercover, Elle took it upon herself to constantly emailing him, to updated and tease him, of course. Even though he never answered the emails back, they got very closer, because they were a bit of a lifeline to him, not to lose himself in his mission on the criminal underworld. Her teasing was the highlight of his day.

“Just wanted to be the first to congratulate you on your birthday—or your assembly day—however your kind of people are made.”

But when he comes back and Elle's gets in some major trouble, he is the only one who can help her, not that he gave her much choice...LOL

Being forced to live and working in close proximity to her, makes all his previous efforts to stay away from her, go right down the drain...They couldn't deny it anymore, the chemistry and sexual tension between them was already off the charts before, but now, it took seismic proportions. And everyone was well aware of it (how could they not?! ;) ) even with them always being in denial.

“I knew this was going to happen if you spent any time together,” James continued. “The only reason it hasn’t happened earlier is because you avoided her like the plague.”

Of course, when they can't deny it any longer and give in to their attraction, they are still too stubborn to see what's right in from of them, and try to embark in a temporary sexual relationship (because we all know how great those work out *cue snort*).

“The obey-me-or-else tone, the one that demands servitude. Doing things on command is not a skill I’ve acquired or have any interest in acquiring,” (

They allow themselves to explore this magnetism, but always put up mental blocks, so that their hearts wouldn't get involved. They genuinely thought they were all wrong to one another. It's a true case of 'There Are None So Blind As Those Who Will Not See'...

“Crazy attraction none withstanding, she knew there could never be anything between them. They would drive each other insane. But that was just as well, because she was not looking for love or a relationship. Heck, she wasn’t even sure sex was a good idea. Every time he kissed her, her damn heart stopped and her core flooded. Such raw passion. Such intensity, in the kiss and in the hand restraining her. She didn’t like being held in place, being told what to do, and that was all he did. He was a rock and she would never get him to move. And yet, for all her sound reasoning she couldn’t deny she wanted him, badly.”

“Fucking her was mind-blowing, and he couldn’t deny enjoying her wiseass comments and their back and forth outside the bedroom, but he was thirty-six. It was time to stop jerking around and plan for the future. Elle wasn’t his future and he wasn’t hers. She needed an easygoing, laid-back guy that would let her do her thing. He needed a dedicated woman. They would drive each other insane. Love didn’t grow out of conflict. Sexual chemistry did. And building your future on your dick’s whims was a very shaky foundation.”

The crazy chemistry combined with their incessant ribbing, gave place to some off the charts, burning hot sex scenes, where Jack always asserted his dominancy. And we all know, by now, that Elle is so not the submissive type. LOL

“You can’t take me on. I like my women tied up. Ball-gagged. Blindfolded. Plug up their asses. Pussy spread open for me to fuck it however I want. If I take the gag off, it’s to fuck their mouths.”

He was going for shock effect, not that he was exaggerating much. That didn’t shock her. She just whistled. “Wow. No wonder you forget they’re in your bed. How do they communicate? What about the safe word? Do you give them a pad and they use their fingertips to Morse it to you?” She imitated Morse-code-like sounds and added, mimicking a robot, “Tap. Taptaptap. Please scratch my nose. Dying here.”

Rest assured, those are not into kink, because this is not a BDSM book. Sure Jack could be anything but dominant in the sex scenes, as well as in life, as he pointed it out, so, besides the sporadic hand restraining, a blindfold at one time, and some anal play at another, I would never consider this story in that genre. After all, Elle is anything but submissive and there was never pain involved, not even spanking. He would never hurt her, he even said as much.

“You do know me. I have told you things I haven’t told anyone. Things very few people know about me. And when you say nothing affects me? You are wrong, pet; you affect me. A shitload. I don’t want you to, I actually hated it, but you do. More than you think.”

I absolutely loved this story and characters. Their constant banter, and the combination of his broodiness with her sassy attitude completely grabbed me to the book. I can sincerely say that Elle was one of the most genuinely feisty female MCs I have ever read, her come-backs were awesome. And their magnetic pull, like I said before, allied with his intensity was just panty-melting!

I had been anxiously waiting (like so many of you) for this book and it was totally worth it! I love the author's writing style and character building.

I have to point out how so very helpful Elle (the author) was with my pain-in-the-ass self, answering all my questions and clearing up some points I had during my read. I know not all the writers would go to so much trouble after writing the book, so again, thank you so much! And kudos to you for being such a interactive writer!!!

Congratulations Elle, for another fantastic addition to this already awesome series. I can't wait for Morgana's book, I love a kick-ass heroine!

"I love your kind of pushy, pet. Never doubt that. For the record, we aren’t a good fit.”
She froze at his words. “No?”
“No. We are a fucking perfect one."

I say when we are done and we are not. Not by a long shot. You've been taunting me for months. Years, pet. Now that you got my undivided attention, you can't say you don't want it. You can't back down. I won't allow it. You've been asking for it. For me. This is what you get: me. I'll tie you down and fuck you so thoroughly you will be limp by the time I'm done with you.

Do you like broody, protective uber alphas who prefer monosyllabic conversations unless they're in bed and letting their inner caveman do the talking? Do you like sassy as hell heroines that give as good as they get and have more zingers than an episode of SNL? Do you like a sizzling hot sexual chemistry that brews even hotter with a slow burn sort of pace the author sets? Do you like your erotica written perfectly balanced with an addicting sort of story and a dash of suspense thrown in? Well lucky day! Because do I have the book for you!
She sighed. "That tone is not going to go down well with me, Borg."
"Which tone?"
"The obey-me-or-else tone, the one that demands servitude. Doing things on command is not a skill I've acquired or have any interest in acquiring."

If you've read the previous books in this series, then you'll remember Elle Cooper, Tate Cooper's sister and now James Bowen's sister in law? If you haven't, no worries, because you can easily read this book as a standalone and not be even slightly lost. Jack Copeland is James's shadowy and grumpy friend that now has a tie to Elle that he's not too happy about. The woman infuriates him almost as much as she turns him on. And Elle absolutely loves to tease Jack to within an inch of his sanity.
Who's that?" one of the women whispered to her.
Judging by his language and social skills, the missing link between humans and monkeys.
"A friend of my brother-in-law."

Elle is exactly the kind of woman Jack doesn't want; fun-loving, slightly flighty party girl that doesn't take much in her life seriously...unless you take aggravating him as a thing, because she does that real well. But beneath the zingers, insults and barbs they throw each other's way, there's such a heavy undercurrent of lust, that you find yourself squeezing your legs together until that final big boom you know is coming and these two will finally CUMbust.
You don't want to fuck with me, pet."
"But I do."
"You can't take me on. I like my woman tied up. Ball-gagged. Blindfolded. Plug up their asses. Pussy spread open for me to fuck it however I want. If I take the gag off, it's to fuck their mouths."

Jack does an upstanding job avoiding all things Elle, until the day where Elle lands in life threatening trouble and Jack is determined to protect her at all costs. He'll do his job and walk away afterwards, but Elle is determined to make him lose all reason and patience in the process.
You think I can't even look at you? I want you so fucking badly I can't even breathe."
"Well, I hope your ninja training includes holding your breath for long periods. Or let me ask at the counter, they might have an iron lung somewhere. Either way you said your dick is not in charge here, so order it back to its cave and don't waste my time."

I gobbled up this book with a pervy sort of glee I haven't felt in a long while. I loved these two together. Nothing beats a good hate/love scenario for me, and boy do these two serve that up on a silver platter. You can't help but love Elle even if she lands herself in scenarios where you'll want to throttle her. Jack is everything I love in an alpha; broody, slightly crass, protective, and a dirty dirty man in bed.

The sexual chemistry between them was so hot, it practically crackled on the pages. I appreciated the slow burn approach the author took and not throwing them into bed together right away. I love a good sexual tension and this book certainly had that.

But beyond the super sexy romance and fantastic characters, Jacked Up had a great plot that served to tie everything together flawlessly. The suspense was the perfect touch. It wasn't so intense that it took away from the romance, but it was the perfect spark to spice things up even further.

Jacked Up was the perfect combination of sizzling hot erotica, romance, and story. If you haven't read anything by this author yet, you are seriously missing out.

On a side note here's a particular secondary character that I'm beyond thrilled will be getting a book because I was salivating for his story the entire time.

Jack and Elle have a love/hate relationship from the moment they met, two years ago. Elle loves to push Jack’s limits and Jack does his best to keep Elle and her annoying ways at arm’s length. Until the day Elle finds herself in a very dangerous situation and Jack jumps in to help her…and when does the time they suddenly spend together leads to break every of their limits. But Jack is a guy that doesn’t want to get tied, and neither is Elle. But can they ever go back after crossing that line?

I’ve been waiting for this book pretty much from the moment I’ve read the first book of the series, a few years ago, and I was introduced to Jack and Ellie and their banter. I’ve got to say that no, it’s not my favorite book in the series, but it’s exactly the story I imagined (and hoped) for them. It’s packed with action, sexy, sweet and their relationship makes it a hilarious reading. I’ve said before that this series and seriously underrated; these books are sexy, fun and they have an amazing love story behind.
If you haven’t started this series yet, I strongly advise you to do it.

Characters Development: Jack was the asshole anti-hero you hate to love. He was a little hard headed in the beginning, but with the progress of the story he really grows up and you end up falling in love with him. He’s not your traditional sweet and kind hero, but he’s definitely an alpha and you’ll love it. Elle is a nice girl, and she’ll definitely make you laugh, but she’s slightly immature and her mind is everywhere, which annoyed me at several moments, but overall, she was a nice heroine.

5 - "I hope you know what you're doing." Stars!

I am a huge fan of Elle Aycart’s Bowen Brothers Series, each book while hard to put down has also been completely different from its predecessor.

The series has progressed in general as each brother has found and fell in love with his woman, but each Bowen has been deliciously different with their own personality traits, quirks and occasional piercings!

"I'm in charge here. And I'm never proper."

Elle is related to the Bowen’s by marriage, Jack by friendship. Both have featured in the previous books quite a bit, but Jack has been elusive in his appearances, while Elle has done her level best to rile him up. So basically the two most polar opposite personalities that you could ever expect to meet. Introvert to the extrovert, one a people-pleaser the other a please them-selfer.

"I prefer my women silent."

I think one thing that you can determine straight off the bat with these two is that it is not going to be an easy ride. Both are difficult yet likeable characters, and being completely opposite from each other on pretty much everything really does bring about a nice amount of friction to the slow burn of attraction that builds between them.

"I like my women tied up. Ball-gagged. Blindfolded. Plug in their asses. Pussy spread open for me to fuck it however I want. If I take the gag off, it’s to fuck their mouths."

One thing I loved (and I wasn’t sure I would) is that they didn’t jump into bed with each other immediately. It wouldn’t have worked in conjunction with the storyline and extreme circumstances that the author has playing out around them, and considering they have been circling each other for quite a while now, it was great reading how Elle, gradually broke down a lot of Jack’s walls during the time they were together.

With her around, everything was a mess – which he hated – but without her nothing felt right.

We delve into the realms of romantic suspense with Jacked Up, and the author really stepped up to the plate with this change in story direction from the previous books, it wasn’t all about Jack and Elle, and there is a huge amount playing out around the building of their connection to each other.

"Walking away from each other is probably the smartest thing to do. But I don’t want to."

The hunter/protector eventually becomes the hunted.

Elle gave me all that I wanted with this book, a lot of which I didn’t even know I needed, this couple, and the series as a whole are still absolutely stellar. Prepare yourself for a few surprises as you get to know Jack and Elle on a deeper level, appearances are certainly deceiving when it comes to this couple. You get the usual banter between the guys with James, Cole and Max playing their own parts in the story as the book progesses.

I laughed, cried a couple of times and as usual got a little 'damp' at the sexy-times between them. Ladies (and men of course) you are in for such a treat with Jacked Up!

"You are and always will be my pet."

This is going to be short and sweet:

I love this series.

I love this author.

I love Elle Cooper [even during those few times when I wanted to shake some sense into her]!

I love the banter.

I LOVE Jack!!!

Elle Aycart writes SCORCHING sex! [Note to self: never to read her books while on a treadmill at the gym.]

If you are a fan of this series, this is an absolute MUST READ! You'll laugh, you'll probably cry (a bit) and you'll definitely get hot and bothered! It's been so long since I read this author that I almost forgot how much I enjoy her writing. I hope we get another book in this series because that ending ... LMAO!!

Cheers!

P.S. Even though listed as book 4 in the series, 'Jacked Up' can easily be read as standalone.

☆ I received an ARC via the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you! ☆

Jacked Up? What an appropriate title. "Jack" was another scrumptious short-clipped, alpha dominate man oozing with sex appeal. I swear this man is a no nonsense, don't mess with me type, and is all about keeping Elle- the object of his affections and ironically, the BIGGEST pain in his arse-- from harm.

Jack and Elle's chemistry is what I'd describe as "pent-up frustration," in which, I refer to the dance they do around each other when they're clearly drawn to one another. Jack is pretty much this uptight, scarred character who lets no one in and Elle is this free spirited and feisty spirit. They bring a lot out of each other, and we see Jack's armor cracking and Elle growing tremendously throughout, which is highlighted with a bunch of bickering and hot, hot sex!!

I've been waiting for Jack's story to be told and I felt that Elle Aycart, *hmmm, did she name the female protagonist after herself?! hehe*, did him justice! I loved him with Tate's big sis!! Definitely, a riot that one that gave Jack a run for his money and attracted a hell lot of trouble!! Good thing though that Jack has a knack for undercover, mercenary work!! That man, is certainly one that you want fighting in your corner!

For those who think this is the end of the Bowen series, just wait, because the ending will turn your head upside down!! Sure, baffled me and made me laugh at the same time!

Love this series!!

Jacked Up was the fourth book in Elle Aycart’s Bowen Boys series. The Bowen brothers have all found their forever love but Jacked Up featured James’ best friend, Jack, and Tate’s sister, Elle, from book one, More Than Meets the Ink.

Elle was gorgeous, quirky, fun, snarky, independent, creative and a little crazy. Her antics had landed her in trouble on many occasions but her charm and resourcefulness had gotten her out just as quickly. Well with everyone except Jack. Jack was an undercover agent, with whom we weren’t actually sure, but he had the big grouchy, brooding, reclusive, protective vibe down pat.

Elle had a huge heart and was up to her normal shenanigans when she was at the wrong place at the wrong time, which gave her knowledge of a murder. Jack was called in to “shake down” a witness for information and instead was shocked to see Elle. He immediately went into protection mode and the drama began. Albeit humorous drama, but drama none the less.

Jacked Up was well written and fun with only a few editing errors. It was written in a multiple POV; Jack, Elle and members of the drug cartel that were after Elle. I loved adding in a drug cartel story to keep it suspenseful but at times it was confusing. Even at the end, I’m still confused on a few items. But it was fairly fast paced, full of mystery and intrigue, and a boat load of sex.

Although the Bowen brothers are all paired off, the series will continue. No spoilers here, but the next story is Hard Limits with an unexpected hero and I can’t wait to see how Aycart will pull it off. Additionally, we had a teaser on a long lost adopted sister. It appears we’ll see more from her as well. And don’t forget Jack’s sister, Ronnie, please let us see her story too. Until then....

I absolutely love this series - the Bowen brothers are alpha sexy, so it makes sense that their friends would be as well, and Jack, or as Elle likes to call him "Borg," is even more stubborn and dominant than the Bowens, which may seem like a recipe for disaster given the fact that Elle is an independent and feisty woman who can give Jack a run for his money in all aspects of his life, but she actually is his perfect match, and when her life is in danger, Jack and Elle realize that their idea of what’s "perfect" for them is anything but.

I’ve always only seen Elle as Tate’s sassy sister; a woman who has a smart ass comment for everything and is a worldwind of crazy, chaos, and fun. But in Jacked Up, readers see beyond Elle’s party girl facade and understand the pain and guilt she feels for being the girl who always ran away from responsibility. There’s a lot more to Elle than what she allows those around her to see, and when she has no other choice but to allow Jack Copeland to protect her, he strips away her barriers and sees the grieving woman she is and he can’t help but give into the feelings he’s always had for her but never felt safe to act on due to his job, her attitude, and his perception on what he wants in a woman.

Jack definitely comes off as a brash asshole who seems to always be in a bad mood but given the type of work he does, it makes sense that assimilating back into “normal” life would be trying and given the fact that Jack is used to calling the shots and intimidating those around him for Elle to not back down from him and to piss him off as much as turn him on, his attitude towards her is realistic.

Jack and Elle’s relationship is one that has a bevy of sexual tension, power struggles and unending torment, and while most people would find this type of connection unhealthy, it seems to work for them because their banter and arguments make them that much hotter for each other and turns into a connection that may not be anything they would have thought they wanted but it’s exactly what keeps them coming back to one another for more.

Elle Aycart is an amazing writer who knows exactly what her readers want, and she gives it all to them in a wonderfully crafted, steamy, and suspenseful read.

Jack is a quiet man who wants a wife who will be devoted to him and have his babies. That is so not Elle!! Elle is this little firecracker that at any moment pop. So much chemistry and the drama are so there. The steamy scenes are of the chart!! Love it and I can't wait for the next book. And it will be a next book.

“Jesus fucking Christ, Elle had fried him. He shook his head, trying to snap out of it and regain his bearings, but the lethargy didn’t go away. And he had James’s fretting voice asking for a status update in his ear.

“Found her,” he muttered. “Heading out.” Well, as soon as he could get his shit together and scramble to his feet.

“Oh God, Borg, are you okay?”

He wasn’t sure; he hadn’t been roasted before. “What the fuck were you doing?” he grumbled, struggling up.

“Rescuing myself, of course, like in Shrek the Third.”

“Shh… What?”

“You don’t know Shrek? Of course not,” she said rolling her eyes. “I was rescuing myself. What did you think, that I would be here lying around and waiting for someone to do it? You okay? Did I hurt you?”

He cursed. He was soaking wet too.

“Sorry for frying you. On the plus side, you won’t need to get a perm, ever.”

She wasn’t making a lick of sense. “What?”
“Kidding. What are you doing here?”

“What am I doing here? I came to get you.” Her look of disbelief said it all. “You thought I wouldn’t?”

“Jacked Up by Elle Aycart is the 4th book in the “Bowen Boys” series – but it was my first by this author. It is easy readable as a standalone novel even if there are references to the other books.

The characters are developed just perfectly for each other. We have the secretive dark and interesting Jack – that seems far too serious for just the slightest bit of fun – Hence Elle’s “Endearment” for him when she calls him “Borg”

And we have Elle – the woman that is more butterfly and party girl than anything else and naturally she cannot be taken seriously – can she ?

And yet there is something about her that will not leave Jack alone and in his darkest hours, where he should be focused on his job it is Elle that brings light … She is never giving up on making him feel .. showing him the sparks of life he seems to be missing.

Their witty banter carries the story. He never acknowledges what it really means to him that she is never giving up but when push comes shove he is there for her.

Still the final questions are not only if the sparks flying between those two great characters are enough to create a fire. But also if they will survive the trouble that is following them…

5 "The first time I saw you." Stars

I needed something fast and fun. Irene recommended I read Jacked Up and I'm so happy she did.

Elle Aycart does fast and fun so well. She also does witty banter to perfection. And the sex was scorching hot. Jack and Elle light up the pages of this story with their undeniable chemistry and hilarious back and forth points of view. They fight hard and love harder even when they don't want to admit it. Jack Copeland is dead SEXY. He's the rough, growly alpha who finds his love interest to be a real big pain in the rear yet completely irresistible. I ADORED watching him succumb to quirky, hilarious charms. And Elle Aycart is a carefree fun loving girl who loves nothing more than to tease and torture Jack. The two of them truly are just plain fun.

Aycart's writing in the third person flows effortlessly. I felt immersed in the story and read it quite fast enjoying the pace and structure. Since I haven't read the entire series I can definitely say Jacked Up reads sweetly as a perfect standalone story. I'd be happy to read these two characters in many more stories.

Annoying heroine. Spoiled all the fun :-(
She was Hyperactive in my opinion, a little loopy and she made my, and the poor hero, heads hurt.
She dragged us across the city in all hours of the day, going here going there and everywhere, talking stupid shit all the time, doing stupid shit just to annoy us, fought with the hero on every little thing, even in the intimate times between them she teased him to death.
SHUT UP already and take Xanax you lunatic!
There is a big difference between a strong sassy big mouth heroine and a heroine who make the hero's gut, acid burn from negative stress.

I'm not sure if this is a case of my tastes having changed or just not being in the right mood for this book but I just never really felt it. I loved this series but that was a long time and a lot of books ago and for whatever reason I just never got around to this one. Then while spending hours going over my TBR mountain I saw a heap of people talking about how alpha and dirty talking and hot this book was so I thought I would be in for a winner.

But honestly I just never felt like Jack gave a shit. And it felt like all of the effort came from Elle and by the time Jack was trying to prove he cared, I didn't. And then the grovel wasn't even nearly enough. But then I think maybe I just read it at the wrong time because I am clearly in the minority and I loved the other books so it's probably just my bad mood that ruined it for myself.

"She couldn’t deny Jack pushed all her buttons, getting her hot and bothered with just a look. The problem was, whenever she was around him she felt trapped between wanting to kiss him and wanting to beat the sh!t out of him.”

This is my first book by Elly Aycart, and it won’t be my last. I loved this book. It is an easy “one click.”

Let’s start with Jack. He is super Alpha male, super secretive, and oh so delicious. He has this job that keeps him in harm’s way, and seems to always be in a pissed mood. He makes it to the important dates in his family’s life, and is around when he is needed.

Elle is snarky, gorgeous, and always on the go. She works hard, and plays harder. Her other mission in life is to bother those that bother her. She loves to put a little chink in Jack’s very structured life.

So when Elle finds herself in a bit of trouble, Jack is around to help her out. But that means now he is her new shadow, wherever she goes he will go to. Neither one are sure they will not kill the other one, but the deal with it. Not to mention the attraction between the two.

This was such a fun book to read. I LOVED the bantering between Jack and Elle. I found myself laughing out loud several time while reading. Not to mention the super steamy seams will melt your pages. I said it before, but I will say it again, this is a “one click.”

I liked Jack and Elle when they featured in the other books in this series but quite honestly, it has taken the author that long to get to their story that my memory of them was a bit hazy when I started reading this but I'm sure I don't remember Elle calling Jack 'Borg' or him calling Elle 'Pet'. Those two nicknames really grated on me while reading.

Their story ended up disappointing me, it wasn't as good as some of the others in this series and I found myself skimming a lot. Jack doesn't communicate much and he certainly doesn't do relationships. As the story progressed, it felt unoriginal and predictable hence why I started to skim read as it wasn't holding my attention.

This is book # 4 in the Bowen Boys series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. The reader will get more understanding and enjoyment if this series is read in order. There are many spoilers in the book, if this story is read first.

Jack and Elle meet when her sister marries his closes friend. After that, they just annoy the hell out of each other because it is fun. In denial of all the sparks flying all around them, the onlookers are wondering who will get burned.

When she is in danger, Jack runs to help her. He berates himself for not being able to stay away, but he cannot stop himself. Elle is just as guilty. She relies on Jack without realizing that is what she is suddenly doing. All the while, things heat up between them, and the kisses take on a life of their own.

Such an amazing well though story! I cannot believe how often I laughed in a book I thought would be so serious. The characters are so good together and the heat is so HOT, it literally burns the pages.

A definite keeper!! *5 fantastic stars*
This is my first book by Elle Aycart and most definitely not my last. What an awesome, awesome book!
Although i have not read the first 3 books of this series, i felt like i did not miss anything. Borg and Pet were perfect for each other and the banter between them was outstanding. Between Jack with his grunts, smirks and dry wit and Elle, with her funny comebacks and sassy attitude- i thought they were a perfect couple, now on my list of top ten favourite couple. Her comebacks made me laugh out loud so many times my husband though i was nuts! Add in lots of action, some amount of angst and lots of humour, this book was a perfect read for me.

Oh my, Jack is my kind of Alpha hero and he was quite impressive! Unfortunately, Jack’s HEA had to be the most annoying heroine I’ve ever read. There’s nothing wrong with being a fun-loving party girl with a shit ton of sass, but sweet Lord she was so over the top. Elle was a “smart ass” and I was reminded of it so many times I wanted to scream. There’s smart ass and then there is TSTL. She was a heroine who was TSTL on too many occasions to count.

Bottom line, I really like the author’s writing style and her Hero’s are my cup of tea. Both were awesome enough to make this book a great read.

I have been looking forward to getting Jack and Ellie’s story from we met them.

It is Ellie’s life mission to annoy the hell out of Jack and she succeeds in doing so. I loved her character, she was spunky, opinionated, fun and loveable.

Jack was a hard a$$, he has always been the dark broody character in all the books and I didn’t expect that to change. I loved Jack in the end.

Elle has a way of dragging me into each story with her loveable characters and good storylines, I have loved this series and will be sad to see the end of it.

Not fan of this one. I didn't read the previous books in this series and you really need to. I felt like I was missing a lot. But I wasn't that crazy about Jack at all and Elle was just childish. I didn't feel like there was banter. It was mostly Elle antagonizing him when he was just trying to save her life and bending over backwards to make her happy. I was just not impressed with her at all. And it was just all about sex for them. I wasn't feeling anything deeper for way too long.

3.5 STARS!

Finally!! I'm so rooting for this couple, Elle and Jack. A little flashback, Elle's sister, Tate married to James Bowen and Jack is James's best friend. Unlike the Bowens who has safe job around the town, Jack has dangerous job and more into undercover. This story has more suspense the others. I'm so excited!

Elle Cooper is known for party girl but outside of it, she's a hard-working woman. Sometimes she helps her sister at Rosita's; a family restaurant. Unfortunately, Elle witnessed something she shouldn't. Someone want her dead and her life drastically changed. Jack know this girl will be a problem in the future. Distanced himself from her isn't a priority now since Elle got tangled with murder. Jack needs to keep her alive and guard his sanity.
And the asshole was immune to her. She got her way with everyone but him, who aggravated the living hell out of her by ignoring her. And the more he ignored her, the more she felt like pissing him off. A vicious, rather enjoyable circle.

Elle is an interesting character with cheerful personality. She's very different than others (Tate, Christy and Annie). She's wild, confident, and fun with sarcastic mouth. She's very easily likable with her vibrant attitude. IMO, she guard herself away from sadness with happy things. But this time, her life is in big trouble. She's quite strong-headed and egoist with her safety.

Borg is a joke name given by Elle because he's like a robot? Lol remember Terminator. Jack has intense and strong personality. Rarely cracked up. Then came Elle. This woman brought something different in his life. There's never dull moment with her. Jack is a hard man to love and be loved. He's all grunt like a caveman, rarely speak words except when he's horny.
He cut her off, kissing her ravenously. Then he fisted her bun and locked eyes with her. “Look at me. I know it’s a package. And I’m taking it. I tried to stay away from you. I tried to make this easier.” Now it was too late. He couldn’t help himself. He was going to give into it and the hell with the consequences. “You kept pushing and pushing. Taunting me. Now you got my full attention.”

Jack and Elle has intense relationship. She flirts with him in every possible and annoying way. To get his attention, of course. Their sexual tension is ready to blow anytime. Jack finally given up and let himself loose inside Elle. With promise their 'relationship' is only sex, they become closer. Jealousy is something they couldn't avoid. Like what I expected, their sex is way HOTTER. I need to fanned myself. Whew... Jack... has cock-piercing. Also dirty talks that aroused me. Damn!!

description
He held her challenging stare. “So that we’re clear: if I fuck you here I’m going to fill you with my cum.” Something he hadn’t done ever before but couldn’t wait to do now. Nuts.
She nodded. “Now.”

When the enemy comes closer, Elle become more impossible and unreasonable. It was like she didn't take this serious when Jack has to hauled her ass every time he ignore his warnings. I found that this story is quite interesting. Not only for romantic and sexy times, but there is a thrill. Maybe it seems too easy but well, this is not romantic suspense

A great read and entertaining. I wish they've another story/novella because I need to feel stronger connection after they decided to have relationship. Because honestly, I hardly found it in here beside they're too horny for each other. However, I loved their banter and taunting. I also liked how they're trying to open with each other. Their vulnerable moment.
“Butt plug. I want you wearing it while I’m fucking you.”
He didn’t ask, didn’t push, just waited, the question in his face.
She went for nonchalant. “I’m not sticking anything up my ass that has been in your other lovers’.”
“It’s brand-new. I bought it for you.”
“Really? When?” she asked, taken aback.
“The first time I saw you.”
“What made you think you’d get me in your bed, let alone agree to wear that? Wishful thinking?”
