Chance Reddick #1

Innocent Injustice

Rate this book
Chance was a good boy. He had always done his best to do what was right, and worked hard to help his grandparents, who were raising him and his sister after their parents died in a tragic accident. When an opportunity came to go to college, Chance began to think life might be on its way to getting better.

But then, his little sister Robin was killed in a senseless murder, and Chance's world started falling apart. His grandfather, shocked at the loss of Robin, suffered a heart attack that took him away, as well. It was just Chance and his grandmother, and little hope that the killers would ever be brought to justice.

Justice. Grandma had told Chance all about justice. Now, it was time to put those lessons to work.

Easy to read

Writing was straight forward. Chance is a stand up guy, with a taste for vengeance. His sister gets killed as an innocent bystander in a cartel hit. The opportunity for Chance to get justice is presented, and he does. This takes him down a complicated path, where he finds love and now has to figure out how to keep her and her children safe. It's somewhat predictable, but had enough action to keep me reading.

This is another good start of a series by this author. Chance, a hardworking student faces tragedy when at college, his sister is murdered and his grandfather dies, leaving him with only his grandmother. He seeks revenge on the people who killed his sister. He finds out is was a cartel hit against the young man she was with. He likes the feeling he has and finds himself working for a rival cartel. He goes to Nevada to kill a young woman with 2 sons and the tale begins. This is a fast paced book and I am looking forward to reading the next chapter in Chance's life.

David Archer is one of my favorite authors. He has written several books that I have read and I have enjoyed every one of them. This one had me puzzled for a while thinking the hero was going down the wrong path. But David Archer brought this character around and managed to make him believable. Although his character is not mr. Goody Two-Shoes he has a good heart and good intentions. I look forward to the next episode in Chance's life and hopefully it will be as interesting as this. I found a spelling error or two but nothing that would be glaringly offensive. I will be waiting to read the next episode of Chance Reddick's life.

You know how when you are stuck in traffic on the freeway and you see helicopters and flashing lights ahead of you? You know it's going to be a terrible accident You don't want to see the awful mess but you can't help yourself. I could not fathom what the author expected us to believe. It just kept getting less and less believable. Wish I had not forced myself to finish it to see just how bad it could be.

Note to author: There are no grizzly bears in Nevada.

I read the reviews and one reviewer said “I have read several David Archer books and he has never disappointed and he was right, it was spot on because I loved this book and kept turning the pages not wishing to put it down despite my eyes getting heavy and needing sleep! It has excitement, passion, tension and a believable storyline and Chance Reddick is a sure hit with hopefully more to follow
The book is the first of the Chance Reddick series and is really about a young man who has his sister taken away by being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Then he loses his grandfather and he gets the chance to take revenge on his sister’s murders but gets involved with the cartel and cartel boss Baldizon.
Chance gets his revenge but then gets involved and takes an offer to recapture stolen money and carry out a hit on those responsible who happens to be a woman Gabriella who also has two young boys. Things aren’t as they seem and Chance soon falls for Gabriella and the boys and finds he has been mislead and again has to carry out revenge of those who have wronged. A super story and read that flows naturally and easily and simply draws you into a great read.

I enjoyed this book as I have most of David Archer's books. The angel of Justice was a new story line and I am sure that it could be used today. We have so many murders in Memphis, TN...it just didn't hit the spot for me. But I will continue to read Archer's books...they are excellent. Lot of folks read these books and get ideas and a person running around to tip the scales of justice one way or the other is just too timely for the world we live in right now. I did like the couple in the book with the two boys and I hope this is made into a movie. It would help to see this in movie format and the right actors would be very very important.

This is a prequel so the reader knows everyone who is supposed to live does, and those who should die will.

When Chance Reddick's little sister is killed in a drug related shooting and his grandfather dies that same day from sorrow, he goes off on his own sort of revenge. Strange part is even though his sister was killed by cartel members,he aligns himself with a cartel to seek out his own justice.

Not much suspense, as noted above, it's a prequel. But does make for an entertaining read.

Of course we all love justice

I have read many many books by David Archer and I have never been disappointed. This is a little different. This protagonist is definitely flawed. Even though he is only about 20 yrs old, he was raised to be more mature than a typical kid today. I am looking forward to see how Chance grows and changes. He seems to be headed toward Batman justice or Josie Wales but I hope he will become a man of faith at some point in the future like Sam.

Ready for the next book!!

I am a fan of David Archer, I've read all of Sam Pritchard's and Noah Wolfe's adventures and have rated the majority of them 4 stars or higher. I enjoy the writing filled with details and the depth to each character keep me looking forward to the next book.
Chase is no different, I understand and like his character and this background story as to why he will continue to be an angel of justice was very good.

Reddick adventure begins with Innocent Injustice

It took a while for me to begin my quest to learn about Chance Reddick and to follow his adventures. As with David Archer 's other series', I found it easy and interesting to come to understand the characters. The writing, like with the Prichard books, flowed well and I didn't put the book down til I finished it.I
I can't wait for the next book.

This is the first of David Archer’s Chance Reddick series I’ve had the privilege to read, and I can assure you, he didn’t disappoint. Very good story beginning to ending and kept me engrossed trying to figure our what’s next. It appears to me that I’m going to have to get more of this series so I can follow along and keep up with the coming adventures. Reading is such a wonderful way to spend some time. My thanks to David Archer for the work of his mind.

Brilliant story. Once again I have burnt the midnight oil to finish a David Archer book.
This is the first part of a new series and you will not want to miss it.
It has excitement, passion, tension and has the adrenaline rush that only David’s thrillers can give you.
A not to be missed book for sure.

Good read

Although the story is predictable, it still is an exciting read. Great world building and characters. I am originally from Kentucky, grew up on a farm and am familiar with the area the author is describing. However, Kentucky State University is in Frankfort not Louisville. Still worth reading and will continue to read the series.

Not the Archer I've been enjoying

I've been an avid Archer fan but this book is like an outline of a potentially good story than never fleshes out. Too shallow too disconnected moves to different scenarios without building on the meat of the last one. Gave it up at 60% and wanted to long before that. Bummer Mr. Archer.

Chance Reddick & his sister Robin was raised on a farm by his grandparents. After he left for college his sister was killed while in the company of drug dealers. Avenging her death and enjoying the kill led him to work for the cartels. His first assignment became impossible to complete. Fast read, good characters. I rate this a 4.8.

“Chance was a good boy. He had always done his best to do what was right, and worked hard to help his grandparents, who were raising him and his sister after their parents died in a tragic accident.”

Entertaining enough. Suspended belief a bit. Ok for a feel good murder book. Yes that’s what this was.

Frustrating to read because of how bland and not well written it is. One dimensional characters, odd scene transitions, and a cringey main character who spouts the cheesiest lines about being the "hand of Justice" against "hombres". Serious eyerolls and his beginning character arc was hilarious and bad.

Avoid like the plague. No idea why it is rated so highly.

A good read

Angel of Injustice or vigilante?
Chance Reddick is college student on a basketball scholarship, until family tragedy forced him to seek lethal justice at his grandmother's urging.
This brings him into contact with the drug cartel, & an unusual proposition from the general of the local branch.
Interesting book, worth reading.

Excellent Thriller

I had some reservations about reading this novel...didn't like the idea of Chance being sent out to kill an innocent woman. But, I happened to read Book 2 after putting Book 1 aside and enjoyed Book 2 so much that I returned and completed it. Good decision on my part...looking forward to Book 3.
