Overall good. However, I was disappointed because this 2019 book referenced info from sources 10 to 15 years old. If those sources still serve as landmark studies, articles, and commentary, she should have indicated that for all references over 10 years. Instead, those instances gave me the impression that this book was "cut and pasted" from archived material and was rushed to publication without due diligence in the research.
This is indeed the "The Onky Business Writing Book You'll Ever Need".
The author, Laura Brown, writes in a concise, clear and right to the point; cutting all unnecessary and redundant words.
The book includes a straightforward seven-step method you can use as a checklist to improve your your writing. There are also tons of examples to explain and support the theories underlying the seven-step.
And what's really interesting is the fact that the book addresses real writing challenges raised by real people following a survey.
I've read a least a dozen of writing book. This one is the best.
this is actually very good. I'm not the intended audience, I'm thinking more like gen x and boomers, and anyone struggling to make a formal email to ur boss (or ur employees) or how to get your emails answered (by getting to the point quickly) or the attachments clicked(!!!!), etc. I think this is a good book to have/read!
edited to drop this: Also! I will add that this is under 200 pages! Which is rare for books like these. It's accessible! sharp! and to the point! you ain't gotta be out here writing 500 pages of bloat to get folks to understand how important it is to be concise! (these authors really be out here writing dissertations on this stuff and missing the whole reason folks are reading these things) thank you laura brown!!
This is a fantastic book if you’re looking to pump up your writing skills. The author has tips and practical tools to use for email, proposals, resumes, and any business story you want to communicate in writing.
This was for a business writing class so I skimmed through a few parts of it. I did find it generally helpful though and less bloated than many textbooks I've had to use for classes.
