“Joshua is one of the good guys. He genuinely cares about teaching people confidence and relationship skills. I’m so excited for him to have put everything he knows into this book.” ―Evan Carmichael, bestselling author of Your One Word
“Teens today have more demands on their time than many business executives. So, how does a teen live an effective life―one filled with good relationships and success in school and in their personal life? Joshua Rodriguez’s book, Embracing the Awkward, has answers to those question and many more. This is one of the best guides out there today.” ―Sean Covey, bestselling author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens
Joshua Rodriguez is a motivational speaker across multiple digital platforms including YouTube, Snapchat, and Instagram. He has built a mass following of middle school and high school teens looking for advice in different areas of their life: self-worth, relationships, academics, and family. His videos and content have been featured in prominent marketing publications and also been used in many different schools across the country. Josh has also been a guest speaker at many schools across the east coast, where he teaches the values of compassion, mindfulness, and confidence.
Josh was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and has worked in education technology, “ed-tech,” since college, communicating with teachers, principals, and students. Josh’s teaching approach is inspired by Fred Rogers, who taught children that feelings are mentionable and manageable, and Thich Nhat Hanh, who speaks about being in the here and now by cultivating peace in every step.
3.5⭐️ There were some great pieces of advice in this book for anyone, regardless of their age. I can’t quite put my finger on why I didn’t rate it higher. It just felt really long, I think. I think this is an, “it’s not you, it’s me” situation. 😆
This book is very helpful if you are looking for advice on relationships and finding motivation to live your best life. It was easy to understand and interesting to read, although it did not serve as a page turner for me. It may not be suitable for those who are not interested in making changes and trying new things. Overall, this is a very good self-help book.
Definitely check out this self-help book for young adults and the author's YouTube channel, The Josh Speaks. Very good stuff, guys. Watching and reading his stuff has helped me out a lot.
This book is a non-fiction, self-help book for teens. The book covers mindfulness, and how to address our feelings. The book also addresses taking care of oneself, pursuing what you want verses doing what others want you to do, and discovering who you are and how to become the person you want to be. The book also discusses setting healthy boundaries and how to ask for help. This book is a great resource. The book has helped me to see how I can be more mindful in my day as well as how I can view the world around me in another way. I am honestly considering using this book in my teaching. Although the book is geared towards teens, this book is a great resource for anyone of any age group. Content warnings: None
Listened to the audiobook version of this and some of the stuff it said made me think and reflect. Think it’s really good for changing your perspective on things.
