گی دو موپاسان نویسنده‌ی رمان یکشنبه‌های پاریسی از بزرگ‌ترین نویسندگان قرن نوزدهم فرانسه و از استادان داستان کوتاه تاریخ ادبیات جهان به شمار می‌رود.
یکشنبه‌های پاریسی زندگی کارمند اداره‌ای دولتی را با طنزی گزنده و موشکافانه روایت می‌کند.
هر هفته به بهانه‌ی ماجراجویی‌های او در محافل مختلف به یکی از تفریحات پاریسی‌ها پرداخته می‌شود و در این میان اتفاق‌هایی عجیب در موقعیت‌هایی خنده‌دار رقم می‌خورد.

خداوندا! انگار خودش بود! برای هماهنگ کردن ضربات پاروها با صدای تیزش یکی از ترانه‌های قایقرانان را می‌خواند و وقتی برابر پاتیسو رسید، دست نگه داشت. آن‌گاه با انگشت‌ها بوسه‌ای برایش فرستاد و فریاد زد: «ای خنگ خدا!»

About the author

Henri René Albert Guy de Maupassant was a popular 19th-century French writer. He is one of the fathers of the modern short story. A protege of Flaubert, Maupassant's short stories are characterized by their economy of style and their efficient effortless dénouement. He also wrote six short novels. A number of his stories often denote the futility of war and the innocent civilians who get crushed in it - many are set during the Franco-Prussian War of the 1870s.

Esta es la breve historia de Monsieur Patissot, un funcionario que asciende en la escala administrativa de manera poco ética y que por su sedentarismo, su médico le recomienda un poco de actividad física. Así que los domingos los dedica a hacer ejercicio y es lo que nos cuenta esta novela cortísima, ya que en apenas 100 páginas, nos encontramos con situaciones de lo más diversas, divertidas y excéntricas que un lector se pueda encontrar.
Cada capítulo lo dedica a un domingo, cada domingo a una actividad, así son pequeñas historias sin conexión entre sí salvo que las realiza el personaje principal.
Me ha encantado la novela por la crítica que hace el escritor a la burguesía, a las apariencias, una caricatura de la sociedad francesa de la época, mención especial merecen los dos últimos capítulos, con un crítica feroz a los filósofos en relación a la opinión que estos tienen de las mujeres, el papel de la mujer y la misoginia de la sociedad.
No le doy las cinco estrellas porque la novela es muy cortita, un poquito más hubiera estado perfecta.

موپاسان قشنگم که بهار تابستون بازمیگردم به آغوشش،
یه داستان کوتاه معمولی و طنز و بهاری حال خوب کن،
که تهش خیلی غیرمنتظره با یه بیانیه‌ی مفصل درمورد حقوق زنان و نقش زنان تموم شد!!
(منی که میخوام دو دقیقه کتابای فمنیسمی نخونم تا آرامش بگیرم)

خلاصه الان من واقعا ذهنم مشغوله و نمیدونم بالاخره خود موپاسان عقایدش زن ستیز بوده یا زن ستا. چون از هر دو به یک اندازه گفته شده و الان مغزم داره منفجر میشه.
اما کتاب رو با یک پاراگراف شاعرانه که این باشه تموم میکنه که فکر میکنم اصل فکر خودش باشه.
ترکیبیه از احترام و تعریف از شاعرانگی و زیبایی زن، و خیال و فکرِ اینکه نمیتونه و نباید به حکومت و سیاست و باقی کارهای "مردانه" دخول کنه (که خودم همیشه به شخصه با این موضوع موافقم-چون حوصله و فایده ای تو هدر دادنِ زندگی زنانه‌م در سیاست و کارهای مردانه‌ای که تا به امروز به گند کشیده شده نمیبینم- اما دلیل نمیشه که آدم از این تفکرِ قدیمیِ قرن نوزدهمی دفاع کنه چون دنیا بخوایم نخوایم عوض شده و هر دو جنس به یک اندازه توش دخیلن و اون دختری که به سیاست علاقه و استعداد داره چه گناهی کرده.)
بنابریان یک نفس عمیق میکشم و دستان موپاسان رو میبوسم و یه دستی هم به سرش میکشم میگم "آخی، هنوز خیلی تو تاریخ عقب تر از اونی که ببینی ۲۰۰ سال بعد زنها چه نقش بزرگی تو همه چیز دارن تا برگات بریزه اما حداقل ممنون از اینکه مثل شوپنهاور که اتفاقا تو این کتاب هم بهش اشاره کردی زنها رو گاوِ شیرده نمیدونی🤎"

Pero, si algo se rompe o se pervierte en la maquinaria social, mucho más complicada, por cierto, que la del reloj, el ciudadano Cornut y otros muchos que no son relojeros ni ejercen oficio alguno, se consideran idóneos para repararla. Creo, estimado señor, que a día de hoy no tenemos una clase dirigente formada por hombres capaces de gobernar, hombres instruidos por otros hombres que supieran ejercer el poder. Es necesaria una escuela de gobernantes, como hay una militar y otra de medicina."

Una divertida sátira de un dominguero parisino que hacia el final se vuelve algo dispersa. Da la sensación de haberse publicado por entregas y que a media publicación el aire de la época virase hacia una demanda de temas más "comprometidos".

کتاب جالب و متفاوتی بود.تا نیمه داستان با توجه به معرفی پشت کتاب پیش رفت. اما حدود ۳۰صفحه آخر بیشتر دربارهء تغییرات و عقاید فرانسهء قرن ۱۹ نوشته شده که برای من بسیار جالب بودند👌🏻

بعضي ها خنده دار بعضي تامل برانگيز مخصوصا دو روايت اخر

اقاي پاتيسو بهت زده به سمت بغل دستي اش برگشت:
كمي ديوانه نيست؟
پيرمرد جواب داد:نه اقا،ميليون ها نفر اين شكلي انذ؛تاثير آموزش وپرورش است

آموزش و پرورش؟
بله،حالا كه خواندن و نوشتن ياد گرفته اند،حماقت پنهانشان آزاد و رها شده.

A Wonderful read for several reasons.

It is the first time that most of the stories here have been translated into English.

The first story of several parts is one of the most recent to be translated.
And it is also an original telling,
being made up of several different "chapters" as each story
within THE Story is revealed, following closely and logically
on the heels of the next.
The storyteller has decided to explore the outskirts of Paris.
Before venturing on this plan he must buy a suitable wardrobe of clothes
to suit the scene.
On each walk he either meets and/or makes a New Friend.
One from his workplace invites him to visit.
The meal is not inviting. Soon they agree to venture out to drink.
His Host is soon drunk.
The wife accuses the author of having made her husband drunk,
and the writer flees.

Another, this time a new friend, invites him to meet two famous artists.
It is very successful...
one artist adopts him when he realises he has met a fan and a Kindred Spirit.
The Other is a writer, Zola,
and another bonding takes place.

All the stories hereafter take up familiar themes.
A few deal with the Franco-Prussian Wars.
A group of Frenchmen flee for their lives from an advancing enemy.

Another theme involves animals.
Another theme involves love affairs which succeed ...and failures!
Two conmen make their lives comfortable.

These are mostly typical but original takes on some familiar scenes.

Well worth translating...and READING of course !!!

از این نویسنده تا بحال کتابی نخوانده بودم. این اولین اثری بود که از او خواندم. همیشه توجهم به اسمش و تلفظش بود
برای داستان کوتاهی مربوط به ۱۴۰ سال پیش خوب بود بخصوص بحث هایی مه ذر مورد جنبش زنان و حق و حقوق آنان البته همراه با چاشنی طنز ایراد می شد.

یک نکته را هم بگویم ؛ به گمانم این اولین کتابی باشد که در گودریدز برای ۲۰۲۰ ثبت می کنم.
سعی می کنم برای هر کتاب حس و حال خودم را در مورد آن بیان کنم و ته صرفن ریویو نوشتن ....

در ادامه با کتاب های بیشتری این برنامه را ادامه خواهم داد.
بخصوص کتاب های دوست داشتنی صد صفحه ای
کتاب هایی که در یک نشست می توان آن ها را مطالعه کرد.

واقعا در نوع خودش یک شاهکار بود
گی‌دو موپاسان واقعا نویسنده بزرگی بود ولی افسوس زود فوت کرد.
بخش پایانی این کتاب واقعا جالب توجه بود و تیکه‌ای بود به فمنیست‌ها

تجربتي الأولى مع موباسان لطيفة جدا لانه ساخر بشكل سلس ومُسلي.. والأفكار اللي بيناقشها قد تبدو للوهلة الأولى خفيفة لكن مش دي الحقيقة.

أعتقد أن المترجم (سلمان حرفوش) أجرم بحق الكتاب ، علّه ترجمها حرفياً ؟ الرواية غير واضحه !!
وكثرة كثرة كثرررة استخدام الفاصلة (،) مشتت جداً ، وان كانت -فواصل- هي الناشر فلا يشفع كثرة استخدام الفواصل

This short book consists of a series of vignettes, each describing the adventures of Monsieur Patissot, a low-level bureaucrat on successive Sundays. In the first, M. Patissot has decided to get out of Paris for some fresh air, and he prepares for this endeavor as for a jungle expedition. And of course, mishaps and misunderstandings arise. Poorer and wiser, he decides to accept an invitation to dinner extended by one of his colleagues. This, after a tasteless meal served by a stingy harridan, leads to an invitation to go fishing. Monsieur Patissot tries out one thing after another, always hampered by his bourgeois mentality, his need to be admired and his general stupidity. Towards the end the vignettes become a bit more preachy, a bit more political. For instance, the very last one finds Monsieur Patissot at a feminist rally, being totally shocked by the idea that women might want equal rights. His neighbor states that all the women in the assembly are hysterics, and the two men stalk out together to have a beer. End of book.

If you like satire, then this book is for you. The fact that each vignette can be read separately should make this book attractive to people who like to read in small quantities. I happened to be lucky enough to get hold of a copy of an old book published in 19091, with lovely drawings by Geo. Dupuis - it's certainly worth trying to locate a copy with the drawings.

Flojea aquí Maupassant y con él Periférica. Pensé que me encontraría otro libro, pero no es el escritor de prosa vigorosa e inteligencia despierta que había conocido por Bel ami, y Bola de sebo y otros cuentos.
Este es un libro, sí, divertido, pero tampoco demasiado, construido a partir de capítulos relativamente cortos (no llegan a ser viñetas) y situaciones que no tienen mucha continuidad ni muchas conexiones entre ellas desde el punto de vista dramatúrgico. Algún capítulo está ahí sólo de relleno.
Lo salvan algunas situaciones hilarantes, pero hay poco más que eso. Una característica de este libro es su retrato de la fervorosa misoginia de la época, un fresco de primera magnitud para entender el momento en que fue escrito. Todos los personajes femeninos son negativos (la primera mujer que aparece le roba al protagonista, la segunda es una típica arpía) y la novela concluye con un curioso debate sobre el papel de la mujer en la sociedad.
Si Periférica quería con este libro mostrar qué se pensaba de la mujer a finales del siglo XIX y ponerlo a circular en un momento tan particular en este sentido de la sociedad moderna, lo ha conseguido. Pero en términos estrictamente literarios ha quedado a deber.

Two years later the surviving brother married the girl and twenty years later the elder daughter of the couple became engaged to the son of a magistrate, the very magistrate who had been in charge of the murder investigation. But at the wedding one of the participants begins to sing the mysterious song that the murderer had left trace of on the evidence that had been left behind, and the magistrate takes up the case again.

An elderly man writes to a young fellow of twenty-five who has asked him for advice on how to get out of the quite impossible situation he finds himself in. He’s been having a satisfactory and clandestine relationship with a married lady who is a friend of his mother. It was fine at the beginning, but the lady is every day becoming visibly older, heavier, uglier and more insistent on a definitive arrangement. The very experienced elder man explains in forceful terms how difficult it is to find a solution to the young man’s desperate dilemma.

The narrator remembers visiting the health resorts in the Auvergne mountains in the center of France and how an elderly visitor there made a study of the number of elderly patients in all the establishments in the area who had died there of something other than straightforward old age.

خانمها من خواستم حرف بزنم تا با نظریات شما مخالفت کنم درخواست حقوق شهروندي برابر با مردان مثل درخواست پایان دادن به قدرتتان است. همین ظاهر بیرونی زن نشان میدهد که او برای کارهای سخت جسمانی یا تلاشهای فکری طولانی ساخته نشده. نقش او چیزی متفاوت اما به همان اندازه زیباست. او به زندگی شاعرانگی میبخشد. زن با قدرت ملاحتش با پرتویی از چشمها و با افسون لبخندش بر مردی چیره میشود که بر جهان چیره شده مرد نیرویی دارد که شما نمیتوانید از او بگیرید ولی قدرت اغواگری شما نیرو را اسیر می‌کند از چه شکایت دارید؟ از وقتی که جهان وجود داشته شما ارباب و حاکم بوده اید. چیزی بدون شما انجام نمیشود آثار زیبا همگی به خاطر شما خلق

اما صدای سوت جمعیت حرفش را قطع کرد پایین آمد.

به گمان من، موپاسان در یک‌شنبه‌های پاریسی، مردی از طبقه کاملا متوسط را به بوته آزمایش می‌برد تا شکستش را بیازماید، او می‌داند که متریال اولیه‌اش - آقای پاتسیو، کارمند دولت، یک جمهوری‌خواه، مجرد و خسته- محکوم به شکست است، با این حال همه داستان‌ها را دانه به دانه می‌پرود، تا به خود و ما ثابت کند، وقتی که پاتسیو درک درستی از خودش به عنوان یک مرد متوسط نداشته باشد، در کمیک‌ترین حالت ممکن شکست می‌خورد، در سفر‌های یک روزه، در ماهیگیری، در عشق و تنانگی، در برخورد با سیاست و در ایراد مانیفست‌‌های اجتماعی. خیلی کمتر از چیزی که باید از فرانسه می‌دانم، ولی خیلی شمی می‌فهمم که نویسنده چه طور علیه کاراکترش اعلان جنگ می‌کند و چه طور آن را زجر می‌دهد. من با این کتاب خندیدم، به تلاش‌های مذبوحانه پاتسیو برای به دست اوردن همه چیزهایی که از ابتدا هم مشخص بود از دست داده، او یک متوسط تنها بود، انقدر متوسط که حتی مترجم فارسی‌اش، ترجیح داده کلمه بورژوازی را از عنوان کتاب زندگی‌اش بردارد، شاید کاملا همسو با موپاسان و برای آزمودن شکستی که از پیش اعلام شده است.

One of my favorite parts of this book:

"Do you have a watch? Well, break a piece of it and take it to Citizen Cornut to have it repaired. Citizen Cornut will tell you that he is not a watchmaker. But if something breaks or is perverted in the social machinery, which is much more complicated, by the way, than that of the watch, Citizen Cornut and many others who are not watchmakers or do not practice any trade, consider themselves suitable to repair it. I believe, my dear sir, that today we do not have a ruling class made up of men capable of governing, men instructed by other men who knew how to exercise power. A school of rulers is necessary, just as there is a military school and a medical school."

As primeiras estórias são particularmente interessantes. Elas trazem um sujeito meio ridículo que poderia ser um sujeito atual, desses que agem influenciados pelas mídias sociais. Me fez pensar o quanto do comportamento atual de comparação e influencia vazia que criticamos não é um comportamento humano no geral. E, que, claro, é potencializado pelas redes sociais, mas não formado por elas.
Do meio pro fim do livro, os contos são muito mais fracos ou porque perdem o tom principal de ironia, ou porque o gasta com uma crítica meio ruim, que envelheceu mal em alguns aspectos.

¿Qué decir? Pues que es la historia de un burgués parisino que por salud comienza a dar largos y anecdóticos paseos los domingos.

No sé que pasó pero no enganché con esta caricaturización de la burguesía. Por ahí retazos curiosos en donde se menciona a Zolá y otros llamativos en donde se aborda la política y la misoginia, pero nada que mejore mi sensación global.

No me doy por vencida con el autor. Tengo muchas ganas de leer Bel-Ami.

This book purports to be a collection of tales that have either never been translated into the English language, or stories that have not been available due to being out of print. The collection contains fifteen stories. Actually, there are only six new tales here. Two more are slight extensions of previously published material. The title story has been widely available for a century although it is described as never having been translated previously. The six new stories are actually vignettes and not fully developed. The two best are Advice Given In Vain presented as a letter from an older to a younger man in which the elder details his thoughts on how to get rid of a mistress whom age has deteriorated her charms and The Cough, which is deliriously funny once you understand the coded words and what they imply. The previously published stories are not among Maupassant's best, but are highly readable.
