For years, Rex Mirza has been controlling every aspect of his twin brother’s life. Using the fact that Tavi is a magicless witch — a mere human — in a family of powerful witches, he has justified every harsh treatment. All of it is only for Tavi’s own good, of course. How could a human possibly know what was best for him?
When Tavi gets the chance to turn the tables on his brother, will he take it? Or will he take the punishment Rex says is due for trying to run away?
*This is a dark taboo tale that contains several kinks that may offend or trigger some readers, including (but not limited to) age play, ABDL, and humiliation. Not every dynamic or element is 100% consensual.
R. Phoenix has an unhealthy fascination with contrasts: light and dark, heroes and villains, order and chaos. She believes that love can corrupt and power can redeem. Her muse is a sadomasochistic slave driver who thinks it's terribly amusing to give her the best ideas when she just got comfortable and warm in bed, and she passes on that torture to her readers. She also tries entirely too hard to be funny, and she mercilessly inflicts her terrible sense of humor upon anyone who speaks to her. She'd love it if you'd say hello!
I ... cannot take... another enema, another baby diaper change, another bottle feeding or another "Call me Daddy, twin brother".
I wish the worldbuilding, character development, or character reactions could have captivated me enough to get past the diapers and the enemas. But most of the times the events, the reactions and even the dialogue were just weird.
This is the 2nd book where I read about revenge between brothers, where one younger brother (even if younger by 2 mins) is abused for years by an older brother, and then he takes revenge and pays with the same coin, humiliating the other one. The first book was The Invisible Chains - Part 1: Bonds of Hate by Andrew Ashling where sexual slavery was the punishment, the second one was Want where treating the brother as a baby/toddler was the punishment.
Both were missing that quelque chose needed to spark my interest in liking the story.
The search for a good, dark incest book continues..... At least I know age play is not my kink o.O
I just couldn't get the thrill. I mean, I saw some pretty enthusiastic reviews and I am all for darkish books, but this one didn't work for me. We don't get much and what we get it wasn't enough for me to want to stick to the story. It's just not for me.
Well, this is an R. Phoenix book, insofar it's ... dark, so so dark. I'm just relaying some triggers, because I can't really go into detail there. Most of the book left a bad taste. twincest, forced ABDL - DD/lb, non-con, humiliation, watersports and enemas 🙈 There is no romance in this first installment and there is little that is appealing about this story to keep me reading. Well except maybe if I want to know where this sick "relationship" can go. In any case, I need to go bleach my eyes. 🥴
Oh holy gawd I cannot believe how much I reveled in the debauchery in this book let alone believe that I am giving it 5 freaking stars. But it was just so perfectly perverted, deliciously dirty, fantastically filthy and I am absolutely DYING for the next installment!
If you like extreme AB/DL (specifically DD/lb) with restricted freedom, dub-con, humiliation kink & other taboos (like ), plus a healthy does of incest and a touch of magic? OMG this book is for you.
(And I am adoring how it started out as Tavi "teaching" Rex what it was like to suffer the less than humane treatment & subjugation that Rex typically forced on Tavi...and then quickly veered off course into this dynamic.)
It’s a bit difficult to review the whole context of the story since this is the very first book of a trilogy. However, I’m in love with this wickedly deprived and super kinky morsel. 😍 You gotta give it up to R. Phoenix for never hesitating to venture l out to these adventurous grey areas because we need more of these taboo treats in our life! 😉
The story started quite simple. Rex is the older twin and a powerful witch while his younger twin Tevi is a mere human who’s a bit more than just a pet of him. When the tables got turned and Rex found himself being unable to use his magic as he used to, Tevi got his sweet sweet revenge by reducing Rex to a mere baby who’s dependent on him all the time. But this secret is too big and if the words got out, one of these two will surely perish. Despite their animosity and resentment to each other, deep down, these twins love each other deeply and truly. So they have to figure out a way to continue to play this charade if they want a happy life together.
First of all, if you are only reading books for this trilogy, congrats, all books are already out. 😁 But since I listened to the audio of this book, I’m going to wait for the remaining books to come out in audio. *whispers* I heard it’s soon. 😉 Kenneth Obi did such a great job narrating this story and his voices for some supporting characters are truly eerie and haunting. Also loved the voice distinction between those twins. And the age play and daddy play? Holy crap! 😱 This is one very seriously F up and kinky book and I loved every second of it. Baby play to the T! 😁 We got the full version! 🥰 And I’m hungry for more. 😋 I can’t wait to consume the second book in the series because I need more of this delicious wickedness in my life. 😉
Want, the first book in R. Phoenix’s The Need Trilogy, lays down the foundation of the story of the Mirza twins. One born with magic and the other only human. With all the complex layers in this relationship, as well as the aspects of their personalities which are beginning to emerge, there’s a fascinating dynamic developing between the brothers.
Being a human man, Tavi has spent his life effectively enslaved by his brother Rex. When the opportunity arises to trade places, Tavi takes advantage and makes it happen. While maintaining the charade turns out to be another huge hurdle, Tavi is willing to explore every avenue to keep it going.
As the story unfolds, we get a fair idea of the treatment Tavi has endured under his brother’s care. While there’s no doubt Tavi consented to some of the things Rex did to him, the continual degradation and lack of control have had a lasting effect on his psyche. After years of having no power, becoming the caregiver and reducing Rex to total dependence just fuels Tavi’s craving to be the one in charge. And he likes it!
Looking through Tavi’s eyes, it’s impossible not to revel in Rex getting a taste of his own medicine. (I have to admit, watching Rex come out of his initial stupor and wrap his head around what’s happening to him is particularly delectable.)
R. Phoenix doesn’t pull any punches when exploring what each twin is going through. Exchanging roles impacts the foundation of every aspect of their relationship, and raises a host of emotions. They also have to come to grips with their sexual desires and all the sensations they’re experiencing.
Want is the perfect story to enjoy as an audiobook. There are so many nuances of this intriguing plot which are enhanced by Kenneth Obi’s wonderful narration. He infuses these unique characters with distinct personalities and brings them to life. Mr. Obi makes the most of the emotions in each twin’s voice as they process each development and discover aspects of their personalities they’d never have imagined. This is the kind of story which really lets Obi show his skill.
I’m looking forward to the upcoming release of the audiobook edition of Take, the next volume in this trilogy. I can only guess at the long term repercussions of the twins changing places, not to mention how their dark, taboo relationship progresses.
An audiobook of Want was provided to Kimmers’ Erotic Book Banter, by Kenneth Obi, at no cost and with no expectations in return. We offer our fair and honest opinion on behalf of our readers.
Oh boy....I love R Phoenix's paranormal world.....Tavi and Rex are twin brothers and it seems that Rex has the upper hand over Tavi......When Tavi turns the tables on his twin it's so damned hot.....Being Rex's Daddy and treating like his little boy.......This was done really well and I can't wait for the second book......This is going to be an amazing series x
This story pressed so many of my buttons!!! 👏👏 It even discovered new ones.
How can I describe this? Kinkalicious? Tabbolicious? Twinalicious?
In a world where humans are slaves and supernaturals rule, the non-magical twin of a witch takes his revenge. He switches places with him and enslaves him as he himself was held captive.
Hoping to teach brother dear a lesson, he opts for age-play. That’s right:
Diapers Bottles Onesies Cribs Baths Playtime Nap time
CALL ME DADDY, REXY....
The problem is that both Rex and Tavi seem to like their new roles too much. They seem to like each other too much. I seem to like them like that too much!! 😈😈
Non-con, dub-con, ‘cest, humiliation, forced drug use, pipe cleanings, etc.
Should you venture into this special relationship? Depends on how much you like to play with boundaries 😜.
As for me, I’m starting the 3rd book: This taboo sh*t is total kink crack!!
R. Phoenix has created a world in which ageplay is not only accepted, it's commonplace. Witches and supernaturals such as vampires and werewolves rule the world with humans relegated to the lowest caste possible: slavery. Rex is set up as the "loving" older twin who cares for his human twin by keeping him in his home as his slave---and he is considered something of a martyr for being willing to accept the responsibility of his identical twin brother Tavi who only wants to be treated as an equal.
Society- as Phoenix has crafted it- has no place for Octavian "Tavi" Mirza other than as his older brother's pet since Tavi never manifested magic while Rex became a proper witch to bring pride to their family name. All Tavi brings is shame as far as anyone else is concerned. His older sister Nyla is the epitome of a proper witch in all ways except her unnatural interest in her human brother. She loves Tavi, checks on his well-being, and seems to disapprove of Rex's mistreatment of him yet she won't betray her family honor -or her own place in society- by demanding Tavi be treated "better" as he doesn't "deserve" better given his mere human status.
Everything regarding the life Rex and Tavi share feels claustrophobic while reading through their version of normalcy in the amazing world-building done by R. Phoenix. I found myself feeling sad for both of these men in different ways. Rex is a spoiled brat-prince of a witchling who is the youngest of the Mirza line. He knows only a sense of entitlement, being indulged, and a feeling of responsibility mixed with something darker where his twin brother is concerned. Tavi feels trapped, suffocated, and only has memories of growing up free until after his sixteenth birthday when he was proven to be nothing more than human as his magic never manifested.
They share a love for each other as both twins and brothers. Neither of them wants to hurt the other. They both seem to want only the best for themselves and their counterpart. It's only a lack of understanding in the situation from both sides which keeps them from seeing how they are damaging each other.
Ageplay takes a unique approach to make it palatable for me. I love everything about "Want" by R. Phoenix and the way the ABDL community is represented with respect and understanding brings me a sense of true joy.
I cannot wait to read more of Rex and Tavi so I can find out where they go from this point forward. They're both over the point of no return by the end of "Want." I only hope they keep going and going in the next part of the series!
Unlike what obtains for all the reviews posted so far, this will be no glowing testimony to the power of Mrs Phoenix's writing or the efficiency of her weaving a lurid tale of subjugation and degradation between identical twins. The former element implies qualities of penmanship which are nowhere in evidence between those covers; if anything, this book is written in bare, repetitive, dessicated prose devoid of epithets and even the most modest of literary ornaments, and pushes dreariness to the extent that descriptions are systematically shunned (the places, characters and actions all go down under the dreaded formula "no showing and all telling"). To take a most obvious case-in-point, it is frankly ridiculous that after 200+ pages of twincest we still are at sea as to what Rex and Tavi look like. The lazy storytelling extends to wholesale avoidance of universe building; the reader receives the barest amount of data as to this dystopian universe, cortesy of a one-page self-styled "Introduction", and this is all (what a silly idea to write this dry as bones summary instead of throwing together a dynamic introduction!). Between the twin charges of incompetence and sloth which must be leveled at Mrs Phoenix, the second one is most conspicuous throughout this poor excuse for a book; such is her impatience with her tale that she suppresses both the world builing and Rex's dealings with Tavi, the latter in blatant blindness at the anticlimactic effect of this decision on her tale. If indeed Rex is not allowed to show us how, qua the wizardly brother, he mistreated Tavi for dint of being powerless, the impact of the dramatic reversal by which they swap places not thirty pages into the story is considerably lessened, if not utterly destroyed, the book thereby amounting to little more than a tedious catalogue of sexual perversions (I choose my words purposely; there is not an atom of recreative kink withing this book) explored for their own sake. As this cheap as dirt attempt at a sexual Bildung of Rex by his formerly powerless twin was not even done with creativity, and the entire cast is a gallery of ectoplasms whose fate leaves one rather uninvested given how blandly they are written, I have no choice but to brand What with the PWP stigma. Zero star.
I've read a lot of books with a lot of everything in them. Want is the first I've read where ABDL was involved. ABDL stands for Adult Baby Diaper Lover for those who are not familiar with it. Now, I pride myself on my diversity so when this was presented I went into it with an open mind not knowing what to expect. So here's the low down on part one of R. Phoenix's trilogy.
It's not, what I'd assume, would be a typical BDSM ABDL relationship. First off Rex and Tavi are brothers (Twins) so there's a lingering incestual theme. Tavi is a regular human and Rex is a warlock/witch. They live in a complex time where humans are low on the totem pole and Rex is in charge of his younger-ish brother. And through the years Rex has taken advantage of the control and Tavi found an opportunity to pay his brother back.
That's as much as I'll say about the story because while you see the non-con element, it's building toward something I'm not sure where it will go. It doesn't end with any finality as it is 1 of 3 books in this trilogy. I will say that it was fascinating to learn about ABDL and I am open minded enough to know that while it isn't for me it is something that others enjoy. Rex finds this out, and I am really excited to see how this turns out for him.
R. Phoenix always takes us on a dark path with her writing. She writes the things many wonder and she opens minds to the possibility of all things. Don't dismiss this book because you see ABDL, humiliation, and other not so easily read topics. Give it a chance, you may find you are pulled into this world and Tavi and Rex's story as I was.
Um. Wow. This stares taboo kink right in the eyeball and doesn't blink! AND it's done in a way that our reader voyeurism to the taboo (twincest) kinky (abdl) shenanigans is tantalizing and edgy without being as intuitively offensive as may be anticipated.
I am totally hooked and can't wait for the next book.
Warning, this ends on a cliffhanger and I was so engrossed it ended very suddenly for me.
Насильственный age play между близнецами в фэнтезийном антураже. Причем age play заключается не в привычных обращениях daddy/boy, а в пустышках, памперсах и клизмах. Это было настолько абсурдно, что я даже дочитала.
Ok… So, I personally found this book fascinating. But it definitely won’t be for all people. Or even the majority of people, it will push some to the edge or further from their comfort zones. But I do think that even if your not sure about this one, you should still give this book a chance. It might just open your eyes a little and you might, maybe just find you like it. It’s a deliciously dark, sinfully dirty, hot taboo and kink infused story. There are just so many dimensions to what we get described and outlined to us in this book. With the dystopian theme of a world where witches, vampires and werewolf’s rule over the humans. We get Twins that are so very similar in most ways but are still completely different in their thoughts feelings and actions. And we get some taboo/kinky ABDL and captive type scenes between the two men that are really well written as well.
Tavi has been a captive human slave to his witch brother Rex for years since he learned that he was not given the gift of magic. When Tavi is able to overthrow Rex and make him the prisoner instead the book takes a turn for the interesting. We get some ABDL themed scenes and some slight twincest which I am assuming we will see a lot more of in the next few books. But Tavi is determined to make Rex his, no matter how hard it is to keep from feeling guilty about his feelings and from keeping the truth of what he is doing hidden from the outside world..
I love how the author gives us just the perfect amount of information, not giving away the whole story and too many details while at the same time leading us into the next book (since this will be a Trilogy = 3 books). This was a fantastic start to this trilogy and I really look forward to seeing where this leads us in the next book.
Audio – I really liked the narration for this one. Kenneth always seems to know how to give us the perfect tones for each of the characters (even twins) & their personalities, blending them well with whatever scenes and events that are happening in the storyline at the time. Flawless performance for this book, well done..
What a beautifully fucked up world this is! I was more than a little nervous about reading this, but wow! This is pretty twisted, but hot af! So, I'll be reading ALL of this author's world asap, thank you very much.
Filthy. Kinky. Fucking mind consuming I couldn't get enough.
Age-play isn't really my thing but this author twists me up inside and turn me into goo with whatever kinky shit they come up with. This series wasn't just daddy/little, but a twincest with dubcon/uncon scenes with humiliation and drugging, that was just...too damn hot.
Listen, this book was hardcore man, if you're not into it you're not into it. But if you are.....oufff.
This review is about the whole series, no spoilers ish.
I loved this. Like seriously couldn't get enough. Tavi was such a trip. On one had u feel bad for him and want him to do filthy things to Rex and get his revenge, on the other his guilt and shame sometimes is all consuming. Between you and me I didn't want Tavi to feel any remorse or guilt, but it was an important aspect of his precious-flower character. It was also nice to see a daddy who isn't buffed up or with noticable size difference than their little.
Also the plot got realll interesting by book 2 and addicting by book 3. I didn't expect that in a smut book, but I couldn't wait to know what happens next.
Nayla and Desi are my favorite characters and they're fucking badass. I loved how Nayla is basically your reluctant protagonist, it seems she's the only one in this world who got a sense of what's right and what's wrong. Desi is just Desi man, probably would've hated her if she wasn't on Tavi's side and protecting him at all costs.
I adore the interconnected Fate Of The Fallen world this trilogy was part of, for good reason. It’s a series released before its time and current trends. Highly recommend you read the world built around the other series. While not required, it enhances this trilogy.
Fate Of The Fallen World—“We captured your imaginations with beautiful nightmares. Enraptured, you begged for more.”
For anyone unfamiliar, this is the new reality, supes are real, humanity fell. In a non traditional PNR sense, it’s a very contemporary setting.
Tavi and Rex’s story was twisted—most tales within this world are.
“Humans were prey, fair game, and Tavi was just another human. How could he think that he could rise to be anything more?”
Twins in a family of highly ranked witches, the Mirza family are feared. Nyla’s younger brothers, Tavi’s status was magic-less, slave-bound to his brother, took an interesting turn.
“It’s like reaching for a sense and not having it be there. It’s like being blind and mute all at once.”
Nyla was already powerful, more so than her siblings or her family knew.
Loved seeing Desi making a cameo, always. While this is a standalone trilogy, I’d encourage anyone with an open mind to delve into this kinky PNR world. It’s always entertaining.
CW for MM, PNR, ABDL and twin tab0o. 3.75 ⭐️ Short read.
This book contains dark erotica and taboo scenes, age play, ABDL and other kinks, so it may be not your cup of tea. Don”t like it, don”t read it, simple as that! OK, another amazing literary production from one of my favorite MM books author. Like always, R. Phoenix never ceases to amaze me. The fine psychological analysis of the characters” actions and motivations, the numerous twists and turns of the plot and the large spectrum of emotions I experience while reading are just some of the reasons why I became addicted to her books. ”Want”, set in the Status Quo universe, is about two twin brothers, Rex and Octavian Mirza, from a prominent witch family, who, more or less willingly, reverse their place. While Tavi indulges in simple pleasures which were forbidden for him, Rex has to endure the treatment he subjected his magic-less brother to. As time passes by, each of the two learn valuable lessons about survival and about how it feels to have complete power over someone else. Also, some traits of character are transferred from one twin to another. While Tavi grows increasingly confident, Rex starts to feel more and more vulnerable. Will Rex end up accepting his new situation? Will Tavi become controlling, authoritative and confident, just like his twin? Will he be able to fool those around him ? Since this is the first book in a trilogy, the devoted readers should wait the release of Book 2 to find the answers to at least some of these questions.
Wow, it starts with a bang!! Rex and Tavi are identical twins, except Rex has magic, Tavi does not. This puts Tavi at a distinct disadvantage as the magicless ones are nothing more than slaves. Suddenly Tavi takes advantage of a situation and there is a twist in roles.
Tavi continues to weaves a tangled web of deception. Both brothers are learning to adjust to their new lives. Their dynamic has shifted and they are doing their best in their circumstances. I do fear there could be disastrous consequences of Tavi for creating this new reality. Rex struggles with his new role, afraid if becoming comfortable in something he believes is not suited for.
I genuinely enjoyed this story. It was really well written & believable in a crazy kind of way. I connected with both of these characters. I'm not really sure whose side I'm on... I certainly look forward to the continuing story of Rex & Tavi in future books.
How is it that R.A. Phoenix is able to make something that should be so abhorrent somehow be fascinating every time?! Everything in the FotF world is so messed up that cruelty is often the kindest thing a human can be offered, or offer in return.
I loved how Tavi was able to subdue his twin so readily due to Rex underestimating him simply for being human. I loved how Tavi found revenge to be, ultimately, unsatisfying, but the age play has become important to both brothers. I liked that Rex is finally starting to understand how it feels to be completely helpless and dependent on his brother.
Ok so the kink went a little bit too far for me, but I was warned and chose to ignore it. Other than that I liked the storyline and the dynamic between Rex and Tavi (for the most part), it was really compelling I just wish I knew more about the background and history
I don’t like Age Play, not before reading this book and not after, BUT I did loved the book. There was so much more of it than just the age play.
One of the things I liked the most about it was Tavi and his motives. The hesitance on him about what was going on, how to react and what to do. The internal monologue was fantastic, trying to justify but also so afraid of consequences. He was an amazing character. I loved him. I liked Rex too, but not as much as I liked Tavi. He was so sure that he was doing a good thing. I love trying to understand why he did the things he did.
The plot was really interesting, a great turn on age play that allow me to enjoy the book even though it contain elements that most of the times would keep me away from even trying to read it. I loved the whole concept of it, the reasons, the emotion that was behind the actions and the expected results of it. I was smiling so many times and it wasn’t because of some humorous tone that really wasn’t there, I was smiling because I was impressed by how much I was enjoying something so out of my comfort zone.
Even though the book is part of a dystopian paranormal world, it feel more contemporary with strong paranormal elements that are really important in the plot. It works fine as a stand-alone. I can’t wait to read the next instalments.
For it to include the topics it did, it was very tastefully done...and I just...I almost don’t even have words.
This was a whole nother level of sinful. Everything that happens is taboo. Dirty. Debauched! The fact that there are MORE books coming? Can my poor, (not) innocent eyes take it?....I guess we’ll have to see.
This story is as twisted as they come, and I loved every second. I couldn’t wait to see what one character was going to do next to the other, and the ending had me holding my breath. God, their family sucks. But one character’s slipping in and out of the role, between accepting it and not, was just so much fun. Could you imagine? And he’s getting exactly what he deserves.
Wow. I’ve read tentacle porn less dirty than this. WOW. Loved it.
What happens when you're the brother without magic?
Beautifully written. The characters leap of the page. I couldn't decide whether I wanted to slap the MCs, feel sorry for them, hug them or, well, ya know. I can't wait for the next installment.
First, I've got to say some elements in this book are very out of my comfort zone, mostly the humiliation part, since the rest I'm usually fine with. It's definitely darker than my usual kind of read, too, however, I think it helped that I had the chance to listen to Puppy, the first book in this universe first, so I kind of knew what to expect. You don't need to read Puppy first, but you need to know that in this 'verse, humans are second-rate citizens, at best, and vampires, witches, and supernatural beings are above them.
Frankly speaking, Ms. Phoenix had me at twins, which is one of my favorite kinks ever and the reason I started reading MM, and I really enjoyed the dynamics between Tavi and Rex. Yes, it wasn't exactly consensual, but after years of enduring Rex's treatment of him, it wasn't that difficult to imagine that given the chance Tavi would sort of take revenge against Rex. I don't think either of them anticipated how everything would play out, though.
The ending is a bit open for my taste, but R. Phoenix left it in a good place, now I'll be eagerly waiting for Take to see how the relationship between Tavi and Rex will keep evolving, especially now that Rex knows there's little he can do to get out of it.
Overall, while I had little clue of what I was getting into, I was pleasantly surprised with this book. The writing was really good, and while the story has some non/dub-con, it was still very enjoyable and intriguing. Very recommendable!

WOW! I love age play, MM and dark taboo reads. This one fitted the bill perfectly! In this we meet Rex & Tavi. Even though they're twins, Res being older by just minutes, Rex has ALWAYS been the more dominant of the two, much to Tavi's annoyance. That's not the only thing that annoys Tavi though, he's also annoyed that he's human unlike his twin who, like their sister, Nyla, is a witch. Due to this he's treated unfairly by his family. Yet, wen an opportunity arises, Tavi takes it and what follows is a fantastically written story that shows the lengths people will go to when they WANT something badly enough. Now, I'm not saying the way Tavi goes about doing what he does is right or without fault but I can completely understand why he does what he does. It was great to see him treat Rex the way he'd been treated snd it was also great to get Rex's pov/opinion, too. I absolutely LOVED it and can't wait for the next instalment!!
