I have been a writer from the time I was old enough to recognise that reading was a doorway into my imagination. Poetry was my first foray into the art of the written word. Books were my best friends, my escape, my haven. I am essentially a recluse but this part of my personality is impossible to practise given I have two teenage daughters, who are actually my friends, my tea-makers, my confidantes...

My heart is currently broken in two. One half resides in South Africa where my old roots still remain, and my heart still longs for the endless beaches and the smell of moist soil after a summer downpour. My love for Ma Afrika will never fade. The other half of me has been transplanted to the Land of the Long White Cloud. The land of the Taniwha, beautiful Maraes, and volcanoes. The land of green, pure beauty that truly inspires. And because I am so torn between these two lands - I shall forever remain crosseyed.

I love talking to my readers so email me if you have any questions or even if you just want to chat...

IF YOU HAVENT READ BOOK ONE IN THIS SERIES Skin Deep STOP HERE. THESE BOOKS ARE MEANT TO BE READ IN ORDER. If you don't, much of what takes place will have no meaning, and the potency of the story will be lost.

With her sister missing and her mother and Anjelo stuck in the Wraith World, Kai must find a way to save them all. But the Wraith poison has brought her to her knees and only Logan's fire can help ease her pain.

Uncertain who to rescue first, Kai's decision is made for her when she discovers her sister Greer is stuck in the Greylands and slowly going insane. Desperate to save her, Kai will go to incredible lengths to obtain a portal key to the land of the dead - and maybe, she’ll go one step too far.

From deathtalkers to demons, trackers to ghosts, Kai must fight against betrayal and evade the clutches of danger to set her sister free. Can she save Greer from a horrific death - and will she ever be able to forgive herself if she can’t?

Picking up where book one left off Kailin is torn between who to rescue first, her Mom and Anjelo, taken prisoner while in Wrythiin battling the Wraith Overlord and his minions, or her sister Greer, who is lost. When Greer jumped into the Wraith's portal he moved it so she went somewhere other than home. Given Kai and Greer's tumultuous relationship it's not much of a surprise that Kai wants to rescue her Mom and Anjelo first. But the help of some friends she learns where Greer is, and it's bad news. Greer somehow landed in the Greylands, a place no living being inhabits - it's the plane where beings go when they die, but only until they are ready to move on the the next place, kind of like Purgatory, except with Demons, ghosts, and other things.

The only reason she hadn't already turned right around and begun a rescue attempt was because of the poison in her system. Although the shards of the Wraith's obsidian blade had been removed from her arm, the poison was still coursing through her system. Logan was learning to channeling his fire into a method of burning the poison out without harming Kai, but he was still perfecting it and so she was stuck needing headings every few days or less, depending upon how physically active she'd been.

The rest of the book is covers Kai's preparations to head into the Greylands, should she be able to obtain a portal key, her reconciliation with her father and brother (based upon her mother's startling revelations), and her initial training session with Lily, who has become her new sidekick. Then there is her trip to the Greylands, and everything she learns while she's there. Upon her return Kai undergoes a final healing, arranged through the agencies of Gracie's network of friends and preformed by an Ancient - which is something pretty unheard of considering most people were under the impression that the Ancients were long gone and the stuff of legends only.

Throughout all of this Kai learns more and more about herself, her family, and the different factions and powers in her world. She does a fair amount of maturing under some very stressful situations, and learns from her mistakes, which is always nice to see in a character's development. Her romance with Logan is still there, but given the tine crunch and the poison problem, it took a backseat in this book. It was very much clearly alive and kicking, just not a major topic of coverage this time around. With the exception of Kai's learning to appreciate those she's let into her life that she trusts, and she is tremendously grateful that she took a chance on Logan. But she also gained Lily, and a much stronger bond with Tara's mother Gracie. Plus, her Grams has slowly become more and more forthcoming, sharing the secret of her life's work, and who else is involved in it. Many revelations unfold within this story, all laying groundwork for the story(s) to follow.

The book ended on a bittersweet note, but ended with closure to one part of Kai's life, while opening the door for a whole new realm of possibilities - after she rescues her Mom and Anjelo of course. I am certainly looking forward to reading the next book in this series to find out what direction Kai decides to go, in addition to what will hopefully be a totally successful rescue of her Mom and best friend.

Book #2 in the DarkWorld series picks up from where Book #1 finished and although Kailin is injured and recuperating from the vicious injuries she received in Skin Deep; it’s not long before she is again thrown into the fray.

With a little help from her old friends and some new, it is Kai’s job once more to save those she loves from danger. Finding herself in an unknown plain she has to trust her new sidekick and a nervous ghost to have her back, and help her return before she is completely lost to the Wraith poisoning.

Now although I thought Lost Soul was a little slow to start compared to Skin Deep, it did pick up quickly, and once the full on action started, it really was an exciting read.

With lots of new characters to weigh up, and hoping for the reappearance of some who were missing, Lost Soul was another all consuming read. I was yet again sucked up into a world of magical beings, alternative plains of existence, and an ever-changing enemy who would love nothing more than to see Kai die.

A few unforeseen plot twists and a sexy kiss or two, mixed with some kick ass action and witty banter make for another awesome trip into the DarkWorld. I can’t wait to see what is in store for this crazy motley crew of paranormals in the next book. 5 stars.

We pretty much head straight back in where we left of in last book:
Kai has escaped the Wraith world but had to leave her mother and friend behind and her sister Greer is missing after jumping through an altered portal.
Kai is the only one who can find and save the ones she cares about... (yes, that sometimes includes her sister) alas this is easier said then done as she has been poisoned by the wraith blade and is deteriorating fast.

After using a tracker (go Mel!) to locate Greer, they find out she is currently in the Graylands: where the dead pass through on their way to the light, demons roam and no living person is allowed. Knowing Greer is slowly going insane, Kai makes the difficult decision to go save her first, leaving her mother and Anjelo in Wrythiin for the time being.

With the wraith poison burning through her body, will Kai be able to get into the Graylands and save her sister in time?

My take on the book:

It's nice knowing some heroines can be brought low, that they're not immortal or impervious to whatever gets in their way. Kai is badly hurt, so much that without Logan she can barely stand, let alone go save her sister. The author really manages to give you a glimpse of the desperation and devastating pain (and annoyance) Kai feels about her situation. As someone used to standing tall and being there for others, it's a whole different feeling lying helplessly in bed.

Apart from Saleem no other important characters are brought into the story/world.
Character development was decent, we got some more insight in Kai, what Logan is willing to do for her to get better (and how he puts himself second) and much to my surprise... Lilly is forming to be a great sidekick!
While this book heavily leaned on the poison angle and how Kai is feeling, I do hope for some more insights into the rest of the cast in the next book.

The pacing was good, Kai got into trouble just when you were starting to lack some progress, so that was well done.
Well written and without any errors (or I didn't notice them at least).
For those who find it important: there is no sex in this book (well... hinted at, not described).

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and I loved seeing the DarkWorld series flowing over into one another. I look forward to more fleshed out cast and many many more adventures!

What a highly addictive book!!!! I really love this author's work and the more I read of her work the more I love it!!!

The storyline to this book has so many surprises in it, you are kept on the edge of your seat the whole time, never knowing what is going to happen next and I think that it is this aspect of the book that made me enjoy this even more! I love a book that keeps me hooked and this book most certainly did that! I am super excited to see what is going to happen next, in the next book and where this tale is going to go in it's next instalment.

I love reading about Kailin and the situations that she manages to find herself in, she is such a great character to read about, I love how independent she is even though it gets her into trouble, I love her passion and her outlook in life. She will do anything for her family and her friends even people who have made her life hard. She will always do what she feels is best. I loved that we meet a few new characters that I would love to know more about, like Saleem and the Ancient. I also loved reading more about Logan and the sort of person he is, you really get to know him better in this book. He is extremely loyal and passionate.

I can't recommend this book highly enough, not to mention this authors other books. Readers will be blown away by the outstanding talent that this writer has, it blows me away every single time!!!

Poison surging through Kai will she survive

Kai still there to fight for her family and Getting on the right road on who to save first was the first task Heer her sister or her mother and Angelo, Greer was stuck in grey lands going mad by the day in a world she didn’t belong but Kai didn’t know how to get to her until a meeting with the queen Fae she made a blood promise just to get the key but what had she gotten into by making that promise I’m sure that’s another book, with lots of help from friends she got all her weapons together Logan insisted Seleem a dinjin go with her getting to the water the disc/key at the ready she said her farewell and jumped into the light. The grey lands where the exact replicas of her own town but left was right and right was left lol. The poison was pumping through Kai but she ignored it she had a job to do I won’t spoil it for the reader but she finally got Greer out. There was still something strange about her but Gramps said she would work with her to try to help her. But that isn’t the end of the story, word comes Brand who had killed so many walkers and drugged up so many people had escaped jail and Logan said he would be hunting for her. You must read for yourself the story is exciting lots of twists unexpected and sad I recommend this as part of the series enjoy as I did

The SkinWalker series keeps on going from strength to strength as it's wonderful lead Kai Odel faces ever growing problems, nine of which have simple answers. Hurting thanks to Wraith poison she'll need to chose who to save, her mom and Anjelo stuck in the Wraith World or her sister Greer stuck in the Greylands. Of course the fact that before should be impossible to do makes this even more fun. Kai and her wonderfully eclectic group of friends, a Fae, a Djinn, a Fire Mage and a lynx Walker, do their best - and that's all anyone can be asked to do. The fact that there are no easy solutions, and that things don't always simply work out, and the consequences of that, is one of the things that makes this book (and series) so good. Yes, there is thrilling adventure and wonderful characters (I love Logan, Tara, Lily, Gracie and Saleem) but it's the realistic emotions that grabs the most. This book has raised the bar in an already wonderful series. Read the others first, at least book 1 as it's really needed (though the side novellas are great too), but trust that you'll truly enjoy this one.

Highly recommended.

I received a copy of this book at no cost from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

In this second installment in Ayer's "Skinwalker" series, we learn a lot more about Kai, Logan and the Dark World universe where both this and her "Soul Tracker" series are set.

This time, Kai is preparing to rescue some people from the demonic dimensions where they've been trapped, but she's still severely weakened by the poison she was infected with in the previous book.

There's a lot of character development in this book, and it's fun to see Kai growing in her abilities and the understanding of the role she's destined to play. Her relationship with Logan is sweet, and I liked being able to see her interacting more with her grandmother. We also get a visit from Saleem, one of the main characters of the "Soul Tracker" series. You don't need to know anything about that series, however, as none of what Saleem does here is tied to what he does in those books.

I enjoyed this installment a great deal and it does a good job of ratcheting the tension up for the next book in the series.

Lost Soul : A SkinWalker Novel #2 (DarkWorld : SkinWalker)

This book is amazing, I couldn't put it down, I am so happy that I did continue to read the 1st book past the first few chapters, this book was full of unforeseen twists, an amazing plot and some great ass kicking!!! I love the way her friends come through for her and they way Lily changed and has become a real friend to Kai instead of always fighting her or against her!! Going to the Greylands was an adventure that will keep you on your toes!!!
So many great twists coming your way that you need to read in order to find out!!

I can't wait to to read the next book !!!

I definitely recommend this series!!!
Well gotta start book 3 and it's 12:40 am!!! Thank heavens it's Saturday morning lol 😂 Enjoy 😊 !!!!

I have read a few of T.G. Ayer's books now, and I think one of my favorite things about her writing style is her ability to make her characters so perfectly realistic. Even when they are saving the world in fantastical ways they are believable, and Kai is the perfect example of that. Without telling you anything about the story (I think the blurb does that perfectly) I will tell you that this is a wonderful, exciting, magical story that I read in one very long sitting. There was no way I was putting it down, and sleep is stupid (quote from my child). This is one series that I know I will read over and over again.

This second instalment in the series is as good as, if not better than the first. Following Kai's battle against the wraith poison, her fight to retrieve her sister Greer from the Greylands, and all the resulting fallout, it's a great read, and I'd definitely recommend it to those who've read and enjoyed the first book, and to other shifter and magic lovers (though you really need to read book one for this one to make sense). Now I'm just bursting to find out what'll happen next in book three!
NB I received a complimentary copy of this book, but I always give an HONEST review based wholly on my own opinions

First let me state that I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review.

Holy shiznet!!! This is the second book of the series, and it's just as good, if not better. This story started right where the last one ended. Kai was suffering the poisoning from obsidian blade shard that was in her arm. Logan was trying to perfect his fire so that he could heal her. Now Kai has to choose who to try & save first, her mother & Anjelo, or Greer. So much more going on. I was so wrapped in this story, I couldn't put it down. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up.

In Lost Soul, the second installment of the DarkWorld series: SkinWalker by T. G. Ayer, Kai must rescue his sister Greer, who accidentally (?) entered the Greylands through a portal opened by the evil leader of the Wraiths. Time is pressing, as Greer is losing his mind and Kai is getting weaker because of the poison of the Wraiths.
In this book, our heroine acts more maturely, and her personal relationships, with Logan especially, are strengthened by forming an assorted group of allies in her fight against evil.
Another success on the list of T. G. Ayer, a story with novel scenarios, the exact dose of romance and action, fast and very entertaining, ideal for reading on a weekend.

Now I am jumping into this one having to have some answers with also being given some new dilemmas also. This author takes what happens emotionally for real and transfers it splendidly in here via Kai and her choices. Having had issues herself she still goes that final step for them. What we are given is even more interesting in the form of other characters that also are contained in this. New place too adds to the lure that keeps you here in this adventure. By the time you have consumed this one you take a breath and lay back for a minute before consuming again.

Life got involved & this book took me way longer than normal to read.

Anyway ... this book was amazing! Kai is such a string character with quite a morale compass but also the ability to kill nearly indiscriminately as needed.

She is out to save the important people in her life that are missing and need saving. She has a previous injury that is causing her a great deal of issues.

This world is well defined and I feel like I am sitting on my couch watching the story play out like a movie. It is vivid and fantastic!

I look forward to the next book in the series!

I really enjoyed reading this book. The worlds were easy to picture, and the characters all had their own elements of charm, be it positive or negative in nature. I strongly recommend you read this series in order...otherwise you might feel lost if you are just getting started with any book but the first edition in this set. Kailin strikes out on new adventures in this novel, and she makes many new discoveries along the way. I would recommend this book for readers interested in fantasy with shifters and other supernatural presences.

Talking about jumping from the frying pan to the fire. Ayer's has definitely got an excellent series going here. Book 1 rolled right into Book 2 and it amazes me how one female can get herself so caught up in so much while everyone else is left to pick up the pieces once she is done. Tell her to stay put! No way if Kailin thinks she needs to take care of business...she is off and running. This time it leads to the Graylands where her sister is stuck...but is she really? You just have to read for yourself and I can tell you that you won't be disappointed.

A nail-biting, heart pounding, thrill ride second installment in the SkinWalker series by T.G. Ayer.
Starting where book one left off, "Lost Soul' continues Kai's story, hell bend on saving her family and her sanity along with them, specially her sister who is trapped in the Greylands.
Kai is such an awesome heroine in every way. She isn't perfect, but not much can stop her and makes her pretty kick ass in my opinion.
Lost Soul is dark, gritty and yet hopeful. A must read to anyone who read the first in this series or who is looking for a new series to start with an amazing heroine at the helm, a great romance, and an even greater overall story that is set in a fantastic world of paranormal beings and the like.
I was given a free copy of this novel from the author and have written this unbiased review of my own free will.

Keeps getting better!

This book is non stop. It is full of action and adventure, new friends and powerful entities. Kai has to save her bonehead sister from the Graylands before she can rescue her mother and Anjelo. She has back up from Logan and Lily, and Tara and her mother Gracie. Of course, she is having to deal with her Wraith poisoned arm while planning these heroic feats. Well written, quick paced, and simply fantastic.

I would highly recommend reading Book 1 first in order to understand the story fully. This is a fast paced story with twists and turns. I love the different paranormal races the reader is introduced to in this book. The characters are well developed and enjoyable. I like this Authors descriptive world building which allows the reader to be able to "see" where this is taking place. I look forward to more in the series and from this Author

These books are just chock full of story, so much happens and goes on! I love the length of these books and how meaty the story is - and I keep wanting more. The author has obviously thought out in detail how her world works, what's special and unique about each species she's writing about - shifers, fae, mages, demons, death speakers, etc. Really looking forward to where the story is going.
