Title: The KJV Daily Devotional - Inspiration and Encouragement from the Beloved King James Version.
Compiled By: Barbour Staff
Publisher: Barbour Publishing Inc.
Date of Publishing: May 1, 2018

This book given to me by NetGalley and Barbour Publishing Inc. in exchange for my honest review.

Using text and scripture from the King James Version of the Bible has withstood the passage of time. For over 40 years Christians and scholars alike have chosen this version of the scriptures for good reason. The flowing old English style continues to capture the honest translation without the modernization of the wording of todays lax English changing the meaning behind the words. . This devotional offer short daily thought provoking insights into the Bible. Told in the oldest standard translation used by the Christian community in general today. The scriptures are beautifully worded and easy to understand.

I gave "The KJV Daily Devotional - Inspiration and Encouragement from the Beloved King James Version" a 4.75 out of a total of 5 stars.

The KJV Daily Devotional Is a sweet devotional. It is a very quick devotional - a Scripture reading then a little word about the subject, then a short prayer. It is truly very quick. There is 365 days worth of devotionals. I received a copy of this book from the Publisher and Netgalley; all of the opinions expressed in this review are all my own.

It’s a refreshing change to have a devotional book with KJV scripture references. I’ve always found it difficult to find new devotionals using the lyrical text of King James. Each day begins with one verse of Scripture, followed by a devotional thought, and then at the bottom of each page is a suggestion to get you started on what to pray about in regards to the devotional.
When I first started reading the devotionals I thought they barely scratched the surface (like Day One). There are some that get beyond the surface, digging a bit deeper and giving the reader something to really chew over (i.e. on intercessory prayer, or on Rejoicing in the Lord NOT circumstances). I think it generally evens out with very light to a bit deeper thoughts on the verses quoted by the end of the book. A few devotional thoughts give other references as an extended thought within the text of the “meditation”.
There is encouragement throughout the pages to study the Scriptures for yourself so that you’re not led astray by false teaching. So I’m glad to see that there is something said about studying the Bible as oftentimes I think devotionals become the source of spiritual teaching or used as a substitute for daily Bible readings/study for some. This should be used as a supplement not as your main study material.
Each devotional takes about 2 or 3 minutes to read but one can spend a whole lot more time than that thinking over the point that the author(s) say(s).
The format is undated so one can start this book at any point during the year (though technically it is true of other devotionals too…you’re not held to the date at the top of the page). I appreciate this format a bit better than dated ones as I don’t feel “obligated” to follow the date but can just pick up wherever I left off. I realize this is more of a personal preference as others will disagree.
I received an ebook review advance copy from the publisher through NetGalley. The opinions expressed are entirely my own.

The KJV Daily Devotional beautifully done. I love the King James Version and find it increasingly difficult to find books that still use this version. I was elated to find this devotional because of that. The book is labeled with a number instead of being dated. I think this would be useful if you were unable to stay on schedule with the calendar. Each day contains a Bible verse, discussion, and a suggested prayer. The passages are encouraging and comforting. The back of the book also features a Scripture index. I really like this devotion, especially since I don’t have to cross reference the Bible verse to the KJV as I commonly have to do with other devotions. It would also make a great gift.

I received an advance reading copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I was not obligated to write a positive review.
