Everyone knows that, but after a drug experiment gone wrong, a new generation of children share a frightening number of characteristics with the fictional bloodsucking monsters. Needing blood to survive. Advanced hearing capabilities. The ability to control people with their minds…
I’m Savanna James. Loner, outsider, whatever you want to call it, I have no friends, and that’s okay with me. Or at least, it was. Everything changed the day I met the Patton brothers. I knew what they were. Homo Altiorems, or Alts, the children born to participants in the XRT-90 trials. Three dark-haired, silver-eyed, smokin’ hot Alts, at my school, in my cafeteria, staring right at me. They insisted on getting to know me, because something about me was different. Special.
I went from having zero friends to having three boys devoted to me in every way. And they were right. I was different. There’s one thing I can do that no one else can, and it changed my life. It changed theirs, too.
This is a young adult reverse harem paranormal romance suitable for teens and adults, ages 15+
Wendi Wilson is a mother to two rambunctious boys, a fat black cat, two ferrets, and a pup named Izzy. She spends her time watching her boys play baseball and football, volunteering at school, reading and writing.
She enjoys reading YA paranormal romance, NA romance, and dystopian novels. Her first book, Shadowed Strength, is the culmination of 20+ years of work, a dream finally realized.
I kept forgetting to post my review of this book. I wrote it in my notebook and forgot to write it in here. This is the first book in a trilogy by Wendi L Wilson, I've read all three of these books now. I feel like this was a cutesy, very Twilight esque book. Heck the heroine and one of her beaus even got in to a Team Edward or Team Jacob debate. So honestly this book was published in June of 2018 and it seems to want to capitalize on the Twilight craze about ten years to0 late or in my case five. I'm not a middle schooler anymore.
As someone who is not overly a fan of romance driven books I read a lot of it. It just calms the brain from school and everything. As such I have been trying to get out from the whole broody dude and Mary Sue girl thing so yeah a YA reverse harem book, why not? I did surprisingly enjoy the concept but literally nothing happened. A book can be romance driven, but it should not be romance exclusive. "Persuade" is basically spent trying to figure out the relationship between Savanna and the boys. The triplet brothers- Beckett, Wyatt and Jett.
The writing is nonunique, which as Kindle Unlimited a book I was kind of expecting but there always things that change the norms. It's extremely easy to follow with some editing mishaps. Not a bad book to read on Kindle Unlimited. A tad cliche times 3 because oh golly triple the ankst and boys. Instalove galore. But let's just say I finished the second book in an hour right after.
I an dying! Ms. Wilson has just blown my mind with the excellence of this book! As a fan of Laurell K. Hamilton’s early work on the Anita Blake series, I saw so many similarities. The great thing though was that this fast-paced read was on a PG rating.
Savanna is brilliant as a strong, yet caring protagonist. She’s put up with bullying and learned how to be self-contained. She has a temper, but a great moral compass, so when a cute “Alt” boy knocks her down she gives him the business. The thrill ride starts there! Three gorgeous triplets, “vampires”, each one kind, sexy, and romantic. An experimental youth drug has caused a mutation in the children born. They need blood to survive, but not like old Dracula. Everything else has stayed basically human. Basically *wink* just with some upgraded senses and strengths. But something sinister waits in the shadows and it’s not fellow high schoolers.
I devoured this book and marveled at how it could take a genre that I enjoy and make it about love and respect, not sex. Did this take anything away? Ruin a Feyre & Rhysand chapter 55 feeling? Nope, if anything the writing style made the whole novel a lip-biting, page turning, five star read. Now I just need the sequel because I’ve found my new favourite paranormal author!
Cliffhanger ending. This book counts towards my Reverse Haram Revolution Bingo book challenge: "Twins or Triplets"
As I read this book I kept thinking this book is a triple threat OTT Drama? -CHECK Easily triggered h? -CHECK Twins or Triplets? CHECK in regards to my bingo book challenge it's an absolute goldmine. However, not taking my Bingo challenge opportunities into account... This book is not fit to line birdcages, absolute tripe. I should add that although a RH this book was as sexy as tighty whities or granny panties. Sure, I'd not be surprised someone out there thinks gran’s panties or the male equivalent tighty whities are hawt, for me it's a turn off. 1 star
Persuade is a fun, fast-paced, romantic paranormal romp. I loved the characters first and foremost - Savanna is a fiesty heroine, flawed yet surprisingly sweet. For the triplets of course Beckett is my favorite - who can resist the passionate bookworm? Wendi keeps it sexy without crossing the line into new adult, which is amazing considering it's a reverse harem book. This is not my preferred genre, but I loved it because it's so engaging and the romantic scenes are written so well, bringing the reader up front and personal. Though the plot is nothing like Twilight, I was reminded of that epic series in the feel of the romance, the emotion of those scenes. The only drawback would be lack of a real conflict, but I can see by the setup, there will be plenty to look forward to in the next installment. Check it out if you love YA paranormal romance (heavy on the romance), you won't be disappointed!
Persuade is a quick easy paranormal romantic read. Very YA in temper and tone with hints of Meyer’s Twilight - there’s even multiple mentions of the Twilight series that has me thinking Wilson is a bit of a fan.
Set in high school with a content warning for readers aged 16 plus, I was pretty sure before reading it that it might be a bit young for me. And in all honesty it wasn’t too bad but there were a few things that stripped it of a four star rating for me. The main one being the fact that our main character, Savanna, tells the guys she loves them after only a couple of days - how can you even truly know someone after only three days - but then to make matters worse, she tells them she’s IN LOVE with them. This is too close to insta-love for my tastes, feels like infatuation more than love.
Wilson has created her own unique world of vampires; I do really like the concept of the Alt and their gift of pursuasion. Savanna, as the hot tempered MC, is not your average whiney teenager found in YA novels. Insta-love aside, she is rather clear sighted and honest about her life, I was not surprised at the secrets revealed regarding her however. The guys are a good mix and appear to be true to their 17 year old selves. I didn’t like how Wilson had Savanna ordering the guys around in regards to taking their tops off and similar, but when one of them joked about her maybe returning the favour in the future Savanna bulked and got all nervous. Also, I didn’t like how Savanna got all righteous when the guys tried to use pursuasion on her but she’s happy to use it on them - fairs fair, equality and all that jazz, can’t have one rule for guys and another for girls; everyone deserves to be treated with respect
Wilson’s writing style is typical of many YA authors, easy to follow. There were a few editing errors but nothing major, and as this was book one it concentrated on building the relationship between Savanna and the guys so not a lot happened; hopefully there will be more plot development in book two. As a true YA, there is only kissing and some heavy petting, and even though it is a RH it concentrated on their singular relationships more than a group one; one of the guys even mentions that the thought of doing anything while his brothers are there is gross, so maybe not a true RH. If you are a fan of twilight, like YA Reverse Harems and don’t mind a bit of insta-love then I’d recommend giving Pursuade a go, and with no cliffhanger and book two almost out it is safe to start anytime.
Seriously, every single cliche that could possibly fit the genre is present. Outsider meets newcomers who elevate her social standing? Check. Only she sees them as real people? Check. Insta-love? Check. "Vampires" repelled by Twilight comparisons? Check. Threat from the past suddenly reappears and only she can save their situation with sacrifice? Check. Honestly, the only thing that wasn't an epic fail was the grammar.

It was vaguely cute, and well-written, but not terribly interesting. This book took me almost a MONTH to read!!! I usually finish books in two days.
Basically, we have 15-year-old Savannah, whose life changes when she meets and falls in love with triplet 'vampire' brothers Jett, Wyatt and Beckett. I say 'vampires' instead of vampires because they're technically Alts, meaning humans who've been transformed genetically to drink blood. Through her relationship with them Savannah discovers that she's not really all that normal herself.
Savannah was such a flip-flop character for me. One minute she was crying all over the place, the next she was screaming at her parents when they were (understandably) somewhat doubtful as to her sudden new four-way relationship. Also, she acted like 'Savannah from Savannah' was the most horribly cruel nickname anyone could bestow on her. And... yeah, it's really not the height of bullying. She was also a major Mary Sue - blonde, beautiful, but friendless and bullied by everyone, extra-special-sauce powers, and the icing on the cake, 'different from all the other girls.'
The boys were a bit better - they all had defined personalities, a must in RH, and stuck to them well. Their relationship on the whole was pretty cute. Sadly there were no group scenes but they were like 15, so hopefully in the future...
The whole storyline with the boys' Uncle Patton was really boring, which is bad because that formed the entire plot after about the 50% mark, but I think I'll read the sequel because I find myself a tiny bit interested in the progression of their RH relationship.
Not recommended if you need some sort of drama or tension to go with your character sketches.
Twilight meets sci-fi experimental genetics gone sideways. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect, but was blown away and left dying to know more when I finished! The writing is very well done and balanced perfectly between details and plot progression. The characters were complex and each had a very unique but endearing personality that I was able to easily connect with. I actually can't pick a favorite sibling because I love them all. Wilson did a great job weaving in little moments that really bring the story and characters to life. I found I couldn't put it down and was questioning everything trying to figure out the who's and why's. It is a reverse harem, but remained clean and PG-13. If you want something thrilling with strong characters, I highly recommend giving this a try!
It’s been so long since I’ve read RH and I really enjoyed this book! Not only is the cover fan-fricken-tactic, the storyline itself had me hooked instantly. This series puts such a unique spin on the concept of vampires! The Patton brothers all have different personalities but they’re all equally sweet. The thing I love about them the most is that they’re not at all controlling and let Savanna do as she pleases. It’s a refreshing change from the alpha-dominating males I’ve seen in other books and it makes the brothers that much more loveable. Really interested to see where this series goes and what comes next!
Ok yeah I love this book ! Never judge a book by its cover I guess I saw the cover and wasn’t sure at first then I read the description and was like ok yeAh maybe and it stayed in my library for awhile cuz in my head I was thinking maybe it’s gonna be to governmenty and I usually don’t like books like that but so far this series isn’t like that at all and I love it so so much it’s soft of twilighty which I love ! And have no complaints about what so ever ! I do hope it gets a little steamier in the next books but I’m excited to find out !!
I don't normally give written reviews on here because I'm pretty sure I'm not the most qualified person to do so but this time I couldn't help it. I have read many steamy reads and never blinked an eye but these characters and there antics had me gigiling and blushing like a virgin. I will say though that I will not object to some "kinky foursomes" in future instalments.😜
I AM IN LOVE!!! Why do all the amazing reverse harems feel so short! I need the second book like right now!! July 13th please come soon. I have been in the reverse harem mood and this just added to my love of them! I was looking for a book to read on my flight and I was like why not read a little before bed. I ended up reading the whole book so yeah... that happened. Now I need to find a book and not read it this time. I probably will because I am wide awake now! I mean I NEED the second book!!
This book was great! Savanna and her boys are a story that keeps you intrigued from the beginning to the end, never knowing what’s going to happen! I can’t wait for the next book to find out more of their story!
Was not disappointed. Well a tad bit with Savanna's wishy-washy attitude at points, but I enjoyed most of the story. The storyline was unique and none of the teen angst feel to this book like so many like others. It was enough to make me want to read the next one.
Creative storyline great characters and we'll written. Funny and charming. It has the creepy character you want to hate and hurt because you are rooting for the main characters to wun
I really liked this book. A completely different take on vampire's "ALTS". The romance was fast but steady we see the development. The story was complex and intriguing.. and the love was sweet. Cant wait for the next book.
I received a free copy for an honest review. I don't usually like any kind of harem story but this one caught my interest. Mostly because I had recently read the Suppressed series by Mrs. Wilson. I was intrigued by the plot line as well. Scientific versions of vampires, what wouldn't catch your interest? I also wanted to see how this reverse harem would work out. I must say, each boy definitely has his charm. I am interested to see how the next book goes.
This was only the second reverse harem book I've ever read and I have to say it blew me away. The storyline was so intriguing I found it hard to put down. The characters made my heart race. Each of the guys added something special to the table and each complimented the main female character well. This was so unique and had a fresh spin on vampires. I loved this book so much! 5 stars from me!
Was a good book to read although everything happened so fast I got whiplash 3 days to fall in love but in saying that I can’t wait to read the next book
Hmmmm. I was really excited to read this book, and was even more excited for the high reviews, and yet, a little part of me hated it. The storyline was cool, the boys I dug, savanna was the miss for me, actually, I couldn't freaking stand the chick. She aggravated me to want to just stop reading this book. I actually came very close a couple times just throwing in the towel with her ignorance. She likes the guys, excepts them, but yet she calls them alts which is the name of their kind, She wants to hang with them, date them, but her inner mind workings tell her, omg I'm alone with this guy who is a alts, he could hurt me and no one would know. Ugh either you except them or you dont, you can't have it both ways. She was the most annoying girl I've ever read about. Always crying and doubting herself. She has this suppose temper which just comes of as a spoiled child, and every time she tells them she loves them she literally runs, like gets up and runs pretty much where ever? I will not be finishing this series. Wish I didn't even start it.
Fast paced and quickly escalated relationships. Savanna falls in with three Alt triplets, each one takes a liking to her and asks her to choose one of them. Favourite character is Wyatt, the plot line is obvious but it’s enjoyable and reads like the eye of a storm.
I was divided on the book as a whole. There were aspects that really called to me and made me want to read more, while there were also some that definitely put me off and made me want to never pick the book up again. Let's start with the good parts, shall we? First of all, there was no easing into things with this book. From page one we jumped right into the thick of it. And I actually like it. Everything was explained in an easy to understand manner and there was never any confusion on my part. And from that first page that was exactly how the story progressed - never slowing down. We met all the important characters in the first one or two chapters and even had "the talk" (you know the one I'm talking about) pretty early on. I liked that the author decided not to beat around the bush and laid it all out there. The idea for the plot was very good. I like the whole science-experiment-gone-wrong approach of the "vampire" situation. And the plot twists actually managed to surprise me here, which is a rare thing and should be appreciated! But now let's talk about the negative staff. The plot, while having a great idea behind it, never actually went anywhere. On the one hand, I can understand hat this was sort of the foundation for the series and we were just being introduced to everything. But on the other hand, I wanted some further developments - I wanted some action! And I did not really get it. The relationship, well. Two words can describe the whole thing perfectly - teen drama. They meet -they go on one date each - they know each other no longer than a day or two - BAM love proclamation. Some little (totally expected, I might add) argument occurs - BAM we are going into a hissy fit. Your parents have a negative reaction to finding out you are dating multiple guys - run out of the house in tears because the world is not fair I just hate teen drama.
In the end, I do believe that the book is interesting and has some pretty good potential, but it is definitely aimed at the younger audience and I just do not have the patience for it.
This book is...silly. If i hadn't been in the mood for a reverse harem fluff piece, i would have stopped 20% in. There is no conflict in this book other then in the last few pages. The MC is annoying as hell. She's constantly reminding everyone how she doesn't care what anyone thinks about her, while a good portion of her internal monologue is worrying about how she's coming off or what people might be thinking.
She basically goes between being nervous enough to stutter and letting her 'vicious Southern temper' out to play. Complete with consciously lifting her upper lip in a snarl.
The peers at school that receive her temper are fully deserving, as they are her lifelong nemises's from an altercation in kindergarten. That's right, kindergarten. These teenagers have never been able to move past their 5 year old smack down in the playground, and even bring it up as humiliation points with each other. It was ridiculous.
The boys i actually really liked. Their differences were nice, and i liked the RH aspect of the book, even if it was all completely PG rated. I was overall pretty happy with the writing.
So yeah, this book was pretty dumb, but i am somewhat curious on what's going to happen and i think I'll continue with the series for now. At least until my patience runs out.
"You didn’t have to do that,” I said. “I can handle her on my own.” “Oh, I know you can,” Jett said, his words ringing true."
*sigh* My first warning sign that I wasn't going to like the book and I started it like what, less than 10 minutes ago?
You see this quiet girl stutter and blush. When she does talk to others, she mumbles. That's it, that's all you know about her. Yet the author tries to convince us that the girl "got it under control" and that the guy KNEW and had the confidence that she was capable of dealing with her problems on her own? Yeah, no, I don't buy it.
Fast forward a few chapters and we've had the mandatory sad background story and "Why do you like me? Do you like me for me?" speech. Guys say they like her because she's funny and smart... BUT THEY STILL DON'T KNOW HER SO HOW WOULD THEY KNOW SHE'S EITHER OF THEM? She answered ONE question in shool and she is smart? That's it? And funny, how? Because she blushes? Jesus.
I get that this is a fast-paced story but sadly I don't feel it was well done at all.

This was a interesting read and quite enjoyable, At first I wasn't too sure but it started to pull me into the story once I read a chapter or two. I decided to read this book as it sounded familiar to others I've read with a young girl falls for a guy or guys in this case who is different whether he`s a demon, alien or been genetically modified but has to deal with everything that makes them unique.
A nice quick read where Savanna meets Jett, Wyatt and Beckett, Three identical twins known as ALTs (Vampires) who transfer to her school and instantly want to get to know her more after Jett (the cocky one) tries to persuade her when she calls him a Jerk. The three develops quick relationship which is threatened when they Discover a well kept secret that changes everything for Savanna and how the guys came too be in the right/wrong place at the time of their meeting. Introducing a hot headed teenage girl and three equally gorgeous teenage guys and their story.
Savanna and her boys are so sweet. Such an innocent RH...this is why YA RH are rare. I loved it!! And how different each of the triplets is...nerdy, fun-loving and serious/cocky. I loved each one of them as much as Savanna does. I also feel for them, because of how they’ve been treated throughout their lives.
The original take on vampires was great!! And Alts aren’t exactly like vampires, they just depend on blood, have great hearing and can persuade humans. But they don’t have super speed, super strength and they can be out in the sun. The story behind how the became Alts is interesting too.
I thought the writing was great and the dialogue very realistic and easy to follow. The characters are complex to a degree and I look forward to seeing more of them in book two!!
The narrator’s voice wasn’t my favorite and it grated on me a bit, but she made the story easy to follow.
Great book, I feel that teens and young adults would like this book. We have a story about a drug experiment gone wrong. Children need to drink blood to stay alive. Savanna James is a loner, who has been bullied all her life. She loses her temper very fast due to this. One day Jett runs into her and knocks her stuff over, she bites her tongue not to lose it, but when he is out of hearing distance she makes a remark, that he hears. At lunch she sits alone with like usual and sees the triplets sitting at a table, they look at each other. When the boys show up in all her classes, boy does she have questions. What is going on? Will she have them as friends? Will it become more? What will happen when her parents find out she is hanging out with the Alts? What is different about her that they want to hang out with her? I received an ARC copy for my honest review.
Personally I prefer a slow burn and am not a fan of Insta love. So this book was never really going to be one that I loved. On top of that I feel like the plot is a big let down which is a shame because the concept is different from a lot of other RH books out there. Disclaimer,; I think that this extremely young adult as it felt very juvenile for RH. I have read and enjoyed YA RH that is not as.....immature as this.
SPOILERS....
The end annoyed me. I think it was meant to be a cliff hanger but by this point it fell short for me. The bribe was weak...like exposing her would expose him and what was done to the children and if it was really about keeping her boys she would only have to wait less than a year? A good bribe in a book should leave no room for possibility, i.e. ways out. This was not that at all.
I really thought the author had a great concept with this twist on vampires. It definitely led the way to some interesting possibilities regarding the storyline.
However, the book fell very short when it came to developing the relationship between Savanna and her Alts. There was no realistic build to get the characters to a realistic relationship status. And to further emphasis the lack of development, all of sudden they’re throwing out “I love you” after a ridiculously short time dating. I’ve never been a fan of the insta-relationship, and this book really had it in spades.
Like I said, the concept is definitely intriguing and I think that maybe the characters could be as well but the whole thing really needs way more development.
