Harvey Church

Harvey Church has a background in finance, which is how he found himself writing about the people and ridiculousness (sometimes the same thing) of that field in his Edwin Burrows light mystery series. Although he considers himself retired from that field (aka not working), he's planning another three Edwin Burrows novels for 2018.

His first "serious" novel, The Last Friend, is a Kindle Scout writing competition winner and was published by Kindle Press on January 9, 2018. The BookLife Prize called it "an entertaining read for mystery and thriller fans alike," and said it is "an unexpected and exciting series of events that will grab readers." Harv plans two sister novels to The Last Friend in 2018, one titled The Last Night (Spring 2018) and the other tentatively titled The Last Survivor.

For fun, Harv likes to practice street magic and spends hours engineering tricks to wow his audiences. He is also an avid hockey fan (Go Leafs Go). As for the boring details: He has a wife (incredible) and two kids (depends on the day, but they’re normally incredible too). His favorite color is blue, but he drives a black car because he read somewhere, back in the 90’s, that radar detectors have a tough time seeing them. Interestingly, he never speeds because he's too busy singing like nobody's watching, or maybe it's that everybody is deaf.

He's a supporter of double-chins, double-dates, and double-dipping (though never on double-dates), and obviously enjoys writing about himself in the third person, in the voice of the narrator from The Royal Tenenbaums.

Connect with Harv by searching Harvey Church Mysteries on Facebook, at @hashtag_harv on Instagram, and @harveychurch1 on Twitter. You can also find him wandering the streets of Chicago, Toronto, Montreal or the Lido deck of a Princess Cruise ship. If you ever meet Harv, ask to see a magic trick!

Edwin fights for a friend

Another great part to a great series! Edwin must help clear his friend Arjun of murder.
This book will keep you guessing, as well as laughing as Edwin discovers who killed the sexually harassing colleague.
I hope this series keeps going and stays as entertaining as all the other previous books.

Edwin's Equity by Harvey Church is yet another adventure I got to take with Mr. Edwin Burrows. Edwin's books are always fun, mysterious, and leave you wanting more. I can't wait to see what unexpected events are coming in the next book. I'm addicted to all things Edwin and I'm rooting for him.

In Edwin's Equity, Edwin must figure out who killed someone he worked with and prove a friends innocence. You'll be glued to your kindle through every twist and turn. Edwin discovers so many secrets it's hard not to try and figure out who the killer is, but in the end, you'll be blown away because whatever you're thinking will probably be wrong. I love how Harvey draws you in and keeps you engaged. Edwin and Rachel working together is always fun and filled with lots of drama, but you also love how they seem to complete each other and can solve any crime together. This book was a long time coming for me and I'm so glad I got to read it and I'm even more excited for the next one because I need to know how Edwin is going to fix his mistakes.

So if you love a good mystery with interesting characters, then you'll enjoy Edwin's Equity.

I give Edwin's Equity 4 out of 5 CAPTIVATING STARS!

I just love this series! It’s a wonderful murder mystery with humor and romance thrown in the mix. The characters play off of one another beautifully. I can’t wait for the next in this series.

Harvey Church has outdone himself with Edwin Burrows’ latest adventure, Edwin’s Equity. The tone of this book is slightly more serious than the prior books in the series. However, it is still peppered with the wry humor readers have come to expect from Mr. Church’s lovable characters.

What is Edwin’s equity? That question is posed to him mid-story, and it is a defining moment for the lead character. This book, while a delicious mystery, is a turning point for the character. Mr. Church provides much more insight into his lead character. I loved where Mr. Church takes Edwin in the epilogue!

Edwin’s Equity is a well-paced mystery with ever-increasing story tension. The story zenith is dramatic, and the denouement is a bit ambiguous as Harvey faces a fork in his road and doubts about the honesty and integrity of people he thought he knew well.

Each book in this series can be read as a standalone story, however, for maximum enjoyment, read the books in order to appreciate the character and relationship development.

Need a 6th Edwin Burrows!

I've enjoyed all 5 Edwin books. Edwin's development, both as an accountant and as a human being, has been great fun to read. My only problem with the series has been that Harvey Church deserves a good copy editor. There are too many typos and sentences with either too many words or not enough words. The plot is too good to settle for bad editing. I kept reading because I couldn't put it down. And I really want to read number 6!

Comical and suspenseful

I love Edwin’s endearing innocence and cluelessness that somehow meshes so well opposite of privileged Rachel’s charm, class, intelligence and compassion.

Enjoyable series

As Edwin settles into a domesticated life with Rachel and Eloise, they are called back to Chicago to help a colleague and friend who has been charged with murder. Edwin stumbles his way through the investigation he manages to irritate everyone including Rachel. Suffice it to say when Edwin returns to Portland he returns alone. Hopefully the series continues.

The first four books made Edwin seem a little unmotivated but not a jerk. So now on the last book you turn him into a jerk and stupid. I will read more books about edwin, but unmotivated, sure, stupid, not. Every other character, keep the same, just give Edwin back his common sense. He can still be under productive, just not a complete ass.

Another great Burrows mystery

I have enjoyed this series of books immensely! The
scenes with Eloise in this book were so cute. Amazing he could love another man's child that way.

I enjoyed the series DESPITE the main character.

I’m glad he didn’t have a happy ending - he didn’t deserve it…
