Rate this book

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! Chasing Butterflies (stand-alone). The girl who got away & the guy from the wrong side of town feel the butterfly effect four years later!

“You’re my butterfly, with wings that give me that feeling whenever I think of you.”

I will try to write a better review when I catch up…

Chasing Butterflies (stand-alone) is a beautiful tale about the healing power of forgiveness. High school student from the wrong side of the tracks Kelley Moore meets the good girl school princess Lenora Wells.

It was an impossible forbidden love that could never be. Torn apart by circumstances their lives took different turns. When they cross paths in their college years they must sort through hurt, pain, lies, secrets and deception to find forgivness.

Chasing Butterflies, told from dual POVs, is a coming-of-age-tale and second chance romance. If offers a mixture of angst and an against-all-odds love.

MY RATING

Told in dual POV (Kelley & Lenora aka Lenny)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This will be my first time reading anything by this author so I'm keen to see what journey she takes me on..

CHASING BUTTERFLIES: Kick starts the book off in the prologue, 2 brothers, aged, 8 & 13 awaken to the sounds of screams from their mother by the monster who masqueraded as their father. These two vow to rescue her.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic “We would stop Dad once and for all and save Mom from any more ugly bruises, or worse, a trip to the hospital.”

Lenora "LENNY" is the girl from the right side of the tracks a beautiful town princess who longs for the day when she can leave her small town behind, but before that can happen she's persuaded by her parents to date a guy named Ox for the sole purpose of helping her father in a business proposition.

Lenny doesn't even like the guy, he doesn't give her those butterfly feelings she's always chasing.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic I had a boyfriend for two years
I was ready to have fun and with someone I chose,
not because my parents chose the boy for me.

One night … one kiss … one touch … will change everything.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Image and video hosting by TinyPic I hated my life, the one I was forced to live.
My father took out his frustrations with life on Mom and me.
And she loved him too much to leave him.
If that was love, I wanted no part of it.
It didn't make sense that love should hurt so much.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

When their lives collide, the world shifts and not in their favor. Four years later, the sins of their past can never be taken back and forgiveness won’t come easy.

As soon as I started this my day was pretty much rooted, visiting friends, yeah na didn't happen, grocery shopping another yeah na didn't happen, I was stuck in fantasy land with my nose in this book..It ticked all my boxes, the angst, god those feels, I love/crave/need books like this..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Image and video hosting by TinyPic I wanted just one day to live a norm; life without fear, without going to bed hungry because it was better not to be seen. And going to the kitchen mean't I might be fed a knuckle sandwich instead.

You know when your so stuck in a book and the seconds, minutes, hours just disappear and you look outside at the dark night and wonder where the day disappeared to I blame that on this book, I loved everything about it, there's nothing I would change..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic You stole my heart, and now you've taken my soul,
if you leave me, I'll be left a shell of a man.

I hope this author takes us on another journey with the background characters that appeared in this book, especially Chance or even the two best friends (Sawyer & Ashton) that grew up together, I'd love to know their stories..
I'm just greedy for more from this author..

I don't think I've ever felt like that with anyone else."
"Felt what? Butterflies?"
"If that's what they call it. You've got me chasing them."

Wow. Before I get to my review, let me say this. Don't let my rating fool you. This book had me glued to the pages from beginning to finish. Aside from a few quibbles that I had, the story itself was beautiful. It drew me in from the very first chapter and kept me glued to the pages. The author clearly has an incredible talent and I strongly believe she has great things ahead of her. While this may not have been a full four star read for me, it was a damn solid 3 and I'll get to my reasons why shortly.
Go back to the ball, princess. You won't find any castles or princes here.

Kelley Moore has grown up in a way that no boy should ever have to endure. From a volatile home life to numerous tragedies throughout his life, he's never had it easy. He dreams of making it big in football and making it out on his own.

Lenora Wells may not have had the tragic life that Kelley has, but doesn't live an ideal one either. At the instance of her parents for the good of a potential business deal, Lenora allows them to convince her to date the most popular boy in school. But the boy that gives her butterflies isn't her seemingly too good to be true boyfriend, but the boy from the wrong side of the tracks with the beautifully unusual eyes.

What starts as stolen encounters soon turns into something more only to shatter before their eyes and leave both of them grasping at the jagged pieces.
But time didn't heal wounds. They only dug horrible gouges in my heart as I felt pierced through my very soul.

Chasing Butterflies is told in two parts: past (high school) and present (college). The first half is almost 60% of the story and so emotionally gripping I forgot at times that I'm reading about teenagers. I'm not typically a fan of YA but yet something about these characters simply stood out for me.

Admittedly there was a few issues I had with the writing; odd transitions (one chapter being told in Lenny's POV and the next chapter jumps back a day or a few hours and retold in Kelley's). There was a lack of clear transitions between these scenes at times, that while it wasn't confusing, it did stand out enough to take me out of the story a bit. There were also some odd phrases like ...my brain shorted and some strange analogies that stuck out to me as well...

Her back arched and her pussy milked my dick like one would milk a cow.
...
I'm not a toy to play with, Len. The only kind of play I want to do with you is all hands on, like naked twister.

But even those few issues aside, the story was so strong that it was easy to overlook it. Ultimately what made me lower my rating was the second part of the book that's told in present. While their high school years have strong development and spans over half the book, I had hoped that their college years would bring the same, but alas it didn't. I wanted that sizzle of a second chance romance, and I didn't get that. It felt almost rushed. There were also some (redundant) choices made by the characters that left me scratching my head. And as much as I hate to use the term cliche, there were quite a few scenarios of it present in the last half. I liked Lenny in the beginning even though some of her decisions and choices frustrated me, and even though I can understand why she did what she did when she's older, I still feel like she regressed. I wanted her to find her inner strength and that didn't happen until pretty much the last pages. I suppose I just wanted that sooner.

But here's the thing; even with the aforementioned, this is still a book I would definitely recommend to any lovers of NA romance. The author spins a tale that's tragic and beautiful that even managed to bring a tear to my eye on more than one occasion. The story is well developed, the characters are multi-layered, and it's certainly not a book I'll be forgetting any time soon. So if that blurb intrigues you, read it. One thing guaranteed; it will keep you up all night reading. I definitely look forward to any future releases this author has in store.

Let me start by saying that I read this book, not once but twice! How did I get this lucky???
Chasing butterflies is a beautiful NA love story that starts in High – School and finishes in college. The story is told in two different time frames (4 years apart) and in a Dual POV.
Being a mix of second chance with sports romance, this story has captivated my heart from the start.
Kelley is a 17 year old boy, gorgeous, with a bi – colored eyes and a football player. However, Kelley’s life is far from perfect. His father is a drunk and the only support he has comes from his mother and his older brother, Sandy. Living a life of abuse from his father, Kelley had to learn at a young age that things don’t come easily (except for the young ladies, of course). When unfortunate circumstances happen and Kelley had to move with his family, he didn’t know his life was about to change in so many ways.
Lenora is a 16 year old girl, beautiful as they come and a cheerleader. Living a good life, Lenora aka Lenny is a good girl, with a good heart. Though she has everything to live a perfect life, the truth is something is missing. Like every girl at that age, Lenny wants to give her heart to the right boy, the one who gave her butterflies.
What if the right boy is the new bad boy in town, named Kelley Moore?
When I started reading it, I knew very little about the story. So I had no clue what was in the cards. Kelley & Lenny’s story is heart-wrenching. My heart fell for both in so many ways.
Kelley and Lenny were victims of their own lives. I must confess I was angry at Kelley for a few times.
I disagreed with some of his choices but in the end I understood everything. I loved the young teen and the man he becomes. And I love his cockiness!!
Lenny is a sweet girl trapped in a life she didn’t want to live but with strength out of the ordinary.
Terri deals with sensitive subjects but oh so real that sometimes it hurts! I can guarantee you that this book will make you feel. You’ll cry, you’ll struggle, you’ll laugh and you’ll love it.
Kelley and Lenny share a rare kind of love. The kind of love that makes you feel … butterflies!
In a realistic and heart breaking story, Terri E. Laine proves that love can be timeless, no matter how hard and painful times can be.
I love the title and the cover. They have so much into it. But you will only understand what I’m saying when you read the book.
The story is so much more than I originally thought it would be. And when you hit the 77% mark: WOW, I didn’t see that coming!!
The end is just perfect and I can only wish we can hear from the other characters in the book in a near future.

Overall Opinion: This was ok. It won't go down in my favorites shelf, and I don't think it'll be all that memorable. I enjoyed it at times, and didn't in others. I felt like the second part could've gone a whole lot better. The overall premise was good (I love a good second chance romance), but sadly I don't think it was executed all that well. I'm going to go with a middle of the road rating since it was just kind of...meh. FYI for my safety gals -- there is a few different scenes with the H and OW that I know you'll probably have issues with.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Lenny and Kelley's story. Kelley has been moved around his whole childhood, and he lands in the same town as Lenny. Lenny is dealing with a boyfriend she has been forced to be with, and a best friend who is changing into someone she doesn't recognize anymore. They are instantly drawn to each other, but have some major obstacles in their way. They eventually get together to only be separated for close to 4 years. They are reunited again in college, but Lenny is no longer the same girl as before. After some big reveals, and some other ups and downs...they get a HFN ending.

POV: This alternated between Lenny and Kelley's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Ok. This was broken down in 2 parts: high school and college. I liked their story in high school better than college, so I started to skim some in the second part. They really don't have any time with them as an official couple, and I think that would've been beneficial to add.

Instalove: No, but they do develop feelings pretty quickly.

H rating: 4 stars. Kelley. I liked him. I just wish he was better at keeping it in his pants.

h rating: 3 stars. Lenny. Meh. She was ok. She needed more of a spine at times.

Sadness level: Low. No tissues needed (does cover some heavy issues).

Push/Pull: Mild

Heat level: Moderate. They have pretty good chemistry and scenes.

Descriptive sex: Yes

Safe sex: Not really. They do the pull-out method (because it's oh so effective, you know *rolls eyes*), and they both state that they had never been without with anyone else.

OW/OM drama: Yes

Sex scene with OW or OM: Yes

Cheating: Not really

Separation: Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This had decent closure, but I wanted some time with them as actual couple. I would call it a HFN ending , because I didn't feel all that secure in their relationship.

How I got it: It was part of my kindle unlimited subscription.

Safety: Safe with exception/Not safe depending on personal preferences

What a phenomenal book!! I devoured this book. I found it extremely hard to put this book down and when I was finished I was sad that it was over. I truly could’ve kept reading about these characters.

I won’t be saying much about the story line because I don’t want to spoil anything for other readers, but I will say this book does cover a tough subject that could be a trigger for some readers. If the topic of abuse is a tough subject for you to read then you might want to pass on this book. But with that said, I feel the author did this book and topic justice. Nothing is overly graphic, making it uncomfortable to read, but she has written this story with tact and was still able to get a point across.

Chasing Butterflies was a powerful book in my opinion. There was so much emotion and feelings that went into this story. Your heart and emotions will be all over the map while reading this book. I laughed at times, swooned many times, yelled at my kindle, wanted to throw my kindle and felt the characters heartache. But in the end I was left with a feeling of happiness and I had a smile on my face :) Even though some of the storyline is predictable, Terri was still able to keep me on my toes, but throwing in some surprises here and there.

I thought the writing of this book was great. We got a lot of information, but no too much to slow down the flow and pace of the story. The storyline was captivating and intriguing that it kept me glued to my kindle all the way until the end. I loved the characters we got to follow in this story. Yes there were some I wanted to throat punch (Ox, Debbie and Kelley’s Dad) but all the other ones were fantastic. I felt everything they felt and felt the characters were relatable. This book spans over a couple Genres…it started out as a Mature Young Adult story with the characters being in High School but then by the end we moved into the New Adult Genre, with the characters being in their early twenties and in College. I thought the time movement and growth of these characters was done flawlessly.

I don’t think I can accurately express how much I loved this book and think everyone should read it. This was my first solo written book of Terri E. Laine’s that I have read (I’ve read her co authored books) and I am so excited to read more books by her!! I can’t wait to see what she gives us next.

I would 100% recommend this book to everyone, especially if you are a fan of the New Adult Genre.

5 Butterfly Chasing Stars

A 5 star Young Adult story about the real struggles of growing up and trying to make your way in the world. It’s full of down to earth situations.
Kelley is just a boy from Galveston, Texas who tries to do the best he can so he can be the best brother and son he can be. He has such good looks and he knows that but it can only get you so far. He is very good at football and he hopes it will take him far away from the life he lives. But what people don’t realize is Kelley is smart. He’s going to find a way out.
Lenora, aka Lenny, doesn’t plan to live in her small town any longer than she has to. Even though her parents have put her in an awkward position of having to date the town’s golden boy. Lenny knows there’s more out there.
When Kelley has to move because of his mom it puts him in Lenny’s path. At first they both fight the attraction they have for each other but sometimes you can’t help what your heart wants. (The Butterflies told them both!) Unfortunately with Kelley’s past and the way his life throws him punches he is torn away from the life he is beginning to enjoy with Lenny.
Part 2 finds Kelley and Lenny in very different situations….. That is where I leave this review because I don’t want to give away too much. Read the blurb to the book it tells enough except for this – This book will leave you Wishing for Butterflies and Chasing them!

This boom is split into 2 parts. First part is high school where we were introduced to the main characters. Where they from, their family background etc. The second part is the university year where the main characters met again to memd their relationship.

The story is promising. But the dialog i found it stiff and lack of depth. It makes the chemistry between the characters little bit off. But it still durable. Its still somehow tugging at my heart especially kelly relationship with his mom.

I read this book pretty much in one sitting and I really, really enjoyed it. This is a darker and heavier NA than what we're used to seeing but it's very well done. Kelley, the hero is an amazingly written character and I loved him. Now, the book is kinda divided in 2 parts and the second part is more of a second chace story. I have to say that I enjoyed the first part way more than the second. I especially didn't like some of the decisions the h makes, although I'm sympathetic to her situation. Anyway, the ending and epilogue redeemed that for me. It's definitely a good read if you're looking for a darker NA.

I'm conflicted with my rating on this one. See, it's not anything I haven't read before and there were a few things that really niggled at me. Whilst it's going to come across that I didn't like this, I actually did and read it in one sitting.

The author played this as a book of two halves rather than constant flashbacks which totally worked. I liked that their separation was one out of their control instead of it being a teen ridden misunderstandings fest and that they both had lives (albeit not so good, but still) whilst separated.

I had issues with , sorry but that was a total crock of disbelief! And seriously, he's the school's manwhore (no issues with that) yet their first time they use the pull out method because ... no condom!! Just NO! I also didn't buy why she stayed with the bloke that was abusing her , you pack your shit .... or not ..... and you RUN when that happens.

I do wish the grand reveal hadn't been so rushed, same with the ending.

~~4.75 CHASING BUTTERFLIES STARS~~

This is a second chance romance that's well worth the read. The character's were well developed and the author's writing style was unique. She made sure she caught your attention and held it from A-Z. Be forewarned though, this book has triggers with abuse. If you can't handle abuse then this isn't the book for you.

Kelley had it rough growing up. My heart melted for him when I was reading about his family life and the things he had to endure by the hands of his monster of a father. I appreciate the author making his mother a kind, loving mother. I think it made it a little bit more bearable to know that he was loved.

Lenny was a very strong heroine. Even after she felt like she didn't have any other choice, she turned the tables and did what she knew was best for herself and the people she loved. I stumbled upon this series by a review of one of my GR friends and I'm glad I did.

Definitely was drawn in by the book blurb. I love the butterfly references. It was a solid three-star read -- but it was another one of those coulda/shoulda/woulda cases. Lenny and Kelley's story starts early on in high school where we get a meet that is similar to many other high school first loves and then a parting of the ways and then we pick up again years later for a second chance at love. This one did contain a full tank of angst. The characters were well-drawn and I liked them both quite a lot. Their home lives are far from similar -- yet not perfect for either. My biggest complaint and disappointment centers around the fact that we get an overload of the earlier school day romance and the later second chance is short-changed. I really felt that more energy should have gone into their rediscovering one another and the pathway to a happily-ever-after. It would seem to me to be a more solid persuasion.

It contains some very hot and heavy sexual scenes between young teens and some with unprotected sex. So beware if this is a problem for you as a reader. The language is also explicit and on the edge. There is also both physical and emotional abuse involved as well.

Don't get me wrong, this book kept my attention and I'm glad I read it. This is a new-to-me author and I'll definitely check out other books by her.

I loved this author's collaborations with another favorite author of mine, so when I saw she was coming out with a new solo book I jumped at the opportunity to read it! This author has a way of  taking you on one heck of an emotional rollercoaster that you never want to end.

I loved Kelley from the beginning and I hated how tragic his home life was. He is the ultimate player on and off the football field until he sets his sights on one Lenora Wells. Him and Lenora have instant chemistry although they start off on the wrong foot with one another. Lenora will do anything to make sure that she gets far away from her town, even if it means dating the wrong boy for her, the one her parents want her to date. Although she is taken, she can't keep her eyes off the gorgeous, complicated guy who is the only one to ever give her butterflies. He makes her question all the decisions that she has been forced to make. When their lives finally collide, things happen that tear them apart and forever change their lives.

Four years later, their lives collide once more and college becomes a place of second chances. She is not the same girl he left behind and he will always be the one boy who is always on her mind. She still has him chasing butterflies, but can their love withstand everything that has happened over those four years they were apart?

This book is filled with passion, angst, tragedy, and secrets. I could not put this book down and I cannot wait for the next book to be released by this author!

I’m just going to keep this review short and sweet. This is another hit or miss read and for me, sadly, it was not a hit. For me, it was just ok. When I first heard about this book, I was so excited. It sounded really good and I couldn’t wait to dive in. I think it started off really well and I was intrigued by the story.

However, things went downhill pretty quickly for me. I had a very hard time connecting with Kelley. I didn’t find him likable at all. I sympathized and understood his situation, but his behavior towards Lenora really put me off. Don’t get me wrong, he did have some moments that I liked, but the majority of the time, I couldn’t stand him, and that sucks because he is a main character. I will say that my opinion of Kelley did improve slightly in the second part of the book. His behavior towards Lenora still put me off, but I will say this, he did show up when it counted. He did redeem himself in my eyes, in the end.

So, overall, I thought this book was just ok. Like I said, this is one of those books that you’re either going to love or you’re going to hate. I think this story had a lot of potential and that’s why I’m rounding it up to 3 stars. I do think that it written well and that the plot was intriguing. I liked that this book was sort of YA/NA crossover. This story did have some good moments and did deal with some intense subject matter. I did like Lenora, even though she frustrated me at times. Kelley wasn’t a horrible character, he just left me wanting more……..

A couple of things first ... Terri E Laine is a new to me author and New Adult romance is rarely my thing. Because of this, I paid very close attention when I read. I think that's the key in appreciating a story on its merits even though a reader may not like the subject ... so attention I paid and OH MY GOD ... Have you ever read a book and when it was over you looked at the clock and thought holy shit, I just read this in xyz hours non-stop!? Well, pick up Chasing Butterflies and I guarantee it will happen! #TRUTH

Kelley and Lenora have both not had the easiest of lives, but differently. Kelley's life is surrounded by physical pain and abuse. Lenora's is emotional. Their story is about hope. It's about shattered dreams that can be pieced back together with the right determination. It's about friendship. It's about growth and love and never giving up on chasing those butterflies till you catch them :) It is beautiful and flawless, heartwarming and it will hurt .... but so damn worth it!

Another great, angsty new adult Kindle Unlimited find. I was a little with this one that I was reading a YA instead of an NA book, but we truly needed to know about Kelley and Lenny in high school to get their full story.

I'm onto Catching Fireflies, which is Brie and Chance's book, two characters we meet in this book (which is also on Kindle Unlimited).

I agreed with one reviewer in that the names confused me; Lenny -> her and Kelley -> him... and I'm not gonna lie, this book was very well written, but it was all a bit TOO effed-up for me...

The story follows Kelley Moore (my new hero, I swear each chapter had me falling more and more in love with him), and Lenora Wells, who become unlikely friends in high school. Neither have a perfect home/family life, and a string of unfortunate events lead to Kelley having to leave town. Fast forward 4 years and they just "happen" to attend the same college. A lot has changed though, for both of them, the question is, can they both get past their differences and their past and see what's right in front of them. A beautifully written (in dual POV) second chance romance that had me rooting for a HEA from these two lost souls. I was gifted a copy of this book from the author via GoodReads in exchange for an honest review, and I've got to say, I'm hooked. I can't wait to read Brie and Chance's story.

I'm going to keep this short and sweet. Although this was my first book by Terri E. Laine, it will definitely not be my last. I inhaled the book so incredibly fast, I almost wish I could take it back, just so I could savor it slowly. I won't waste your time by rereading the synopsis to you. What I will tell you is, Terri takes you on a journey of heartache, heartbreak, and discovering that sometimes the ones who should love and protect you the most are the very ones who will let you down. It's not all bad, though, we get to relive first love, make some amazing friends and if we're lucky, have a second chance before it's too late. We just have to remember to keep Chasing Butterflies.

I really enjoyed this story. Lenny and Kelley were amazing! They both had rough lives, but once they meet during their junior year, you follow them through so much turmoil and heartache and can’t help but root for them. I loved how protective Kelley was of Len. He was such a sweet but swoony guy. He went through a lot in his young life. His dad was a piece of shit. My heart ached for him, getting blow after blow of bad luck. I was like, Jesus H Christ, he can’t catch a break. His aunt and uncle were fuckers, treated him and his mom so horribly. I felt bad for him mom. Man, even after all the shit he was dealt, Kelley grew up to be a damn good man. He didn’t let his childhood control his whole demeanor. His love for Lenny never faltered.

Lenny was a great heroine. She endured so much strife from her parents. Ox was a moron, and a total douchebag. Also, Debbie was the biggest shit of a best friend. I hated her. But Len had a heart of gold and she put up with way too much. I was happy when she finally stuck up for herself. I loved that she didn’t give up on Kelley…even years later.

In college, I loved most of the characters that became like family to Kelley and later, Len. Chance, Sawyer, Ashton and Brie. And of course Mason. It was a spectacular group of lovely people that showed what true friendship and family really looked like. I can’t wait to read their books. Especially Chance and Brie.

I’d wanted to read this book for years, since it came out. It’s been on my kindle, so I’m glad I finally gave in. It was a solid read that kept me engaged and interested in what happened with these two beautiful souls. It wasn’t overly angsty or devastating but it had a lot of emotional and sweet moments that made me feel for their circumstances. I was happy with how it ended and look forward to more.

I've never read anything written by Terri E. Ann before so I was excited to read this. I love reading new authors. When I read the blurb for this, I felt like I was going to get some angst that I love along with some some sweet college love.

We first meet Kelley at the age of 8, getting a glimpse into his rough home life. Then we move forward to when he is a sophomore in high school. He's already got quiet the ladies experience under his belt and his good looks are already working out in his favor at his new school. He can get just about anyone he wants. When he sees Lenora Wells for the first time, he knew she was different. Only problem was she has a boyfriend.

Lenora (Lenny) Wells has been in a relationship with her boyfriend for a while now. Circumstances has put the two of them together. Yet, she isn't completely happy. She's not fully happy with her relationship and one of her friendships seems to be changing. When she meets Kelley, she instantly feels connected to him. When Kelley makes sure to put himself in her life over and over again, can Lenny fight off his charm and stay away from him?

I could tell from the blurb that this book would be set up where they would meet and make that first connection in high school and that their second chance would be during college. I have to be honest and say that I thought most of the story would be about the second chance. However, over half of the book is them in high school and the second chance part was actually pretty short. I really wanted more of that. This is absolutely a personal preference. There are very few high school books that I can really get into and fully connect with.

With that being said, I enjoyed the writing and I pretty much swooned over Kelley and how hard he chased after Lenny. Without giving anything away, I love his protectiveness, his instincts, and his overall desire to care for those he loves.

I think that many people will enjoy this story. If you are looking for a little angst with a sweet second chance love, then this book just might be for you.

Wow what can I say about this book except I loved it!! I was hooked from the first pages till the very last one.Its an emotional read told in dual POV which I love as it adds so much more to the story hearing from both sides.
Kelley Moore has had a horrible upbringing beaten and abused by his father, loss of a brother and a mother whos ill life has dealt him the crapiest of cards. He lives for his football and hopes one day it will take him away from the dead end town hes in and start over.Lenny is the total opposite shes had a good upbringing her family manipulate her into dating a boy so her father keeps his job but when she lays eyes on Kelley she has for the very first time…butterflies he captivates her with his unusual eyes shes fallen hook line and sinker.Kelley uses girls, he sleeps with them and moves on it’s a way to deal with the internal turmoil he feels when he sees Lenny something shifts in him he cares more than he should, feels more than he should but he knows he will be moving on and hes reluctant to get involved with her, he cant help himself they do get involved but when he suddenly leaves town Lenny is heartbroken but she carries on with her life.Four years later they cross paths again at college hes sorted his life out and is a star quarterback but his own regret is the girl he left behind, Lenny.Shes not the innocent young girl he left behind hes going to have to work hard to win back her trust and love.Try as she might Lenny still has those familiar butterflies for Kelley, she still loves him but finds herself in a difficult situation and she also has a secret… can Kelley be the man she needs him to be?Can they have a second chance at love?
Loved loved this book the characters were easy to connect to and the story was heartbreaking gritty and raw in places but full of love and forgiveness in others. My heart went out to Kelley for all he had to endure Terri wrote some truly moving scenes that had me tearing up.The passion between Kelley and Lenny was hot and sexy and the ending was just as it should be.I cant wait for more from Terri.

I received this book as an ARC, as I read more books from Terri I was not surprised to enjoy this one as well!!
A beautiful story with dark edges, Kelley Moore has not have a simple live a father that drinks and is abusive, his brother that is killed in the line of duty and then to find out that your mother is terrible ill. All he wants is a better future from himself so he needs to concentrate on his studies and his football, but what happens if he meets the gorgeous Lenora (Lenny) Wells ?

Lenny is a beautiful town princess who finds out that she has to date a guy Ox, only because her father needs the good connections with his family and not only doesn't she likes this guy but is not planning to give him her v card just yet. But then her world collides with Kelley's, the one with the unusual eyes who gives her butterflies every time he's near.

After finding her best friend and her boyfriend one night at a party, her worlds shift and changes forever!! Kelley needs to run out of town after a couple of false accusations but promises to come back to Lenora.

Four years later both find themselves in the same college, but everything has changed dramatic, she's not the girl he remembers and he is the only boy who she could never forget.

Can they make amends and give their love a second chance? Or are there more secrets to reveal?

An amazing read with a lot of emotional and unpredictable plots. A definitely must read who enjoys reading new adult romance. A story which keeps you at the end of your chair till you finish it.

Where do I begin? Terri Laine is such an awesome story teller. I have so many positive things to say about Chasing Butterflies.
First, WHOA on Kelly's eyes! That's hot. Kelly went through so much tragedy in his life, and he persevered. He wasn't just a Football player, he was smart too. He didn't know how to handle his heartbreak, so he did what most teenagers do. He jumped into bed with any girl who gave him attention.
Everyone thought Kelly was trash. He had a tough life. When he meets Lenora, everything changes for him. She was strong, smart, so hot, and she didn't see him as trash. They were only together for a short time, but (Get ready to swoon ladies) they fell deeply in love. Kelly believed she was the only thing good in his life. 5 stars!! I loved this book. Lenny is the butterfly that Kelley will keep chasing! I have so many thoughts I need more people to read this so I can chat more about this book!! BUY THIS BOOK!

Kelley - stole my heart very early on in the book and specially at the end of the book ❤️ he's a hottie with Heterochromia iridium; one beautiful ocean blue eye and one bright green eye. He has to change schools often and he hasn't had the best life growing up.

Lenny - sweet, virgin, innocent girl that parents made her date someone in high school, and that someone isn't Kelley, because her dad needs to keep his parents as a client. Princess of the small town.

Sandy - the great big brother

I hope there is a another story to come about Sandy's life! I did have to read the first 2 pages a few times because I was confused. SANDY AND KELLEY are brothers. Not sisters (hahaha) or even to learn more about Kelley's new family!

I loved seeing Lenny and Kelley on a happy path those were the scenes I loved the most:
“It’s a suit and every guy here has one on.”
“But you look the best.”
His smile stole my breath. “You trying to say I look good, baby?”
“You know you look good. Now rein in your ego. More people want to come in the room.”
His deep chuckle vibrated through his chest. “You look even better in that dress. I can’t wait to get you out of it.” I slapped at his hand on my thigh. He grinned at me before planting a quick kiss on my lips.
I really enjoyed this book, I will warn that there is some heavy subject matter but the author wrote about it where I didn't need to complain.

Terri has done it again! She has you feeling so much while reading her stories. They are not to be missed!

"Chasing Butterflies" is a beautiful written story of finding the one with all the curves life throws your way. This story starts in high school and takes us through the college years. Kelley and Lenora (Lenny) each have their own life challenges to bear. He is living his life to survive and succeed throughout all his loss and heartache, while her life is being decided for her through lies and secrets. This story takes you on a twisty rollercoaster ride with all the butterflies of love, loss, second chances and surprises. I'm hoping this is the start of a series because there are some great friends who need their stories told.

This was my first book by this author and I absolutely loved it!!!!! There's so many things about this book I enjoyed I can't even begin to list it. First off Lenny was incredible, sweet & strong even when she thought she was weak. And Kelley was nothing short of amazing!!! The sparks where there from the beginning, but they had so much working against them that the odds weren't in there favor. And do to events that had nothing to do with them there life's changed, I won't give any spoilers away. I also loved the supporting characters, even Shell, lol. I can't wait to read Chance & Bries story next. I hope she writes a book about Sawyer and Ashton. I wonder where that story would lead.

I was gifted a copy of this book for a honest review and I loved it!!!!
