Griffin
After years of struggling as a single father to make ends meet, I’m finally content.
Until my son and I are barreled over by a puppy and its gorgeous owner.
The dog knocks my son down-literally-while the woman knocks me down-figuratively.
With her adorable accent and her taco-loving t-shirt, she has me reevaluating my life and wondering how content I really am.

Ava
No-strings.
Simple fun.
That's all I was looking for.
But the day I met Griffin and his son, everything changed.
My walls are starting to crumble, piece by piece, as he and his son chip away at the concrete protecting my heart.
Now I’m questioning everything I thought I wanted, and wondering if maybe, he's worth the risk.

Finalmente leí mi primer libro by Nikki Ash, yay!

I finally dived into my first Nikki Ash book, yay!

Knocked Down was such a cute read! Steamy, quick, and with just the perfect amount of angst to keep us entertained. It has a single dad, a lovely heroine, and an adorable kid, so if single-dad romances are your thing, give this one a try!

I need to know if Sean & Lilly have a book together.

Tbh there was no chemistry or bonding between the characters, from the beginning to end there was the lust and it seemed like that for the hero it was a challenge to fuck the heroine cuz she doesnt want to be with him cuz of her insecurities. There was so emotional bond, they didn’t connect. It was just sex and towards the end it got boring. I mean, the plot was really common, ( girl meets boy, boy meets girl, they want to fuck each other and they do, they confess their love even tho there was no love or chemistry between them, its just lust, the end) yeaaahhh it was “those” kind of books. I liked levi but it didnt look like the hero who is his dad really cared about him even tho he tried his best to keep his son happy. This book was just boring.

Shallow, cliché and boring with simple writing style.

The book had a simple language and it failed to make me feel. Also, I couldn't connect to the characters. The drama of the side characters were so very forced and unnecessary in a short book like this one.

Feeling disappointed and bored, I skimmed & scanned a bit to see if it would get any better and realized that the book is, in fact, closer to a novella length; hence the lack of depth or any character development.

Stopped reading it further...

P.S. The novel (or novella) is actually only 120 pages long and the rest of the book are two excerpts from other books of the writer.

Sweet & Steamy

This is a sweet and steamy, single dad and the neighbor romance. It’s quick and the angst is relatively low and realistic which makes it a more enjoyable read. Love Ava, Griffin, and the adorable Levi!

Nikki Ash isn't an author I was familiar with before reading Knocked Down. But after reading this book which I breezed through in less than a day, she's an author I have every intention of becoming more familiar with. This book was so easy to get into, and once I did I didn't want to put it down. The steam factor was off the charts.

Griffin and Ava had instant chemistry and a great connection. It made for great reading but what I loved just as much was the family element. Griffin obviously loved his son and I loved reading when he interacted with the little boy. While their past had some sadness in it, they had a great bond. Griffin also had a great relationship with his brother and sister in law. Those two play a pretty important role in the story and I definitely want to go back and read how they got together. Ava is also very close to her parents. I just loved the overall family element in this book. I really liked both main characters with their great personalities and funny taco shirts.

After reading this story I want to go out and get more Nikki Ash books. I'm sad that I didn't know about her before but I know there will be more of her stories in my future.

What a great read! I really enjoyed Knocked Down! It is a standalone romance, told in duel POV’s. It just made me feel good! It had so many ‘feels’! It was fun and flirty too!

Griffin King is a single dad to 8 year old Levi and a restaurant owner. He is a great dad and works hard. His brother Sean and his wife Lilly play a big part in his life. The success of his restaurant allows Griffin and Levi to move into a nicer apartment. He meets the very sexy Ava Milano on his first day there when her dog ‘Maverick’ runs down Levi.

Griffin is a busy restaurant owner and single dad. Ava works from home as a graphic and web designer. She creates and designs book covers and web sites. The attraction between Griffin and Ava is immediate. Their chemistry is hot! There is quite a bit of sexy time too! Griffin is such a great guy. Caring and respectful. Ava is an amazing independent woman. She is so sweet and loving. Her love of tacos is hilarious! She has a major issue with commitment because she has been cheated on twice.

There was so much to love about this book. The relationship between Ava and Levi is wonderful. They have great times together. There is so much humor and light heartedness in the story. Ava wears these t-shirts with funny sayings on them. These were my top favorites:

If you can read this shirt, I was forced to put my book down and re-enter society.

You can’t make everyone happy, you’re not a taco.

Run like there’s a taco at the finish line.

The story was a bit predictable but, who cares! I enjoyed it! It was fun, romantic and had only a touch of drama. The writing was good. I loved how Nikki Ash incorporated her love of books into the story! There are two other series by Nikki Ash; The Fighting Series and Fighting Love Series that I believe some of the secondary characters come from. I am definitely adding those to my TBR!

I dare you to read Knocked Down and not crave tacos. This author is so under rated! I just want to physically make everyone read all things Nikki Ash. This story was so much more than I what I thought it would be. I knew going in that it would be about a single dad. I didn't know there would be other matters that would touch my heart. I also didn't know I would laugh so much! This was a cute story with many life lessons. I loved the secondary characters and the fact that Nikki's other characters from her Fighting series was included. The sexual tension and chemistry had me smiling and fanning myself. It was a little short for my liking but it didn't take away from the story. I feel everything was told and tied up nicely at the end. It didn't feel rushed like most short books. This is a great hot single dad, standalone read.

After months of procrastination, I finally jumped the gun and read a Nikki Ash book and I have to say I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Griffin and his son Levi are moving into a new apartment when they meet Ava and her pet Maverick, who is such a gigantic cuddle dog, for the first time and they just knew that there was no going back. For the first time in a very long, Griffin wants someone who is more than just a date or to spend one night with.
After several failed relationships, Ava is determined to save herself from all the hurt and discover herself and be away from the baggage of failed relationships.

Ava is cute little Spanish woman who had my heart from the get-go. Sorry, Griffin! Her spontaneously breaking out into Spanish, which was my absolute favourite part and her job as a book cover and website designer/ adult part planner was perfect. Legit, I want to be her when I grow up, replacing Spanish with my dialect.

And Levi, the sweet adorable boy! Book kids are literally the best and I absolutely ADORE them and Levi was one of those and I wouldn't have minded more of him.

Overall, this is a sweet romance with the teensy bit of angst. Plus, being a single-dad romance, which is one of my absolute favourite tropes, Knocked Down definitely made the list.

4 Stars!

This book is just another example of why Nikki Ash has become one of my favorite go to authors. Her writing makes it so easy to get lost in the story and really feel what the characters are feeling.

Griffin and his son meet Ava while they are moving into their new apartment and from that first moment, they both knew that they had met someone special. She makes him want more than a fly by night for the first time in what seems like forever.

Ava is no stranger to heartbreak and after several failed relationships she is determined to never let herself get hurt again. Everything is going good with her plan until her new neighbors move in and she can no longer keep her walls up firmly enough.

As much as they want to move forward, past insecurities they stand in their way. Will they be able to find their way to their HEA or will their past forever stand in their way?

Did I mention that I love this book? And Levi brings a ton of cuteness to the story making it that much better. I highly recommend that you check out this book and while your there, check out the rest of her books too!

So I won this through a FB giveaway and this is my first book by Nikki Ash. I have a few in my kindle but haven’t had the chance to read them yet.

I really liked it. It was fun, cute, sexy.
Griffin is a single dad... and if you know me at all, you know I’m all about the single parent romances!

I wish there had been a little more of the emotional relationship. There was quite a bit of sexy time which is always nice but I would’ve liked a little more building of the emotional side of things.

I can’t wait to read more from this author!
Is there a book for Sean and Lilly? I need more of them!!

Griffin finds a lot more than a cup of sugar next door when he moves in next to the taco loving sexy as all get out Ava. Ava has twice been burned in the love department. It seems that she has a knack for picking cheaters. So she had decided that for now at least she is going to be a twenty something spinister with her dog to keep her company. Griffin has to guard not only his heart, but also that of his little man Levi, hence his love’em and leave’em policy. There was something about Ava, from the second they met that made this woman different. She clicked with him, his family, his life, his kid…. Getting her to let down her walls for him won't be easy, but with tacos and time he's sure to get the job done.

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book.

⭐️ 4 "Tacos" Stars ⭐️
Knocked Down was a light and rather short read that I was sucked in right away! Griffin and Ava’s relationship was so sweet, hilarious and sexy. I loved these two so much! They are new neighbors and have a meet cute, involving a collision between her dog and his son Levi. From there starts a friendship with underlying attraction that turns into so much more.

Ava loves to speak her mind and is obsessed with tacos. That tiny Latina woman is a riot and I laughed so much at her antics. Under all this bubbly and carefree attitude though, she hides a fear of commitment. Griffin is a very laid-back guy only trying to provide a good life for his son. They’re so opposites, but maybe that’s why they just click together. The flirty banter between this couple is never-ending. Sparks are flying in their every interaction and eventually lead to some steamy scenes. As much as I enjoyed this pair, the bonding between Ava and Levi was also truly adorable. The way the boy easily grew attached to Ava was sweet and endearing!

I was glad when I realized that this story involves cameo appearances from characters of the Fighting Series. I adore this world and all these little instants had me really happy even if the connection was somewhat very small.

Nikki Ash is a go-to author of mine for these stories where you know you’ll get a good dose of humor, emotion and sensuality. Knocked Down is exactly that and was a very pleasant read for me!

Griffin's little boy Levi was just freakin adorable in his antics, "...then it hits me Levi was playing with my products. “Ugh! ”I groan. “Do you think Levi is scarred for life?” I ask as I picture him running around his house pretending the vibrating dildos are swords." Griffin sometimes has to slow his woman's roll, "lifting up, I give his nipple a kiss and he groans. “No, don’t do that. We’ll never make it out of this bed if you do that,” he warns." I really loved this book, I loved these characters.

Interconnected standalones are my favorite type of books because of reappearances of beloved characters, and with some amazing, memorable characters, this author has quickly propelled herself to a top spot on my list of must-read authors, so I was glad to read an early copy of this book. Nikki Ash outdid herself with this one! I was laughing out loud through the entire book! And who knew Taco Tuesday was a universal thing that has infiltrated book world? I would kill to have Ava's T-shirt collection, and eight-year-old Levi with the blue “swords" was just about the most hysterical scene ever!

Ava, Griffin and Levi first meet when Ava's dog Maverick (yep, that’s a Top Gun reference) licks Levi to death in the hallway of their apartment building. At first glance, Griffin likes what he sees, but Ava has been burned twice by men so she’s adamant about not subjecting herself to that again. As they spend time together Ava comes to care a lot for both Griffin and Levi, but can she put aside her fear, or will she miss out on the possibility of a wonderful future with this amazing father and son?

This book made me laugh, made me blush, squeezed my heart and left me with a happy sigh and a great big smile at the end. I loved all these characters, but I’m pretty sure little Levi stole my heart, as well as the show. Of course the chemistry between Griffin and Ava was off the charts, but the heart and emotion, along with the sense of community, family and belonging were what really made this book phenomenal. Ava tearing down the walls of her heart and trusting Griffin was beautiful, and Griffin finding his missing piece in Ava was pure perfection.

A lot of authors add a child or pet to their books and it comes off as an honorable mention, but Ash got it just right. Levi wasn’t an afterthought or, a “Hmm, maybe I should toss a kid in here to appeal to readers.” He was an entertaining, realistic, adorably loveable, prominent main character whose addition infused life, laughter and a sweetness that took this book to the next level. Not to discount Ava and Griffin, but Levi, alone, makes this book worth reading, and I have no doubt you'll love this delightful, hilarious, steamy, poignant happily ever after.

If you have finished the Fighting Love series than this book is up next in this author's backlist. Not sure if it is not mentioned as being connected to the series because the ties are so weakly connected, or because the book just didn't end up contributing in any way to the series?? These names were mentioned in previous books but never with any real story or background. And sadly after the first 20% of this book there is still no point to any of these characters. This book was an absolute struggle. The characters and the romance had zero going on. No chemistry, no build, and nothing to show this was even the same author that put all these previous books out?!?! big DNF!!!!!

I’m a huge sucker for single dads. This one was really cute. Griffin is improving his life with his bar an Ava is a web designer/book cover artist. Ava loves Taco Tuesday’s and she has the best taco shirts. A lot of great moments include these awesome shirts. I’m new to this author and I will for sure check out her other books.

Ava has to be one of my favorite girls Nikki has ever written. She was feisty, sassy and very sexy, oh and her love for tacos definitely matches my own. I wanted to shake her up a bit and tell her get out of her own way but that eventually came. Griffin was everything single daddies are made of. Sweet, charismatic and the best dad. Who knew love was right next door. This is what Nikki Ash does best, single parent books are her specialty and she did not disappoint with this one. It was sweet, funny, included a taco loving Latina and a dream boat bar owner/ single dad trying to navigate their way to a relationship while over coming trust issues and failures along the way. There wasn’t much angst but the sex scenes were HOT!!!! I also really liked that Nikki caught us up with some of our favorite characters from the fighting series as well. I loved it. I’d definitely recommend giving this book a read people.

Single father Griffin moves into a new apartment and then he meets his new hot neighbor Ava. He thought his life was full taking care of his son, little did he know that Ava would turn everything upside down if he can convince her into giving him a chance. Wow! What an amazing story, this author certainly knows how to write an amazing romance story. Engaging story both Griffin and Ava both have trust issues and I loved how they dealt with them. So many times I laughed out loud with too many great scenes to mention. All of Ava's Taco T-shirts cracked me up. Another hit by this author whom is one to watch and follow. Highly recommend!!!

Griffin and his son Levi are moving into a new apartment when a huge dog literally knocks the boy over. When the dog's sexy owner, Ava comes into view it is Griffin's turn to be knocked over, only figuratively.

This is a simple contempary romance between a strong indepentant woman who wasnt looking for serious and a single dad read to find more than meaningless hookups. Their interactions together and with his son make this book such an enjoyable read.

There are literal LOL moments, Levi and his new "swords". Her tshirts. etc.

This was my 1st Nikki Ashbook but wont be my last. Loved the cast of secondary characters. No twist or turns but it is a simple romance, a well written romance with a host of great characters.

Oh joyful days... Another book to read... Another story to dive in and dream about the characters and their lifes.
Nikki Ash has been on my book life for a few months now and each book caged my heart. I'm serious. Beautiful stories. Her writing is simple yet powerful, super detailed and engaging with a twist...
Knocked Down is her latest release and tells the stories of Griffin and Ava.
Griffin is a single dad that balances his life between his kid and his restaurant. It's not an easy task but he managed with the help of his brother and sister in law. On a walk with his son they are run over by a dog...
Ava is a grafic and web design that really enjoy her work. She's used to work from home. Her heart was broken so she opted to close it out. But things aren't always what we wish... When she stumbled with Griffin and his son...
Oh boy... This book is great.
Amazing plot, super engaging and powerful. It's was a fast paced reading and the dual point of view knocked it down.
The interation between the characters is beautiful and intense. The fact that they were both hurt made their bond super strong.
I'm in love with them and Levi just stole my heart.
This book presented us with love, friendship, family as well as second chances and pain. Not everything is black or white... Sometimes we need to see the grey.
Oh Nikki... You. Nailed. It. Again. Great book and I want more... More...

What do I do when I suffer a bout of insomnia? I read Knocked Down. Did I go back to sleep? Hell no, I read this 5 star story in one sitting.

Griffin is raising is 8yo son as a single dad. One look at his next door neighbor and he’s knows she different. Ava has sworn off men. According to her they are all a lying bunch of cheaters. Griffin has his work cut out for him, proving her wrong.

This was a quick read but one filled with greatness. It was full packed of emotions. Highly addictive and entertaining. There was never a dull moment with a straight to the point storyline. No unnecessary details just to fill pages. Plenty of scorching hot steamy scenes. Beautifully written with an amazing storyline. Bottomline this is a must read. I can’t wait to get more from this author.

Standalone told in a dual POV with an HEA. I strongly recommend this story.

Poor Ava, they put every stereotype on this girl. She moved to America from Honduras when she was 8 and after 16 years her accent is so thick that people sometimes don’t understand what she’s saying? Doesn’t make sense but okay. Also she loves tacos and her entire identity stems from her love of tacos. Those taco t shirts she would wear were so cringe. Idk this was all weird to me, I feel like the author was trying so hard to have diversity in the book. I also didn’t like Ava and her back and forth with griffin at a point it got to be a lot to handle. And Griffin would be like “I’ll show you that I’m the man for you” and then just bangs her instead of talking through her issues. The ending felt a bit abrupt as well, it was like we had some resolution the bam epilogue time. I know it sounds like I hated this book but I really didn’t, I still found it to be entertaining.

6/10 might recommend

Griffin is a single father with a 8-year-old son. After his relationship with the mother of his son Levi, there was a time when he was a womanizer, although lately he tries to settle down. The problem is that he doesn’t feel comfortable letting a woman get close to his son.
Ava is a Latina young woman, graphic designer and lover of tacos who lives with her dog Maverick, which is all that is left of her last relationship. Ava is fed up with men, in her last 2 relationships they cheated on her so her confidence in men is nil.
The best part is that Ava and Griffin are neighbors, and when Griffin sees her,he knows he has to know her better. It helps that his son Levi is delighted playing with Maverick.
They both get carried away and have some very 🔥🔥🔥🔥 encounters (sex toys included).
But Ava’s trust issues will bring many problems to the couple.
Very very funny.

“Based on Levi’s puzzle pieces of information, I think Griffin is a manwhore, and it cements my initial instinct not to get involved with him. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. Well I’ve been fooled twice! I’m sure as hell not about to be fooled a third damn time.”

“Maybe you should have kept some of my sex toys… might help. I mean… you know, if you needed something while waiting on your next flavor.”“I don’t need a single one of those items to find pleasure, and if you were with me, you wouldn’t either.” “Maybe… but being with you comes at a price. One I can’t afford. Plus, when I use my toys, I’m always satisfied.” There’s a smile on her face but it’s not the same carefree one she was sporting earlier. Something is missing. There’s more to this and I’m going to figure out what it is. “Maybe you just haven’t found the right man, yet,” I point out and she throws her head back in laughter. “Oh, I’ve found the right man. His name is Bob and he’s capable of multiple speeds and functions. Orgasm guaranteed.” She smiles wide.
“Just say it.” I roll my eyes playfully. “Nah… I don’t need to. You coming on my tongue, on my fingers, and around my cock says it all.”

"To believe for a second, Griffin, the guy I’ve seen with not one but two stunning women, would have any reason to stay faithful, to be inclined to stick with one woman, would be ludicrous.”

“Don’t you see how jealous you got when you assumed I was on a date? Huh?” I don’t wait for her to respond. “You were jealous because you want me, just like I want you, but you’re stuck on this cheating shit, lumping me in with the little boys you were with. And yes, I say boys, because that’s what they are. A real man doesn’t cheat on a woman. He’s faithful. I’ve been with several women and I know what’s out there, and I know those boys were stupid as fuck to ever let you go. There’s nothing out there that would make me stray from you if I had you, but I can’t make you trust me, and without trust, we have nothing.”

🌮 🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮

I'm a sucker for a single dad, and I'm so glad I gave this book a chance because this single dad was awesome!

Griffin is a single dad to 8-year old Levi, who is just the sweetest little boy I've read in a long time. Griffin and Levi move into a new apartment, now that Griffin's restaurant is doing well and he's got some money. Upon moving in, Levi is literally knocked down by Maverick, the lab of his stunning neighbor, Ava Milano.

Ava - oh my god, this girl was funny. She was a graphic designer and designed book covers, and had a million different taco t-shirts. This girl seriously loved her tacos, her dog and her family, who emigrated to the US from Honduras for a better life. I pictured her as a young Selma Hayek (I know she's not from Honduras, but the figure).

Anyway, Griffin is smitten with Ava right away - as is Levi (more with the dog, but the owner too). Ava has some major trust issues, due to being cheated on and believes Griffin to be a player. Yes, he's had his share of fun, but realizes quickly he's really into Ava and only wants her.

Ava is a good character, but her insecurities got a little old after a while. Griffin was so great. So dedicated to his family (I loved his brother and his wife) and his restaurant. He was so sweet to Ava, and I just loved him.

This book was so sweet and I was bummed when it ended at 76%. There are two epilogues, and I enjoyed them both, so I was satisfied with the ending.

Overall, I very much enjoyed this story and would recommend it.

Aaawwwww. I loved this book. It has all the feels from beginning to end and will keep you engrossed in the story all the way through. I mean, what's not to be engrossed in? You have a hot, sweet, selfless, and all-in kind of man who happens to be a dad. His cute as a button, energetic, and filterless little boy; and the beautiful, smart, sweet and funny graphic designer/web designer/book cover designer/sex toy selling/dog owning neighbor who comes crashing into their lives, almost literally. Ok..well her dog does, but when Griffin and Ava meet the sparks begin to ignite, but regardless of her attraction to this man, she has to guard her heart, having been burnt twice before she refuses to let it happen to her again. But let's not forget about little Levi who is just as wonderful as any 8 year old can be. The little show stealer!

These characters are so very well written and so likeable, including the supporting characters on both sides. They are the kinds of people that you would have in your own family and as your own friends. They are all caring and supportive and are funny and quick witted. A particular discussion between Ava and her family reminded me of our own teasing with our daughters about sex. That part made me laugh because as Ava reacted to their discussion, I could hear our youngest daughter's reaction in my head. We do love teasing her!!!

This was a wonderful little read with much fun and lightheartedness, but there are a few instances that are a bit heavy as each lead character recounts their past. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it!
