Each page of this volume contains 10 lines of Greek from Xenophon's Anabasis Book 1 (E.C. Marchant's 1904 Oxford Classical Text) with all corresponding vocabulary and grammatical notes arranged below. Once readers have memorized the core vocabulary list, they will be able to read the Greek and consult all relevant vocabulary and commentary without turning a page.This volume also contains Greek-only text pages for teachers who want their students to review the Greek in class without access to vocabulary or notes.

Suffers from an abundance of typos, including many within the vocabulary on each page that seem pretty easy to fix automatically, e.g. incorrect accentuations of the lemma, incorrect definite articles, and (I think also some) incorrect genitive declensions/nominative declensions in other genders. But this is likely the easiest "first (attic) greek book" available in physical edition, as far as I’m aware, and Steadman also deserves praise for making the PDFs available for free online—although if you’re going to be reading on your computer anyways, using the online Perseus library reader for vocabulary and a superior commentary for grammar/notes may be a better way to go? I, however, wanted a physical book and am grateful that Steadman has authored such materials.

Good first book to read, when just having finished a grammar-oriënted course. I quite like the method of the book, with a core vocabulary and then vocabulary and grammar notes per page. Read the book three times. One time really ‘deciphering’, one time with less aid and one time in continuous reading without using the notes.
