Diamante's favourite book is CINDERELLA because she would like to be like the fairy godmother and turn things into other things! So she decides that she will start with her dog, Ruff and turn her into a human! And Ruff learns quickly - she learns to eat daintily, how to hold a cup and saucer and cross her legs. And as a human, Rufferella become famous for having the most wonderful singing voice, which soon brings her to the attention of the Queen who demands a royal performance. When the big night comes Rufferella just can't resist the temptation of sausages and her true nature wins out! Poor Rufferella, will this mean terrible shame - or perhaps a dog should be a dog! A wonderful and witty reinterpretation of the classic fairy-tale brought right up to date for contemporary children.
I didn't partially like this but I can see children liking it. I did like the colorful illustrations and the story itself and I can see children liking it also as it was full of imagination and adventure.
There once was a girl who loved stories and her favorite was the story of Cinderella. She would pretend to be the fairy godmother in the story as she liked to make things happen. One day as she was being the fairy godmother, she wanted to make some dramatic changes so she decided to use her dog Ruff. She decided that she would turn him into a human. Yes, her dog would become Ruff-erella, she would change the dog into a girl!
All she had to do was to teach Ruff how to be a human. Actually, it sounds impossible to me but she has it all under control and she starts Ruff out with some clothes, make-up, and begins showing Ruff how to eat like a human. She then, takes Rufferella to a party as she believes she’s ready to be seen and she’s right, everyone thinks she’s a human. Rufferella is a hit! Everyone loves her and she becomes popular, so popular the Queen invites her to her ball. Well, this story takes a twist but Rufferella doesn’t lose her shoe but she does cause quite a commotion at the ball. The ending was perfect for this story and there’s a good lesson tied to it as well.
It's a good story for children as the imagination and story are fun and entertaining. 4 stars
Rufferella creates a new twist on the classic story of Cinderella, focusing more on the fairy godmothers perspective and the pressures faced by those who are not true to themselves. While the story and illustrations are fantastic, the writing is not the easiest to read in an out-loud setting.
Despite this, I believe this book would be an excellent tool to promote class discussion or role play. Ranging from light questions such as 'What would you do if you were the fairy godmother in the story?' to deeper discussions about personal identity amd changing yourself for others.
This story is still to this day one of my family's favorite. A dog with a beautiful singing voice, a little girl who liked to play dress up and a Queen who understood the overwhelming appeal of sausages. Such a fun story and so beautifully written and illustrated. Highly recommend.
In this book, there was a dog and a little girl. She loved being the fairy godmother, and she needed something to turn into. And then she had an idea. She would turn her dog into a human. And she taught her dog how to eat and brush her hair and change her clothes and put makeup on. And then she decided she should show off at a birthday party. Her owner told her not to tell people that she is a dog. She played games, and she drank soda, and she ate cake, and she even sang happy birthday. And then everybody decided she should go on television. One day an invitation from the queen came. She invited her to her palace. And her owner signed back saying yes. And then they went to the hair stylist. Then they went to the palace, and then they were called to the dining room. Then when the queen got served Rufferella ate the sausages. And then, she wasn't famous any more. So she had to go back home, and then she had a present and it was a bowl. Then they went to the park and played fetch. I liked this book because there was a dog dressed up as a girl. -by Felicity
This book provides a cute adaptation of a Cinderella story...from a "fairy godmother's" perspective! This would be a good prompt in a class discussion, in regards to what each student or reader would do if they had the chance to play fairy godmother for a while. The writing style didn't flow as smoothly as it could have, though. If reading it aloud, make sure to read through it at least once and become familiar with how the author writes. Ages 3-8
A girl named Diamante wants to be like the fairy god mother and tries to teach her dog Ruff to be like a human to speak, be polite, and do everything humans do.
I thought this book was pretty good it was kind of boring though.
I would recommend this book it was cute, sweet, and kind of funny.
This book is very unique and cute! This little girl wants to be like the fairy god mother in Cinderella. She waves her little wand and wants to teach her dog to talk and act like a human. I think this book is silly and a fun read for little kids. I enjoyed it when I was little!
