Also: stop reading here if you haven't read the book. Mild, vague spoilers ahead.
We finally have a harem. Sort of. Between 3 dudes who love each other and find themselves a woman they all love too. I don't see how this is a harem. STILL. I'd like to have a deep discussion about this. It's not like there's a hot Australian wolf shifter, a rock solid, more-muscle-than-skin with a troubled past Dragon, and serious accented Alpha all falling head over heels over one chick with daddy issues. Nah, this is two twins and a grumpy dude who love each other and find a chick they all love. There's also a complicated plot.
I swear, this book makes me feel so stupid. I have so many questions. For awhile I thought Nial was the Lost God. I thought Kimber's storyline was AHEAD of Gwen's. (There was ONE specific line in this book that made me think that). Seeing that a certain grump and a certain Lord were siblings JUST FUCKING THREW ME IN FOR A LOOP. My predictions were all wrong.
Kimber: she's the strong female in this book. She's owning her shit. Gwen: very emotional. All over the place as she's realizing she loves Bel a lot more than she thought. Lord Otto: I knew he loved Pippin. Lord Xenon: I know he loved Otto. Lord Cato: is he hot? I wonder this a lot. Aiko: welcome, new guy, to a series of unfortunate events. Don't touch the amulets. How big is your dick?
The whole book was just surprise after surprise for me. And then the ending. Now things are making sense to me. I am catching on. There is still much to learn.
80% of this deserves 3 stars and 20% deserves 4 ....so what to rate it overall? I'm having a good streak with new releases and feeling benevolent so four it is!
Is it a coincidence that those percentages match up with 80% of this book features Kimber and only 20% Gwen? I think not. Its not a secret that I have a hard on for Bel&Gwen and Kimber unfortunately is left behind.
Though she does get a bit more of my attention due to developments in this one.
We get a lot of question from book 2 answered, and are left with even more for book 4...and it ended on *bleeping* cliffhanger again
I thought this was going to progress further than it actually did and I was a little disappointed in that. But with 6 books planned for the series the pace couldn't keep up as it was so I shouldn't be surprised really. There was a lot of confusion in our BR about S'Kir, was it on another planet, dimension...what?! But I think we settled on it being basically Themyscira (Wonder Woman's hidden Isle) and the answers did come at the end so be patient unlike me
When it kicked off at the end it really kicked off . That pesky cliffhanger and unanswered questions will annoy me until we get the next instalment
I KNEW IT!! well actually i didn’t but i knew the two stories had to tie together somehow. i have to say i did not expect the little twist at the end with niallan. book four please??
At the end of previous book, King of Gods, I thought I had it all figured out—the connection between the Earth and S'Kir, who is who and on whose side they're on—but no, first chapters of Death of Gods proved me wrong. All I could imagine while reading them were two cackling authors, whispering into my ear, "You silly, silly girl, you thought you could best us in this guessing game but we still have our secrets and we will tell you when you are ready." I know! I thought the same—they were both sounding too much Belshazzar-like. And then it clicked for me...
Two authors. Two lands. Two supernatural races.
People, I think this is a documentary, not a fantasy. I'm more than certain one of them is Overlady and the other one is Mistress. *jaw dropped*
I read this book when it came out at midnight, and I finished it about three hours later. So I'm a little sleep deprived, but it was TOTALLY worth it!
This book was a great installment to the series, and I loved seeing Gwen and Bel again! They gave me all the feels in this one, and I can't wait to see them Kimber has some interesting stuff happen to her, too. On both sides, lots of stuff happens, and lots of stuff is revealed. I am really looking forward to book four based on the ending to this book Anyway, I would love to know when book four releases, as I highly enjoyed the plot and characters in this one. My only negative thoughts
Amazing and addictive. Shades of Mac and Barron, just enough to make you love Gwen and Bel. These are hot books where lines are crossed, people coming into their own power and war waging.
Kimber and her guys, is it really filth if its love? Hmm, topic for a book club I think.
If you like your heroes bad-ass, grumpy, extremely sexual, all-powerful, etc. and yet tender and wanting to commit to 1 woman, this is the series for you!
I see why the RH world is appealing, each man can be something that the other one lacks- tenderness or consideration (to make up for the jack-ass one)
Unfortunately all books will be tame and bland after reading this series, so be warned.
OMG OMG OMG!!! Brilliantly written. I couldn't put it down. I screamed and dropped my kindle several times. This twists and turns had me in a constant state of "I can't believe this shit". Lies, betrayal, super uber secrets, sexy as hell and unbelievable intense mess with my drama. So many questions answered, but so many questions to be asked. I LOVE LOVE LOVE EVERY SINGLE WORD IN THIS BOOK. 5 stars is not enough.
This book is so much fun. Just the fantasy of the story is what keeps it so exciting. Finally the two stories come together, but not in what I expected.
Well the overlords and Gwen finally achieved what they wanted but not without loss. also showing who was responsible for her Black Widow moniker. I thought Gwen is loosing some of her badassery. She is scared more, depends more on the overlords and is all lovey dovey. I don't see her contributing and achieving much despite being clearly ambitious (as described welk in book 1). Kimber never had that to begin with so I'm not surprised she took the role of victim that needs saving. Some parts of the story went really fast (the end of Savion was near anticlimactic) whereas others dragged out too long. Reading the reviews of the next 2 books does not inspire a lot of confidence that the series improves. The first 2 books were so much stronger!

3.5 stars. I feel like, if you’ve made it this far, I don’t need to include the content warnings that I included in my other reviews of this series.
It is super misleading that the twins keep telling Kimber that she has a harem (it’s totally a ménage; everyone involved has at least 2 partners), but I’m glad that Gwen doesn’t have the harem because this way Bel doesn’t have to share. I have hated Dorian since he raped Elex, and the way he treated Kimber after she stopped him from killing Savion made it worse. I think part of the reason that I was able to enjoy this book as much as I did was that Dorian and Kimber don’t really interact a ton in this one. Of course, that brings me to the issue of Aiko. Wtf is going on here. I said in a previous review that I’m really not sure how important soul mates are in this world, and that’s true now more than ever. Also, Kimber totally didn’t come clean about him to Roran and Rilen when she was explaining her new situation, and that’s a pretty big issue: . Speaking of which, where tf was Aiko during the cave-sex scene? Is Kimber just going to drag him around with her and make him listen to her have sex with other people? Wtf.
Also, I was really confused by what was going on in S’Kir. For some reason, I had thought that the spine separated S’Kir from the human world (a physical barrier on the S’Kir side, a meta-physical barrier on the human-world side), so I thought that the vampires on the other side of the spine were Gwen’s vampires. I was so confused. I thought that maybe the timelines weren’t parallel after all and that Niallan had somehow taken over everything and changed his name to Savion. Anyway. I guess that’s my fault for skimming through the S’Kir chapters, but I hate them, so I’m not really sorry.
Now to my safe place: Gwen’s story. It’s really kind of messed up that I’m more comfortable with the murderous couple, but it is what it is. I absolutely LOVED the scene of Bel getting sick after the Other Woman stuff, but I wish I understood what the exact cause was. Did he just find the act that disgusting? It’s been hinted that Bel isn’t really druid or vampire, and we know that Bel and Gwen have a potential soul bond, so I kind of wonder whether there’s a species thing that makes cheating result in sickness after the bond strengthens. Also, Imma need Bel to hurry up and explain the motivation behind certain violent actions: .
Side note, I really like how Gwen’s relationship with Cato is developing all sneakily. I totally wouldn’t buy it if they had one heart to heart and were suddenly close, so this is wonderful.
This book was better than the first two in the series. Maybe because Kimber is forced to wake the hell up. Ugh. Can't stand her!
I'm very intrigued by Bel and Gwynnor. They're the only reason to keep reading the series. Bel....What the hell are you, delicious male specimen?!?! Lol.
Copy/Pasted from my review of book 1, Queen of Gods. Most is still applicable here:
I really went back and forth... a 2.5 rating? Or 3??
There are some things I enjoyed about the beginning of this series (this is book 1), but quite a lot that I didn't.
There seems to be two entirely separate worlds, but this fact is quite elusive. Each world has a primary female character. Sex is a casual affair in both their settings.
Gwynnor - 1000 year old vamp. Wakes up early from Rest as she becomes a candidate for the next vampire Queen on Earth. There's a council of Overlords, each having been a past king.... no females on the council though... weird, considering there is a queen AND king that rule simultaneously...although, the society is supposed to be patriarchal, lending kings more power or authority. Gwynnor has to overcome a series of challenges to become queen. Of course, there's some blood, gore, and fucked-up-ness and lots of sex in this dark, paranormal romance.
Kimber - is annoying as all hell. While Gwynnor is pretty badass, the only badassery Kimber has going for her is her skill at swordsmanship. She's pathetically naive for a nearly 100 year old druid. She becomes a prophesied heroine, "hearing" magic and supposedly, has the power to "Break" the mountainous and magical barrier in S'Kir, that separates the druids from the vampires. I wish I could just gloss over Kimber altogether. She's immature, annoying, and about as bright burnt out bulb.
I like that the characters are unique. Some have a great flavour of "danger" that's justified, and demonstrable, which I find refreshing. Too often, characters are meant to be badass, but authors fall short of making a reading FEEL that impression. Bel is Gwynnor's romantic interest, and he's deliciously dark and legitimately mysterious.
I like some of the curveballs and plot development and how the storyline isn't immediately predictable. That said, some of the "being left in the dark" moments get tedious and I considered not reading further into the series. The mystery kind of came off as clusterfucked.
I kept reading for Gwynnor's story alone. Not too shabby. Books 2 & 3 were interesting in plot development. Sex scenes get old. Same exact mood and dialogue, paired with repeated descriptive formula. Not as exciting.
Life of a reader can be difficult sometimes, especially for those prone to really falling in love with a book, series, characters, etc. My husband is able to just hop from book to book. I like to call him a book whore. I, on the other hand, get into long term relationships with books. I find an AMAZING book that just happens to be a series, SCORE! I read the first, read the second, and I’m like nom nom nom GIVE ME MORE! Only to find… Oh god… NO…. Book three isn’t out yet?!?!?! NOOOOOOOOO!!!!
This is exactly what I experienced with the Vampire Crown series by Scarlett Dawn and Katherine Rhodes. I sped through the first and I was SUUUUPER intrigued by Gwen and mildly interested in Kimber (see my review of book one, Queen of Gods, here). Immediately jumped right into the second book, King of Gods. This is where I fell in love with Kimber! Seriously. I still need to write a review of that one because I seriously love love loved it! Swoon. Buuuut I finished book two and was like, okay now let’s get into book three! I’M READY! Wait. Where is book three?! PRE-ORDER?! WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?! OH. THE. HUMANITY.
There are some moments where I was just like OMG WHAT IS HAPPENING OMG WHY ARE WE SWITCHING BACK TO KIMBER WHAT ABOUT GWEN?! As well as vice-versa moments with Kimber. This book series is so amazing. I feel like the people that drop out on book one just needed to hang in there. This is an amazing world to jump into and book one did a HUGE amount of world building. Since book one did such a good job at world building we don’t spend as much time in it on book two and three. I can’t believe more people aren’t talking about this series because it is seriously becoming one of my all-time favorites. I’m serious. YOU NEED TO READ THE BOOKS. Do it! RIGHT NOW!
Well, I am disappointed. I loved rediving in this world but... First I hated waiting 6 fucking chapters until I saw Gwen as I despise Kimber. I'd hoped she would get better in this sequel but she really just didn't. Turns out she's super special, gets all these titles and yet another male who is madly in love with her! And throughout it all, I was just unconvinced. I think she is way too weak a character to deserve any of that. And again, lots of over the top sex scenes. At this point, I just have to say that the whole "sex is power" thing is utterly ridiculous. Second, I was very confused for almost the entire book. Either I completely forgot a lot of world-building from the previous book and it was just poorly done is this one, because I felt like I'd missed huge chunks of explanation on the world and sometimes plot. So, I knocked to stars off, one for Kimber and one for the constant confusion. What did I like you might wonder? Well, I loved almost everything Gwen and Bel related except two things. The first one is the conference room fight and ensuing drama, which felt very creepy and unhealthy for a bit. The second is the surprise mention of children in the new laws which I found dishonest and dishonorable. The third is the fact that he fucking murdered Lord Pippin and that I feel like there is a lot of confirmation of my previous theory that Bel is the one who has been murdering all of Gwen's past lovers. Btw, I think Gwen got over Pippy's death way too quickly but whatever. So, I was disappointed but will still be reading the sequel.

Most komolyan, hogy tehette ezt az írónő?? Pont akkor kellett befejezni?? Please?? Thank you! Gwen viszont felüdülés volt a lelkemnek. Olyan jó volt olvasni az ő fejezeteit. Imádok őket Bel-el együtt, annyira jók egymáshoz, meg néha rosszak. Kiegészítik a másikat. Hah! Én megmondtam!!! :D Annyira jó lesz a negyedik rész, alig várom, hogy megkaparinthassam!
How is Scarlett Dawn so good? I mean, she definitely has a talent for story telling, you cannot argue with that. But I believe that the author has outdone herself writing this book. “Holy fuck. Just…holy fuck” I spend the whole time reading with my eyes opened wide, unable to fully comprehend what was actually happening. I've lost the count of time I stopped to think "OH MY GOD I did not see that coming". The story simultaneously started making more sense as we went along, and got more confusing and brought up more questions. All the twist and turns, love and deceit, and war, and blood and all the feelings! It's been days since I finished this book and I'm still reeling. It was beyond amazing. I cannot wait for more!
Gore, gore, gore, gore, gooooore...then fun in the very last part of the story. No really. Unfortunately, the most fun did happen at the very end. Oh and twist here and there, too. But those stuffs are given in every read from the author so...Anyway, I admit I feel so stupid to not connect the dots for a certain twist. I keep trying so hard to find connection between Gwen and Kimber when it turns out, that connection might not be between them. /epic face palm, i know. Or maybe these two are connected but will be explored in the next book. Another stupid moment, I don't know why, but I haven't really caught up the fact that the vampire vs druid was in s'kir and not the vampires on earth vs druids on s'kir like i initially expected. Gdi, talk about clusterfuck of fried brain cells...jfc
I'm not sure what to write in this review, as there's just so much that happens in this book, and I don't want to spoil it for people.
I think Kimber has grown the most since book 1, and is so much more confident in herself, her love life and in her abilities. We find out some surprises about her heritage, she proves just what her men mean to her, and finds some new friends which could change things.
I've always really enjoyed Gwen's scenes, and love her with Bel; but not sure how much she's really grown since book 1. I think she's still got a bit more growing up to do, especially when she's trying to deal with Bel. That being said, we find out more about Bel's past, more about what happened with her previous lovers, and of course we're left with more questions.
I'm still confused as to the worlds Kimber and Gwen are from and how they connect, but hopefully find out more in the next book.
OMFG! You guys keep hoping the ante! I am so in Love with this series. I can't even pick a favorite character. Bel and Gwen are sublime together. The raw emotion and pure laughter comes out of everything they say. What a pairing. Even the other lords make me laugh; evil things they may do but so darn funny all together. And Kimber and her harem- so hot! The ending has left me crying knowing I have to wait for the next book and I don't know if I can! So not what I was expecting. So glad I took the day off from work to read this! Please hurry with the next installment. So many surprises!!!!!
As usual I could not put this book down. The story continues rapidly for both Kimber and Gwen answering many questions and creating new ones. Ms. Dawn once again has me laughing one moment and crying the next as she proves again to be the great Character Killer Queen lol. With that in mind this is a must read that you won't want to miss. The only down side is no release date for book 4, but this might actually be good news since we are also patiently awaiting follow-up books for Ms. Dawn's two other series. Thank you Scarlett for this wonderful ride!
Oh my god I love this series! The closer we get to the end, the more spectacular it gets! You ladies rock! I don't even bother trying to pick who I enjoy reading about more anymore. Gwen and Kimber are both kickass ladies who have some seriously amazing men in their lives. I wish we could just add them all to one harem! The twists and turns come one after the other , along with the secrets, some I already guessed. I love how it's all coming together and I can't wait to see where you two take us. One of my favorites this year!
Well this series is complicated to rate, I really like the Gwen part of the story wich im guessing is the Scarllett Dawn part because of the writing (and she is one of my favorite authors) but i don t like the kimber part so in the end im not sure how much i liked this book, but it's getting interesting and the Gwen part is really funny :) so I will continue to read until the end and i'm looking foward to the next book.
Ahh I love this series! I have loved it since book one. I devour them too fast for my own good. More often than not, I find myself not liking further books in a series as much as I liked the first. That is not the case with this book. The plot twists, the character building, the world building...It is not lacking even in the third installment. If course, I could go for more steamy bits! I have so many questions and can't wait for the next installment!
I have NEVER review a book before but after reading Death of Gods I just had to. This was a great book, to be honest I think is the best of the serie. I never saw all of that coming, I couldn’t stop reading and now I can’t wait to know what happens next! Pleeeeeease don’t make us wait too long for the next one!!!!
I have read the series up to this book and I must say there are parts I really like and parts I wish were not so often. I know sex is a big thing needed in books to sell but I still think a good story sells books. The humor and the sarcastic bickering are really funny, the bad guy is a really bad guy a real sicko, the supporting cast is for the most part good.
I can Not believe i have to wait for the next freaking book!!!! Please oh please....if you two AMAZING WRITERS HAVE A HEART, you won't make me wait too long! Way to leave us on the CLIF HANGER OF ALL CLIF HANGERS! I just don't even have any words to expel my DESPERATE NEED to know what happens next!😱😵
Ahh!! Death of the Gods was Fantastic! I absolutely love these two women and their realms! This series is full of thrilling suspense and some phenomenal sex! Highly erotic doesn’t even cover it! These druids and vampires rely on sex and blood! It’s twisted and addictive, I finished this in one sitting I hope there is a next book!
I am a first time reader of these 2 authors, I was enthralled from the first of page 1 to the last line in book 3, I would recommend that you take a long weekend to immerse yourself into the fantastical world of Vampires and Druids. Readers treat yourselves !!!
This series keeps getting better. The two main characters are interesting and getting better, the ending a section with a cliff hanger to switch to the other narrator is annoying. The secondary characters are good and enhance the, particularly the mad king. There are several good plot twists. More will be revealed.
