Strong, independent, funny, and sexy as hell, all five Marquette security agents have a relentless passion for finding the truth—they just didn't expect to find love was well.
Part One Strong and silent, Ethan spends every spare minute at Marquette Security, working his fingers to the bone so that he can avoid his reality. Ever since his wife walked out on him, taking their baby girl with her, all Ethan has had is work. But when Megan walks into the office, telling him that his ex-wife is dead and his little girl has been kidnapped, Ethan’s routine is turned on its head.
Part Two Former police officer, Ian, suffered a great loss that landed him at Marquette Security, working with four other people who are now his closest friends. As much as he loves working with them, though, they’re not his partners. No one can ever be fit into that role again—at least not until Hayley, an investigative reporter, walks in the office door, looking for help with a case she’s stumbled upon in her own work.
Part Three Dean Witherspoon doesn’t plan to ever grow up. Settling down, committing, and being responsible just isn’t something he’s interested in, primarily because it only brings heartbreak. That’s why the only woman he’s committed to is his sister, Willow. At least, that is, until Quinn walks in, still mourning her sister, Mila, and believing there was a lot more to Mila’s death than the police had discovered. The investigation leads Dean into the dirty background of Chicago’s dance scene and lands both of them into a position they may not escape alive.
Part Four Willow Witherspoon is one tough lady. As the only woman working at Marquette Security and Dean’s baby sister, she is both constantly challenged and perpetually protected. The men she works with protect her because they love her—not because she needs it. She’s every bit as strong as any one of them. When Willow takes Benjamin Parson’s case, she thinks it’s going to be a simple fix—after all, it’s just a problem of a lovelorn woman who needs help figuring out what’s real and what isn’t. But when it suddenly turns into much more than that, Willow won’t have much time to figure out who wants to kill Benjamin and why.
Part Five On the night of Connor Marquette’s seventeenth birthday, his best friend, Lydia Irvine, was brutally murdered. He knows that’s why he left town, joined the military, and then started his own security and private investigation firm, but he never expected Lydia’s unsolved case to come back and haunt him the way it has been for the past six months. He knows that it’s time to go back to his hometown and solve Lydia’s case once and for all, and he’s going to need the help of an old high school friend, Whitney, to do it. Just when he thinks he’s making progress in the case, it suddenly becomes clear that everything he thought he knew about his past and the people in it couldn’t have been more wrong, and if he doesn’t act quickly enough, Whitney is going to pay the price.
Ethan Henry worked for Marquette Security. He worked all the times, and on his off time he worked on cold cases. His ex wife left him and took his daughter. He isn’t to much I wanting to have a fun with his family gone. Megan Donaghey came to his office for help one day. He didn’t want to talk to her, but Connor his boss and best friend forced him to talk to her. She had helped his ex wife leave him and take his daughter. She came to tell him that his ex wife was dead, but even worse was that someone had kidnapped his daughter Olivia. He immediately started working on finding her.
This is a good book with mystery, suspense and love. I enjoyed watching Ethan get to know Meagan and change his mind on what he thought about her. There was something in Ethan’s past that he felt so bad about and couldn’t forgive himself. Olivia was such a cute little girl. Some of the things that came out of her mouth was precious. I strongly encourage you to read the book.
Book 2 Haley Rutledge came to Marquette Security looking for someone to watch her back. Ian McDowell is assigned to her case. She is an investigative reporter and has been working on someone who as a program that can’t track him on the Internet. He has an online black market for illegal products with no way to track it back to him. Now someone is trying to kill her. She has never worked with a partner before, and isn’t excited working with Ian. Ian’s last partner he worked with was killed on the job while on a stake out with Ian feeling it was his fault.
The book was a very exciting, and I was on pins and needles at times with not knowing what was going to happen next. The love story between Ian and Haley was interesting to watch. I love this typeface book and strongly encourage you to read the book.
Book 3 Dean is given Quinn’s case where she feels her sister was murdered, but the police ruled it flu death. Connor gives Dean her case. Dean is the handsome, playboy who doesn’t seem to grow up. Quinn is a scientist with an eleven year old boy who is a genius and in high school. He is a real character that you can’t help but love. It is so funny hearing an eleven year old talk the way he does! Quinn and her sister Mila had a terrible childhood with a father that was out of control and always screaming and in your face. Quinn has done the best she could to raise her younger sister. Her sister is a dancer and the other girls are very cut throat. Once Dean starts on the case he starts believing that her sister was murdered, especially after they start investigating and Quinn and her son almost get killed in a house fire.
This is a very good book with suspense, mystery, and love. It is always fun to try to figure out who is the bad person in this type of book. I wasn’t able to figure it out until the author showed me who it was. I loved watching Dean grow up and fall in love. It is always nice to hear about the other characters I read in previous books. I strongly encourage you to read the book.
Book 4 Connor is with the team and their significant others at Ian’s when he gets a text about a case. Willow has noticed how tired he looks and offers to take the case even though it is Connor’s turn in rotation. She goes to the office and meets up with a 16 year old Eric who wants to hire her for his father. He has a pile of letters that some girl from one of his father’s classes has been sending him. They are getting darker and scarier with each one. When Eric and Willow show up at his father’s apartment, the police are there as someone had been in his apartment and left a dead rabbit in his kitchen drawer. Eric tells him that he needs Willow to help him find out who is doing that and other things to him. Willow is working on her Ph.D in the same area he teaches, but she has a different advisor.
This is another very good and exciting book. I love how Willow is so strong and how she goes about eliminating people that would want to hurt Benjamin. There are secrets from Benjamin’s past that Benjamin never knew about that hurt him and his son. Benjamin was a little weak to begin with, but I was glad to see him man up. It was a good book, and I strongly encourage you to read the book.
Book 5 I loved Connor’s story even though it was sad. All through the previous books Connor was getting notes, emails, and packages from an anonymous person about the death of his childhood friend Lydia. She had been brutally raped and murdered on the night of Connor’s 16th birthday party. Connor, Lydia and Owen had been best friends for years. They never found the killer. Connor and Owen has a falling out after her murder. When Connor graduated he left for the military and never saw his friend again as he was killed in a car accident. Connor decided to go back to his home town which was two hours away from Chicago where he lives now to see if he can find out who is tormenting him. When he gets home, he sees Whitney in a restaurant and they reconnect. She is a lawyer now. She has Connor and his partner Ian stay at her house while they are in town. She is interested in the case and starts helping Connor.
This story was even more thrilling than the others to me. Whoever is sending everything to Connor, attacks Whitney a couple of times and she almost dies. Whitney has never thought about love or marriage, and gets scared when she starts having feelings for Connor. Connor definitely has feelings for Whitney, but he knows she is scared. The two fit together so well. I loved how strong Whitney is and how much she helped Connor. It was great reading about the others on the team that I got to know in previous books. This is another great book I strongly encourage you to read. This whole series has been so good!
This was a give book series which took a while to finish. Each book was about a couple coming to that all worked for a security company. In my eating I chose a three for all of these grouped together. The first book was slow and not as interesting. Each book after did get better in the story being more interesting. Loved the last book about Connor and Whitney because their love story was really nice. The suspense of who the killer was of Lydia was awesome ending. I thought this was really the best book of the five of them. I would recommend this one for others to read for sure. Another one of the reasons I have this series a three was because there were so many spelling errors, grammar errors, and names wrong through out each book. Advice to the author would be to have the books she writes checked better for errors before publishing. Other then that the storyline s were good.
This set follows each operative of Marquette Security as each one finds love in the most unexpected places. Each story has its own particular drama and each has its own particular issues to resolve there is plenty happening to keep anyone's interest and each character is fascinating in their own way. Connors story is perhaps the most disturbing as it features a maniacal person whom he had always believed was a friend. It is definitely well worth reading with plenty of background happening as well as the romance, the only niggle is that there are several instances where names are gotten wrong. A general good read.
If you can make it through the typos and do not mind instalove, then you might enjoy this bundle.
My biggest complaints: completely wrong words were used at times, words were hyphenated incorrectly (example hear-tbeat). The author changed the name of a child. In the first book, Ethan’s daughter was named Olivia. By Connor’s epilogue, her name was Emily. Like, seriously what??
The author does have potential but I seriously recommend a big red marker.
Amazing Stories about Marquette security and the love they discovered
Marquette security is founded by Connor and some military Brothers Plus a sister of one of them made five unique dramatic stories come to life. Each stories has a unique plot that is a standalone but comes together uniquely as a box set.
Each book has a plot that twists and turns for a dramatic Flair. Highly recommended for those who like suspense mixed with their Romance.
From the very first book in the series, to the last. It had me gripped, it was compelling and thrilling, as each of their stories unfolded. Beautifully written, with lots of sexual tension, as well as drama. I would definitely recommend this series to anyone who loves a great story to go along with the erotica elements and romance.
Clara Kendrick's collections are great romances, with flavors of other genres woven in. This collection had thriller elements that made it hard to put down. Her stories are generally well written, but could use a bit more editing/ proofing. The 4 stars is because of that, otherwise I would have given 5 stars.
Trying yo compete with ayn rand? Page after Page of endless meaningless words.. babbling on snd on to what point? Talk about predictable. Each couple begins the same no matter the circumstances. It would be do slow snd predictable id put the nook down for days... omg try s new path i wont be reading any more of her books
Good read. Full of strong men and strong women. Great plots for each member of the agency and Connors story interlocking them all. Drug in many places so I did skip chapters. I do not like this writing style of giving each chapter a different characters voice.
This was a great series to read! I truly enjoyed reading each book in this series! It was full of love, romance, mystery, and intrigue! I would definitely recommend this series to read!
I really enjoyed this box set. Loved the character building, and loved that each of the five stories inter wove with each other. While there were a few typris, not nearly enough to derail from the stories .
This book is a combination of five stories about the staff at Marquette Security. Full of twists and turns, the stories concentrate on each detective as they fight for justice with great characters, exciting storylines and romance
was just ok and I admit I was bored and skipped chapters in every-book. Usually in a bundle of this size there is 1 that stands out but sadly that wasn’t the case
