Comments After watching Sailor Moon anime, she started drawing at the age of 7.
Influences when she was young: CLAMP (Card Card Captor Sakura, X), AMANO Kozue (Aira, Aqua), WATASE Yuu (Fushigi Yugi), SUGISAKI Yukiru (1001 Knights).
Got into the yuri genre through "Pretty Cure" (especially the chapter 8).
Strength: drawing close-up facial expressions and hair arrangement.
Weakness: drawing small pictures.
Among the sources used as inspiration for her work: watching movies, reading manga, doujinshi, erotica artwork targeted for male audience (like NARUKO Hanaharu's manga).
Her drawing tools: PC, Wacom Cintiq24, program ComicStudio, pencils.
This is a volume where I seriously wanted to slap multiple characters. I'm still loving them, and to a degree I can understand them, they are in high school, but it did seem there was some miscommunication or just being well...not that bright. It's also getting kind of...messy? So many characters and stuff to keep up with, i've started constantly referring to the characters on Wiki to keep them straight (Here) though I think that's more to do with me and being fairly new to manga still. You can tell them apart by looking at them.
I think it's going somewhere but with 2 manga volumes a year it's going to seem slow, that said I am in this series for the long haul. Loving this fluffy/cute/angsty Yuri/Shoujo ai!
Other thoughts...Shirapon is creepy.
This volume takes place mostly at a festival and summer school. Shirapon has a creepy keen eye on observing people...everyone...and doesn't seem to understand personal space or tact. But she can't crack Mei, so she thinks going to the festival with new friend Yuzu (met in summer school) she'll be able to get closer to Mei and figure her out. When Yuzu overhears a confession between Mei and Shirapon does that mean the end for Yuzu and Mei or will it help them get closer?
At this point you just want to scream at the characters "Just fucking do it already" and it's not to show a sex scene, but because they keep fumbling it around here. Then got the weird girl back who has a crush on Mei and now she's most of the center of attention here. The girls are silly still and don't talk to each other at all. It's getting frustrating. A 2 out of 5 only cause the art still great.
I am so shocked by how much I really like this series. Usually I don't rock with the stepsiblings-falling-in-love trope, and one of my friends who did read the series said it had a too-long running game of cat and mouse, which is another least favorite trope of mine. But somehow, around volume 3, I just fell. I can't explain it but I really like it
Yuzu is pissing. me. tf. off. Dom Mei is freakin awesome and Yuzu is just making her insecure by rejecting literally any advance Mei is making. Like now that Mei is open with her feelings and is making moves, Yuzu is too freaked out and messing everything up. Clearly Mei doesn't like it being a secret romance anymore and wants to fuck girl. I'm ready for Mei and Yuzu to be on the same goddamn page. I love Shirapon, she reminds me a lot of Hana from Fruits Basket. Like she doesn't really add anything to the plot but was a fun side character. The beginning with mom defending Mei's dead beat dad pissed me off, he's not overwhelmed or "shouldering" jack shit. He's a loser and needs to be treated like one. Also Matsuri is cooking something up and I really hope its a romantic relationship with Harumin.
Well...after an amazing volume 6 which the writing, story, and characters' actions took this series in a turn into telling a story that just wasn't "fluff", but telling a story that would leave an impact on me as the reader, emotionally...I felt this volume took a step backwards!!!
Nothing really important happens and it returned back into a "fluffy" Yuri story that is very enjoyable to read at the moment, but nothing really occurs that is going to leave a lasting impression. This was also the first volume of this series where I didn't have the urge to reread it immediately after reading it the first time.
There is also a new character introduced that seems to be very out of place in this story. It feels that Saburouta had created this character intending to use them in a completely different story that never happened...so instead of scrapping the character she decided to implant her ineffectively into this world. She's a cool character, but doesn't really work in this world.
Hoping volume 8 gets things back to where volume 6 was going!

This was a good volume. I wasn't bothered by Shirapon's introduction mostly because I enjoyed her character quite a bit. I'm fond of oddball characters with eccentric habits and I really like her design. The drama was alive and well, Matsuri was still annoying and I can't stand her, but it was still good. I wish there were scenes with the girls visiting the stalls at the summer festival because I'm a sucker for festivals, but not too bothered by it. I enjoyed seeing Mei more assertive, but Yuzu getting all flustered every time Mei made a play was confusing. This is what she wants, right? Why is she so bothered by Mei's advances? I don't know and it kind of bothered me because it seemed hypocritical. This was still a good volume, glad the series has remained entertaining for this long.
This story keeps getting better and better. I love seeing the constant slow progression of Mei's feelings finally coming out. Not too keen on this new girl though. Hands off, lady! Mei's taken. Shoo! Then of course there is poor Yuzu that keeps running away because she is scared and overwhelmed, I think, of her own feelings getting even stronger and the feelings that she is starting to see from Mei, now that things seem to be progressing. I'm all caught up now on this and the anime though so I am having withdrawls. I might end up reading the whole series over again until the new volume comes out. Still my favorite manga series, hands down. XD
I think I'm slowly losing interest in this manga... It was a fascination and the absurdity (that from the get-go the characters acted like the stepsister romance was a-okay, and not something they would be shamed in the future) that got me to continue. Now, it's the miscommunication and the same problems going over and over again in every volume that are giving me the ick. It's also the MC that keeps saying they need to convey their feelings, yet there's ALWAYS something that stops them from doing so. I rated the series 2 stars from the first volume, and I feel like I'll stay behind that initial decision.
I did not like the addition of Shirapon, but we’ll see. More importantly, I hate the lack of proper communication between our two MC’s. Annoying tropes aside, Mei and Yuzu are great characters and watching them interact is adorable, even if they are incredibly confused most of the time and that leads to overdone miscommunication. Watching them be flustered and getting more bold with each volume is worth the read alone.
This volume was better than the last. It looks like Mei is getting interested in Yuzu's feelings and she's showing hers. But even so Mei is still so serious and sometimes rude person, let's see if at the end of the story her character gets better, cause I think she acts thats way because she can't show her relationship with Yuzu.
Things get steamier as Mei realizes she's hopelessly in love to Yuzu.....even kisses aren't enough anymore! But things get complicated when Yuzu has to take summer school and runs into a 3rd year delinquent who is shy and a bit of a weirdo but also has a crush on Mei! A new rivalry develops! But Yuzu wants to be friends with her new senpai but still love Mei. It's about to get MESSY!
This volume added a new character that didn't interest me in the least. I think there is a suit in the mangaka's chain of command that is insisting that the story be stretched out so they can make more money. Fortunately, I have only one more volume to plow through.
Oh, and I read the paperback, not the Kindle version!
I still enjoy reading GL mangas and especially this one is one of my favourites. I love seeing where the relationship is going and how they manage their problems. It's a cute Story and I would recommend it!
