She’s with the wrong man. He’s the one to show her the way out. Having freedom means nothing if you don’t know what to do with it.
Kaylee has a child with Max her long term partner. He’s controlling and doesn’t want her to do anything but be the dotting house wife. Kaylee needs to get out her relationship is toxic. She gets a job behind Max’s back. This single act is the start of the domino effect which changes everything.
This is a two part story ending on a cliffhanger. Luckily I have the second book (paperback read). This was an interesting read and Kaylee is a strong character. I enjoyed this story. 4.5 stars out of 5.

I was quickly hooked in the story from the beginning. This was a beautiful, heart breaking/ warming read. It was a bit a whirlwind read and journey we are taken with the characters. Kaylee hasn't had the best of luck in relationships and this story I think will and hope will the start of her getting back on her feet. ( it does have a cliffhanger ending but I had book 2 ready to start straightaway). The author I think deals well with tough issues such as Domestic violence. However I think it's written beautifully and my heart would break for Kaylee at parts. I really enjoyed this one and I'm going straight onto book 2 :-)

Fractured Lies is one of two books and the first book does end on a cliffhanger.
Oh wow! I was absolutely glued to this book and didn't want to put it down so much so after finishing Fractured lies I dove straight into the next book and downloaded the series also available in KU.
I was not disappointed and loved Ty and Kay. The first book focuses on Kay and her abusive relationship and how she breaks free and finds herself working at a security firm and feeling protected by all the guys and her relationship with TY who owns the firm develops.
The second book focuses on the guys tracking down a sex ring and missing girls. It's all very exciting and full of suspense.
This is one series I can see myself getting addicted to, I loved the guys at the security firm, including Kitty who is like one of the guys.
You have to be joking me. I waited until 97% of the book to get to the juicy stuff I was waiting to sink my teeth into and then BAM. DONE. That’s right. D. O. N.E. Freaking cliffhangers do my head in.
Ok rant done.
Was a good book. Some parts moved a little to slow for me. But all in all was a book I didn’t like to have to put down and I will be reading the next one.
Hey....wait...what???? Oh Miss Davis you can't leave us hanging like that....I need to know. This book sucks you in and leaves you wanting....needing to get to know the characters more
2.5* I really didn't like the main female character. I couldn't connect with her, she was in a bad situation but I didn't feel that level of empathy for her. And then there's the times that were totally not in sync with her character.
And let's not get started on the ending.... like seriously? !?!
Oh wow! I was absolutely glued to this book and didn't want to put it down. I'm also kicking myself for not reading it was a cliffhanger but going to jump straight into book 2, so all good.
This is one series I can see myself getting addicted to, I loved the guys at the security firm, including Kitty who is like one of the guys.
Fractured Lies is about Kaylee and is told in her pov.
Kailee was pregnant at a young age and her partner stayed with her instead of going to college and following his dreams. Following the birth of her son Kaylee's life changed not only was she a young mother but now in an abusive controlling relationship with no help and all alone hiding her bruises from her only friend and an elderly neighbour.
Kailee has a brother but hasn't seen him for years, his job is top secret and Kaylee gets an occasional call.
On one of her calls, Kaylee's brother not knowing about her abusive relationship persuades her to look for a job now her son is in school, get out of the house, meet people. Kaylee's brother tells Kaylee to see his friends at a security firm and they would give her a job. This is a turning point for Kaylee who hasn't been allowed to socialise and after the getting the job she begins to go to it in secret from her partner after her school run.
Lies to protect herself.
There's instant connection with TY who runs the security firm and Kaylee begins to feel safe around them all at the firm as the story progresses. Kaylee lies about her bruises until she has no option to come clean after a near-fatal incident with her drunken abusive partner.
I loved the plot with its danger, angst and intense moments.
I felt like screaming when it finished with a cliffhanger, Ty and Kaylee were just getting there and I'm completely invested in their relationship at this point.
Fractured Lies wasn't as hot as I like, there are no descriptive sex scenes but it may get there in the next book.
Available in KU. Told in the first person. Part of a series. Addictive.
This is a new author to me so it surprised me how captivated I was from the very first chapter till I closed this book at the last page, normally it takes me a while to get used to a writing style.
As a brand new author in the indie world Abigail Davies has not only created a series that overtakes your whole life but she has written a story that is both heart breaking and scary but she also writes a haunting portrayal of a very sensitive subject.
This book is about a young mother in a domestically abusive relationship.
In this book we meet Kaylee who as a young woman in an abusive relationship still came across as strong willed person and was such a loveable character. Then we meet Ty who on the outside seems like a bear of a man but who shows his true colours as the book progresses.
All secondary characters were so well developed that I felt I knew them and was part of this big misfit family.
From page one I became invested in each character which is a true testament to the writing style and detail of the author. I laughed. I cried. I shook my head and fist at my kindle. I spent my whole time reading tied up in knots never knowing what was going to happen with each chapter. With a lot of books I can figure out the ending and I thought I had done the same with this book but Davies knocked me sideways with a bloody cliff hanger I wasn’t expecting.
I was so surprised that a debut book by a new author was so gripping and didn’t slow down once.

Kay and Ty are characters that will stick with you!
The story is told from the perspective of Kay, a young woman, mother of a little boy, who is married to a very very violent man. It's the story of their abusive relationship in a side and how she slowly realizes what's happening to her and tries to scape. In another side we have a team which is compounded by Kay's coworkers, lead by Ty, and they are private security members who are fighting to catch the responsible for young ladies' disappearance. Trigger warnings: Physical and verbal abuse may or may notGaslighting.
I did not see the ending for book one coming, I'm a bit shocked, thankfully I have the book two, and this time it's written in Dual Perspective I get why the author conveys the Hero's character being a bit mysterious from a reader's point of view, for that shocking ending.
And I decided that I will my leave my full review on the last book. To wrap it up and gather all my thoughts for the whole series.
Some books you read, some books you enjoy. But some books just eat you up, heart and soul .
This was one of those for me! The story forms around a young mum (Kaylee) and her son (Eli) it deals with the heart wrenching subject of domestic abuse but the author has written it so delicately and so raw of emotion that it will pull you in. 'Fractured Lies' had me laughing, crying and fanning myself. I love the beautiful people we get to meet along the way as she tries breaking away from her poisonous relationship with her boyfriend (Max) especially Ty and Evan. Ty is the perfect amount of protective and sexy and I just can't wait for Evan, Luke, Kitty and Corey's stories. I will be keeping an eye out for this author, I had to double check it was a debut novel and I look forward to reading more from her!
Okay, I hate cliffhangers and this book has one, but it was a damn good ending that I never saw coming...Now I need book two, desperately!
This book contains violence that readers may find heartwrenching, but it's written with heart and delicacy. It was an AMAZING debut from this author and the suspense is a killer.
I loved that the story flowed so easily, I loved all the characters...except Max. You'll understand why when you read it. But they all have different personalities and it's amazing to read them about them all.
Everything is well described, the first page draws you in and I guarantee you'll be hooked!
I would have read this book in one sitting if real life had allowed. This may be my first time reading a full-length novel by Abigail Davies but it certainly won’t be the last. I was almost instantly hooked and then I didn’t want to put my Kindle down. In fact, after that ending, there is no way I can stop after this first book in the series. That unexpected cliffhanger of an ending had me downloading the next book before I started writing this review.
When I first looked to read this author’s work, I was going to start with one of her mafia reads. However, I have a ‘thing’ for a good military/security story and Fractured Lies definitely ticked all my boxes. There are some scenes within this story that readers with triggers need to be aware of. Learning what our heroine Kaylee goes through broke my heart. There may have been some upsetting moments yet I do feel that the author has penned Kay’s story with consideration and care. I believe we are witnessing only the start of her journey and I’d be very surprised if it doesn’t continue in the next book.
I’ve already mentioned boxes being ticked well that’s mainly thanks to Ty. You’ll understand what I mean when you meet him!
An excellent storyline supported by an incredible cast of characters. I highly recommend Fractured Lies to you to read.
Kay was in a happy relationship but that all changed the day she told him she was pregnant, just making each day at a time without getting hurt and looking after Eli is how she lives. When Kay’s brother suggests a job for her, when Max says no, Kay agrees then decides to take the job and not tell him knowing there will be consequences if he finds out. When Max finds out about her job, and Kay leaves broken, not only her body but her mind and Ty takes her to his house. Kay starts to realise that she wants to tell Ty about what happened but doesn’t know how. Ty telling her she’s perfect and he will show her how she should be treated, Kay starts to wonder. Ty helps Kay rebuild her confidence and that although she couldn’t change what had happened that she can stop it controlling her life. Deciding that it’s time to let Ty know about her nightmares, after she tells him he promises her she’s safe and that she’s his he felt the connection from when they first met. You see how much Ty cares for Kay and helps her become a secure independent woman again through his love and showing her how she should be treated. Everything seems to be going well until they are on there mission and Kay is told something she didn’t want to hear.
This is not a book about lies and deceit. the insistence on lying in the description almost made me miss a good book. The point is that the main character feels very guilty for lying and confesses to the reader repeatedly. In fact, it is the story of a woman abused by her husband, victim of domestic violence, who lives in stress and fear and constantly diminishes herself by accepting what her husband say. She is broken and finds all kinds of excuses to justify him. She is convinced that she is wrong. When her son starts school, she finds herself destitute and decides, at the insistence of her neighbor, to go to work outside during school hours. Shame makes her hide from her employer what she is experiencing at home and that her husband is not aware that she has taken the job. This is the big lie. That said, the story is well constructed, we feel the distress of the main character and the evolution of the story is logical. The story makes us empathetic and we really want to know what's going to happen and we wholeheartedly wish the husband to eat a nasty volley! Don't be fooled by the description if, like me, you don't like lies and deception. I would never have liked a character who indulges in it and I really liked Kay ...

I jumped right into this book and couldn't put it down. I had meant to read this series ages ago but Blog work and life got in the way. One of the things I said to myself in the last few months was that I was going to read more books for me! Fractured Lies was the first of these books and boy did it not let me know.
Kaylee is someone who is really down on her look and when she thinks life is starting to get better, Bam it knocks her down again. I loved that she developed along with the story and by the end she was totally different. Ky was one hot alpha male mystery man, but yet he was sweet, kind and understanding.
I love a good secondary character and this book had some kick ass ones that I loved getting to know and look forward to hearing their stories.
This overall was a hard to take story at times but also full of sweetness and I was blown away but the cliffhanger at the end....
WHAT!! Seriously this book has left me with a book hangover,i devoured this in one go as this story was captivating and held me spell bound with how this was all unfolding.
This story was heartbreaking but also uplifting in how Kaylee went out to get herself a job and met four people that was going to be more than just work colleagues. This was a harrowing story of domestic abuse that will have you routing for Kaylee through out this story. This was well written and the author deal very well with these tough issues,it was a gripping story.
I love all the guys at the security firm that Kaylee works for plus Kitty who is the only girl, the banter between these had me laughing in places,as you need this after reading about all the abuse. I was totally unprepared for the ending even though i knew there was going to be a cliffhanger, but DAMN that last line had me shouting at my kindle. What a fantastic book this was i now need to download the next book.Five Huge Stars.
Kay got pregnant at 18 and stayed with the father, Max – a big mistake. He's a drunk and abusive and Kay's life is getting worse, bit by bit. She blames herself for not being good enough and for making foolish mistakes – it is, she thinks, her own fault. But with her son, Eli, starting pre-school she gets a job as a secretary at MAC Security (the usual collection of heroic men, deadly women and a computer nerd). She doesn't tell Max but it is only a matter of time before he finds out. When he does he tries to kill her and very nearly succeeds. Lucky for her she's got the boss at MAC Securities, Ty, to tend to her wounds, provide accommodation, calm her nightmares about Max and perhaps, in time, more. It's all pretty bare bones stuff and I won't read any further books in the series. “Fractured Lies” needs a tighter edit and the cliffhanger ending is dreadful. 2.5 Stars, brought down to 2 Stars.
Fractured Lies is an emotionally charged, absolutely gripping story. There is romance, but more than that, this is the one woman's journey from domestic violence victim to learning bit by bit to take control of her life. So much of Kaylee's story is incredibly heartbreaking as the author takes us through the fear, shame, guilt, issues with self-worth, and finally, the hope for a better life as Kaylee learns to depend on a group of people that are more like family than co-workers. I couldn't help but fall a little for Tyson. He's an alpha male with a heart of gold. The book does end with a cliffy and it's a doozy - a gasp and I can't believe it's ending there kind of doozy, but the whole thing is a completely compelling read that is impossible to put down.
This book is tear your heart out good!! A realistic portrayal of abuse and the struggle to get out. Kaylee is trapped in an abusive situation with Max and is forbidden to work. When her son Eli starts Kindergarten she doesn't have anything to do so she goes behind his back and gets a job at MAC Security. Tyson is the head of MAC Security and he's a sexy brooding man. They slowly start noticing each other more through work and as things get worse at home, work and Ty look better and better. Abigail portrays all of this with such incredible tender realness it will take your breath away. This is the first of two books about Kaylee and Ty and ends with a cliffhanger, luckily for you the second book is already out!!
This book! This book had my feelings scattered from the very beginning. I couldn't put it down. I'm a mother so this book really touched my heart. It had my frowning, laughing, smiling, my stomach falling to the floor, teary eyed and finally in love!! The ending gutted me and I could almost feel the betrayal and pain that Kay was going to feel. I could feel her emotions throughout the entire book. And Tyson! Oh, Tyson! Then you have Luke, Evan, Kitty and move importantly, Eli! I'm in love with these characters! I don't know why it took me so long to read it!! Definitely a must read and I can't wait to read Exposed!!
Wow! I don’t even know what to say about Fractured Lies. This book is the first in the MAC Security series and I can already tell you that I’ll be reading them all! There is a little romance, a whole lot of angst and FANTASTIC secondary characters.
This book tells the story of Kaylee and Tyson. Kaylee has been trapped in an abusive relationship since falling pregnant with her sweet son Eli. Desperate for a little independence, Kaylee gets a job at MAC Security behind her boyfriend’s back. Doing this leads to a tidal wave of growth and a budding romance with her boss.
I loved Kaylee’s spirit and how working with the gang really helps her discover who she wants to be. I’m still on the fence about Ty but I can’t wait to see what happens between them in book 2
What an addictive read and a great big cliff-hanger in the last line. I think it's given me a book hangover. This is my first read from this author, but I really suspect it won't be my last. It is an intense read of domestic violence and you feel devastated and so much sympathy for Kay and I surprised myself how angry i feel towards her aggressor. However, you are willing her with every part of your being to get away, and she does. She finds her safe place with the Mac Security team but you know that life always throws a curve ball, and this one comes with an absolute clunker in the last line. Book 2 coming to me asap .
Wow! This book had me on the edge of my seat and I could not put it down. This author is new to me and I can't wait to catch up on the rest of this series! Abigail has found herself in a situation that she keeps hoping will get better but instead gets worse. In amongst this she is hiding a full time job, blaming herself for the 'stress' at home. The moment she meets Tyson, there is a connection but is she strong enough to leave the situation that us causing her harm? I need to read Book Two!!
I really contemplated giving this book 3 stars, because the grammatical errors were astounding. I honestly could not wrap my head around the fact that the book was published with so many blatant errors.
Nevertheless, I enjoyed the story. The cliffhanger—I definitely did not see that coming. I knew there was going to be a cliffhanger, I assumed it was going to do with Max or the case—boy, was I wrong! Yikes!!! I am bracing myself for Kay’s reaction.
Cliff hanger alert! But man, what a ride it is getting there. Fab characters, brilliant storyline, thoroughly captivating. Loved every second of it. Few minor typos that made my skin shiver a bit and I didn't really understand exactly what it is MAC do, they just seem to drive around following people! Can not wait to get stuck into book 2, even though I've got more pressing things to do... But they can do definitely wait until I've finished my mission!
Kaylee and her son Eli are in tough situation. They are living with an abusive guy named Max. I had a hard time connecting to her character at first. She seemed weak and just dealing with her situation. Once she took control and tried to find a different path is where the story turned for me. I enjoyed her new work family especially Ty and Evan. The ending left you wanting to find out how the story plays out.
I don't know how best to say how much I loved this book! Kay is a fabulous lead and the Mac Security gang are just amazing - I'm glad I don't have to pick a favourite.
Difficult and upsetting issues are dealt with sensitively and the book has plenty of uplifting moments to balance the story out.
