I'm not into biker-type stories and I don't know what possessed me to read this one, but it wasn't bad.

Logan & Beth have known each other since they were kids. Beth had a major crush on him, and when she was 18, he finally noticed her and they hooked up but had to keep it secret from her father & the guys in the club. They were both in love but Logan called it quits without ever giving her a reason. 10 years go by and Beth is now living in London with her boyfriend of two years. Things are not that great with them, and when her father calls her home, he is not happy & doesn't want her to go but she does anyway and finds that she needs to avoid Logan at all costs because while she is still angry & hurt by him, she is also still in love with him.

On one of the days that she finally runs into him, she sees him with a blond hottie on back of his bike & making out. (Apparently having chicks riding in back of a biker is seen as a sign that bikers have claimed the woman as either a partner/wife or someone they are sleeping with). She is hurt by this and runs away without him seeing her. So while heroine is in town for two weeks, it is more then a week before Hero & she finally meet - and it wasn't until she got hurt & had to be hospitalized that Hero FINALLY shows his face!

And this is where I lost interest because even though they are suppose to be each other's soulmate, they are both with other people. She in a committed two year relationship and he with another woman of six months who he is having "fun" with. While heroine never cheats on her boyfriend (she breaks it off before she hooks up with Hero), with him we are never told if he sleeps with the OW again or if he broke it off. The OW is mentioned a time or two but very briefly and never seen. (He makes her seem unimportant). That didn't jive for me based on what heroine said about the bikers and the makeout scene of his.....

Anyhooo.... What I loved most about this story is that this was the first heroine that I have come across in a long time that stuck to her guns! Hero had hurt her in the past and she was adamant not to let him into her life again & not easily forgive him. It took about 85-90% in the book for her to hear his lame excuse of explanation and even then she didn't give in immediately! She constantly let him know how much he hurt her. Now some reviewers criticized that about the heroine but for me, it felt real because when someone hurts you, your trust is broken and you are not so willing to forgive. Hero really had to work for it! (Yeepee!)

I have to say that once the Hero saw her, he was all "in", but what pissed me off is that he said that he never "forgot" or stopped loving her, yet after he was "cleared" of the reason why he initially walked away from her, he never once in the 10 years came to find her or reached out to her at all. His reasons were noble I guess but it sounded very lame to me. Heroine was cool to point that out to him (you-go sister!!). And what really pissed me of about him is that she had been in town a couple of days and he KNEW that she was avoiding him but he never tried to find her at all because he was too busy shagging the OW! It took a life-death scenario for him to finally go see her & to make him realize that he missed & loved her! Give me a break!!

So while it was an okay read for those of you that like biker-type stories, what really peeked my interest to finish it was the heroine who wouldn't accept his lame shit excuses. I am so tired of heroines these days that forgive douchbag Heros immediately and never make them work for it. This one had me clapping & routing for her!

I can’t even find the words to describe this amazing book!! I have to be honest I’ve never been a huge fan of MC books but I definitely will be reading more now after reading Snared Rider.

Beth is a total bad ass who grew up in the MC world. She left her hometown ten years ago with no intention of ever going back.

This isn’t your typical love story. It’s so much more and I absolutely can’t wait to see what Jessica has for us next!!💗

Somehow in my vast sea of romance reading (which 90% I haven’t even bothered to add to GR’s) this book ended up being my first in the biker club sub-genre. I have no idea why I haven’t read any of them sooner but I am definitely going to have to rectify that if this is what I've been missing.

So, this was a great story with some really lovable characters and some wonderful friendships! I’ve always enjoyed the side friendship stories in romance novels, not only do I think they’re great for showing what kind of characters the main love interests are but it’s also a nice balance against the hot and heavy attraction story lines.

Bethany (love this name- would have been my daughter’s name if I hadn’t of fallen in love with a different one) returns home to Kensington for a visit and while trying to avoid her ex-boyfriend Logan (whom she has avoided for a decade) manages to get into some trouble that her best friend Dean, stirs up. This of course, gets her on the need someone to make sure you don’t get hurt list, and thanks to her dad, cue Logan, for protection and all the pent-up feelings that Beth is trying to avoid.

What follows thereafter is a tough but much needed confrontation for Beth, and her feelings, interspersed with some incredibly tense action and a showdown with a grudge holding asshole- I have to admit this kind of stuff is really my favorite part of these type of romances and more why I read them than even the 'romance' part, and if there is anything this author excelled at it was writing downright tense as hell confrontations that made me worry for the characters. I am a fan.

Beth and Logan were a great pair and I enjoyed both characters and felt like they really had some past and he was worthy of her, and vice versa. I loved how caring and attentive Logan could be towards Beth and others he cared for, while not losing that you really don’t want to mess with him persona. And Beth was all those things you want in a lead, caring and tough enough to have grown up in a biker environment while also feeling like a lady we could all relate to.
Also, the surrounding family and friends, were a lot of fun and added a close-knit feel to the club and I am excited to see any follow-up stories that might spring out of these characters- especially Mackenzie.

*So, the Tldr- Strong characters and writing, combined with a promising world that is easily opened up for follow-up stories with supporting characters that I really want to see explored made this an awesome debut! Can’t wait to see more from this author.

*Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read an ARC of this story.

Debut?? Really. I find it hard to believe. I love MC books and this is one of my favourites. I can't wait to read more from this new author.

I never wanted to put the book now. Hell I stayed up most of the night Tuesday night just to read it. I kept telling myself 1 more chapter then I'll go to sleep then it was left on a good part and I just had to keep reading to find out what happened next.

Beth got her heart broken by the love of her life so she left town years later she's back and trying everything she can to stay away from him. Logan is the SAA for the club.

Will she forgive him? Will they move on? Will they get back together? You will have to go read this amazing book to find out.

I so can't wait for book 2. I need it now.

Beth and Logan

This is the first book in the Lost Saxons MC series which is a second chance romance that gave me angst, suspense and plenty of twists and turns to make this a book that was hard to put down. After leaving ten years ago Beth comes back home and is afraid of running into Logan. There is history to these two that have you wondering what the heck happened. With Beth’s SO there is so much going on and none of it good.

Like all of Jessica Ames’ books this is a page turner with so much goodness in between with plenty going on to keep you hooked until the very end.

Let's start off by saying that this is a new author for us and we enjoyed our first read by them and we really loved the book cover as it was Hot!

I have to say that I have mixed feeling about this story as I really liked the characters and the plot itself as It had just enough suspense and drama for it to be a good read.My problem with the story is this , Beth became to annoying with her hatred and drawn out feud she had with Logan over dumping her 10 years ago.She went on and on with sniping at him and we are already 63% of the story before they hashed out things between them and why he dumped her in the first place.Thank god for the other characters as they were engaging and funny and interesting and broke up that monotony.

Logan-“I’m getting a little tired of this avoidance game, love.”

I really loved Logan though as he kept taking Beth's crap for sometime before he blew.I have to be impressed with Logan's patience because he lasted way longer than I would have . LOL I found him to be protective, patient, had a sense of humor, loyal, dangerous had a sensitive side to him but, most of all I loved how he wore his heart on his sleeve when I came to Beth.I loved the fact that he loved her and only her after all these years even after letting her go all those years ago.

Beth's secret thoughts of Logan

"He’s perfect. He’s so beautiful with those long eyelashes and rugged good looks. Like all the Harlow men, Logan inherited a strong jawline, and he has webbed laughter lines around his eyes."

"This is probably why the Club made him Sergeant at Arms . He’s intimidating . He’s also beautiful and everything below my naval tingles as I stare at him."

I really loved Dean he made me laugh time and time again.

I really liked Beth once she got her crap together.I liked that she was finally standing up for herself when It came to her life choices.I have to say that Beth's character was a bit of a mystery to me and the fact the women she had become so different from the women she once was to the point she did a 180 turn around when it came to he life.I realize her career choice had something to do with it and also Logan's betrayal but, not to the point she basically left all those who were important to her and her club life behind without a second thought and its not like she hated the life as she planned to live that life with Logan before he broke her heart.I am wondering if there is more of a story there? Hum.....It was almost like she became one of those Stepford wives .lol

I have to say we like the new improve Beth and that once she was her old shelf again she made the perfect Old Lady for Logan and they were just perfect for one another as beneath all the hate and hurt Beth never let go of her love for Logan either.Soul Mates perhaps?I also will say that Beth impressed me with the fact that she was taking all these horrible mishaps to her in stride without complaint perhaps we were seeing the old Beth reemerge before our eyes and wake up call some would say.

Some favorite quotes

"The bonds of family are fluid in the Lost Saxons’ world. Brotherhood is the foundation of the Club, so because Dean is Club, as am I, that makes us family."

Overall I enjoyed the characters and the story itself, I just wished it didn't take so long for things to start heating up because once it did things heated up fast and kept us engrossed in the pages to the very end.

I really enjoyed getting to know the new characters in this new MC series as most of them were a lot of fun to connect with.I would definitely continue reading the series as I can't wait to see what's to come.

A personal note: Without realizing what I was doing I read this series out of order and in my opinion for those new to the series and just starting the books should be read in order and that is because Dean's troubles started in book one but lasted all the way to the end of book 2 and you have more of an understanding of what going on with the club drama.

4 stars from us

You won't believe this is a debut.

Jessica Ames has skills. The characters in Snared Rider are amazing! The story keeps you on the edge of your seat. This is a motorcycle romance with a club you would swear is real. This could also be listed as second chance romance because Beth and Logan have been together before and it ended badly. Once you understand the reasons, it's hard not to ache for the decision Logan made. You'll understand, love him for it, but also want to smack him upside the head a little too.

The Club is full of rich personalities, every one of which manages to feel completely real and lovable.

Read this book. You'll be glad you did.

3.5 stars. Most upsetting is that the book description is a bit misleading. Makes it seem like he's taking her somewhere to keep her safe and they spend a lot of time together and that's not really what happens. The flashbacks were sorta helpful, but not enough to show how hard they fell for each other, IMO. The reasons for the breakup and how they were able to avoid each other for 10 years were pretty flimsy. Her constantly wanting to know the why and then the next second not wanting to know was a little annoying. My last quibble was just that this MC seemed totally inept, which was a bummer by the end.

Hope fear, survival

The most amazing adventure! It grabs you from the first word and keeps you guessing, hoping, wondering what will happen next. Full of hot sexy bikers, a beautiful heart broken woman, an evil psycho, and family. You won’t catch your breath until the very end! There is drama, danger, suspense, betrayal, and action. You root with them fear for them and bite your nails as they endure torture and pain! Hang on for a full throttle ride!

A good start to the series

The story starts off slow because of all the setup going on . This is a second chance romance . Beth goes home to visit her family and the Mc she grew up in . She’s been avoiding Logan for a decade since he broke her heart . I liked these two and I liked that Logan was determined to make her his again and never waivered .

One of the best MC novels set in England. Well-written with awesome characters. I loved Beth and Logan. And when they finally got together their chemistry was off the charts hot! An amazing debut novel and I'm so excited for the rest of the series.

I haven’t read an MC romance before, but if they’re all as good as this, I’ll be reading plenty more! I loved the voices of the characters, the tangible chemistry between the two, but most of all I loved the setting. Some English based books Americanise their surroundings: Jessica Ames doesn’t. It’s a gritty English town with closed down collieries and a high street with more empty shops than tenanted ones. It’s left me longing for more time with these in depth and three dimensional characters.

Sometimes visiting family is dangerous …

First story in the Lost Saxons MC series and the first story I have read by Jessica Ames.

— If you have not read this story, the following may contain spoilers —

⛔️ There are a couple of potential triggers for sensitive readers, such as adult language, steamy intimate scenes with elements of BDSM dominance, submission, etc., mental health challenges of depression, anxiety, etc., and violence stereotypical of the outlaw MC genre such as kidnapping, torture, fighting, threats, assault, murder / death, domestic violence abuse including rape, etc.

This has an interesting storyline, but it could be a better read. It provides ‘flashbacks’ of things that happened previously between Beth and Logan. In my opinion, it would have been better if it was written in chronological order. That way, additional info, milestones along the way, etc. could have been included without so much repetition.

While trying to convey how heartbroken Beth is by Logan’s actions Jessica Ames also has them rehash the past quite a few times. This was on the verge of making Beth seem immature. Reorganizing into a more organized and cohesive timeline would undoubtably assist with this as well.

Otherwise, the story universe and characters are solid and set a solid foundation for the series to build upon.

I mention the following for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read. There are a couple of grammatical issues involving incorrect punctuation (commas). I didn’t mention them all, just the most obvious ones that really cause me to disengage with the story.

This is set in England and uses British spellings, but for some reason there are measurements in standard and not metric (i.e. miles iso kilometers). There is also one other inconsistency in regards to Beth’s beverage of choice (I.e. tea iso coffee). It wouldn’t be an issue except it was stressed how much she doesn’t like tea and drinks coffee. I uploaded my notes to goodreads for anyone interested.

MMC/FMC- Logan and Beth
POV- 1st person
Genre- MC Romance
Heat- 🌋🌋🌋☄️ (1🌋=2☄️). They do the things in the past and present, and use the P word while naming parts.
Series? Y
Safety? Y. Spoiler: she’s single whenever they have zexytime.
Triggers- Explicit erotic content, language, blood, very graphic violence, serious violence against women (by bad guys only).
Tropes- First Love, Second Chance; Enemies to Lovers; Lock it Down; Masshole Ex; Breakfast at Epiphany’s.
What I liked- I am a sucker for First Love, Second Chance romance, and this one is really good. I liked the flashbacks; they illuminated the past much better than an expository explanation. The supporting MC characters were definitely likable and certainly… characters. And there was action, zexytime, and romance that kept me entertained. Logan is my latest Book Boyfriend. I absolutely swooned.
What I didn’t like- I would give this book 4.5 stars rather than 5 (I usually round up when a site doesn’t have half stars as an option). Mainly because there were times when the heroine really was self-involved, if not self-centered, for a 30 year old adult. But not often enough to lower the rating to a 4. I did like that she was called on it though. It just made her occasionally harder to like.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Edited: upon a reread, I think that the heroine’s self involvement is a character trait and nobody’s perfect. Imperfections make a character more interesting. And they do call her on it, so I’ll give back the half star I had deducted. -GC

Beth left her family, the Lost Saxons, 10 years ago, because of one man, Logan Harlow, and rarely ever comes home to visit. They were in love, and he broke her heart when he ended them without a reason, so she would be fine if she never saw him again. Now, she has to come home for a visit, and her plan is to dodge him until she's gone. Unfortunately, she's put smack dab in the middle of danger, and he's the club's Sergeant-at-Arms, so she's stuck with him guarding her, and she's not happy with this at all. And it's made worse by him saying that he wants her to give him another chance, which she tells him that there's no chance that they can even be friends anymore. WOW, Snared Rider was not only an exciting story with all kinds of twists that had me dropping f-bombs, but the emotional chaos nearly did me in as well. I seriously felt all of Beth's pain like it was my own, and when her emotions finally spilled over, I felt like mine did as well as I cheered her on. I was yelling out loud for her to throat punch him so many times, even when I had all the information, and that's all I'll say about that. And I won't deny that they didn't have potent chemistry, because it seemed like the air crackled with it, and yes, it eventually led to lighting the sheets on fire during sexy times. So I'll move on to the amazing cast of secondaries who were so colorful that they added so much more depth to this story, and I want every one of them to get their own stories, yep, that's how awesome they were! Anyway, I'm in love with Jessica Ames, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Problemas: buracos. Enormes buracos no enredo. Coisas que a gente queria saber, coisas que são só referidas. Flash back demais. Muito detalhados. Enquanto a gente precisa de mais sobre a história atual e coisas que acontecem e não são explicadas, ficamos chafurdando no flash back da h com 14 anos e sua paixão juvenil. Too Much.
Bem, talvez eu escreva mais depois, sobre o POV da h somente. A autora conserta isso na próxima série, os Untamed Sons, mas Lost Saxons é toda em POV unilateral

There is no skimming over events or the descriptions of what’s happening then their is a shootout or an intent of vehicle manslaughter, experience what Beth is going through and thinking when something is happening to her. All told in Beth’s POV. I believe she does technically kiss Logan before Beth breaks up with her rich wanker of a boyfriend but their relationship has been on the rocks for a while. As for Logan, Beth does witness him kissing another woman her first night back at the clubhouse but he’s not in a relationship, it’s more of a hookup since he was ‘bored’. That was the only time the other woman is seen and only mentioned A couple of times, no other woman drama ever happening. Beth’s bf causes a lot of emotional abuse towards Beth through phone calls and texts, but we don’t actually met the man until the very end on move day. Since what happened in this story for the crime and actions is basically for book 2 with Beth’s best friend and brother from another mother ( non blood related) Dean. I guess he helped an abused wife escape from her abusing husband and said husband tracked Dean down to their town and basically singled Dean out and by apoxy Beth since she was riding with Dean. The stalker knew about when a girl rides with a guy it’s a sign that she’s special, the stalker believes Beth is Dean’s woman and has singled her out as well. Beth’s vacation home will turn into something that she would watch on t.v. not thinking it’s going to be her Reality.

Angsty

I noticed that some people didn’t like that the main couple doesn’t interact until 20-something percent of the book, but I act liked it. In most books where the female lead wants to avoid the male lead, she almost always gives up ridiculously easily, but I know what it is to want to avoid an ex—particularly one you’re still in love with after years of breaking up—and when you’re actually trying to move on and really want nothing with that person you usually succeed avoiding them—most of the time.

So, it made sense to me that she stood her ground, I liked that she was working as best she could to move on from him, her anger and heartbreak were believable, I like that she didn’t just jump into things with him at first because you can’t just give up years of bitterness, but you shouldn’t give up on something you’ve been hoping for years just out of pride. It’s a tricky situation and I lid the way the author managed it.

I’m pleasantly surprised because this isn’t my first book by Jessica Ames, I read her other MC series first and it wasn’t thaaat good, don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t bad It just wasn’t anything to write home about, but this book was good and it’s almost as if they were written by different people.

I’m not very into angst but I can take it once in a while, particularly if it’s done right and not just for drama’s sake, and I liked it in this book, it felt real and necessary to make the story come to life.

This is an MC romance that's very different from anything else I've read. Part of that is that it's set in England, but another part of it is that there was a real sense of the history of the MC that I don't see in other stories. There were decades of past pain, loss and poor choices, all of which come together to make this a wonderful, heartbreaking but also healing second-chance-at-love story.
I really felt for Beth coming back to a family she loved but has lost. She's beset on all sides: pressure from work, unsupportive boyfriend, father pressuring her to come home and a very sick grandfather. It's a testament to the character's maturity that she doesn't explode all over everyone constantly.
Logan's tortured by his decision to let Beth go, and although the reason for that decision which is eventually revealed is a good one, he's never gotten past it.
The structure of the story - alternating between the tensions of the present and flashbacks to the root of the schism twelve years ago - really worked for me. Flashbacks often break up a story's flow, but these didn't. They were seemless and advanced the plot at just the right pace. Slow reveal after slow reveal.
I'm really looking forward to the rest of this series!

(4 stars)

It's been ten years since Beth left home. Ten years since she had her heart broken and she left for school and just never went back except for the odd visit here and there. She has moved on with her life, but still hasn't quite recovered from the damage that Logan caused. Now, she is back home, back at the clubhouse, with her father and the brothers that helped raise her. Her goal, visit her family, and try and get through these next ten days without seeing Logan, who is now the Sergeant At Arms. When things don't really go the way that Beth had hoped, she ends up being right up close and personal with Logan as he is now her babysitter until some unpleasantness is dealt with. Can Beth keep her distance despite all the things Logan is saying? Can he keep her safe from the outside dangers that are now hunting them?

This was an ok MC read, not really a nitty gritty, but also not all unicorns and rainbows. The middle ground really, with just a tiny bit of violence, some ok naughty times, and of course the right amount of drama for a second chance romance. Logan and Beth were a cute couple and I give this 4 stars.

Where can I sign up to be a Lost Saxon!! Jessica Ames Debut novel is fantastic, I can’t wait for future works if this is a sign of what’s to come. Snared Rider is second chance MC romance, Beth and Logan both grew up in the Lost Saxons MC, but after Logan breaks her heart in a misguided attempt at doing the right thing, she moves to London to escape him, at the price of her family, 10 years pass with only sporadic visits, but when she finds herself the target of a madman during one visit Logan the clubs SAA decides he’s done with letting her avoid and ignore him, he loves her and wants her back and he does everything in his power to prove that, the chemistry sizzling below the surface between these 2 was off the charts, this book has everything you need in an MC romance, a feisty strong heroine, who takes no shit and a sexy hot dirty talking Biker, oh la la what else do you need in a book?? Suspense, danger and drama, I hear you say, well this checks all those boxes too. Can’t wait for Deans book, highly recommend this book to all romance lovers.

Where have I been?!!

This author is new to me and popped up in a Spotlight that was happening in a group, I read the blurb and I was hooked. One clicked straightaway!
I have not been able to put this book down...okay, only to go to bed last night and go to a family dinner at Pizza Express today!!
I connected with Beth from the off, stuck between wanting to be with the family that means so much to her and trying to avoid that one person that destroyed her heart.
But the heart, truly wants what the heart wants and when she is placed in danger, that person is the first to step up to protect her at all costs! My heart, I tell you cracked wide open! I prayed that Logan and Beth got their HEA! So much time wasted, life is most definitely too short. But somebody hasn't finished wreaking havoc on the Lost Saxons and those close to them, prepare for bloodshed!
Holy crap, my nerves are shot to pieces after reading this, but I loved every word! Can't wait to catch up on the rest of the series now!

Yes To Snared Rider

Snared Rider is a really good story!! It has the things I consider a good read, humor, alpha males, feisty female characters, angst, suspense, love and sexy time. This author does an amazing job pulling all those keys elements into this story.
The story starts off slow but the author has to build the foundation of these characters along with a back story. Once the story picks up it will keep you on the edge of your seat. Ames puts the h of the story though the ringer. The storyline keeps you interested from beginning to the end. I loved the supporting characters in this story and I hope Ames continues with this series.
This is done in one POV(I prefer two POVs)but it doesnt take away from the storyline. I really wanted Logan the Hero of the story's POV as well as the h's Beth.
I am so glad I found this author, I am looking forward to reading more of her books. Happy Reading !!!
