Quinn finally gets what she’s always wanted—a Fae-Cation. But now Boston faces annihilation.

A bloody murder spree in the Land of the Fae with her vampire bestie should have been all fun and games for Quinn… that is, until she finally learns the stunning truth about her past and the decision she was born to make — a decision which threatens to bring her world to a screeching halt.

Because the price is just too high.

But when a trusted friend betrays her, unleashing the storm of the century — not to mention an army of ancient, lethal monsters — upon Boston Harbor, Quinn is forced to choose whether she will save herself or those she cares about.

This former black magic arms dealer must call in every favor she has ever earned, and, even then, there’s a good chance she won’t be strong enough to stop the Eye at the center of the storm from taking away everything she’s ever loved.

Because the only way to save Boston...

Is to become something even worse. What she was born to become…

Okay

This book was okay. The story was pretty good, and hard to put down. I can’t seem to make myself like Quinn, though I have been trying. I just can’t relate to her at all. She is over the top violent, and basically just a mean person to everyone. She is also kind of ignorant about a lot of things, and seems to only want to look at things from that ignorance. I don’t find her to be anything like Nate.

I received an ARC copy and am giving my review in my own words and of my own volition.

Wow. Just wow. This series has just become an epic fantasy of the highest level. I can't believe how well this one brought it all together and how much I cried and laughed and thoroughly enjoyed every page. Cameron has definitely found his groove and I can't wait for the next one!

I've come to be able to tell what is Cameron and what is Shayne thanks to learning how they work as a team. Knowing that Shayne's contribution is more in the humorous additions and editing aspect helped me realize what an amazing author Cameron is becoming. I'm sure that sounded patronizing, and I truly don't mean it to, but the first two books didn't flow as well as book three did, and now Dark & Stormy has gone to another level. It has reached a true literary flow that keeps me reading, unable to put it down, and rather pissed when I have to put it down. That is the way I have always felt about Shayne's books and I'm thrilled to see that this partnership has become so cohesive and that Cameron has become such an excellent writer in his own right who definitely loves what he's doing Because it shows in each and every word.

Good gods you two amaze me. I used to think only people like Frank Herbert, or Raymond E. Feist could produce an epic fantasy series like this. But these guys have proved me very very wrong. I don't have anything to add that I'd like to see more of because every time I think I'd like to see this or that develop it's like they've read my mind because suddenly it is developing. And there isn't anything I dislike because to dislike something in these books at this point would be arrogant. They are the masters. I'm just a reader.

I will say you should read the Temple series by Shayne Silvers before you read this series because there is quite a bit of background necessary from the Temple books to understand the Phantom Diaries series. But even if you read these first, Cameron has written this in such a way that you should be able to put pieces together enough to figure out what is going on with Quinn. And when you're done you'll more than likely want to read the Temple series to keep the continuity going. But remember when you read this series that it is Cameron's character and storyline meant to be linked to the Temple series but still written from his viewpoint. They make an amazing team. They are so worth the read.

In the end, all I can say is, So Very Very Well Done Cameron! And thank you Shayne for your masterful contributions that brought Phantom Diaries right into the Temple-verse! Together you two leave me in awe.

I really liked this book, especially the first part, up through where Quinn visits Neverland. After that it was kind of sailing through unfamiliar waters and changing course a little too often for me to properly keep up. Although I did like her solution for getting rid of Balor. Except that I hope that eye thing doesn’t show up around here any time soon!

It seems Quinn didn’t get all the answers she needed on her last trip to Fae, and she’s made a deal for a map that will show her how to get back in. It turns out that the nearest accessible entrance is in the Bermuda Triangle. So a lot of this book takes place on various oceans.

Othello arranges for Alucard to accompany Quinn on her journey, and the two of them set out via a cruise ship owned by Narcissus.

They enter by the part of Fae that is Neverland, meeting up with Captain Hook on his ship, the Jolly Roger first, and then Peter Pan, who, despite his promises to the contrary, has grown up and now has children. This enjoyable interlude is too soon over, and Quinn is taken prisoner by Ryan O’Rye and a bunch of goblins whose task is to take her to King Oberon. After passing through at least two alternate worlds or dimensions or something in an attempt to escape, Quinn finally winds up – on Oberon’s ship, where she meets her aunts and finally finds out who she really is.

And then, after some more rapid travel from place to place, it is time for Quinn to finally take on the big threat that has been looming all along – Balor and the Fomorians.

Full of action and moving at a breakneck speed- Quinn, accompanied by Alucard is going to Fae to finally get some answers. Lots of fabulous mythical characters and world building and also Quinn's own character arc is brilliantly executed. What I didn't like was how rude and obnoxious Quinn was in book. As much as I love her Kickass attitude it was a bit too much for me and really got on my nerve. She sounded so much like Nate, when Nate is being disagreeable which is quite often. But what Quinn lacks is Nates charisma too pull off the attitude. Even when Nate is most off putting he has the allure to make it sexy. Quinn just came through as awful and treated everyone like shit, especially Alucard. I wanted Alucard to leave her sorry ass stranded in Fae. After her deal with the Winter Queen she is on a collision course with Nate Temple over Fae and I'm looking forward to how it all work out.

Called. It.

So, book four of the Phantom Queens (listed book 3 of 4, book 4 to be out July 10th in the intro, by the by, Shayne) starts off subtle yet wastes no time rolling into high gear at the first opportunity to show the next series of jumps in the status quo. Quinn Mackenna is thrown further out of her element as she learns the trek into the land of the Fae is only the shallow end of her pool of problems and finally getting there only gives her more questions instead of answers, though the answers she does find give her no peace for them.

The pacing is a bit slower for this one, still breakneck by most standards but O'Connell seems to have hammered out all he needs to for the series to finally give it just a smidge of breathing room between each event. Quinn spends her time torn between reacting physically and reacting mentally to everything thrown her way, and despite the relatively shoehorned manner of their meeting in the previous book, Alucard makes the transition between his role in the Nate Temple books to this series seamlessly, his chemistry with Quinn realistic despite their limited engagement and already foreshadowing further bumps in the road later on.

The big twist (like an ogre trying to hide behind a wire fence, honestly man) takes the already pin-balling situation and adds a whole lot of torque to it. Everything Quinn thought of herself and her origins ended up being wrong, and she's not given a moment to process it before St.Louis level weather patterns of mild Armageddon with scattered Great Floods expected in the latter half of the day sweep over Boston. It plays out exactly as one would expect a sudden apocalyptic war to go, though of course not without being solved by way of a pressured deal being made that can only lead to sunshine and roses for Quinn later on, and if she keeps telling herself that maybe she'll even believe it.

All in all, this installment had the most bombshells packed into it thus far, even shedding a little extra light on the utter chaos that the Temple name is capable of wreaking all across existence whether intentional or otherwise. Pretty much everything is a smoldering heap of a fresh start, unwelcome as it is, and the big question is where Quinn will go next with it all. Looking forward to it as always.

Quinn MacKenna, a black-magic arms dealer from Boston, had always wanted an office of her own, stocked with all the things that depict a standard office – and a whiskey decanter always within reach! But doing her form of business here just meant that an office made it easier to find and kill you! So unfortunately, doing her kind of work involved seedy motels, abandoned warehouses, strip clubs, and other disgusting locales. But the discomfort she was able to cause Arjun -- who had made her suffer through his passive-aggressive critiques of all things feminine -- by making him sit in the strip club while she handled her business with the Indian Prince was worth it all. She especially enjoyed his reaction to the Christmas wrapping on the herbs she had procured for the Prince which had shown the reindeer in some very naughty activities. After further torturing the ultra-conservative, straight-laced Arjun by introducing one of the chatty strippers to them, she headed out into the rain to wait for an Uber.

Quinn is finally ready to enter the land of the Fae, accompanied by Alucard, to get some answers about her past. As always, there are tons of other things going on too. Will Quinn be able to save Boston from what’s heading that way? Will she get all of the answers she has been looking for all this time? Where will she go from here?

I love the fast pace of the authors’ books, and am glad to see it continuing as the twists and turns don’t stop. The characters will draw the reader in and provide a totally awesome read! The humor is unparalleled! Prepare yourself for laughter and enjoy one of the very best series you’ll find! Wonderful job, gentlemen!

I have held off my 5 star review for Cameron....Until now! This book deserves 5 1/2 Stars I absolutely loved it!

Quinn is put through the ringer of revelation, loss and betrayals. With every new chapter comes another blow to the face or the gutt both emotionally and physically..... She has to pick herself back up and keep fighting. She does have help from some fantastic storybook Disney characters and some Templverse characters. Firefang. Lol Cameron pulls out all the stops for this one...... Do you know what Quinn really is? I do! Lol She is...... quick witted, quick temperament, if you think think she was a pain in the butt and mouthy before wait until you meet her Wild Side. Lol

Quinn learns that just because you get the answers to most of the questions you have about your life, doesn’t mean you’ll like them or that don’t come without loss or substantial pain. Or those answers, or active powers, will change your lifw in a positive way. Especially when those powers come with people who envious and lusting after them. Or wanting to use you to take out their enemies. Great conclusion of the arc, but leaves you wanting more

Quinn is fast becoming my favorite of the Temple-verse with her take-no-prisoners attitude, and I have to say it’s nice to see a “good guy” not like Nate. Oh, don’t get me wrong, I love Nate, but it’s interesting to see someone not be on board with his shenanigans. From the outside, he does look bad even though those of us on the inside know the truth. Anyway, I loved this latest installment, and the book was filled with revelations as well as more questions to be answered. Like always, there is non-stop action, great characters, and lots of fun. And let’s not forget the terrible betrayal at the end. That left me very sad for many reasons. I always look forward to these books, and so far, none have let me down. If you are fan already, you will love this latest. Highly recommend! I was provided the e-book which I voluntarily reviewed.

This is an awesome addition to the series, and to the Temple Verse in general. The storyline is well-written, fast-paced, has action, adventure, amazing characters as well as secondary characters. Our heroine is a snarky, kick-ass, no-holds-barred type and is looking for answers. The world-building is over-the-top, as is fitting for this series and the reader can lose themselves in the story. I loved it. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.

Another fantastic book!!

Another fantastic book by O’Connell and Silvers. It’s been a wild ride following along with the heroine, Quinn, while she searches for answers to questions of her heritage and her powers.... she’s making more connections, more friends, and kicking arse as she goes. Faeries and vampires and goblins, oh my!!! I can’t wait to see how her meeting with Nate goes!

Legendary in every sense

Quinn's 'Faecation' turns fairytale --of a Grimm sort...and a swashbuckling adventure to make Captain Jack Sparrow proud, if he had a Hook for a hand. Friends become foes and family, she learns, is Never what they seem. Then again, neither is she. Tough choices force her to bargain with the fate of the one man who could make or break Fae---and puts her on the opposing side of those few she trusts.

Kicking Butt in all the right ways

What an awesome ride. Quinn's quest to find out who she is, takes her to the land of Fea. While there, she meets some characters out of story books and what she finds out about her self is more than what she bargained for. If you want a great read with an awesome female character, these books are for you.

Anger management at its finest

Quinn Is Angry! She pushes her friends away and she pushes anyone who wants to assist her away. She is so driven to the point of stupid and reckless. A really great story that made me actually shout at the kindle and tell Quinn to stop being an idiot and listen. The character build and the story craft really makes you invested in our heroine, even if she drives you nuts. Lots of twists, turns and betrayals. I really enjoyed it.

Absolute Excellence!!

Quinn is a fantastic addition to the Templeverse! This book was the most intense in this storyline so far and a serious page-turner!
I love the use of pop-culture movie and book references, as well as age old myths and legends.
We find out more about Quinn's past and get more info on why she is as hard bitten and distrustful as she is.
Read it!

Just wow...absolutely brilliant!
Everything comes full circle for Quinn. She gets what she wants, a trip to Fae and many of the answers she has searched for endlessly. But bombshell after bombshell can take a toll. War, betrayal, and startling truths throat-punch the reader as we get to experience heretofore unseen parts of Fae and beyond. Masterful.

From a strip club housing the sins of humanity to the very epitome of a pleasure cruise to the enchanting fairytales of our childhood that have had to grow up, Cameron O’Connell and Shayne Silvers take us on an epic journey of discovery. Quinn MacKenna finally gets her wish in the 4th installment of the Phantom Queen series. Unfortunately, Quinn learns the hard way that you better be careful what you wish for. Saddled with a guide she doesn’t trust and faced with truths and answers she doesn’t want, Quinn has to make some extremely hard choices and that will leave some devastated and defeated and others safe and secure. Utterly and irrevocably betrayed by those she thought she could trust, Quinn discovers that perhaps those she mistrusted are the very ones that she can count on no matter what; and as she fights for her future and the future of those that she loves and her beloved hometown of Boston, she must dig deep within and accept the destiny that has been hers all along, or watch helplessly as everything is taken from her. It is a decision she cannot return from once made and it will change everything. Let’s just hope our favorite black magic arms dealer makes the right choice and figures out who to put her faith in before it’s too late. Get comfy and grab your favorite drink. You are in for a Dark and Stormy ride!

All hell breaks loose for Quinn in this adventure to find herself!

It never ceases to amaze me how fate can bring two of the most talented authors together to create three separate stories and manage to cross them over with perfection. Dark and Stormy is proof of just that. Masters Silver and O'Connell have done it again. Master O'Connell has created a phenomenal character in Quinn. Going through all she does just to find out who and what she is has proven that Master O'Connell is an author to add to your must read list. Both intriguing and fun, and not to mention downright scary at times this novel is a proven winner. Master Silvers weaves in his own special magic with his characters we all have grown to love in his other series.
This is a definite must read series!
