Somebody wanted Minerva Rus dead. They succeeded. But Minerva isn’t letting a little thing like death stop her.
After the dangerous adventure that killed her in Memortality, Minerva Rus has reconciled herself to being dead. She and her also-dead boyfriend Raven share an amazing gift that allows them to bring the dead back to life―including each other. Now that Jules, their most dangerous enemy, has been banished from reality and trapped inside her own mind, Minerva and Raven plan on enjoying the eternity of their unnatural lives.
But immortality isn’t safe. Minerva and Raven’s life-giving powers mysteriously fade, forcing them to take refuge in The Between, a shadowy realm of memories that lies between life and death. What's more, their old adversary Jules is on the loose, partnered with a resurrected Nazi scientist planning a monstrous experiment that will change the destiny of the human race. And now it's up to a 21-year-old dead girl to save the world―again.

Reviewed on behalf of http://bookaddict.live, I loved this book, it is amazing and unlike any storyline I have read in ages. I mean it is really not every day that the “undead” walk among us in non-zombie form. I love anything with originality and this had plenty of that. This is actually book two, but after a bit of confusion I picked up what was happening. The first book is called Memortality, and I must go back and read it. I loved the main characters Minerva and Raven and even Carson. No spoilers and if you read the blurb, I don’t want to repeat myself except to say if you want read something with plenty of action with a nasty baddie, then this is for you. I would advise reading Memortality first to get the full effect. I can’t praise this book enough I rarely give 5 stars, but I’m willing to give this one 6 stars if available. I loved every minute of reading it. Now I’m waiting for book 3.
Paralucidity is the second book in the YA fantasy Memortality series. Not having read the first book, I was a bit confused; however I found myself quickly drawn into the fast-moving storyline. I found the characters to be fascinating, and was intrigued by their plight. Minerva and Raven are dead, but somehow brought each other back to some state of being through their memories of each other. A super top secret branch of the government, the FIA, intends to program them to be a sort of super soldiers or weapons. Carson, and FIA agent, turned good guy, breaks them out and they are on the run. Again, I was a bit confused in the beginning, so I would not consider this book a good standalone; however, it was extremely well-written and all in all was extremely entertaining!
Alright you guys, I am going to tell you from the get-go, that in order to enjoy Paralucidity, you will need to have read Memortality first.
I love those books, they are amazing and unlike any storyline I have read in ages. I mean it is really not every day that the “undead” walk among us in non-zombie form. And honestly, I am blown away by the originality of the concept of bringing back the dead by thought.
That was bloody genius!
That was what got me hooked to the characters and the books.
Here are enough spoilers for you, and let me dig in deeper into our main characters Minerva and Raven. I really like them, though to be honest, I wish Minerva would start gaining more confidence as she goes. She should, especially as she has a great support system in Raven.
On the other hand, I do love Carson so much and in the Love to Hate Category we have Jules!
I am not telling you exactly who they are, because you know me and the answer will be to go and grab both books.
We currently have 2 books and I am guessing one more coming, but I am curious to see how many will be part of the series. Because the way I see it, there is a lot going on, and I am not sure 1 more book is enough to close everything. Plus to be fair, I would be way happy with more action.
I think Stephen did an amazing job with both books, even though sometimes I felt the pace slowed down a bit, and I am all about fast-paced action. We do get a lot of those too to be fair.
I am honestly finding it hard to tell you about this series, without giving it all away, and trust me you do not want me to do that to you.
However, what I can tell you is that you are going to love these books as they are really quite different from anything I have recently read. The characters are complex and fascinating, the premise truly original and the other protagonists equally outstanding.
When someone can give me a good baddie to hate, then I am a happy girl!
Seriously though, there is something really special about this series and if you like some fantasy with action and a bit of adventure then this is the book for you. There are some seriously fun surprises too in there but my lips are sealed!
I am going to very HIGHLY recommend Memortality and Paralucidity to you, and I hope you love them as much as I did!
266 page contemporary fantasy. Sequel to “Memortality”.
Another captivating novel by Stephen Provost that is just as thrilling as the first book of the saga.
Minerva is at it again, with Raven at her side and keeping her in his thoughts. Literally. With the two of them encompassed in the “Between”, they meet and experience the person that many believe is the man that Robin Hood was fashioned after. But is he an ally or an enemy?
Arch enemy Jules returns to create more havoc, but this time she has help from a Nazi scientist. Together they develop a plan that will not only ensure they can bring people back from the “Between” but also give them the ability to close the “Between”.
This book was hard to put down! It was a quite adventure!! I can't believe the ending!!! That was awesome indeed!! I highly recommend this book to anyone!!! I can't wait to go read Identity Break!!! Keep writing!!! You and Samaire are too good!!!♥
