This can serve as a good reminder to stay positive, but it's nothing groundbreaking. All of the typos were distracting, too. This could've used another round of editing.
Full of badass women through out the centuries and some great quotes but it just wasn’t a great read for me . To each their own. Just wasn’t for me 🤷🏼♀️
Her writing is bordering on completely ruinous but certainly aggressively counterproductive to any current understanding of feminism. Zero acknowledgement of any idea other than extreme heteronormative sexuality. Some quotes were okay but her descriptions of their authors had entirely the wrong focus points if they were factually correct. Riddled with errors. Instead of this book, read the works of the incredible female authors that she pulls quotes from.
The book was not what I originally was looking for but it turned out to be a good quick read. The book is.more of a confidence booster than a knowledge gainer.
This is a good book if you need a place to start when it comes to affirmations! Very female positive and highlights a lot of awesome things women in this world have done. I highlighted different affirmations that were meaningful to me and in the back there is an option to journal with different writing prompts.
I found the text encouraging and I like the idea of having a quick look into the lives of women who have shown courage. The quotations were inspirational. In actuality, I liked the premise and the title better than the book, but it had its moments and was still worth the read.
I really enjoyed this book. While it was definitely different than I anticipated, I appreciated it and can completely get behind the spirit of it. I will use this book and the journal prompts at the end to continuously self reflect. It should be noted that a good chunk of the book consists of quotes and very little consisted of actual thoughts from the author.
Some quotes and excerpts were really interesting. Some were a little dull. Some of the people featured in the book were inspiring while some people featured were questionable people like Margaret Thatcher.
Love reading about women from all times from around the world from all races/religions/politcal environments and their successes. This book is great a reminder for all the badass women out there. It’s just positive, encouraging and gets you going. Girl power!!
📖Badass Affirmations🖋Becca Anderson This is a book whose purpose is to provoke you, to make you try, to show you, through the examples, that you too can achieve what you want. The book contains quotes from famous women left in history, as well as short biographies of some of them. You can recognize yourself in the stories of many of these women who, although successful, are above all human beings just like you ... There are positive statements in the book, called affirmations, through which you can change your attitude, your way of thinking, and ultimately your life. But these positive thoughts also need action... . 📝Favorite quotes: 📌"Dedicate your day to something so daring that even you can't believe you're doing it." Oprah Winfrey . 📌"Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius, and it is better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring." Marilyn Monroe . 📌"I felt free because my greatest fear had become a reality. But I had a daughter I adored, an old typewriter and a great idea. Thus, the bottom for me became a solid foundation on which to rebuild my life." J. K. Rowling . 📌"My understanding of being "sexy" is the less, the better. The less you reveal, the more interest you will arouse." Emma Watson
"You carry forever the fingerprint that comes from being under someone's thumb."~Nancy Banks-Smith
"I wanted to show you that there's no one right way to live your life. The women quoted in this book are all wildly different, one-of-a-kind individuals."
"Take the affirmations you have written down, the ones from this book, and any you created for yourself, and wear them like armor. Anyone who wants to get to you has to get through your unwavering self-confidence, your powerful love, your strength and beauty, your inner drive, your family support, and your raw power. And the more you affirm yourself, the stronger that armor will be. So don't give up. Don't give in. Live your life the way YOU want to live it."~Becca Anderson
I loved this book so much more than I expected. I stumbled across it on Amazon looking for something on affirmations.
It is a powerful combination of affirmations, real life stories of amazing women and encouragement to be yourself as the wild woman you are. I highly recommend for all women.
There are some nice biographies and quotes! I am intrigued by Frida Kahlo and plan on reading more about her. Also I had no idea Michelle Obama was as successful as she was before Barack. Here are some of my favorites:
“It is a curious thought, but it’s only when you see people looking ridiculous that you realize just how much you love them.” Agatha Christie
“The best and most beautiful things in this world cannot be seen or even heard, but must be felt with the heart.” Helen Keller
“Elegance is the only beauty that never fades.” Audrey Hepburn
“To us, family means putting your arms around each other and being there.” Barbara Bush
“It’s a good thing to have all the props pulled out from under us occasionally. It gives us some sense of what is rock under our feet, and what is sand.” Madeleine L’Engle
“I decided long ago never to walk in anyone’s shadow; if I fail, or if I succeed at least I did as I believe.” Whitney Houston
“The only tired I was, was tired of giving in.” Rosa Parks
“Only dead fish swim with the stream all the time.” Linda Ellerbee, NBC News
BADASS AFFIRMATIONS The wit and wisdom of wild women - Becca Anderson
-Michelle Obama said it best "When you've worked hard, and done well, and walked through that doorway of opportunity, you don't slam it shut behind you. You reach back and you give other folks the same chance that helped you succeed!"
I love affirmations so it was a no brainer when I seen and picked up this book. It wasn't like out of this world life changing but I picked it up and read a few of them each day for a couple of months. It was great and nice an easy read. I really liked the Journaling pages I mean if you know me, you know I like it all better on paper than just inside my head.😉
Looking for some affirmations and powerful women info. Give it a whirl! Pass it on!
Love the book and concept...however, nothing turns me off faster than reading away and hitting a roadblock that catches my eye and brain such as a grammatical error or punctuation where it shouldn’t be...it interferes with my flow of reading and learning...just a few pages in...I had to stop twice and re read what I read to find it isn’t me, but mistakes in the (publishing ?).
If you want to write a book to affect powerful people, be powerful yourself in making sure there are no mistakes when published.
I really enjoyed the layout of this book. It was completely different than I expecting. I didn’t expect essentially an entire book of quotes however I did like it! I have a notebook I keep that I jot down quotes that mean something to me. I’ve never actively done the affirmations thing however this may have inspired me to do so. I also think this is a good book to gift to others! I would have enjoyed a little more meat in the chapters to tie in all the quotes. Overall I really enjoyed it and will uses it for quick inspiration as needed!
Found this bizarrely uplifting and I guess the last "journaling" sections would also be useful to do some goal-setting and helping orient oneself. There are just times in life where you need this, I guess.
Though the choice of some of the notable women was a bit questionable. Quotes from Ayn Rand? A section dedicated on Margaret Thatcher? Her politics directly affected the lives of marginalised women for the worse.
Super easy and fun read. This book is broken up with quotes, affirmations, narratives from the author, and short accounts of powerful women in history. She breaks each chapter up by topic: finances, body image, career, motherhood, etc. So it doesn't have to be a cover to cover read if you're needing motivation and positive vibes for a certain area in life. Def recommend for yourself or your friends!
This book has a great list of positive affirmations with a focus on women who have been successful in a variety of contexts. It is geared towards a female audience and has a very positive feminism that is inspiring and motivating. The only issue I have with it is that it is unfortunately already somewhat outdated. But you can still use the journal prompts and such, those will never feel outdated.
This was ok. I like some of the affirmations and stories. I was disappointed by the "badass to the bone" highlights because the (totally badass) women were so mainstream. I will hold onto the affirmations. Also disappointing that the section on fa.ily was so focused on motherhood. Can't women be more than that and be bad ass??
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I enjoyed the quotes and summaries of each woman. I did wonder about a few of the choices as I felt they were not role models nor true feminists. Having said that, I wish that birth dates/years were included as well as the dates of publishing’s and speeches. I feel that this would add to the feminist history timeline.
There are some great quotes from some very fabulous women in the book, but I don't think I'm the affirmation type of gal so it fell flat for me. However, if one does happen to be the affirmation type, then this will likely be a very good book.

Liked the book. I know the book is literally called Badass Affirmations but I was not a fan of the affirmations. Otherwise good book read at the beach in a day. Recommend if your looking for something light and easy to read.
I absolutely loved it. Reminder of how strong women are and we all need those reminders. Positive Affirmations help lift spirit, improve attitude and can help relieve stress. I really enjoyed the stories of some of the women. I've started buying them for gifts.
